"Pre-independence euphoria" in Kosovo

Cyprus is the European Union's lone holdout in supporting independence for Kosovo. Gee, why is that? Could it be their common history with Serbia with respect to having its territory eaten away for the sake of Muslim interests? "Pre-independence euphoria in Kosovo," by William J. Kole for the Associated Press:

PRISTINA, Serbia - Thousands of wildly cheering pro-independence demonstrators marched through Kosovo's gritty capital Monday as a sense of euphoria swept the breakaway province preparing to gain statehood early next year.
Kosovars, assured of staunch U.S. support and a promise of recognition from all but one EU country, reveled in hopes that a decades-old dream may be within reach despite fierce opposition by Serbia and Russia.
International mediators failed to negotiate a compromise on Kosovo's future by Monday's U.N. deadline.
"Independence means so much to us. It means a new identity and a new future for Kosovo," said Agim Kastrati, a 19-year-old law student who marched through Pristina demanding a declaration of statehood early in 2008.
European Union foreign ministers meeting Monday in Brussels, Belgium, said they had "virtual unanimity" on recognizing Kosovo's eventual independence, with Cyprus the sole holdout.
[...]
Yet the celebratory mood was tinged with uncertainty. Some wondered whether the seemingly imminent birth of a nation will re-ignite ancient ethnic hatreds and thrust the Balkans into a new cycle of bloodshed.
NATO, which maintains 16,000 peacekeepers in Kosovo, has boosted street patrols in a show of force aimed at discouraging extremists on both sides of the ethnic divide.
"I don't believe it's possible for Serbs and Albanians to live together peacefully," said Mimoza Sejdiu, 24, an ethnic Albanian at Monday's rally. "I don't see a common future as citizens of one country."
In a sign of underlying tensions, Kosovo police said that over the weekend, unknown assailants tossed a bottle of flaming liquid into a vacant house owned by Serbs in the town of Gnjilane southeast of Pristina and sprayed this menacing message: "Death to Serbs."

With that name, how did the family ever get started? Maybe the name was changed in honor of some distant uncle taken by the Turks as a slave?

"I don't believe it's possible for Serbs and Albanians to live together peacefully." Frankly neither do I. What implications does this realistic appraisal have for our own goal of multicultralism?

Kosovo is what Muslim ghettos, in European countries, will become. Already we have seen the trend of said ghettos, to isolate themselves from the host country.

I've no doubt that we'll see more Kosovos in Europe, in the future. It's Islamification, pure and simple.

Wonderful-the ummah is about to have a baby. Conquest by the belly (in a sense) strikes again, bringing a cursed event to the Balkans in the process.

The ummah is about to have a baby. What a great description.

Move to another area. Complain that it isn't islamic. Demand to breakaway and create a new country. Turn it into an islamic nightmare.

Move to another area. Repeat, again and again.

Death by a thousand cuts of the islamic sword.

Yay, Bush! We get a terrorist state enclave clinging to the vitals of Europe and we as Americans deeply offend the Russians - something VERY dangerous and foolhardy right now. Kosovo is the one issue that could have helped bring Russia in with us against Islam's march. I was startled talking to Russians by how furious they are about our trashing of Serbians.
The 'Serbian Monsters' join the 'Israeli Monsters' as the world's bogeymen.

When the Kosovo economy runs out of East European women to kidnap and hashish to sell, won't they want to get on the EU tit? Would Uncle Bush come through with some cash to tideover until the KLA turns Kosovo into a high-tech dynamo of the West, a mini Taiwan. Perhaps Uncle Bush will settle for some Saudi baksheeh and a construction boom in minarets.

I don't believe so, I have yet to hear them agree with the separation of Kosovo from Yugoslavia. They have been against it from the beginning and have stated quite clearly that any solution must be one that Yugoslavia will endorse.

The discussion of this issue, these days,is avoided by the media or the politicians in Greece because probably everybody knows that US pressure sooner or later will lead the government to drop the veto over Kosovo.
Rumors say that after a meeting with Condoleeza Rice, last week,Foreign Minister Bakoyianni promised to drop objections over Kosovo.
The only obstacle to a common EU position remains Cyprus and on Friday 14 December, 26 of 27 EU leaders will try to "persuade" President Tassos Papadopoulos to drop his objections too.
Papadopoulos is not an easy man.In 2004 he went against a UN plan - the so called Annan Plan- about the solution of the Cyprus problem despite the fact that it had the backing of US,EU,Turkey and the main Greek parties and cancelled it.
But whether he will stand again for a second time against the whole Western world for a non-Cyprus issue, when in fact is just the leader of a tiny iceland, half of it also occupied,I do not know.

This is a continuing pattern amongst western leaders.
APPEASEMENT

In the UK there is a large, increasingly violent, intolerant moslem population, they will not integrate, the evidence in the UK and internationally suggests they will not integrate.
They are seperatist by nature of their religion.

The UK and european governments are scared, the US government under Bush is just plain ignorant.
They are scared of this islamist minority. No other minority is a problem, not the Sikhs/Hindus/Buddhists/Indians, just the moslems.
So they try to appease them.
Give them Kosovo, Kashmir, South Thailand, parts of the Phillopines, pay the Jizya to egypt, sudan, ksa, keep quit about the treatment of religious minorities there and in the UK.

And hope against hope that the islamic crocodile will eat you last.
If Bush is in such a hurry to get turkey into the EC why doesn't he just grant every turk a Green card.

There is war coming maybe not in our time, but for our children and grandchildren.

"I don't believe it's possible for Serbs and Albanians to live together peacefully," said Mimoza Sejdiu, 24, an ethnic Albanian at Monday's rally. "I don't see a common future as citizens of one country."

This same sentiment is expressed time and again in countless reports dealing with Kosovo- always by a young Albanian. Notice that you'll never hear Serbs saying this; as their position has always been that co-existence is possible as long as Albanians agree to live as loyal citizens.

Infidels would do well to take note of this-especially those of the European variety. Anyone who thinks that this is a problem only for Serbia is sadly mistaken or, more likely, misled by a criminally biased press. The intolerance displayed in the quote above is firmly rooted in the culture of Islam; or what Hugh Fitzgerald refers to as the "attitudes of Islam". The fact that one need not be a fully practicing muslim to be suffused with a feeling of hostility and condescension towards the non-muslim other.

We Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, Jews etc. we love to just get along, don't we? Even though sometimes have problems when mixing, we'll eventually put our heads together and work it out. Even after fighting sometimes savage wars, we'll eventually come to some sort of agreement as to who gets what, and we'll draw our lines and be done with it. But of course, all of our religions teach the Golden Rule, and contain teachings which are equivalent with Christ's admonishment to "Give unto Caeser..." or "My Kingdom is not of this world".

At some point, we have to ask ourselves if co-existence is possible with people who are disciples of a religion which teaches them that they are to rule and not to be ruled.

This is not an issue for the Serbs alone. The creation of an independent Kosovo will be the shot heard 'round the Islamic world. And the leaders of the muslim enclaves within Europe, already insurgent, will take note of just how much can be achieved with intimidation, threats, and terror.

For the muslims, co-existence, tolerance and mutual goodwill are fine just as long as they are in the minority and still trying to get their foot in the door. But as soon as they get the numbers and the power to have their way they'll show their true face.

When it was administered by the Serbs, Kosovo was home to a dozen nationalities that thrived for generations and hundreds of years- now, after eight years of NATO/UN rule, which has given the muslims free reign, it is a home only for muslims and that small and pitiable remnant of Serb, Gypsy and other non-muslims that have yet to feel the boot.

And yes, the Catholic Albanians of Kosovo, like the "Palestinian" Christians, are even now finding out and will come to see more and more with the passage of time that they have little or no future in the land of their fathers.

A prominent Bosnian muslim once wrote:

"There can be no co-existence between Islam and non-Islamic institutions."

-At some point, we Infidels are going to have to let them know that the feeling is mutual.

My husband visited Kosovo several years ago. There, he witnessed burnt out monasteries, convents and churches (thanks to the KLA) nuns living in cold abandoned boxcars, a pharmacy with only three bottles of medicine left, and a church that held the tomb of a 12th century Serbian king. The Serbians and gypsies were living on the edge of survival. Meanwhile...Albanians burned and looted at will, brand new mosques, compliments of Saudi Arabia, were being built, and the protection of the minorities was almost non-existent. This land will be another dar el-Islam, and Europe will come to regret it before the US does.

If these people only knew, independence has nothing to do with it.

Posted by: Isabellathecrusader [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 11, 2007 11:18 AM

This move will set a dangerous precedence that will lead to more break-away states. Greece for good reason is worried about such a precedence. Russians also, with Chechnya.....Muslims in Mindanao Philippines et cetera. That's not including the Muslim enclaves set up in Europe like in Sainte Denis, or Malmo, among countless others.....Once the Islamic numbers get up, and the precedence is set, look for the domino effect for the next 2 decades.

The Serbians have been talking resistance lately, and with Russian support have more of a bite to their resistance to the stealing of their sacred land. One of their leaders just said "NATO has tanks, but we have more tanks" and vowed to enter Kosovo if any Albanian ethnic cleansing of Serbs starts...he said that the Serb army would be there within a couple hours.

Good for the Serbs, don't give in. If Greece gives in, they're next. US has lost it's sanity.

......................

"A sign of underlying tensions"? Are they insane? Disagreements while drawing borders, or hammering out a new constitution, or setting up trade agreements with Serbia--those would be signs of "underlying tensions". What they so blandly describe as underlying tensions here are violent attacks, which are a sign of continued ethnic cleansing.

Kosovo is currently between eighty-five and ninety percent ethnic Albanian Muslim. It will soon join Albania as a European Muslim nation. I wouldn't be surprised if the Christian and other non-Muslim population soon falls much further. Like neighboring Turkey, with its policies of ethnic and religious cleansing, which is now ninety-nine percent Muslim.

Between 1999 and 2004 approximately 150 churches, monasteries, seminaries, and bishop residences were attacked by ethnic Albanian mobs. Many of the churches contained priceless Byzantine frescoes and other religious artifacts dating as far back as the 13th century. Many of the sites were reduced to rubble.

Kosovo likely will not only be cleansed of its Christian population, but also of most signs of "jahillya"--its pre-Muslim past.

Another state goes under the boot of the marching Islamic ‘Nazi’ expansionism into the land of Dar-al-Harb. If Kosovo came out of this as a new shining 21st centur secular state championing human rights, that would be great news. But don’t hold your breath. These Kosovars are plunging head long into the 7th century. Then when their economy is in total ruins, it already is mostly, then watch them come streaming into the rest of Europe for welfare largess. The whole event is pitiful, destruction, violation of human rights, minority genocide, and so it goes. Welcome to the future of Europe.

THIS IS WHAT SOME ROMANIANS ARE PREPARED TO DO FOR SERBIA:

A charity in Cluj-Napoca is ready to send Romanian volunteers in Kosovo to fight along with the Serbian army. The volunteers are ready to take any risks that their decision entails. The 'Sarmisegetuza' Foundation addressed a letter to the Serbian Ambassador in Bucharest, Dusan Crnogorcevici, asking him to inform the authorities in Belgrad of the willingness of certain members of the Foundation to 'fight, as volunteers, along with the Serbian army to ensure that the Serbian province of Kosovo remains a territory of Serbia'.
'We consider Kosovo a fortress of Christendom and of Western democracy in front of Muslim fundamentalism', reveals the letter addressed to the Serbian diplomat (via Mediafax).
The President of the Cultural Foundation 'Sarmisegetuza', Ionut Tene, declared yesterday to a MEDIAFAX correspondent that as of then seven volunteers had manifested their wish to fight along with Serbian soldiers for the sake of Kosovo. 'All over the country there are volunteers who trained in the military and are willing to fight along with the Serbs. This is a message of solidarity for the Serbian people on behalf of Romanians. As of now, at least seven Romanians are ready to enrol in the Serbian army, and understand all the risks derived from their decision', said Tene.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO FOR SERBIA?
You probably live in the West. UK, Scandinavia, France, maybe America. You probably think Serbia is far away, Kosovo is only small...and the like.
WELL, IT ISN'T.
Please use your resourcefulness in order to make the issue of Kosovo and the plight of the Serbian people known locally. Please also copy/paste this MEDIAFAX piece of news on as many sites as possible. It might set a valuable example!

Hello my name is Odyessus and I am a recovering leftist.

Once one of my heroes was Noam Chomsky, but now?

Watch this fascinating interview where Chomsky denounces the Nato intervention in Kosovo.
Despite regarding himself as a cutting edge liberal…. Or was that an anarcho-syndicalist?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYw8J3mpbzo&feature=related

This confirms what I have long suspected….essentially, that Chomsky doesn’t believe half the things he says.
If he was going to be honest he would admit that he regards “Islamism” as a totalitarian political system.

He states that most of the violence leading up to Nato intervention was caused by the KLA.
And then what an intervention! 78 days of bombing against the Serbs in which 13,000 sorties were flown by Nato aircraft.
And simultaneously, Clinton was aiding Turkey’s slaughter of the Kurds.

He mouthes several things including loathing for liberal intellectuals…. Is he speaking of himself?

Of course, he still wont abandon his central theses which is that the USA is the source of all the evil in the world. He knows that much of what he says untrue plus morally bankrupt but cannot admit it, even to himself.

His narcissism just seems too great.

He would probably denounce opposition to Muslim immigration while admitting that, on current trends, all of Europe is undergoing a “Balkanisation” which might lead to the downfall of Europe.

Why doesn’t he just call himself a Neocon or something?

Odyessus,

Chimpsky is well known apologists for all manner of totalitarian butchers. Google Chomsky & Khmer Rouge and you'll see the shameless man he is. His humanitarianism is of the type Stalin made famous: The death of one man is a tragedy, that of millions a statistic. His groupies and synchophant are unfortunately still haunting the academies and the leftist press. The man is a one-hit wonder in linguistics, something about generative grammar or other, which the computer people with their BNF notation had already thought of independently. On the strength of this, he is allowed to pollute the young minds at MIT, the brain of the military-industrial complex as it were. The ironies abound.

I keep reading/seeing the phrase: "ethnic Albanian" when discussing Kosovo. Okay. You're an "ethnic Albanian" - then emigrate to Albania and not try and force (with the help of ignorant western "leaders" like Bush and US Ambasador to UN under Clinton) to create an artificial state. Funny how we can push and shove around others for a phony country like "Kosovo" and do nothing for Tibet - a formerly independent and recognized as such country.
