Over the years we have posted many studies that show that not only does poverty not lead to terrorist activity, but that jihad terrorists are generally better educated and wealthier than their peers. Here's another: "Evidence about the Link Between Education, Poverty and Terrorism among Palestinians," by Claude Berrebi of the RAND Corporation (thanks to Warren). The abstract:
This paper investigates the ways in which terrorism is linked to education and poverty using data newly culled from Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) documentary sources. The paper presents a statistical analysis of the determinants of participation in terrorist activities by members of the Hamas and PIJ between the late 1980s and May 2002. The resulting evidence suggests that both higher education and standard of living are positively associated with participation in Hamas or PIJ and with becoming a suicide bomber, while being married significantly reduces the probability of participation in terrorist activities.

So the better educationed ones become terrorists and the rest get married?
Does not say much for the Palestinian school system.

Allah is more clever than we think. Allah knows that the primitive intellect functions best in the arenas of sex and/or violence. So to calm the savage breast of muslims, Allah in all his wisdom, allows four wives. But Allah also knows that he may need some warriors from time to time, so he created some muslims woman less. Four to some, none to others.
The others can only get woman by force, purchase, or capture. And if they fail by those methods, the 72 are waiting for them to under go a glorious death.
The female deprived then have no alternative but to turn to jihad. For them Allah created sex after death...You have to give Allah credit, he thinks of everything...

I'm sure that this is statistically true, but it is hardly an absolute. How many suicide bombers have left behind families? Many Palistinian women are respected as Shahid widows and receive pensions from one Jihad-sponsoring state or another (Sadaam Hussein used to fund these). And then there is the couple--including the mother--who tried to smuggle explosives onto a British airliner *in their infant's formula*.
Having a family may blunt the Jihad imperitive for some, but many do not consider leaving a widow and orphans in their wake to be any sort of impediment. I'm sure they assume their survivors will be proud of them, and all too often this is indeed the case.

I don't think Allahphrenia is quenched by marriage
but it may slow it down some. I wonder how many muslims actually have multiple wives, and multiple children, and how they support them. I bet a large percent are clerics.
Clerics never go on physical jihads, they get others to do their fighting for them. I wonder if the 'I got four wives, you got none', situation, creates any problems between the haves and have nots?

Having a family lessens one's chances of becoming a jihadist? Baloney- there are several branches of the Bank of Jihad (I mean Islamaniac charities)all over the world that are doing quite well in collecting funds for the orphans of the "martyrs" (so they claim).
Or are these organizations collecting that money for some other reason? Say it aint so!

I don't think marriage slowing jihad is any kind of an absolute. Allahphrenia trumps all. But I do wonder what is the percentage of married muslims who won't go off to jihad versus those that will.
I would also like to see a breakdown of just how many muslims have multiple wives, and how they support them. What do these husbands do for a living, average income, on dole? Or Clerics, which is the same as being on the dole. I don't think this knowledge would be particularly useful, just interesting...

The person who is busy trying to earn a living has no time to visit the mosque and be incited to kill himself. He also doesn't have the cash to get himself to countries (other than Israel) where he can kill with maximum effect. If anything, he is trying to reach one of those countries to escape his lot within the Muslim world.
How many times must we read that the same people who claim to hate the US have it as number one on their wish list of places to live?

During the first few weeks of may "all expenses paid" vactaion to the middles east I did not see a sigle man working, the women did all of the work. Execpt for driving.
Perhaps tat is why they have so many wives. The desert life can be very harsh on a womans appearance. Maybe that is why the men are so willing to blow themselves up.

Any leftist out there will tell you that to wipe out terrorism we must wipe out poverty and provide education to all. Real smart there.
Islam, from somewhere about the 1300's, was in steady decline, and probably would have disappeared due to its glaring inability to compete with Western civilization and/or Pax Americana. But the sudden infusion of unimaginable wealth and prosperity, via their accidental ownership of petroleum reserves, has brought it back from the clutches of the grave.
Jihad and wealth are connected. I think most JihadWatchers can instinctively see the connection.

All kidding aside, I think you are dead on straight. Sexual perversion, especially rape, is a sacramental act in the bowels of Islam. To encourage people to kill themselves, (which is the antithesis of the natural human inclination to be pro-survival,) just so they can get laid, is so vile, so despicable that one cannot imagine a culture that nurtures this thought process. The people who live under Islamic rule are worse off than I ever imagined and I feel sorry for them because they get to live their hell on earth and experience it all over again once they are dead, if they killed innocent people to attain their goal of elusive sexual satisfaction. But I feel more sorry for us, if we allow this to go on right under our noses and let them do it to us too.
