Not that Iran's nuclear program is anything but peaceful, of course. Everyone knows that. "Banned cargo on way to Iran held in UAE," by Simeon Kerr and Najmeh Bozorgmehr in the Financial Times (thanks to Larwyn):
The United Arab Emirates has impounded the cargo of a vessel bound for Iran after discovering that "hazardous materials" aboard contravened UN sanctions placed on the Islamic republic to curtail its nuclear development programme. In a further ratcheting up of the UAE's determination to curb misuse of its ports, an official there confirmed that the cargo, detained for testing last month, contained materials banned by UN Security Council resolutions 1737 and 1747, while the purchaser of the materials had also been barred by the same resolutions.
But he declined to identify the contents of the cargo or the Iranian company that had ordered the materials.
The UAE's move comes amid a broader tightening of control over Iranian business interests that have for decades existed in the emirates, mainly Dubai.
"The UAE wants to be seen to take action as they haven't been so proactive in the past on, for example, dual-use materials," says Neil Patrick, analyst for the International Crisis Group, a non-governmental organisation....

There are many more questions that must be answered . . .i.e. - - - > Who is the supplier?

To the extent this story is accurate on its face, UAE impounded the "stuff" not because of UN resolutions (this was the excuse) but because Sunni Arabs don't want Shiite Persians to ever significantly outgun them.

See, this is why I think we are giving the UAE a bad rap. They may actually be trying to become civilized. Sure, money to terrorists flows through there, but ALL money between islam and the west flows through there. Mafia and drug lord money flows through our banks, but we don't support them, right?
I think the UAE might be closet capitalists. That they're not interested in letting Iran start WWIII is a good sign.

...yep, otherwise known as the Chinese made CSS-8 (also called t3he Tondar-69)and the Fateh 110
, and the SCUD C AND SCUD B, THE SHAHAB 3 (OF North Korean design),and the Shahab 4 (of Russian design)..
these imports come from Libya, North Korea, China, Russia, and some of the Russian republics such as Moldova.
...note, the Iranians import only small quanties of food, medicine, clothing, and other living essentials...they prefer weapons, missiles, explosives, Nuclear fuels and parts necessary to construct nuclear bombs....
Islam...feel the love?....

Isn't the UAE the country that recently bailed out Citibank, buying a large share of stock? I heard that they are charging a high interest rate to Citibank; is it *halal* to charge interest?
I am waiting to hear that Citibank is moving its headquarters from New York to Abu Dhabi. I am glad that I have cut up all my Citibank credit cards.

The UAE Sheikhdoms are heavily infiltrated by Iranian intelligence which caters to the vices of the ruling élites. The Iranians have used the UAE banking and commercial infrastructure to bust the sanction regime. This announcement is just their way of throwing a bone to keep the "dumb Americans" off their tail.
