As Ayatollah Khomeini said: "There is no humor in Islam. There is no fun in Islam. There can be no fun and joy in whatever is serious." And the jihadists intend to ensure that's the case.
"Suicide attack kills 50 in Pakistan," by Riaz Khan for the Associated Press:
SHERPAO, Pakistan - A suicide attacker detonated a bomb packed with ball bearings and nails amid hundreds of holiday worshippers Friday at the residential compound of Pakistan's former interior minister, killing at least 50 people, authorities said.
It was the second suicide attack in eight months apparently targeting Aftab Khan Sherpao, who escaped injury. One of his sons was wounded.
Suspicion will likely focus on the pro-Taliban or al-Qaida militants active in the northwestern region of the country where the attack occurred. The attack also deepened the sense of uncertainty in Pakistan as it heads into Jan. 8 parliamentary elections. Sherpao is a candidate for parliament.
Hours after the bombing, security officers raided an Islamic school in the nearby village of Turangzai and arrested seven students, some of them Afghans, two police officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media. The officials declined to say whether the raid was connected to the attack.
The bombing, which came during the Islamic holy day of Eid al-Adha, left a scene of carnage at the mosque at the politician's residential compound in Sherpao, a village 25 miles northeast of the city of Peshawar.
Bloodied clothes, hats, shoes and pieces of flesh were strewn about the building. Witnesses said the dead included police officers guarding Sherpao, who was praying in the mosque's front row at the time of the attack but not injured.
"We were saying prayers when this huge explosion occurred," said Shaukat Ali, a 26-year-old survivor of the blast whose white cloak and pants were torn and spattered with blood.
The bomber was praying in a row of worshippers when he detonated the explosive, provincial police chief Sharif Virk said. Hundreds of people were in or around the mosque, about 40 yards from Sherpao's house, witnesses said.

Again another tragedy as a result of US foreign policy. It's obvious President Bush is to blame here. Something like this would never happen under the watch off Clinton, Obama, Edwards, Paul and the like.

At least they didn't target infidels.
Just another fine example of Koranic bloodlust.

Brings a whole new meaning to "eid package"...
Lame, I know, and only works with Persian pronounciation (maybe Urdu as well...)

Let's see, the guy who escaped custody did so by entering a Mosque.
Guy is praying in Mosque blows himself up.
If the Muslims can't protect themselves from the tiny minority how are they allowed to build Mosques all over the Western world?
Perhaps a surgeon generals warning outside these buildings. 'May explode without warning'

Those of us in the Baptist church usually just have a fish fry, or pot-luck lunch, or crawfish boil or something like that to celebrate a holiday. I never really thought about blowing myself up during prayer meeting...
I've always believed that a person should lead by example. This is certainly another fine example of the religion of peace at work. Fifty people were killed...how many were wounded? How many were permanently maimed and disabled by this murderous bastard?
Yes, Mr. Bush, be sure and wish them well this holiday season. Continue building that bridge of understanding and stand there with your arms open wide to the practitioners of this great religion that has contributed so much to the world.
While you're building that bridge, Mr. Bush, I'll celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace.

For all Jihadwatchers:
Joy to the world, the best to you and your families,
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition.
Thank heavens for our good fortune and our ability to fight.

It's like the "bridge to nowhere" that the Alaskan senator wanted funded in the recent pork-barrel bill. It's on a bigger and much more expensive scale, but it still goes nowhere.

We can only hope that the people who build that Bridge are standing on that bridge at the right moment.

It was all a mistake. The bomber was on his way to blast some infidel target, and just stopped in the mosque for one last prayer. Unfortunately he had the trigger in his belt, and when he bent forward to knock-head in prayer, it squeezed the trigger. So sad, but at least he meant well, and it's the thought that counts.

I wonder what these people did for fun before explosives were invented?
I'm still LMAO at ebonystone's analysis of what likely happened. Could very well be true!

I know what you mean about boring American church customs. All we Episcopalians do is get together for a midnight service, and sing carols.
(I know, I know--the Anglican Communion has its share of political silliness, with which I don't agree. But, I do love the services, and the people.)
Hey, after the tenth verse of Hark the Herald Angels Sing, who needs the Communion wine? It looks a bit suspicious to go staggering up to the rail, but we don't really get bombed, either.

"No joy in Islam"
A statement that bears repeating; over, and over again.

No joy in Islam, eh?
The rest of humanity is far more sane.
As I recall, C S Lewis once remarked, "Joy is the serious business of Heaven".
Furthermore, I am informed (someone correct me if I am wrong) that in at least one branch of Orthodox Christianity, priests are encouraged to spend the evening of Good Friday telling jokes, in order to celebrate God's ultimate Practical Joke upon the Devil, the outwitting and defeat of the Powers of this World.
The middle name of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, is...Laughter, He Laughs.
The Jews have the Purim festival: celebrating deliverance and the biter bit, by loud noisemaking and wearing of masks and (I gather, in some traditions, the performance of comic theatre).
A Jewish poster, long ago, in jihadwatch, argued that at least one wise rabbi from long ago advised men that they should satisfy their wives before seeking their own satisfaction...if this 'Ladies First' ruling is in fact the case, it would explain a LOT about Judaism!
The ancient Greeks had Laughing Aphrodite. Dorothy Sayers' fictional Peter Wimsey says: "Passion must lie down with laughter or make its bed in hell - there is no other way"; and "Laugh, lover, laugh".
The Asian East has the Laughing Buddha and the Zen master.
Psychologists and neurologists, I gather, have discovered that genuine whole-hearted laughter, the belly-laugh kind, 1. promotes health of the immune system 2. provides pain relief 3. helps people learn new things.
By trying to kill laughter, fun, joy, the Ummah has made its people sicker and also killed creativity.
And so, with straight faces, deadly serious Muslims mass murder one another in their own places of worship, on their own 'festival' days.

Eid - isn't that just about killing for Allah's cause? I know it's just goats, but killing is killing.
