Syrian Muslim cleric name-drops Lyndon LaRouche, says Ben Franklin wanted Jews deported

Sheikh Muhammad Sa'id Ramadan Al-Buti is the author of Jihad: How to Understand and Practice It, which I discuss at some length in my book Islam Unveiled. Here he manifests the jihad/loony convergence by naming fringe cultish pol Lyndon LaRouche, whose programmed minions serenaded me about being in league with Dick Cheney after my talk at the Heritage Foundation in 2006, and by dredging up a fictional antisemitic Ben Franklin speech. Here again: jihadists and their allies just can't defend their views in light of reality, so they constantly retreat into fantasy.

"Syrian Cleric Muhammad Sa'id Ramadhan Al-Bouti: Benjamin Franklin Called upon Americans to Deport Jews from the U.S.," from MEMRITV:

Following is an excerpt from a public address delivered by Syrian cleric Muhammad Sa'id Ramadhan Al-Bouti, which aired on Al-Jazeera TV on December 10, 2007:

Muhammad Sa'id Ramadhan Al-Bouti: We have no interest in war. We all dream about peace. But it is Israel that fans the flames of war, like Lyndon LaRouche said yesterday. I would like to conclude my speech by quoting the will that Benjamin Franklin read out loud to his American "sons" – but the sons and grandsons have torn this will to shreds. In a speech that Benjamin Franklin delivered at the committee for the drafting of the U.S. constitution in 1789, he warned the committee, and the Americans in general, of the Jewish danger for America and the world. Let me read his speech to you, translated into Arabic.

There is a great danger threatening the United States of America. That danger is the Jewish danger. Gentlemen, in whichever land the Jews have settled, they have corrupted the morals, and lowered the level of commercial honesty. They always isolate themselves and never mix with others. Because of their feelings of persecution, they always attempt to choke the nations economically, like they did to Portugal and Spain. Since 1700 [sic.], they have been lamenting their fate. But gentlemen, if the world were to give them Palestine, which they claim along with other property, they would soon find a reason to start lamenting their fate once again. How come? Because they are vermin – he was referring to grave-dwellers who leave their tombs to suck the blood of others. They cannot live among their own kind. They live at the expense of Christians and others who do not belong to their race. If they are not deported from the United States by the Constitution, within a century they will be streaming into our country in such large numbers that will enable them to rule the country, destroy us, and change the form of government for which we Americans shed our blood, and for which we have sacrificed our lives, our property, and our personal freedom. If we do not deport the Jews, our children will become, within 200 years, field laborers working to feed the Jews, while the Jews will stay in the banks, gleefully rubbing their hands. I warn you, gentlemen, that if you do not deport the Jews once and for all, your children and grandchildren will curse you in your graves. The values of the Jews are not the same as those of the Americans, and they will not be the same even if they live among us for ten generations. A leopard cannot change its spots. The Jews will pose a danger to this country, if they are allowed in. They will destroy our institutions.

I think I can declare this truth openly. I do not live in Germany or Europe, and so I do not need to whisper these things. We are in a country from which we want to declare who is the number one enemy lying in wait for world peace. Thank you, and may God be with you.

There's a Projection Alert above, when he starts talking about threats to world peace.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought this was one of many fake quotes that never happened. And if it's a fake quote, I find nothing so offensive than putting words into one of the greatest American's mouth to ever live. That is WORSE than naming a teddy bear the wrong name, or putting a flag on a football.
But it's like a post this site added in the last week about how little books get translated into Arabic. But they seem to have no problem giving everyone a copy of Mein Kampf and others eh?

Someone should tell this cleric that when they talk about deportations in Europe today, or elsewhere, they don't mean jews!
Maybe whoever monitors this site can pass that on.

Being familiar with Ben Franklin's writings both as himself and various pseudonyms, and considering his Freemasonry, it doesn't track that he would be antisemitic. He wasn't.

But that hasn't stopped this fraud from making it around the world and back several times.

Posted by: Beagle [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 17, 2007 5:44 PM

LaRouche is an embarrassment to the USA. And as far as the immam using a phony speech by Franklin, no surprise there, they still believe in the "The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion." Come on antisemites, if you have a problem with the Jews then at least stand on your own feet and say so, quit using such patently false pamphlets and speeches. Oh, that's right, they follow the same philosophy as the muslims, find a lie and never let go.

Posted by: Kevin [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 17, 2007 5:45 PM

I had read of an antisemitic Franklin quote and thought, "Well, I guess one of the founding fathers saw evil in the Jews." The ADL pages indicates this is wholly untrue -- a complete fabrication, as stated by the Franklin Institute and as suggested by the use of words ("homeland," for example) that would have come from the Nazi Party in the 1930s, but not from Franklin, who even contributed to the building of a synagogue in Philadelphia.

Ah, but what does the truth mean to the intellectually slovenly Al-Buti? He would be unable to escape Islam even if it occurred to him to leave.

Posted by: StillBreathing [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 17, 2007 5:46 PM

Everyone take note. The man, Al-Buti, who here on Al-Jazeera TV presents a revolting, a ghastly anti-semitic forgery as gospel truth - who with a straight face slanders both Benjamin Franklin, and the Jews - was one of those 138 'scholars' *spit* who signed off on the 'Letter from the Muslims to the Christians' not so very long ago.

This fact alone should suffice to give any serious Christian pause. Any letter, any statement, that such a 'scholar' signs his name to, should not be dignified with a reply. It is not worthy to be used even for toilet paper, or to line the cat's litter tray - just put it straight in the fire.

I will add, on the topic of the '138 "scholars"', that as I have been reading through the jihadwatch archives, I came across mention of yet another of the 138, namely, the German convert, Murad Hoffmann. I reproduce the posting in full:

"You German guys.....?and all, check out this guy, Dr. Mohad Hoffman.?aka or correctly, Dr. Murad Hoffman
http://www.geocities.com/embracing_islam/islam_in_the_west.html
I found him on a streaming TV station in the country Bahrain speaking to a large group of Muslim leaders, as well as the link above.
He is a German, and a Muslim, which....no big deal,?But the rhetoric is extremely interesting.
He is a Harvard grad, and his message is that the?Godless secular west....USA etc who caused ww2 WW1, Stalinism, sexual depravity, and more....has now targeted Islam.
He preaches that the Muslims have no choice but to advance globally, or they will be eliminated.? He says that the west has totally abandoned God, and if allowed to live they will forbid Allah etc etc.
He also says that the only hope is to convert or destroy the west. If conversion is possible it can only happen by way of the Liberal or Progressive American.
Now, I'm not skilled in cyphering all this krap, but it seems to me that the guy is a provocateur, who is filling the Muslim world with as much fear of the west as the west has for them right now.
It wouldn't arouse my conspiracy ilk so much, but, he's no dummy, and he is no Arab." - tom thumb 30.11.06

So: al-Buti and Murad Hoffman, birds of a feather.

I strongly recommend that all jihadwatchers who have the time run searches on every one of the 138 signatories in that 'a common word' letter from Muslims to Christians. So far I've discovered any number of snakes in the grass.

If your priest, bishop etc has expressed enthusiasm for that infernal 'Muslim letter', do please share with him - or her - this information that MEMRI has found and Robert has shared with us, and let them know that Al-Buti, here approvingly reproducing a poisonous little antisemitic propaganda text that first saw the light in the 1930s, possibly from Nazi sources, was one of the signatories.

Oh yeah, that was when Franklin was warning Jefferson about the Jewish Barbary Coast pirates cleverly disguised as muslims... will their trickery never end?

Posted by: RalphInfidel [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 17, 2007 5:58 PM

Boy, they sure have issues!

14 million Jews in the world and they cause all the problems for the 1.4 gazillion Muslims? Those poor Muslims who are unable to wage jihad and rape infidel women properly just because we don't give them the 'right' weapons?

Sometimes I wonder if there is an asylum big enough to contain these fanatical zombies. You'd think its only the illiterate, primitive types that fall for it, but when you take a closer look it turns out its the privileged, educated lot who are fanatical enough to drive a gas-bottle filled car into Glasgow airport or fly jumbo jets into buildings.

And there is nothing and no one in our respective governments, not one 'leader' who shows any sign of understanding, someone able to come out and say 'lets pull the plug, no more aid, no more support for these parasites' and starts making sense.

Depressing. But I have something to crack you up:

"...if the world were to give them Palestine, which they claim along with other property...", allegedly said by Ben Franklin, but modern Zionism didn't get going until many years later, so it's unlikely that this would have been an issue in Franklin's day.
LaRouche also accuses Queen Elizabeth of being a drug dealer. I once tried to read a book he had written, and actually found it very interesting, from a clinical point of view. I found it so prepostrous and disorganized, that it actually gave me brief hope that someday I, too, could found a cult and dupe people out of their money.
Syria is not only a member of the Axis of Evil, it is also a member of the Axis of Stupidity, along with LaRouche.
Off topic, but there's a good video on FoxNews.com of an inteview with a CAIR spokesman about the Toronto honor killing, featuring all the usual claims of unislamic behavior, etc. I think I've seen that movie before.

How conveniently does this Sheikh Al-Buti distort his own spurious source, which reads thus: "...if the civilized world today should give them back Palestine and their property, they would immediately find pressing reason for not returning there."

This is a telling anachronism itself, for I seriously doubt Franklin would ever refer to "Palestine."

I thought the same thing. I was sure the quote was meant to have been about muslims! It sure describes them to a T.

Posted by: ImNoDhimmi [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 17, 2007 6:23 PM

Not only that but I don't think Ben Franklin used the phrase 'How come'? He may have used 'Whyzat'? a few times but probably not 'how come?
At any rate I think it is just some more Islamic BS to put words of hate into the mouth of an American president. If Ben was alive he could probably sue for that...I wonder if it is possible to sue in his behalf?

Posted by: duh_swami [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 17, 2007 6:36 PM

The quote attributed to Ben Franklin by delighted antisemites is a fabrication. No doubt there are many other such "quotes" circulating in those circles.

Nor, of course, are antisemites the only creaters of false quotations or stories. There is the Donation of Constantine. The Zimmermann Telegram. The Zinoviev Letter. Und so weiter, to the end of time. One fully expects, any minute now, to see a "letter" in Aramaic -- or possibly even Arabic -- attributed to Jesus himself, in which Jesus explains that he is a disciple of "the one who is to come, the Prophet of Arabia" -- a "letter" that, no doubt, will be enthusiastically spread all over the Umma.

In parts of sub-Saharan Africa, one runs into those who are convinced that Beethoven, Abraham Lincoln, and many other figures famous in the West are black, and white people are trying, so far successfully, to hide the truth.

There is no end to this.

His speech looks almost like it was copied from a posting (or a combination of postings) here on JW, only with the dates changed, and "Jews" substituted for "Moslems", except for the part about Lyndon LaRouche. I can't recall anyone mentioning him in these pages before.
But now that he has been mentioned, I remember that the Feds prosecuted and jailed him and quite a number of his followers. That, together with the legal action taken against the scientologists, might serve as examples of how to use existing laws against the Islamic threat.

... "convinced that Beethoven [was] black"

What's your point? Did he or did he not have soul?

Posted by: StillBreathing [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 17, 2007 7:26 PM

This one really makes me angry. I mean I'm damn mad. Benjamin Franklin is one of the greatest human beings who ever lived. It's even possible to argue that he summons up in one person, more than any other single individual, all the best Western Civilization has produced from ancient Greece onwards. For this vile lie to be perpetrated by such inferiors as this Islamic nutjob, or those morons who think Lyndon LaRouche has anything to say, just makes me sick.

Here's what Carl Van Dorn, who wrote his magnificent biography of Franklin in the late 1930s, had to say about this matter on page 745 of his Pulitzer Prize winning work: "Of course he (Franklin) did not make the speech against the Jews which was impudently forged and maliciously ascribed to him in 1934." Notice, by the way, that Van Dorn knew quite early on what a piece of garbage all this was.

I'm really ticked. I rarely get this hot under the collar but I'm incensed. Is there no stupidity, no awfulness that some Muslims won't descend to to maliciously castigate the Jews? From "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion," to referring to Jews as pigs and monkeys, to sullying the reputation of a great man like Franklin, all to inspire more hate against Jews, it seems there is nothing that the sickos in the Islamic world (and they come in bunches) won't do to spread their pathetic venom for a people who have already suffered far, far enough over the centuries. Hey, all you moderate Muslims out there, are you going to hide again? Condemn this calumny forthwith or forfeit even more what little regard is left for your faith, one that I am growing exceedingly tired of, and quickly. Hey, did I mention I was angry?

Hugh, there are a lot of people here in the U.S. who say the same thing. Remember the Afro-centric hoopla of a decade or so ago? That said all the science, art, mathematics, and learning of ancient Greece were actually stolen by the Greeks from Egypt -- which was presented as part of black Africa -- and passed off as their own original work. One Afro-centric "scholar" claimed that Aristotle learned all he knew from studying at the Library in Alexandria, i.e. from the Africans, because Alexandria is in Egypt, and Egypt is in Africa. At one debate I saw, when a real classical scholar pointed out that Aristotle was already dead by the time the Library was founded, and that the Library was established by the Greek rulers of Egypt, she was met by a barrage of threats and abuse similar to those received by Robert and others like David Horowitz when they point out the Islamic danger.

Posted by: ebonystone [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 17, 2007 7:43 PM

ebonystone and Hugh: Just to add to your comments, I once (back in the 1980s) had a discussion in Philadelphia with some black guys selling incense and dressed in Islamic robes. Putting aside for the moment their obvious disdain for me, I queried them about their beliefs and found out they were followers of the descendent of the Mahdi, of Sudan fame in the late nineteenth century, whose forces dispatched General Gordon and who General Kitchner went after in the late 1890s. Anyway, they told me that Arabic was the oldest written language on earth and that Mohammed was black. When I contradicted them by indicating that ancient Egyptian, Sumerian and Sanskrit were just some languages that far pre-date any Arabic script and that Mohammed was Caucasian, they were incredulous and hostile. One of them asked how I knew what I maintained and when I said that a myriad of sources could be consulted, from the Encylopedia Britannica to the Columbia Encyclopedia, they dismissed me by saying such sources were not reliable because they were written by white men. Hmmm, I thought, racism escapes no race. Those poor bastards were destined to go to their graves and never know the world. Their loss, not mine.

Posted by: Wellington [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 17, 2007 8:03 PM

Lyndon LaRouche is about the "assertion" and "commitment" to beliefs. He's an example of how a strong ego-self-image is not necessarily a sign a healthy mind. LaRouche is almost immune to the use of reason and self-criticism of his beliefs (which do have consequences).

Jim Baker (the Televangelist) ended up in the same Federal prison with LaRouche. He had numerous conversations with LaRouche. He was asked by a reporter if he thought LaRouche is paranoid (delusions of grandeur-persecution). Baker answered: "To say that Lyndon is paranoid is like saying the Titanic had a small leak".

Islam has a lot of leaks. The permissions to deception in Islam warp the ability to think logically. Deception warps perception. It's why Fibrihim Hooper lies and why he didn't quickly see through the Reverend Jim Nutter-a small scale LaRouche.

You may have in mind Bernal's (not J.D. the eminent scientist and cracked marxist, but Martin) "Black Athena," which is the most reputable example of the genre. The two parts are: 1) the Greeks owe practically everything to the ancient Egyptians and 2) the ancient Egyptians were black Africans and therefore...you can fill in the last part yourself.

Wow, that Franklin was truly a man ahead of his time. Why, the language even reads like it came right out of the 20th century, not the 18th. Of course, it could be something quirky in the English to Arabic and back to English translation process since strangely enough, Arabic to English translations of the koran seem to come out as a bad imitation of 17th century English. Somehow, though, this quote seems to lack Franklin's customary humor -- unless it's that little inside joke about corrupted morals. I guess the cleric isn't familiar with some of the more, er, colorful aspects of Franklin's personal life.

Now for an exercise in futility, trying imagining the muslim world producing a Franklin.

Posted by: CJ [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 17, 2007 8:57 PM

Ben Franklin was one of the finest men produced by the West.

It is risible to see him being slandered by the islamaniacs in these assertions made of hole cloth.

What scum.

No concept of truth or decency.

Posted by: dgene [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 17, 2007 9:00 PM

The projection alert was sounded from the beginning of his "translation". He was speaking about the Muslims and Islam the entire time, warning us of the danger to any Western country that continues to let them in.

Posted by: PMK [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 17, 2007 9:16 PM

CJ,
No point in analyzing the grammar and usage of this Franklin "quote". Point out the inconsistencies and all the guy has to say is he updated the terminology for his 21st century readership. Don't forget we're reading the modern English translation of the modern Arabic translation of a supposed 18th century English document. That's their story and they'll stick to it.

Posted by: PMK [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 17, 2007 9:24 PM

Ben Franklin often wrote playfully. That's a scary tract of venom, something he detested as a matter of principle. Franklin was a leading figure in the new commercial nobility, an expert on electricity, and he expounded the new theories of religious tolerance (Locke and such). Everything about the man precluded him writing something that vile.

Ben Franklin had personal failings, especially with his family, but his relgious tolerance bona fides have never been seriously questioned.

Sometimes Franklin had attributed good things to him. There were those who assumed that Franklin was the author of the anonymous "Common Sense." Thomas Paine, who did so much between January and July of 1776 to change public opinion in the colonies, seldom got credit for what he did. His "The Rights of Man" was the first book that he wrote under his real name. It was natural that some Europeans would give Franklin, whose name was so well known in Europe, credit that belonged to Paine.

For more on the misattribution, by Radishchev and others in Russia, of Paine's work to Franklin, see the articles by Klara Rukshina, one of the world's great authorities on Paine.

..............................

And yet it sounds so much like Franklin's clear prose! sarc/

Imagine quoting Lyndon Larouch to gain credibility. This is a figure who thinks that Britain's Queen Elizabeth is the world's largest drug dealer and that the Beatles were created by something called "the British Psychological Warfare Division".

Larouch is quite an anti-Semite himself. He is something of a Holocaust denier, and has claimed that American Jews control organized crime, the slave trade and the drug trade (I guess they are working with the Queen on that one.)

He also claimed that the infamous Tsarist forgery "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion" contained "a hard kernal of truth".

Oddly, just this afternoon I had to move a stack of Larouche's latest tracts from a bus bench in downtown Oakland. His themes don't seem to have changed much--rants against the British royal family, Dick Cheney, and predictions of assorted economic dooms, lavishly illustrated with unreadable graphs and charts.

I wish we could dismiss such lunacy out of hand, but I'm sure there are some who will believe al-Buti and this absurd Franklin forgery.
