And Merry Christmas to you, kafir
An attempt at generous outreach that, unfortunately, backfires. "Islam: Bush sends Muslims Eid al-Adha greetings," from AKI (thanks to Jeffrey Imm):
Washington, 19 Dec. (AKI) - United States president George W. Bush on Wednesday sent a message of goodwill to Muslims worldwide at the start of the major Muslim Eid al-Adha festival of sacrifice."During Eid al-Adha, Muslims around the world reflect on Abraham's unwavering faith and his trust in God when asked to sacrifice his son," Bush said in the message.
"These four days are a time for Muslims to honour Abraham's obedience by celebrating with family and friends and showing gratitude for the many blessings bestowed by God.
"This holiday also helps ensure the important values of compassion and devotion are passed on to future generations," the message continued.
Bush also paid tribute to the role played by Muslims in America, saying they "enriched" multicultural US society.
"The kindness, generosity, and goodwill displayed by American Muslims during this special occasion and throughout the year have contributed to the strength and vitality of our Nation," the message stated.
"May all those observing Eid al-Adha find love and warmth during this joyous holiday. Laura and I send our best wishes for a memorable celebration," the message ended.
Eid al-Adha, which lasts through Saturday, is one of the most important Muslim holidays. It commemorates the Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son Ishmael to Allah.
"These four days are a time for Muslims to honour Abraham's obedience by celebrating with family and friends and showing gratitude for the many blessings bestowed by God."
"Honor Abraham's obedience." What is said is not always heard the way it is meant. In speaking of Abraham, even when doing so in the context of Eid al-Adha, Bush probably thinks of Genesis 22:15-18, in which Abraham is rewarded for his faith and told he will become a blessing to the nations:
And the angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time from heaven, and said, "By myself I have sworn, says the LORD, because you have done this, and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will indeed bless you, and I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore. And your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies, and by your descendants shall all the nations of the earth bless themselves, because you have obeyed my voice."
But when Bush congratulates Muslims on Eid al-Adha and exhorts them to honor Abraham, what does his audience hear? Most Muslims don't read Genesis. When they think of Abraham, they think of Qur'an passages such as 60:4:
There is for you an excellent example (to follow) in Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people: "We are clear of you and of whatever ye worship besides Allah: we have rejected you, and there has arisen, between us and you, enmity and hatred for ever, unless ye believe in Allah and Him alone." But not when Abraham said to his father: "I will pray for forgiveness for thee, though I have no power (to get) aught on thy behalf from Allah." (They prayed): "Our Lord! in Thee do we trust, and to Thee do we turn in repentance: to Thee is (our) Final Goal.
Did you catch that? This verse is saying that Abraham is an "excellent example" (uswa hasana, أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ, a term applied also to Muhammad in 33:21). Abraham is an excellent example to follow when he says to the polytheists that there is "enmity and hatred forever" between him and them, unless they "believe in Allah and Him alone." However, the Qur'an also tells us that he is not an excellent example to follow when he says to his pagan father, "I will pray for forgiveness for thee." Hatred is held up as exemplary; forgiveness is explicitly ruled out.
When Bush tells Muslims to "honor Abraham's obedience," he is thus inadvertently reinforcing a worldview that takes for granted the legitimacy of everlasting enmity and hatred between Muslims and non-Muslims -- and doing so precisely in the context of trying to build bridges between Muslims and non-Muslims. Honor Abraham's obedience, says the President: hate the kuffar.
This demonstrates once again how vitally important it is for Bush, and for the rest of us, to have a detailed understanding of the theological and cultural frame of reference of jihadists and Muslims in general. But for lack of this, not only are statements issued that could have and should have been much more carefully worded, but policy errors keep multiplying.

It is easy to see why you discomfort islamics when you so subtly and correctly expose their beliefs, starting with the hate manual, the koran.
"Tell the truth, and the base man will avoid you", only here it would be 'the base men'.

Waiting for the Christmas greeting to Christians worldwide from the POTUS....waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting.......
For someone who reads the Bible, he certainly needs some instruction on the difference between the Old Testament story in that it was Isaac, not Ishmael who was to be sacrificed in obedience to God...not allah.

I feel enriched by Islam every time I go to the airport and have my body searched. I feel enriched by Islam every time I see the latest beheading video, priest murder, church burning, or riot report on the nightly news. I feel enriched by Islam each quarter when I pay my taxes to fund the Homeland Security Department, to fund those Palestinian welfare queens, and to support those corrupt and murderous Iraqi and Afghani Christian-hating and Jew-hating and kafir hating ingrates. I feel enriched by Islam on hearing the news of every gang rape or honor killing against our "uncovered meat."
No Mr. President, duty to our citizens--and duty to humanity--requires that we build moats, not bridges. Duty requires that we defund and weaken the Mohammedan Slave Empire, not prop it up indefinitely so it can torment and abuse future generations of innocents. Duty requires that we vigorously and unaplogetically condemn Islamic dogma, not reinforce it with unearned praise.

Check out the CAIR canada website where they alert Muslims to not say "Merry Christmas" but point out a Halal version of "Seasons greetings" to use .
CAIR is the same Org that was a buddy of Dr.Elamsry and Dr.Sheema Khan when the 2 amigos Crusaded for Shariah-Law in canada under the Guise of a Human Right in the Charter to deny Human Rights to ther Muslims.
Creeping Sharia still exists because CAIR has mitigated the Hijab honour murder by a Muslim dad and CAIR had mitigated the raped of a female Muslim at Carlton University only after she went Public and expressed a fear of Sharia branding her unwanted for Muslim men.
My gut feeling was that CAIR found out that the rapist was a foreign Muslim student from Africa
that felt an entitlement to punish her for being alone in a School and trying to get an Education.
Back in 1989 a Muslim named gamil Gharbi murdered 14 female students for Allah because canada offended Islam by allow females to go to school , but the FemiNazis turned this into a male-bashing fest every year since the event , so I'm not shocked that CAIR still tries to hide the Creeping Sharia and exploits any Islamic murder as a Western problem from our Domestic issues caused by Christians.

CAIR-CAN Wishes Canadians a Happy Holiday Season
Tuesday, December 11, 2007 9:20 am
- For Immediate Release -
(Ottawa, Canada - December 11, 2007) - Eid Mubarak, Happy Hannukah and Merry Christmas! The Canadian Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CAN) extends its warmest greetings to the Muslim, Jewish and Christian communities in Canada and Season's Greetings to all Canadians.
"Muslims, Christians and Jews share a common heritage through Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) and the holiday season serves to reinforce the idea that we are more similar than different in the common values we hold dear," said CAIR-CAN Chairman Abdul-Basit Khan.
This year the holiday season will coincide with the Hajj pilgrimage and the Muslim celebration of Eid al-Adha. This celebration marks the occasion where, according to Muslim tradition, Prophet Abraham, the common forefather of all three great monotheistic faiths, was asked by God to sacrifice his son as a sign of his commitment to God.
"We urge Muslims across Canada to reach out to their neighbours, co-workers and employees and build new friendships," said Faisal Kutty, CAIR-CAN Vice-Chair.
On October 13, 2007, 138 Muslim scholars from across the globe signed on to "A Common Word Between Us and You", a statement of shared values between Islam and Christianity. It is in this spirit that CAIR-CAN wishes to extend holiday greetings to all Canadians.

What a piece of tripe and propaganda to link Jews and Christians to Islam and tie in the request by God for Abraham to sacrifice his son for Allah.
The problem with Muslims building bridges to other faiths is that CAIR follows them around to blow-up the bridges with bomb ladened suicide drivers in cars who will slaughter children and mothers just to get sex in paradise , except that from what I've seen with Muslim females there is a somewhat valid reason to cover their faces so they don't frighten the children who wonder why a man is wearing a black gown .

How slowly and methodically is the charge set, the fuse lit, and then, by the end of Robert's before-your-very-eyes demolition, nothing is left of Bush or the other ignoramuses who "advised" him about this Eid Greeting and so much else in that line -- save perhaps a retinal after-image, showing nothing but that dumb expression on that dumb face, or all of those dumb faces, in some festively-decorated White House office.

This is more than just greetings to Muslims on an Islamic holiday. It is an endorsement of Islam as a true Abrahamic religion, a ligitimate spiritual heir of Judaism and Christianity.
There was no reason for Bush to go beyond the normal bounds of diplomacy to the suggestion that Islam is a true God-inspired religion. If that were true, Jesus Christ was a fraud.
And to sugghest that Islam has enriched our society is a joke. We managed to do very nicely for most of our history without the help of Muslims, so how have they enriched the culture and greatness of our country in the slightest?
Sounds to me like the more Muslims imported into our country, the richer we'll all be.
Only a grassroots revolt will stop politicians with Bush's mentality from destroying our nation.

“If you President Bush want to play the role of the Christian Martyr, then speak for tourslef [yourself] and not the rest of us.”
How could he ‘want to play the role of Christian Martyr’ when he does not even exhibit Christian beliefs? 1)The Abrahamic faiths are two in number [Christianity & Judaism] and not inclusive of Islam –whose deity is an Arabic moon-god - not 'THE God of Abraham'. 2)Abraham sacrificed his legitimate son, Isaac, not his bastard son, Ishmael. As a professing Christian, Mr. Bush, should know these things.

I have no dispute with anti-paganism, but what I find reprehensible is the glorification of vengeance and hatred. These are precisely the values that make Muslims countries violent, chaotic and undemocratic.

One more shining example of how political correctness and the desperate search for moral equivalence is destroying our Republic.
I'd be interested in seeing a list of positive enrichments that muslims have bestowed upon our society here in America (or anywhere else in the world). Taking into consideration how they have totally destroyed every country and culture they've conquered I suspect the list would be quite short-if it exists at all.
I'm getting sick and tired of all these comparisons between Judaism, Christianity, and islam and all the "commonalities" we share. As a Christian, I can't see the first thing I have in common with a muslim as far as beliefs go. I could probably find more commonality of belief with a athiest than a muslim.

By continually invoking Abraham, Muslims are driving home another key element in their claim to religious superiority. Since Abraham was the first Muslim (see Surah 3:60 by Arberry), Christianity and Judaism are merely false and derived aberrations of the "pure faith." The fact that "Muslim" or "Islam" were not mentioned in any religious document from 2,000 BC to 600 AD doesn't seem to bother the advocates of this line of thinking.
A powerful refutation of the notion that the God of Islam and the God of the Judeo-Christian faiths are one and the same can be found in "Revelation?" by Mark Durie, available from www.cityharvest.org.au.
Christians, including President Bush, continue to display their ignorance and naivety every time they succumb to the notion that there is commonality (other than name-dropping) between the God of the Bible and the God of the Quran.
To satisfactorily disprove the assertion that the Quran only name-drops characters from the Bible, someone would have to show a complete statement from the Bible that is accurately quoted in the Quran or an account of a single prophet in the Quran that fully reflects the information provided in the Bible.

The Koran travesties the Old and New testament - their 'Abraham' and 'Jesus' etc. are absurd concoctions of the Prophet of Lies, Lust and Murder.
What is most blindingly obvious is that Mohammed had no conception of the sublime and holy. He and his religion are about POWER. About domination and submission. Everything he touched turned to spiritual sh-t.

I do not think that for one minute that Bush actually expects Muslims to hear this, unless it was issued in the various languages spoken by these creatures. It was writen for consumption by American Muslims and gullible non-Mohammedan Americans who still feast on the spoon fed religion of peace lie.
Bush wants to be liked and loved. Soon we will be in the last year of the Bush presidency. (Don't everyone cheer at once.) He needs to make sure that he will remembered as a positive, loving, caring president, and what's more - a born again Christian. He obviously believes Jesus Christ, not his own internal strenght, ended his friendship with John Barleycorn and turned his life around. He has exhibited very little in the way of strenght of personality. Blind stubbornness is not a positive characteristic.
His phoney idea of "compassionate conservatism" (Whatever the Hell that is.) is his legacy, and it is meaningless.

How can anyone who knows Islam for what it really intends think the President's season's greetings to Muslims wise or even defensible? Please, Mr. President, in the future remain silent about Islam. You don't have to condemn it, but please don't praise it. Islam does not wish America and the West well, except in the sense that it believes all better off as Muslims, and it will use force to achieve such.
Personally, I'd rather be dead than be a Muslim or live as a dhimmi under Sharia. There's my season's greetings to the Mohammedans.

.........................
Sheik, here's the Cliff Notes version:
Abraham and his wife, Sarah (or Sarai) have been trying to have children for years, but Sarah is barren. Knowing how much Abraham wants children, Sarah gives him her maidservant, Hagar.
Abraham and Hagar have a child, Ishmail (or Ismail) Later, Sarah learns that despite her barreness and now advanced age, that she has indeed conceived. Her child is Isaac.
Hagar and Ishmael are banished to the desert. Ismael is referred to as "a wild ass of a man"--wild, violent and barbaric.
When Isaac is still a lad, Abraham is told by God that he must sacrifice his only legitimate son. Abraham reluctantly sets out to obey God, at th last moment, an angel points out a ram caught in the bushes as a substitute sacrifice.
Jews, Christians and Muslims generally agree that Ismael--that "wild ass of a man"--is considered the founder of Bedouin tribes, the ancestors of Arabian Muslims. Isaac is considered the father of Jews (and by extension, Christians)
Jews and Christians refer to this event as "the sacrifice of Isaac". Abraham was asked to sacrifice what was dearest to him--by Old Testament or Torah accounts, this was Isaac, the legitimate son he had with Sarah.
This was of course changed in the Qu'ran to Ishmael--in this version, it is the founder of the Arab tribes who Abraham most loves, and the value that it would be hardest for him to sacrifice, rather than his second son, Isaac.
Hence, the story becomes a further validation of the importance of Islam.
The Qu'ran is full of this sort of thing. Often "moderate" Muslims will assure Christians, for instance, of how much they, too, revere Jesus (Isa). What they seldom mention, though, is that in most of Isa's appearances in the Qu'ran, he is vociferously berating Christians for believing that he is the son of God, or that he was crucified, and how these beliefs will lead to Hell.
The main role of Isa in the last days is to return to the world and--I'm not joking--smite Christians. Not something that is emphsized at your average interfaith get-together at the local mosque.

Robert:
This demonstrates once again how vitally important it is for Bush, and for the rest of us, to have a detailed understanding of the theological and cultural frame of reference of jihadists and Muslims in general.
President Bush and his advisors, like the rest of the western world, have now had more than six years to study the history and nature of Islam. Yet the rhetoric from the administration remains essentially the same as it was on Sept 12, 2001: "Islam means peace". This single statement, still un-retracted, and now heavily ornamented by more gratuitous fawning and ceremony at the glory of Islam, does more to paint the administration as Orwell's "Ministry of Truth" than all the faulty or misinterpreted intelligence reports will ever do.
The following sentence, for instance, might as well have been generated by an automatic "truth" generator: Bush also paid tribute to the role played by Muslims in America, saying they "enriched" multicultural US society. We only need to look at the Middle East to see what beauty and peace this "enrichment" is likely to bring.
"This holiday also helps ensure the important values of compassion and devotion are passed on to future generations."
And how, exactly does it do that Mr. President?
"During Eid al-Adha, Muslims around the world reflect on Abraham's unwavering faith and his trust in God when asked to sacrifice his son," Bush said in the message.
Oh, well that's a message of moderation.
Ushering in the end of democratic, constitutional government by welcoming it's ideological enemy is hardly a cause for celebration.

It's understandable why this utterly inexcusable greeting by bush makes those who continue to suport his iraq policy squirm a little. After all, is it likely that a man whose actions & pronouncements, big & small, continue to point toward his complete cluelessness regarding the mortal danger islam poses to the West, is pursuing the correct strategy in iraq? I submit that bush's iraq policy makes sense only if you share his delusions: That islam really is a religion of peace; and that muslims in the middle east, like Americans, want & value freedom & democracy.

"Interesting aside re seizing Saudi oil fields:. . . a briefing given to a Pentagon advisory group [quite some time ago] . . . . The briefing declared Saudi Arabia an enemy of the United States and advocated that the United States invade the country, seize its oil fields, and confiscate its financial assets unless the Saudis stop supporting the anti-Western terror network."

sheik yer booty:I submit that bush's iraq policy makes sense only if you share his delusions: That islam really is a religion of peace; and that muslims in the middle east, like Americans, want & value freedom & democracy.
And I submit that in a war waged aggressively against the enemies' military, with the outcome enforced with unwavering enthusiasm on the conquered population, it doesn't matter what the losing side values. The descendants of conquered will eventually value freedom and democracy, because they have no other choice, the conquerors instill their value system on the conquered, no matter how long it takes.
Our enemies tell us that they value death more than we value life. We should take them at their word and not be shy about offering a helping hand in that regard.
We have chosen not to take a hardcore, cultural dominating approach against an enemy with a long and celebrated tradition of not only cultural domination, but deliberate cultural erasure. By making this naïve choice we guarantee that we, or our descendants, will face a far more dangerous enemy. An enemy eager to master the infidel texts on physics and missile technology, and willing to use that knowledge to kill millions without setting foot in our country.
But at least we'll feel good about our tolerance, moderation, and sensitivity, and what could be more important than that?

Betrayed!, we are. I'll never forgive him. I voted for him twice and wish I could undo that. Shortly after 9/11 we heard about religion of peace and it haunts us still. I know when I've been played the fool. I'll never forgive this or forget. Mr. Prez., do you think you rule over a nation of sheep? That's no longer true. Remember that.

In matters of security, a lot could be at stake and it is vital to be alert and take necessary steps at the right time. For example. had immigration procedures not been lax in Saudi Arabia, it would have been much harder to attack America. But, instead of approaching such vital issues from American security angle, Bush has taken the oppite approach. Making it easier for our enemies. Given our system of government and given that the president is also commander-in-chief, that positiion comes with highest national responsibiliy, lack of which could cost a nation dearly. To jeopardize national secueity at the position of president/commander-in-chief, is nothing short of criminal abuse of the national trust. It is fine citizenship to support a sitting president, if he/she deserves it. If abused the president / commander-in-chief can be a national security threat all by him/herself..

Lots of comments here about the inadequacies of Pres. Bush. Well, yes, he's been a disappointment in a lot of ways. But does anyone seriously believe that Algore or Lt. Kerry of the many Purple Hearts would have been better? And, coming up, will Hillary or Borat Obama be an improvement?

The sooner Americans get rid of Bush the better it will be for America and the rest of what remains of the free world. Bush speaks so much of democracy, yet understands so little of it.
