Jihadists behind Algiers bombings had been freed in amnesty

An update on this story. "'Freed terrorists behind U.N. bomb'," from the Associated Press:

ALGIERS, Algeria (AP) -- Two convicted terrorists who had been freed in an amnesty carried out the suicide bombings at U.N. and government buildings that killed 37 people, an Algerian security official has said.
Rescuers in the shaken city Thursday were still extracting the living and the dead from the crumpled remains of U.N. offices in Algiers that were bombed by al-Qaeda's self-styled North African affiliate.
Victims caught in Tuesday's twin truck bombings, which happened 10 minutes apart, included U.N. staff from around the world, police officers and law students.
One of the bombers was a 64-year-old man in the advanced stages of cancer, while the other was a 32-year-old from a poor suburb that has produced many Islamic militants, the security official said Thursday on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.
The government has offered amnesties to try to end a 15-year Islamic insurgency, resulting in thousands of militants turning themselves in, but sparking fierce criticism from the families of victims.

And Tuesday's bombings demonstrate precisely why.

"UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, urged all nations on Wednesday to stand united against terrorism, calling it the 'scourge of our times.'"

As long as international figures like the Secretary-General are loathe to refer to "Islamic terrorism," which accounts for about 98% of the terrorist acts committed across the world, we will be no closer to ridding the earth of Islamic fruitcakes who want things their way or no way. The stupid, idiotic, lethally politically correct game continues. Thanks politically correct folks. Thanks Islam. Thanks Mohammed.

Anybody still wonder why Gitmo is necessary?

Anybody still wonder why Gitmo is necessary?

IFL,

Only those at the Kos and the HuffPo, and reasonable ideological facsimiles it seems. But then again what difference does Gitmo make if Bush is just going to turn them over to Saudi Arabia for "re-integration" after a six-week course on what Islam "really is".

What a sad, sad, sad state of affairs it all is.

Give them an inch and they take your life. It might be a wise idea to stop giving these people inches...

We can be reasonably certain that some of the soon to be released Gitmo detainees will follow the same course of action. nothing will make them happier than the opportunity to rejoin the Jihad. It would not surprise me at all if former Gitmo detainees are participants in the next terror attack on American soil. It would make us look so stupid, it seems to good for them to resist. Of course the PC police will blame America for locking them up in the first place.

Except they've been cutting the thugs loose at Gitmo as well. Of course a 64 year old, cancer-ridden man would have no reason to strap on a bomb vest. Oh no he wouldn't. Especially if you load him up on morphine to make his journey to "72 heaven" easier.

You will note, of course, the one big, huge, inescapably gigantic, lie in AP's report; the complete distortion of the truth, the pandering to the islamist view of history - a view that is completely and irrevocably divorced from any fact whatsoever - won't you?

Oops, you didn't notice it. OK, so easy to miss I suppose, so here it is:

"Algeria's insurgency broke out in the early 1990s, when the army canceled the second round of the country's first multiparty elections to prevent likely victory by an Islamic fundamentalist party..."

Uh! 'Scuse me? No. Definitely no! There was never any chance that the fundamentalists could, would or had won. There was every chance that they were going to take over by force of arms! There was no chance that on their percentage of the vote they could claim that they had won.

This year, on a turn-out of some sixty per-cent of the electorate (significantly higher than any turn-out achieved in the USA in recent years - but well below average turnouts in elections in the European democracies) the Algerian electorate convincingly and overwhelmingly voted for what we in the West would regard in these debased times as moderate parties - not a single fundamentalist party that could be deemed a threat won a seat ('though that's only my opinion)!

So, AP are telling lies - presumably deliberately!

Here is a link to the 2007 Algerian election figures (as given by Wikipedia); when reading them bear in mind that the USA, the EU, the Republic of China and thirty-seven other countries, monitored these elections and pronounced them reasonably free and fair:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics_of_Algeria

So, who to trust? Devious, slanted, incapable of telling a lie, or the truth, AP or devious, slanted, more than probably inaccurate Wikipedia. Hmmmm! Such a difficult choice!

I know who I would trust - everytime.

Of course, you can always check AP's lies against the CIA Factbook at:

https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/ag.html#Govt :

election results: National People's Assembly - percent of vote by party - FLN 23%, RND 10.3%, MSP 9.6%, PT 5.1%, RCD 3.4%, FNA 4.2%, other 34.6%, independents 9.8%; seats by party - FLN 136, RND 61, MSP 52, PT 26, RCD 19, FNA 13, other 49, independents 33; Council of Nations - percent of vote by party - NA; seats by party - FLN 29, RND 12, MSP 3, RCD 1, independents 3, presidential appointees (unknown affiliation) 24

But we all know the old adage, don't we? Never let the truth stand in the way of good story. Something AP are really good at - never letting the truth get in the way, that is.

OliverPCamford, it is not just the west that cannot see that it is extremism in islam that is causing this horrendous mischief the world over.

According to Le Jour d'Algérie the official newspaper of the Algerian government:

De son côté, Cheikh Youssuf Al-Qaradaoui a vivement condamné le double attentat d’Alger qu’il a qualifié de «massacre barbare».

Just in from Sheik Youssuf Al-Qaradawi a strong condemnation of the double attack in Algiers which qualifies as a massacre by infidels.

Also, it reports:

Pour ce qui est de l’Association des anciens du Mouvement des scouts musulmans algériens (SMA), elle a appelé les citoyens à faire don de leur sang et de se rendre aux hôpitaux pour prêter main forte aux blessés et aux familles des victimes...

For those who are members of the historic Association of Algerian Muslim boy scouts, you have been called by members to report to hospitals and give blood and lend a helping hand to the victims...

Algeria fails to identify the terrorist culprits as other than by the secular term terrorists. They are not identified as intolerant muslims trying to take over Algeria from a secular government, because allah told them to.

Muslim Algerians lamely claim that the people trying to take over Algerian society in which hundreds of thousands have been murdered over the past thirty years, are "terrorists" as if a group of humans has spontaneously worldwide embraced a new ideology called "terrorism" that is insisting on taking over the globe.

We need to demand that the muslim world explain what is happening in Algeria? The usual excuses of Zionist plots and other pathetic hallucinatory machinations will not fit here even for the those who are already masters of deceit.
