Mark Steyn as American anti-dhimmi of the year?
You are certainly welcome to borrow him for this noble purpose, just return his Canadian passport. BTW - I know he lives in New Hampshire.

Robert:
It's a shame that you did not include Christopher Hitchens on that list. I would have considered giving him the nod.

Kafir
As always, I included the six people who were most often nominated.
Cordially
Robert Spencer

Hitchens should have been nominated. Too bad that somehow, he wasn't on our mind.

I think it's a great list. Someone talk me to a decision. I never thought I might vote for Savage but his CAIR lawsuit is genius. Someone gets the whole legal jihad thing, even if he is - ahem - eccentric in other ways. Steyn is a poster child for the future of free expression. Will we enforce Islamic blasphemy laws ("insulting Islam" and the like) under the guise of racism and human rights law?
Sultan and Gabriel?
Emerson?
That's a list of heavy hitters.

Brigitte Gabriel, hands down.
Wafa Sultan is also fabulous. But, if you have heard Gabriel talk - takes no prisoners.
For Christmas presents, I've given Gabriel's book and Steyn's book and Spencer's recent book. Merry Christmas!

Hitchens calls the Koran "obvious plagiarism," which is good, but he's also an atheist. Not good.

I'm voting for Brigitte Gabriel for American anti-dhimmi. She started the group, ACT, this year, a resistance and pro-active organization to combat Jihad head on. She has some very interesting ideas that will affect the coming presidential election here in the states. Anyone wanting to find out more, go to

One write-in vote for Robert Spencer.
The others I read now and then. Robert, I read every day.
I read Hugh too...when I have the time...lots and lots of time.

You're right. It's Spencer the winner, no doubt. For books, and for Jihad Watch.

I nominated Mark Steyn as an "International" anti-dhimmi, as well as supported Michael Savage for the "American" award. Seeing as how they're both on the "American" ballot, I'll have to go with Mark Steyn.

I had to go with Brigitte Gabriel this year. They are all worthy people, (I think of Emerson as the one who got this whole ball rolling before anyone else was even awake to it), but Gabrielle seems to have come farther faster in her efforts during 2007. So she's my pick.

Still think it should be John Doe.
this guy has front line problems and will not back down.
Plus he's as American as they come!!!!

What?, no David Horowitz?, organizer of the noted Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, which our very own intrepid "Islamic scholar" Robert Spencer, thanklessly and dutifully partook in?, knowing the resistence that they had received from the rabid left, Islamic apologists and jihadists alike?
Curious, indeed.
The other three categories were rightfully spot on, but I am troubled that Dhimmi Carter is garnishing enough votes to win again, letting Condi and ultimately, the current administration off the hook, essentially.

I agree with Elric...LOL. Fighting Fascism in ALL its forms?
I thought dhimmitude only had to do in relation to Islam, specifically.
Maybe I was wrong??

Steyn might be Canadian by birth, but I'm fairly certain that he has American citizenship.

I forgot all about Charles Johnson, maybe he should have be given a Dhimmi nomination. Then again he's point of view seems to be based more off an anti-European bias then a pro-Islamic one, and I'm not sure if that still counts has Dhimmitude.

For me it was a tossup between Mark Steyn and Brigitte Gabriel. Both of their books were outstanding, by the way. But, I chose Mark Steyn because I think it is harder for him to be taken seriously, as opposed to Ms. Gabriel, who has the advantage of having lived under Islamic rule and whom everyone is captivated by. Mr. Steyn gets more mockery tossed his way by our dhimmi crowd. On the other hand, I am sure that Ms. Gabriel gets regular death threats from the usual knuckledraggers.

You make a good point on this. Forgot about David. He's such a stalwart that maybe we take him for granted. Along with Spencer and several others, including Dr. Bostom, one of America's truly important intellectuals.

Once upon a time, when Communism was a threat, Arthur Koestler told Ignazio Silone that the final battle would be between Communists and ex-Communists. He was not exactly right, as it happens; but without the testimony of people who have been there, seen it, and smelled the coffee, it is likely enough that Communism would not have lost all the esteem it did down the decades, and would have survived. Therefore, Brigitte Gabriel. She's been in the valley of the shadow of death and knows what it is like; and she has had the courage to reject all the justifications and excuses and half-measures, and come out on the other side, into the sunlight. To those of us who are born free, it is comparatively easy to stand up for liberty; but if you are born in slavery, it is a different story.

One more point on Charles Johnson and his fight against fascism in all real and/or imaginary forms, we Europeans whom he warns repeatedly against are translating and publishing booklets like this:
http://www.terrorismawareness.org/files/NaziRoots.pdf
Now, does publishing this constitute 'neo-fascism'? Or is it 'standing up for Israel and the Jews'?
I really hope the latter is the case. If I'm mistaken, the time and money spend on the project has been quite a waste...
Merry Christmas everyone :)

A vote for Mark Steyn, provided he doesn't mind us Americans claiming him as one of our own.
Considering his being dragged into court by the Canadian Islamic Congress on ludicrous "hate-crime" charges, New Hampshire may be looking better all the time.
The other nominees are also excellent, but in my opinion Steyn deserves the honor on the basis of "America Alone" alone.

Each of the above contenders are winners in their own way. Western civilization should be grateful for all their contributions towards an Anti-Dhimmi world.
