Those flights between Pakistan and airports in Great Birtain need to be stopped. In fact, Pakistanis should no longer be admitted to Great Britain, and resumed, under much stricter and more onerous controls. only when Rauf is found, and arrives back in Great Britain. In making a point, that would constitate a start.

In the link you posted for Rashid in the earlier thread, it describes him as being a "key person" in the plot to blow up multiple airliners bound for the US. I remeber the arrests and the media coverage they caused. According to the reports, they were just days away from carrying out the attack. I have to wonder if this will now jeopordize the prosecution of the rest of those arrested for the plot.

I also can't help thinking about how many times Ramsey Yousef, the "key person" behind the bojinka plot got away before here finaly bombed the twin towers in 93.

This is not good news. I'm sure he feels he won and is further empowered by his "escape".

To put it quiet simply what the hell do you expect. I lived in Pakistan the land of the pure 30 years ago for several months. The police men who will be investigating this will get a nice big bung (Bribe for the American reader) to muddy the water. they will give a plausible reason why it happened. You know the old saying about the Golden rule he who has the gold makes the rules. We in the west don't understand, and if we do, wont accept it, that the whole f**king place is a mixture of tribal animosities. These tribe have a treasure chest filled by remittances from the west which is used to buy each other off. If the Brits want to waste there time and money (I am a Brit myself by the way) let them. If the foreign office send some snotty nosed Phd in islamic studies, even if he understands Islam the way most of us here do he is still going to lose his way, because he has learned his ethics and morals in the west. If they are going to send anyone send a city banker they know how the market works . Fear and Greed the proverbial carrot and the stick. Preferable more of the stick than the carrot. From personal experience these people cannot understand how ever difficult it is for the readers of this column why anyone doesn't want to become a muslim and more importantly a member of there tribe. The only thing they understand is naked force. The problem is that even if they understand that, they might not be influenced by it because their religion promises them 72 virgins if they die. If people have conquered the fear of death then they have conquered the fear of of you and your stick. This concept doesn't seem have got through to the gentlemen in foggy bottom, or the White House. Can you hear me over there, if Iran gets the bomb they will use it. The other problem is that since we, the Brits gave them Independence 1947 we in the West have no legal means of imposing its will. My own personal opinion is to leave them as thy are, let them stew in there own juice. We the Brits have fought three wars against these idiots, basically lost ever one. The only time we have ever been affective in this area was when we delegated control to a gentleman called, John Nicholson. He was a brigadier general and died at the age of 34 during the assault on Delhi in 1857. if any of you want to read about this gentleman you can do it on my Blogg or better still down load a book over the gentleman from Gutenberg.org. The book by the way may seem to be somewhat simplistic but remember that his simplistic attitude brought peace and the rule of law to areas that were controlled by, and still are by the Taliban. In present day Pakistan.

The BBC says that terror charges laid against him in Pakistan were dropped a month ago and he is now wanted for the murder of an uncle.
It looks to me that it is the Pakistanis who have decided, to their own satisfaction, that there was not enough evidence to connect him to the airliner plot.

Do I not remember the sequence as this:
* British law enforcement were watching him, including in Pakistan
* Pakistani law enforcement arrest him prematurely
* British panic as they suddenly had to arrest the rest of the crowd without having planned how to get them all in one swoop.

And now the Pakistanis let the ringleader go. That is how Islamic "justice" works, and surely is what was intended all the time.

Cynical? No! Until we can face up to naming our enemy, we cannot get on with fighting it.

You might have missed it but within the last month a BBC documentary covering the Indian Mutiny described John Nicholson as “Anglo-Irish” and a psychopath. Anglo-Irish is BBC speak for not really Irish and a protestant, therefore British, therefore feel guilty about him.

The BBC did not bother to mention that for all that his Indian soldiers worshiped as a god in his own lifetime. This was to his considerable embarrassment as he was a serious Christian. Nor did they mention a town was named after him and when the authorities set about changing all British place names a few years ago they had to back off on this one in the face of public protests.

they called him a psychopath did they, those walllies at the BBC wouldn't know one if he got up and bit them in A**e. If he was a Psychopath so were all the other British Generals,who fought for good Queen Vic. It doesn't suit there view of the world so they have to give a reason for it. In there view Sherman would be a psychopath because of the destruction he cause on his stroll from Atlanta to the sea. Good old Paddy Gough would certainly be classed as a psychopath in there eyes when he literally slaughtered thousands of Sikhs in the Suttlei river after the Battle of Soberan in the first Sikh War 1842. There was always a decent size butchers bill when the affable Paddy went too war, but psychopath he certainly was not, and Neither was Nicholson. There has certainly been speculation that he was a closet gay, and there might be some truth in that. What Nicholson had, was a towering will, he also had something else a charisma, and a dominant personality. It is not many Generals that have a religious sect following them round worshiping them, imagine the Desert Rats getting down on there knees and worshiping Monty. He certainly knew how to handle the inhabitants of the land of the Pure, however much you might decry his methods they worked. I am sorry I didn't see the television program, it is just a well because I might have been fuming after the first couple of minutes. They called the program the Indian Mutiny did they, I am surprised that those milksops at the BBC didn't call it the first war of Indian independence.

there are two pakistans.
one is the fantasy pakistan that is known to the west(and east): of smiling friendly politicians and media people who only want the best for their people just like as in the west. of attractive and talented muscians and actors, who seem like any other bollywood types.

second is the real pakistan: of islam loving sectarians who want all other sects and religions dead. who support the murder of all infidals whether in india or in afghanistan or inside pakistan. who want sharia laws to be the supreme law of the land. who really likes the taliban and think they are very good muslims. who wants to be admired by the arab muslims.
