UK: 'Family turned a blind eye' as teenage bride was beaten to death by arranged husband

In my Human Events article today about the murder of the Said sisters, I wrote, "Muslim spokesmen in the U.S. have an all the more urgent responsibility to end their denial and confront these cultural attitudes. If they don’t, and instead continue to glibly insist that religion has nothing to do with what happened to these poor girls, the murders of the Said sisters will only be the beginning of a new American phenomenon."

And a new phenomenon in the U.K. as well.

"'Family turned a blind eye' as teenage bride was beaten to death by arranged husband," from the Daily Mail (thanks to Josephine):

A teenage bride was beaten to death by her husband while her in-laws stood by and did nothing, a court heard yesterday.

Sabia Rani, 19, was repeatedly attacked over a three-week period, suffering bruising to 90 per cent of her body and "catastrophic" injuries usually only seen in car crash victims.

She had arrived five months earlier from Pakistan for an arranged marriage to Shazad Khan, 25, of Oakwood Grange, Leeds, a jury at Leeds Crown Court was told.

But Khan's family, with whom she lived, took an almost instant dislike to her, said Simon Myerson, prosecuting, and Khan began beating her.

The attack which killed her was "prolonged and vicious," the court heard.

Her agonising rib fractures were caused by "kicks, stamps or very hard punches".

The victim's mother-in-law and a sister-in-law blamed the injuries on "evil spirits, curses and black magic".

But after Khan was convicted of murder at Leeds Crown Court last January, police investigated the role of other family members.

They arrested and charged the victim's mother-in-law Phullan Bibi, 52, sisters-in-law Nazia Naureen, 28, and Uzma Khan, 23, and her husband Majid Hussain, 28.

All deny a charge of allowing the death of a vulnerable adult. Khan and Hussain also deny perjury....

And of course we know that such people would never lie!

...sounds like Islam was involved....

This is truly a sickening story. It reaffirms what I believe about the abuses and violence in Islam. Many Muslim women are full partners in the dark, cruel manifestations of Islam. The dead bride was little more than a child. At some point, in Pakistan at the British Embassy or in a room at a UK airport, these young female visitors, or bought-and- paid-for brides, should be made to spend an hour with other women who speak their language and fully acquaint them with their basic rights before the brides begin their lives in the UK. They should know that they have a right to leave their home and seek police protection from abusive situations. These know-your-rights sessions should be mandatory throughout the West.

But it's cultural - isn't it?

Complete with "evil spirits, curses and black magic". Of course, you would have to beat someone to death to drive away all this occult activity.

Women = Property

Silence = Death

I am certain the British court system will see thru all this and let the poor family go free. Obvious police setup that needs to be addressed with more muslim sensitivity training for the bobbies......................................... Even tho I am being a tad sarcastic, it still rings true somehow.

Gee, what ever happened to "beat her lightly with a toothbrush"?

"evil spirits, curses and black magic"

-Can you believe these people?

Assalamau Laikum all,

I agree that this crime is really horrific and obscene. Too often the 2nd generation Pak born and bred in the UK will marry a Rose from Pak to really feel settled.

However that difference in upbringing between the two countries is now so different that in a sense it is no longer "home" from "home".

The culturally advanced British Pak's thinking is different...and he wants an equally advanced partner in her mind...but she needs to be grounded in the spirit of Pak too ...I hope this makes sense to you....Sabia probably was not all there for him.

Shazhad probably failed to marry within the extended family back home....and settled for Sabia's good looks (& dowry probably) while out there. However, once back in the UK, someone probably told him that his blood line can no longer remain pure...hence the criminality.

This may indeed be a cultural thing....in the part of Pak Shazhad hails from ...but I cannot agree that this has much to do with Islam....the chap is an evil scum....and you have them lots of them everywhere...there are christians who are evil too, like Jack the Ripper was a practising christian.

But above all do NOT talk about sending him & his family back to Pakistan....these peoples are British...you deal with them through British law.

Posted by: Naseem [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 8, 2008 9:07 AM

"The culturally advanced British Pak's"... wonder why that is Naseem?( although I would argue that they are not all that advanced if they still follow the cult of death) Maybe it has to do with the fact that they are in a (once, perhaps) Christian country which values tolerance(to a fault) and liberty that you won't find in the backward lands of Islamic misery.

"Women = Property
"Silence = Death" Posted by: tanstaafl

tanstaafl, your statement really resonates with me.

I feel so sorry for that young girl. Only a heartless monster could stand by and do nothing while she suffered. I hope all four are convicted and imprisoned for a very long time. They had a responsibility to do something.

Posted by: Josephine [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 8, 2008 9:31 AM

Naseem has solved the mystery and discovered the identity of Jack the Ripper!

She must have - she knows he was a practicing Christian.

Posted by: ImNoDhimmi [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 8, 2008 9:39 AM

Thanks for your insightful post Naseem.

Insightful in that you omitted the influence of his family and placed the onus for this deed on the shortcomings of the victim.

It's always a joy to have a muslim reveal their psyche. Because of course women are treated as equals under Islam, why, incidents such as this are one offs and have nothing whatsoever to do with Islam. You've only got to look at how women are treated in Islamic countries to see the truth of this!

Oh, and I WILL talk about sending them back home to their Islamic cesspit of a country. It's where they and the rest of these deranged lunatics belong.

Islam: Not wanted and not welcome.

Posted by: Lionheart [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 8, 2008 9:54 AM

Another poor woman victimized by this stone age cult. Two things that make me sick here:

1- It's obvious from the story that her mother and sisters in law knew about the abuse but did nothing to help her. You can't even count on Muslim women to defend one of their own.

2- As usual, and as in the tragic case of the murdered Said sisters in Texas, NOW and other so called feminist organizations are utterly silent on the issue. Few things illustrate the complete hipocrisy and how clueless the Left is as their silence in the face of Islamic oppression of women. Ultimately, it's all about ideology with them, not about doing what's right for women.

Posted by: Proud Infidel [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 8, 2008 9:59 AM

Why do they always do the tu quoque thingy? I talked to a bubbly future educator who, convinced that Islam is a religion of peace, went on and on to tell me that there were extremists in every religion, and when I asked her about Christianity, she claimed that extremists are thriving in the Johnstown PA area....so Naseem might want to consider that a no go area for moderate muslimas like herself, because of all the jack the ripper christian types in the Johnstown area.

Naseem, I can agree with a lot of what you say. He is an evil scum, and there are evil people in all countries and religions. But it is a bit of a stretch to say he was a practicing Christian, since he was never identified. Also I don't recall anyone suggesting that the Ripper had help from his sisters, mother, and brother-in-law. I do agree that they should be dealt with by British law, preferably with jail terms of 25 years or so, and then deported, if they are immigrants to Britain.

Jack the Ripper killed women.

"Honor" killings kill women.

Naseem, are you saying that Moslem men defending their families' "honor" are just like Jack the Ripper?

Jack the Ripper could belong to any religion. What makes you sure he wasn't defending someone's "honor"?

Posted by: tanstaafl [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 8, 2008 11:53 AM

For a change Naseem has a point. Muslims born in this country tend to take on a more advanced, intelligent nature when they are allowed to integrate into our more advanced culture.

Having had muslim friends I can honestly say that when they start to leave behind their medieval muslim background they do tend to leave the violent psychosis behind and grow as human beings. They become less muslim and more able to see the truth they are blinded to by being indoctrinated, rather than thinking for themselves. Sadly, as in this case, when their parents, and family, force their pakistani muslim culture on them, they tend to use violence towards women and the world in general.

We see so many examples of the backward nature of this culture that we sometimes miss it.

Naseem, I salute you for recognising the flawed nature of your religion and your ability to see the superior nature of our western culture. Imperfect though it is, we can both agree that it is what is required in order to bring islam into the modern world. I never thought I would hear you agree with the sentiments of jihadwatch.

I assume it was the murder of benazir bhutto, who you said your mother supported, that brought you round to our way of thinking?

Naseem states: "Jack the Ripper was a practicing christian."

Jesus would COMPLETELY disagree with you on this statement, so stop spreading your nonsense & garbage.

"JESUS SAID, “Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my FATHER who is in heaven."
Matthew 7:21

Read more about this passage here:

Irrespective of what Jesus said in the Bible, commone sense says that Jack was probably a rebrobate and not a "practicing Christian", give me a break.

Devout Christian = doesn't murder
Devout Muslim = does murder

Muhammad encouraged this evil practice, while Jesus condemned murder.

Muhammad is in hell.....

while Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father in heaven.

We have to understand that moslem women believe that their fate is in the hands of the men in their lives. They hold the "keys to the Kingdom" so to speak. If they disobey their men, they will go to hell.

Bukhari:V1B22N28 "The Prophet said: 'I was shown the Hell Fire and the majority of its dwellers were women who are disbelievers or ungrateful.' When asked what they were ungrateful for, the Prophet answered, 'All the favors done for them by their husbands.'"

Too bad Shazhad's parents didn't ask him to marry his sister

It's even worse than that; I remember a story on JW about two years ago in which a young British Muslim woman had her throat slit by her father while **her own mother** held her down. She was also killed in front of her two young nieces. If anyone can find the link to the original story, I'd appreciate it.

There was also the case of the Muslim woman in Denmark whose aunt was complicit in her murder by tricking her into meeting up with male relatives, who then killed her:

Mr. Spencer,

You may want to consider a third category;

“Honor Watch”.

Posted by: Joe Schmoe USA [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 8, 2008 1:55 PM

If Britain, the U.S., and other Western countries are going to continue to allow Muslims into their countries, the least they can do is to nip as much of this Islamic crap in the bud as possible.

A marriage application should ask the Female applicant the question, "was this marriage arranged by your family?"

Her application and answers should be strictly confidential, and if she answers "yes," the intended groom and his parents should be immediately deported.

It's not likely anyone would suggest or accept a proposal for an arranged marriage knowing what the consequences would be.

It would give a young girl the power to put all their ass**es on a boat back home with a single word: "yes".

Posted by: rational [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 8, 2008 1:56 PM

Posted by Naseem..

....then why did he agree to marry her...oh..for the violence and dominance ...I should have known....actually....he never did say "I love You"...his words came out "die you filthy b****"

...It is an Islamic love story...

Posted by: exsgtbrown [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 8, 2008 2:17 PM

Let's use some Muslim "logic" to see if the women should also be held accountable for this killing:

In the Qur'an, Allah has revealed that the woman is ignorant, weak, and basically evil, compared to the man A man can "own" up to 4 women to use as breeding stock, and can beat them if the don't obey. Thus, a Muslim woman is roughly equal to a dog in the Western World.

Why weren't the other dogs arrested and also held liable for the dog killings by Michael Vick? Because you can't expect a dog to prevent the killing by a man, of another dog. Allah knows best...release these women!!

Posted by: Xero G [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 8, 2008 2:24 PM

I like the idea of "Honor Watch" proposed by Joe SCmoe USA. Now that the American cherry has been popped by that Egyptian cabby, I'm sure that other instances will follow. Should it be limited to the U.S. to North America, or to the entire Western World. A global scan would simply be too difficult given the prevalence of honor killing in the ummah.

Naseem, with respect, there is no way that any rational person would describe Shazad Khan as "culturally advanced". He is a deranged, murderous, sub human pervert.

"... I hope this makes sense to you ...". No, Naseem, it does not.

This isn't a workable solution.

Some people from India (and perhaps other countries) still have arranged marriages. Would you suggest deporting them, too? They aren't all Muslims, either.

Just because someone's marriage was arranged doesn't mean it was done against his or her will or that it will end in violence.

(I'm not an advocate of arranged marriages.)

Also, you say her application will be confidential but, if she answers "yes", the groom and his family will be deported. This is not confidentiality. By law, wouldn't the government have to inform the family why they were being deported? If not, the community would likely figure it out after hundreds (thousands?) of men and their families were deported immediately after their brides arrived at the airport. And what would be done with the bride? Her family was involved in the arrangement. I suppose she would be sent back to her home country immediately, too?

Also, what if the groom was born and raised in the U.S. or Great Britain? Where would you have him deported to -- the city he was born in? Why would his parents' or grandparents' home country take him in? Do you think the U.S. or Great Britain could establish such an arrangement with all other countries? I don't.

Even if the government enacted such laws (and I highly doubt this would happen), they wouldn't have the resources to enforce them. And, again, people would just lie, anyway.

Posted by: Josephine [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 8, 2008 4:45 PM

On the role of women in a Moslem community or family, I draw a parallel between them and "Stockholm Syndrom" victums. That has to be why women are enslaved and support their masters in Islam.

The bond has to be broken early or they are forever in "submission". When they DO TRY to get out from the yoke of Islam we see an increase in "honor" killings.

Only in the most superficial formal sense can "these peoples" be described as "British." They may have British citizenship, acquired only because the British, like other Western peoples, have failed to make their requirements for citizenship such that those requirements will intelligently act as a bar to such people.

How interesting that "Naseem" assumes that Jack the Ripper was a "practicing" Christian. Even more interesting is the use of the Ripper as an example of how Christian men behave, as if all Christian men are serial killers of women like the Ripper. The point that seems to be lost on "Naseem" is that the Ripper, like all serial killers, was an aberration, and not the norm, unlike muslim men, who kill women on a regular basis for the flimsiest of pretenses, such as "honor". Killing women is the norm in muslim societies, letting them live is the aberration. I have long suspected that Mohammed was also a serial killer, and that in attempting to emulate him, muslim males have incorporated this aspect of his personality into their daily lives. Religion of peace indeed! More like Religion of senseless murder.

The final cause in this type of murder is usually the useless son's mother and through her the father. They must be made to pay a heavy price if convicted. After years of abuse at her husband's hand, at long last the mother gets a bitch to torment, to kick around. But the girl wouldn't play the part of the meek kitten hence they had to kill her. What part of the girl didn't they take a shine to. Was it her face? Her form? But Khan should have met the girl at least once. Hell the girl although brought up in a Pakistani village may have been more indepedent than the squeezes in the Khan household. She would have set a bad example you see.

The UK, the land of Jane Austen of Winston Churchill need people like these like I need a polyp in my rectum. But we are assured by D'Souza that they stuffed full of family values which we ignore at our peril.

It must take an extreme level of spirituality, far beyond anything an Infidel like myself is capable of, to stand by and do nothing while a man brutally beats his wife to death over a matter of days. I guess this is one of those mysteries of Islam that I will never understand. Is this an Islamic family value?
