That is, martyrdom in the Islamic sense: gaining Paradise by killing and being killed, per Qur'an 9:111. And this is in service of a supremacist and expansionist vision: "A seventh-grade textbook encourages students to "not cease until the redeeming message of 'there is no god but Allah' is realized throughout the whole world."
"Iran Educates Children to 'Seek Martyrdom,'" by Erick Stakelbeck for CBN News (thanks to all who sent this in):
CBNNews.com - During Iran's war with Iraq in the 1980s, Ayatollah Khomeini sent thousands of Iranian children directly into minefields. He promised that they'd see heaven as their reward.
Today's Iranian leadership is quite unpopular with its growing younger generation -- the Mullahs are attempting to reclaim this group one textbook at at a time.
This is becoming a common scene in Iran. Pro-democracy Protests against the ruling regime. Just last weekend Tehran University students waved signs that said "live free or die."
In some ways, this is the new face of Iran-- 70 percent of the population is under the age of 30. Many of these Iranians are hungry for the kind of freedoms Americans enjoy. But the Iranian government has other ideas.
"Imagine 225,000, 250,000 even 100,000 kids who have been taught to hate America, hate the West, get ready for martyrdom," Shayan Arya said.
Shayan Arya's family left Iran when he was a teenager. He says the government's educational curriculum teaches children as young as first grade to prepare for war and seek martyrdom.
"You are responsible for learning it--you get tested on it, you have to study it, you have to write papers on it, you have to answer to your teachers, he said.
The Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance recently gave CBN News an exclusive look at some Iranian textbooks. All non-Muslims are portrayed as evil -- especially the U.S. and Israel.

Ayatollah Khomeini was a sociopath, obviously; a malignant, truly evil monster, not a fully-human being. What a monumental inversion of religion and of what the True Kingdom of God among men is!
How long, O Lord, will this Darkness which has name and form--and a godless void called god at its center--how long will this Evil hold sway?
Perhaps introspection, forgiveness, forbearance, penance and prayer REALLY are the answers? There is something about this state of affairs not entirely of this world here. I would call it preternatural--outside of nature; in this case, demonic--certainly not supernatural, that is, the Divine (I think of God Alone as being truly above nature).

Little 'g' is about right...Why must I be forced to worship a god who's title starts with lower case 'g'? Was that a typo or an admission?

I am sometimes critcised for my extremely hostile stance against Islam and Muslims for being Islam's disease vector. But while this disgusting Islamic curriculum is obviously genocidal and murderous, I don't think everything about it is bad. Islam is clearly pitted against the world -- who would know this better that the top religious scholars in Muslim sewers of "learning" in places like Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt?
My understanding is that these cesspool nations are the the primary epicenters of "Islamic learning", such as it is. They would know best the strands and strains of Islamic thinking, and despite the schisms which may exist between Shiism and Sunnism, both are equally convinced that we are their enemies, that they must fight us, and that it is the holy duty of Muslims to subjugate, kill, or convert us to Islam. They say it every day, even here on our own territory.
My point is this. Why don't we go back to teaching our children that Muslims are our enemies? It's simply the truth. Muslims know it full well -- and teach their children according to their vile creed of hatred. Why should't we teach our children about their vile creed, and especially about the dangers Islam poses against us? It truly seems to me the only ones espousing a moderate Islam are the idiotic "infidels". The Muslims, on the other hand seem very clear on where they stand in this conflict -- and it is really not with us at all. They may be vile, they clearly are barbarians and ruthless opressors, and exterminationist murderers. Why ca't we teach our children the truth about the Muslims and the way they sacralize murder, mayhem, and our very destruction?

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

In Lennon's case, we're still imagining. In the case of Islam's dream, of children full of hatred and adults gleefully committing mass murder, we see on the news every day that it is already a reality.

Martyrdom my backside!
Lets call a spade a spade. Murder & suicide are acts of terrorism, and they're nothing more than a one-way ticket to Sex Heaven.....
....except there is no Sex Heaven, so Allah really has them duped.

Yeah, sending all those kids to martyrdom works well as a military weapon. That's how Iran scored its decisive victory over Iraq in the 1980's by the reckoning of these lunatics. The Iranian people should have strung up all those mule-ahs then for wasting their children like that. Here's another opportunity to do so, before a lot more of theri kids end up dying for nothing but the glory of a bunch of old perverts.

Our 7th graders are taught to embrace these kind of people. To celebrate the diversity.

Yes, I remember reading that at the time. What barbarians. During the Civil War, when General Sherman, during the march thru Georgia, suspected a Confederate minefield, he had his men drive a herd of cattle thru it to detonate the mines. It seems the Iranian ayatollahs value their herds more than their children. Apparently one sort of kid is worth more than another.

Muslims keep telling me that the Christian god and Muslim god are one and the same. If that's true, how can the phrase "there is no god but Allah" have any meaning? If that's true, hasn't the US, being primarily a Christian nation, already been conquered by Allah?

Special_Guest, John Lennon's dreamers, if given guns and money, would create only one more nation and religion. Old Moe of Mecca himself thought he'd overcome the disunity of Christians, Jews, and native Arab God-fearers with his new religion, which he dubbed "Submission" rather than "Religion".
No, the sheep and the goats graze together, the wheat and tares grow together, until God himself divides them in the final judgment.
Maybe our Western problem is that we shuck our own religion, and expect the other guy to do the same. We're so so shocked that he answers our "We're free to spit on our religion" with "We're free to spit on your religion, too." We are led by people who are so liberal that they won't take their own side in a quarrel, and who are so open-minded that their brains have fallen right out of their heads.
While I do not welcome war and pray that God will let the saner heads prevail, it seems to me that Iran is telling us that the only way we can deal with them is the way Timur-e-Lenk did--raise piles of skulls on the sites of Tabriz, Esfahan, etc. I only hope that when Iran does indeed provoke a war in which it pits its willingness for martyrdom against all that the US has, the USA will have the good sense to grant the martyrdom that Iran's young desire--and withhold the reconstruction aid until the old folks who taught their children the glories of martyrdom starve to death on the roadsides while looking for wild plants to eat and get eaten by jackals since there's no-one to bury them--especially those turbaned beardies of Qom.
