Sunni-Shi'ite Jihad Update. "Teen suspect held in Bhutto's killing," by Ishtiaq Mahsud for the Associated Press:
DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan - A teenager who said he was part of a team of assassins sent to kill former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was arrested near the Afghan border, Pakistani officials said Saturday.
The teen also confessed to taking part in a plot to attack Shiites during Ashoura, even as police in Pakistan's far south said they had foiled suicide attacks planned for the Shiite Muslim festival.
In Karachi, police chief Azhar Farouqi said officers detained five men who were in the possession of explosives, detonators and a small quantity of cyanide intended for attacks on this week's Ashoura processions.
"With these arrests we have foiled major attacks," Farouqi said.
The intelligence official said the 15-year-old told investigators that the five-person squad was dispatched to Rawalpindi, where Bhutto was killed, by Baitullah Mehsud, a militant leader with strong ties to al-Qaida and an alliance with the Taliban in nearby Afghanistan, on Afghanistan's northwest border.
The senior official from Pakistan's North West Frontier Province, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media, said the teen was arrested Thursday and was involved in a plot to attack Shiites during an Ashoura festival on Sunday.

Somehow, attacking people while they are beating themselves bloody with chains and knives just seems a little pointless.
Not that there's anything wrong with Ashoura, I don't want to say anything that could be taken as a criticism of another culture. It's just their cultural equivalent of Christmas, or Easter, or Passover, or Diwali. With the addition of blood and knives and chains, since it is the Religion of Peace(tm).

Fat chance, I know ... but the UN needs to take up the brain-washing going on in madrassahs and set guidelines for basic education, to include both boys and girls.
Instead, they seat the representatives of regimes that literally use the pliability of the young mind to destroy the self of the child and use it as a tool of warfare, revenge, and terror.
Regimes taking part in this kind of educational Borg-unit production need to be held to account.

It's not regimes. It's Islam. Islam is the most complete form of child abuse.

It is damaging to JW's purposes and credibility to allow, or even suggest, generalized, indiscriminate violence against Muslims, as such.
Several of us posters have had comments edited or deleted for that very reason, and in light of smear tactics of opponents like CAIR, that was correct and appropriate.

The teenager's confession would seem to support Musharraf's claim that the Bhutto assassination was the work of tribals and not the ISI.
The whole thing smells.
