In any case, note the strong Islamic content of his appeal -- while the learned Western analysts continue to dismiss this, the most prominent feature of what he is saying, as mere window dressing that manifests a deep misunderstanding of the religion.

"Musharraf is Merely the Slave of Bush, the West, and the Infidels"
Interviewer: "Did you pledge allegiance to Mullah Omar?"
By'atullah Mahsoud: "We pledged allegiance to the Emir of the Believers in the past, and Allah willing, our allegiance to him will continue infinitely. He is our religious Emir, and our allegiance to him stems from the love and respect we have for him."
The Emir of the Believers is a title of the Caliph -- so apparently Mahsoud accepts Omar's shaky claim to the caliphate.
Interviewer: "What do you hope to achieve by this coalition? What are your goals? What are your plans for the future?"By'atullah Mahsoud:"The goal of our coalition is to conduct defensive jihad. The Pakistani army is induced by Bush to send its forces here, and it bombs our homes and fights us. Therefore, we established this coalition in order to provide security to Muslim individuals and Muslim society. The Pakistani army employs tactics of deceit. It wages war in South Waziristan, while it maintains a truce in North Waziristan. Then it wages war in North Waziristan, and maintains a truce in Bajaur. Then it wages war in Bajaur, and maintains a truce in Swat. This is a policy of deceit. We established this coalition in order to confront the deceit of the army and its soldiers’ attacks.

"Musharraf is merely the slave of Bush, the West, and the infidels. Musharraf is subjugated to his masters. The Muslims in the tribal regions have suffered greatly at his hands, while our Arab and non-Arab brothers who have come here in order to defend Islam and the people, and in order to protect Pakistan - Musharraf has declared war against them, at the direct command of Bush. Some of them have been martyred, and others have been handed over to the Americans. All this did not satisfy Musharraf, who attacked the mosques, killing women, children, and youth inside. His motivation in doing this was to please Bush. We say that Musharraf persecuted the Muslims, demonstrated injustice towards them, and destroyed mosques."

"Above all, we are Muslims, Allah be praised. Islam does not allow us to kill women and children. Using a nuclear bomb leads to the killing of children, women, the weak, and the elderly. We cannot kill all these people, and so we do not think about using a nuclear bomb.

"All Muslims are brothers. The Taliban have the Emir of the Believers. He is not only the Emir of the Afghani people, but the Emir of the Believers throughout the world. We pledged allegiance to him, and we have the strongest ties with him. We consider Muslims - even in America - to be our brothers. With regard to Al-Qaeda, they are Muslims, and the Islamic zeal that runs in their veins is very rare. Al-Qaeda has fought heresy head-on, and confronted it with their weapons. They are our brothers, and Allah willing, we will remain brothers, and we will serve them, even if they ask us to sacrifice our heads for their sakes."

Interviewer: "Have you ever had any connection with Al-Zarqawi, Al-Zahawiri, or bin Laden?"
By'atullah Mahsoud: "Before Al-Zarqawi left for Iraq, he was in our region with us. We had strong relations with him. After America began committing injustice in Iraq, he went over there, and he had an extraordinary role. With regard to Osama and Al-Zawahiri, I never met them, but I have the utmost love and respect for them, because of their enmity towards the Jews and the Christians. The Muslims must be harsh towards the infidels and compassionate among themselves. These two men reflect this Koranic verse. Their enmity towards the Jews and the Christians is strong, and therefore, I respect them.[...]
That's Qur'an 48:29: "Muhammad is the apostle of Allah. Those who follow him are merciful to one another, but harsh to the unbelievers."
"We Muslims are united, and we will wage jihad in Afghanistan and in Pakistan. We will fight jihad in Palestine, Bosnia, and Iraq as well. This is our religious duty, and in Islam, there is no text that says that a certain place is Pakistan, and another place is Afghanistan. There are no borders in Islam. We fight the Jews and the Christians in Afghanistan out of ideological motives."Interviewer: "Did you send your fighters to Afghanistan to participate in battle alongside the Taliban?"
By'atullah Mahsoud: "We fought alongside the Taliban, and we will continue to do so full force. The enemies have come from distant places. They have come from many Western countries, for the sake of money, and they kill for the sake of money. We, on the other hand, are Muslims. Our goal is to please our God and to raise the banner of monotheism. Yes, we send and will continue to send young men to the battlefronts in Afghanistan."

By'atullah Mahsoud: "We are by no means sorry when we kill them. They carry out the orders of the West and America, and destroy our homes. That is why we kill them, although I pray that Allah will guide them, because Pakistan is an Islamic country. But when the army soldiers come here to fight us, we will kill them, because the presence of the army and its soldiers here is in response to the orders of the infidels and Bush.

Our determination is great, and it is directly entirely against Britain and America. The soldiers of heresy who have come here to oppress the Muslims - we will respond to their injustice and tyranny. One of the miracles of jihad will be that sooner or later, we will destroy their countries."

Can we have back the $30 billion given to Pakistan, in grants and military equipment and food and debt relief, by the United States alone, since 9/11/2001? What with our bridges and roads falling down, and our trains needing new track, and the need to subsidize mass transit, and Medicare costs "for our seniors" (god, I hate that phrase), and so on. Please. Maybe just $20 billion of it? $10? Would $2 billion be too much for Pakistan to give back? Doesn't Saudi Arabia alone have more than a trillion dollars in reserves? And what about the U.A.E.? Kuwait? Qatar? Please, we really need it. How about $1 billion? Would that be okay? We really need to pay for more security guards and surveillance equipment and lawyers and judges and more police and FBI agents at home, not least because of some former residents of Pakistan? So P-l-e-a-s-e?
How about giving a million of it back then? Would that be okay?

I think this specific statement is interesting, too. Mehsud's invoking the doctrine of Loyalty and Enmity, which Zawahiri spent a long time explicating in an essay I recently read. The gist is that true Muslims are always loyal to each other no matter what and always feel hatred ("Enmity," as Mehsud said) toward non-Muslims regardless of any ties, including kinship. When you think about it, it's similar to the ways modern cults take total control over their followers.
It's kind of scary that, after all these years, I'm beginning to understand what these maniacs are talking about.

Any Muslim who levies a violent threat against the West should be considered an enemy combatant. I'm serious. This is serious business we're experiencing now. They've elevated this struggle to a choice between Western Civilization or their version of a nightmarish Caliphate. The sooner we realize that their speech isn't saber rattling the sooner we realize that the jihadist has self-identified as such, and is now a target of war. Why? Because this is war. This isn't an ideological exchange. This isn't opining from an ivory tower. This is a Captain, of a jihadist faction, stating his objective. Until we look at them in a realistic light and takes measures to eliminate the threat with a combination of political will and military might, they will gain footholds in their effort to subdue the free world. I just don't see the point in letting them get to the point where they can cause real and traumatic casualties to our populations.

I've a co-worker, a Paki, who will return shortly after a month back home/PAK...presumably for Eid (I will be looking for any telltale bandaids on his head..whatever)....he'll go through the same frisks, beltless, shoeless, and x rayed we all do, but the damage AKA weapons he carries are in his head. I feel less safe everytime he returns from PAK...the POTUS candidates just aren't talking about this..as the last poster said, Pakistan isn't a country but a Chimera..interestingly he informed a new coworker in front of me that he had one son when I knew he had two (neither died in the graphic or biblical sense) and I got the feeling the "former"son was now an apostate..you could viscerally feel the love-not-in his presence when that statement was made...and the beat goes on..and on...TX JW and fellow posters

If you've read one jihadi spouting bombast and Islamic invective, you've heard them all. There is a certain scripted quality to their public pronouncements. Bottom line: they are intoxicated with the prospect of mayhem and death, just as their founding hero, Muhammad, whom they are so fond of quoting.

the guy who is being interviewed is holding a rosary with a cross on it in his lap/fingers.
also he says he gets booty/money from the kitty after he completes their missions as support for fighting. meanwhile he says others are just in it for the money!
i wonder who else has seen these interviews in our government? why is there no response in the general online stations like fox, cnn, msnbc, etc?

I recall National Geographic or Discover channel once had a documentary about the 2 Jews in Afghanistan (or was it just Kabul), who are not on talking terms with one another. That aspect was sad. If I'm not mistaken, the largest non-Muslim group in Afghanistan are the Sikhs.
Of course, Mahsoud is probably thinking about the Jews that might be member of the NATO troops.

I'm not sure that one could call this a fake - I think that the sentiments expressed are probably genuine - but the clip on MEMRI wasn't shot in Pakistan or Afghanistan. It was shot in North-West Iran near Lake Urmia (Ormiyeh) just off the Martyr Kalantari highway. The unique spotted vegetation and the light quality - golden sulphate reflection - completely gives the game away. Also the hills, and rise and fall soft formations, are uniquely characteristic of that part of the world. Couple that with the distictive Sodium Chloride and Sulphate deposition banding in the opening frames which completely give the game away. Either it's shot near Lake Urmia or it's shot somewhere within a hundred miles of Salt Lake City in Utah. Which is more likely, do you think?
This a fake video but it's certainly not fake Islamism - although I wouldn't be too sure of that, either, since we're not allowed to hear the underlying tribal (I assume) language in any way enough to identify it - although my untrained ears, with what little I could hear, rather thought that the underlying language was Bakhtiari - a language chiefly spoken in mid-South-Western Iran (in the provinces of Ilam, Lorestan, Khuzestan, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari all of which are hotbeds of various radical Islamist movements which rabidly support the mullahocracy in Tehran.

BTW, the voice of the interviewer in the MEMRI clip is the same voice as the reporter (?) who talked over the captured Royal Navy personel on Iranian TV last year - or at least it sounds like him when you compare them. (Use http://www.iran.tv/ if your ISP allows - most block this so use the Taiwanese way in with the proxy server to see (hear) what I am talking about).

Somewhere in my old floppies there is pre 9-11 copy of a fatwah from the defunct Chechen terror site: qoqaz.net. In same there is an explicit defense of the reasons why the murder of women and children is just conduct for the slaves-of-allah. The torching of Taif was not necessary to effect military victory; he did it for revenge, as did he inflict revenge on the Meccan leadership.

It isn't only the billions of dollars torched by the Bush Crime Family; it is the high technology that he put in the hands of the Paki ISI. And prior to 9-11, Waziris and Pashtos were impoverished; now cell phones are everywhere. Then there are heroin factories that didn't exist until the jihad subsidy commenced. The US media refuses to touch the Helmand heroin industry that is financing the murder of Americans.
Read my lips: Pashtos like Kharzai do NOT want nation building; they want Taliban dictatorship, propped by the murderous commerce of heroin in Europe and Asia.
