The jihadists who make such effective propaganda use of anything they can portray as an attack on civilians by the Americans or Israels never hesitate to target anyone, anywhere, with no regard for any convention or civilized norm. BAGHDAD - A suicide attacker killed at least 32 men gathered in eastern Baghdad Tuesday to mourn the death of a retired Iraqi army officer, a Shiite who was slain last week in a car bombing blamed on al-Qaida in Iraq.The attack was a reminder of the dangers that persist despite Baghdad's recent decline in violence and of the peril for any mass gathering in a country where the bereaved often find themselves targets.

In Tuesday's bombing the east Baghdad neighborhood of Zayouna, a mixed Shiite and Sunni district, a man loaded with explosives walked into a funeral tent outside the home of Nabil Hussein Jassim, a retired army officer killed along with another 13 people in a car bombing in downtown Baghdad's Tayaran Square on Friday.
All 32 people killed by the suicide bomber were men, police and ambulance officials said on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release details of the bombing. The attack resembled those carried out by al-Qaida in past years, when men in suicide vests targeted funeral tents or processions. Tents are usually erected outside the homes of those whose died or outside mosques and are usually filled with male friends and relatives of the deceased.
It was the fourth large bombing to target Iraqi civilians or members of the predominantly Sunni tribal movement known as Awakening Councils in the past 10 days. A suicide bomber targeting members of the U.S.-funded movement killed 12 people on Monday in Tarmiyah, just north of Baghdad....

The Muslim capacity for death is pretty incredible. A violent people we should keep at arm's length. I wonder if there will come a time when the West reclassifies Islam from a "great religion" to a cult. Maybe the Vatican should take the lead on this.

Attacks on funerals in Iraq are sadly not uncommon, this is just another day in the Middle East. These attacks along with attacks on children, women, the elderly and civilians in general seem to be a trademark of Islam. The Muslim capacity for depravity and dishonor is truly something to behold.

As I have posted before--Why worry, they will kill each other long before they get over here.
Of course, the statement is more 'sarc' than anything else.
The ongoing need has always been the 'education' of the west and Roberts voice along with many others IS having an impact.
The Bible encourages us to "Not be weary in well doing". My prayer and wish is for all of us to be 'in'-courage to continue this huge task of well doing for our Western culture and our very lives.

With all the homicide bombings of late, I wonder if they are running short on virgins. Maybe its only seven instead of the original seventy-two. They could just go ahead and marry seven down here and not blow themselves up.
BUT, they wouldnt have the delicious knowledge of knowing they took dozens of their fellow death cult members along with them.
Go to a funeral and it becomes your own. What a disgusting JOKE is this so-called 'peaceful' religion!!

This violence had nothing to do with Islam. Islam is a great and noble religion of peace.
However, anyone who insults this peaceful religion deserves to be shredded by a nail-bomb, have their throat slashed, be shot in the back of the head, be burnt alive, be stoned to death, have their hands and feet cut off, be whipped, beaten, electrocuted, raped, burnt with acid...

If we believe that our troops are in Iraq to keep Moslems from killing other Moslems then we believe in a lost cause.
But then, sad as Moslem-on-Moslem killings may appear to be, they are a fact of life of Islam ever since its inception.
Imagine what will happen if and when our troops ever leave Iraq. But then, is it our duty to keep Moslems from killing each other? And if there are those in our government who claim it to be, why aren't we playing the part of "world police" in such cesspools as Somalia and Sudan--to the extent we are doing it in Iraq?
If we believe, however, that our troops are in Iraq to keep it from becoming a vacuum that will suck in such forces as Iran and the Sunni jihadists--that is make it into a breeding ground for jihad against us--then we can feel better about what use to which our troops are being put.
How we feel about it does not, however, reflect reality.
Encouraging conflict within the Ummah is not to our disadvantage.

Yes. I can just see it.
Not just a Vatican III involving all the Catholics; not just an Ecumenical Council such as took place at Nicaea. But a Solemn Assembly of the Infidels.
Hosted in Rome, perhaps: with not only every leader of every branch of Christianity invited, urged, nay, begged to attend, from the Russian Patriarch to the head of the Salvation Army; but with Jewish rabbis from all over, and the President of the Jewish state of Israel, also invited; and the Dalai Lama, and Buddhist monks from Thailand, Sikhs, Zoroastrians, Taoists, everyone.
In my dream, Benedict invites that pious Eastern Catholic, Robert Spencer, but also those two learned and courageous Jews, Andrew Bostom and Bat Yeor, and other clearheaded scholars, to advise and instruct the entire assembly.
Testimony would be given by the Defectors from Islam - not only the converts to Christianity, Shayesteh and Sookhdeo and Sanneh and others, such as the Afghan Abdul Rahman, but even by the secular sceptics, Ali Sina and Ibn Warraq and Ayaan and Wafa Sultan.
The history of all the Resisters and the Victims of Jihad - be they Sikhs or Rajputs, medieval Ethiopian warriors, Armenian and Sudanese martyrs, Buddhist monks, the Knights of St John of Malta, the Jews of modern Israel - would be briefly laid out; a solemn Requiem Mass would be held to commemorate all the anonymous victims; and the bells of St Peter's would toll for ALL the 'tears of jihad'. In the synagogue at Rome Jewish cantors would recite Kaddish for the Jews of the Khaybar Oasis - as representive of all Jews murdered in the name of Islam and Muhammad. Other faiths would conduct such ceremonies of public mourning as they considered appropriate.
The whole thing would be recorded, and webcast in realtime from start to finish.
At the end, first of all, the Jews and Christians would stand up side by side and declare to everyone that the claim of Islam to be an Abrahamic religion is false, and that, being now undeceived, they (Jews and Christians) no longer regard it as a 'sister' faith but rather as a complete fake and murderously antisemitic to boot; that its theft and distortion of the good name of their God and of their most holy stories, people and places, is merely a brazen and crude identity fraud, blasphemy of the highest degree.
And then everyone would stand up and resolve and declare that, whereas the canonical texts of the imperialist ideology known as 'Islam' do not teach the Golden Rule, rather promulgating a culture of deception and violence, and whereas historically and in the present time many of its adherents de facto practise human sacrifice on both a minor and a major scale, all infidel societies and governments are solemnly warned against permitting any large-scale presence of its adherents in their midst, and are urged to courageously and relentlessly, by all means at their disposal, intellectual, spiritual and physical, resist and indeed curtail its expansion. And Muslims are urged to renounce Jihad, and told, point blank, that no aspect of Sharia will ever be countenanced, within any Infidel territory.
I doubt anything like this will happen. But dear god, it needs to happen.
