Fort Dix attack plot suspects promoting jihad in jail

Of course, the government is "misrepresenting" the incident. When it comes to Islamic jihad activity and teachings, all non-Muslim analysts suffer a massive failure of understanding, a kind of collective stroke that keeps each and every one of them from interpretating texts and statements correctly. They completely fail to take into account the all-important context of the texts and statements in question -- you know, the secret circumstantial material that can render the command to beat disobedient women (Qur'an 4:34) as "give them a hug." They utterly ignore the exculpatory information that transforms "slay the unbelievers wherever you find them" (Qur'an 9:5) into "Hold mosque open houses and interfaith dialogues." They disregard it all in their craven desire to demonize Muslims. Don't you know that by now?

"U.S.: Fort Dix Attack Plot Suspects Promoting Terror in Jail," from AP (thanks to Morgaan Sinclair):

HADDONFIELD, New Jersey — Federal authorities say one of the men accused of planning an attack on soldiers at the Fort Dix army base gave another inmate in a federal detention center an Al Qaeda recruitment video and another wrote a note referring to the fight "we weren't able to finish."

The U.S. Attorney's Office made the allegations in a brief filed in U.S. District Court late Tuesday to oppose the suspects' request to be granted bail.

A lawyer for one of the men said the government is misrepresenting an incident in the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia.

The suspects contend that the detention center staff has not allowed them adequate access to evidence in the case against them as they prepare for trial. That is why they have asked a judge to either allow them to be free on bail or come up with alternate arrangements to allow them to review materials for the trial, which is scheduled to begin March 24.

The five men — all foreign-born Muslims in their 20s — were arrested in May and charged with conspiring to kill uniformed military personnel. Authorities said they planned to sneak onto Fort Dix, a base in New Jersey used primarily to train reservists for duty in Iraq and Afghanistan....

In the legal filing, the government said Mohamad Ibrahim Shnewer gave another inmate a copy of an Al Qaeda-produced DVD last month. Guards found the disc in a book in the detention center's law library.

Government lawyers said in the filing that "the fact the defendant Shnewer and, perhaps, his co-conspirators may be spreading jihadist recruitment videos to other inmates clearly raises grave security concerns for the warden, and, again, supports the reasonableness of continued administrative detention for these defendants."

Shnewer's lawyer, Rocco Cipparone, said Shnewer told him 10 days or so ago about the incident. But Cipparone said Shnewer did not give the other inmate the video. Rather, he said, Shnewer was upset that the man somehow got hold of evidence that only the defendants in the case were supposed to see.

The government also said that suspect Eljvir Duka and another inmate were passing notes.

In one note, the government said, Duka wrote, "Now you see why we were going to sacrifice all for the sake of Allah in jihad" and referred to the fight "we weren't able to finish."

The government said detention center staff confronted Duka about the notes. According to the filing, he acknowledged he was passing them but said they only dealt with "issues such as the quality of the food" behind bars.

Ah! Of course. When he wrote, "Now you see why we were going to sacrifice all for the sake of Allah in jihad," every enlightened observer knows that he meant, "Now you see why we were going to pass up that pork sausage lunch for the sake of Allah in jihad."

Why do inmates have a sense of privacy? How are these videos getting into the prison? Where do inmates view these videos? Do inmates have individual televisions complete with DVD players?
WTH?

Good questions miira. Why are these jihadists even in a civilian prison. They should be considered unlawful combatants, conducting military operations on our soil.
Notes about food? I bet they are loaded with coded messages. Why is it the prison system is smart about everything except muslims?

Why does our government continue to treat Islamic thugs like this as your average law breaker?

They are not average law breakers, they are terrorists, and their purpose is to destroy the very foundations of our democratic society.

They should be expelled from our country, along with their spouses, children, parents and siblings.

Every Muslim family in our country should understand that they will be treated differently, because they act differently.

Thugs like this wouldn't fall prey to Jihadist recruiters if their families didn't lay the groundwork for the recruiters. Something's going on in Muslim families that encourage, if not just allow, their children to identify with Jihadist ideology.

Maybe if Muslim family members understood that they must pay a price for failing to raise children who are loyal to our American ideals and principles, they might be a lot more careful about the ideas that are expressed in their homes and Mosques.

This kind of disloyal and murderous behavior starts in families, not just reading terrorist literature, and the families should be held responsible.

Maybe the prospect of ending up in some primitive, dusty, Pakistani town, instead of a modern ,sqeaky clean American subburb, might have the desired effect.

How would an inmate have an al qaeda recruitment tape to give in the first place!?

Where did this asswipe get a video to hand out?

And exile is not being used for such folk because
of what reason?

Spreading jihadist recruitment with a simple video?
Why bother?
Just give them all Qurans and watch the jihadist line up.
That book itself is the jihadist recruitment tool.

This is being addressed on 'Your World with Neil Cavuto' at this time.

The guest has explained why people like these should NOT be held in U.S. prisons, but rather, at Gitmo.

Too short, though. Can't let a news story trump an Erectile Dysfunction commercial.

Dumbass Cavuto ... sorry we're pressed for time (right in the middle of his guests' point) ... what a way to treat a guest, Neil.

That's the last time I watch that crap.

duh-swami -
On November 29 this year Robert posted an article about some jihad plotters in Germany who were using code words. e.g. 'take this dough and use it to get married' meant 'take this explosive and use it to conduct a suicide murder'. If someone was 'sick' it meant he'd been arrested.

I hope Infidel prison wardens and those who monitor prisoners' communications, are awake up to this sort of thing.

Ah, again these secular Kosovo Albanian muslims...
