Why are they doing this? Would those wicked Islamophobes roaming all over Iraq target Baghdad mosques? Or might it be because...Muslims themselves might target them? What are you, some kind of Islamophobe?

BAGHDAD - Security will be increased at Baghdad's mosques and other holy sites ahead of the Eid al-Adha holiday that begins Wednesday, an Iraqi official said.Extra bomb-detecting equipment will be deployed throughout the capital's places of worship, along with other sites, such as amusement parks, that are likely to attract crowds during the four-day holiday, chief military spokesman for Baghdad, Brig. Gen. Qassim al-Mousawi, said at a news conference on Tuesday....

It's probably just a precaution, just in case one of the handful of Christians left in Iraq attempt to infiltrate a mosque and indoctrinate Muslims to embrace Christianity.

If Muslims want to blow up their houses of prayer, I say let them, but no American/Coalition forces should be deployed to protect mosques - in Baghdad or anywhere else in Dar-al-Islam. Neither should American dollars, manpower, or material be spent to repair or rebuild any mosque damaged or destroyed by Muslim-on-Muslim violence. Instead, we should shrug our collective shoulders and say: "Let Allah provide."

Notice that there's no tightened security right before Christmas as a defense against Christians. Of course not, that's because such careful measures are reserved for the one, the only, RELIGION OF PEACE.

Amusement parks? Muslims have amusement parks? We can only imagine the kind of amusements they have in there. I shudder to think about what amuses muslims,

It's because the small Christian population gets so violent around Christmas time. The muslims just can't be too careful when it comes to rampaging Christians ya know.

Funny, I don't recall Orthodox Jews attacking the Reform Temple over on Broadway during the Chanakah party last week.
And somehow I don't see Methodists blowing up Our Lady of Lourdes during midnight mass, or the Catholics fire-bombing St. Paul's Episcopal at Christmas morning services.
Fridays after Mosque tend to be a dangeous time in Muslim countries, where angry mobs of worshippers have often been whipped up by the latest bellicose sermon. Apparently Eid, often posited as Islam's most joyous holiday, is no different.
Did you know the US Post Office has issued festive Eid stamps?

OT, I see that the SiteMeter has passed 17 million. There sure are alot of us extreme-right-wing evangelical Christian fanatics out there [*1]. Maybe those of us who believe that the Qur'an is built on core elements of violence, intolerance, and hatred are well on our way to becoming our own "tiny minority" of "youths".

Why would muslims need security at mosques? Surely they have nothing to fear from their peaceful muslim brethren, you know, religion of peace and all that. Perhaps they know better, that there is nothing peaceful about Islam, and that there never will be.
