Holiday Jihad Update. "Man arrested with 'Christmas Day' bomb," from Agence France-Presse (thanks to Twostellas):
POLICE in the southern Philippine city of Cotabato have arrested an Egyptian man allegedly plotting a bomb attack on Christmas day.The suspect, identified as Egyptian national Mohamad Sayed, was arrested during a raid on an apartment inside the Majad Islamic School in Cotabato.
Recovered from his room was an explosive device fashioned from a 60mm mortar shell and ball bearings attached to a timing device, which was later safely detonated.
Sayed, who also goes by the alias Abu Husein, was undergoing interrogation at police headquarters in Cotabato, said local police chief Superintendent Willie Dangane.
Mr Dangane said the Egyptian was captured after surveillance by the police and military.
He said intelligence reports indicated Mr Sayed planned to detonate the bomb at an undisclosed location in the city on Christmas Day.
It was not clear whether he was acting alone or was affiliated with any groups.
Among the items recovered from his room was a booklet on the organisation of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), a rebel group that has been fighting to set up an Islamic state in the southern Philippines.

I think I'm finally beginning to understand why muslims are so easily offended. They make it so easy to be satirized. I mean, who needs Hollywood/New York writers, the comedy just writes itself when islam is involved. It would be even funnier if it didn't involve such violent acts.

Why were they following this Egyptian gentleman? Is this racism? Should the Phillipines be condemned? If I was of the Muslim faith I'd sponsor a riot at every Phillipines embassy in the world.

I'm very happy this fellow was stopped. Obviously he doesn't understand his own religion very well. I wonder how many other misunderstanders there are this year that we'll be hearing from??

Agreed, and I would add it's not that easy to be a parody of oneself, but Muslims across the world do it most everyday of the week. Hard to imagine such idiots ever taking over the world (unless we let them).

Muslims know that Islamic violence increases during Ramadan.

Elves have started to fashion ICD's (Improvised Candycane Devices) for use in a devastating Christmas Eve attack. It is feared that the Green and Red Sect of Santaism will unleash its unstoppable force, that can noiselessly penetrate any building no mater how secure. It is rumored that Elves have developed noiseless flying devices to facilitate their attacks, capable of extraordinary speed, but that can hover and land on any structure.
Security personnel have indicated a spike in Elfin chatter, intelligence has been secured from controversial domestic surveillance confirms plans for Christmas Eve attacks are more than just rumor. Most troubling are the "Bad" lists that were secured from no knock searches of Santa safe houses. It is uncertain what these lists mean, but experts fear that the lists identify targets of attack.
Plans have been uncovered from searches of the ice caves in Mora Toy-a section of the Artic, that indicates victims are to have stockings placed over their heads and be decapitated with sharpened sleigh runners.
Other plans outlined attacks on shopping malls. Reports have been coming in from around the nation, indicating that identically disguised elves have set up bases of operations in shopping centers across the nation. More troubling are lines of converts coming to worship or curry favor from the Elves. Rumors have surfaced that converts are exchanging lists of potential targets and other domestic intelligence for ICD's. The most fervent converts are very young, however it appears that adults have been enabling the Elfin plot and have engaged in cover up activities in order to shield the main attack on Christmas Eve.
Unnamed sources indicate that there is even a more sinister aspect to these Elfin plots. The Elves have developed secret monitoring technologies to allow them to "see" anything, anywhere, anytime. Undercover operatives have penetrated local cells, and have observed members chanting sacred verses. These verses indicate that Santa and his elven army can, "See you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake, he knows if you've been bad or good..." The verse also contains threats, "... so be good for goodness sake." Administration insiders have expressed concerns that domestic security and even nuclear weapon security may have been compromised.

Grim - there are some frightening parallels between the Elfin & Muslim threats because they are both rooted in fairy tales. Nevertheless, we need to take both terrorist groups seriously.

I guess it's Auld Lang Synge to that claim Christmas "offends Muslim sensibilities" (evidently it doesn't when it can be made useful for killing people).

He should have been present for the safe detonation. His wish to die for allah yatta yatta yatta would have been fulfilled and it would have saved the Phillipines the expense of a trial and imprisonment.
