Trying to stir up outrage? "Iran Invites Islamic Ambassadors to Wilders Meeting," from NIS News (thanks to all who sent this in):
THE HAGUE, 01/02/08 - Iranian Ambassador Ziaran intends to invite all Islamic ambassadors in the Netherlands for a meeting on Party for Freedom (PVV) leader Geert Wilders' film on the Koran.Ziaran met this week with the LBM, a new umbrella of Moroccan organisations in the Netherlands. On NOS Journaal, the daily TV news of public broadcaster NOS, he said he would organise a meeting with the ambassadors of Islamic countries shortly on the already-controversial film that Wilders has said he plans to air in March.
LBM, chaired by former leftwing Greens (GroenLinks) MP Mohammed Rabbae called on Ziaran to issue a message to the Iranian people not to react violently to the film, in which Wilders wants to portray the Koran as a fascist book. Ziaran could not guarantee that the streets of Tehran would remain calm.
According to De Volkskrant, Ziaran warned the Netherlands that the lives of its troops in Afghanistan may be endangered by Wilders. The newspaper yesterday quoted him as saying that the Afghans would "regard the Dutch troops as representatives of people who besmirch the Koran".

'Wilders wants to portray the koran as a fascist book'
But it IS a fascist book. No portrayal needed. It's like saying he wants to 'portray' Mein Kampf as a fascist book.

I wish this film would hurry up and get released.

As if the Dutch in Afghanistan are looked at positively by the Afghans and other Muslim's now.
Does anyone think coalition troops are safe in Afghanistan if they don't air this film, what a bunch of crap.
Muslim's will always view non-Muslim's as inferior beings not worthy of sharing the same soil, to hell with what they think.

"Ziaran could not guarantee that the streets of Tehran would remain calm."
Of course not, the Islamic world wants to show their displeasure by reacting violently and ironically prove Wilder correct.

They should endorse John McCAIR the CAIRorist cuddler while they are at it.

The Danish MO cartoons were printed, nothing happened until 3 months later when violence erupted in the middle east. Why? Because some radical Islamists took off for the middle east and stirred up the rabid frenzy among the weak minded Islamic fools who never even saw the cartoons in the first place.
So, just to be on time, the Islamic fools are starting the hate operation early, ahead of the film debut. Can't miss a good media venue you know.
Go figure.

Publish the film and let the jihadists howl. I have a right to hear what he has to say about the Koran.
Reasonable people will judge the film on the merits of its arguments.
The police and courts should be ready to punish severely anyone who advocates violence against those exercising this freedom of speech.

Ziaran warned the Netherlands that the lives of its troops in Afghanistan may be endangered by Wilders.
What? Did Wilders announce he was converting, er 'reverting', to fight with the Tallybananas?
Ziaran could not guarantee that the streets of Tehran would remain calm.
Good. Maybe Iran should think about restricting Muslim immigration.

That sounds like collective punishment. I await condemnation from the various Palestinian Human Rights groups, et al.

Of course these folks will not act violently! (Wink, wink, nod, nod).

The threats are not even veiled. Why wait for the film? Hasn't Wilders "insulted" the Koran enough already? Let's get the party started already. And does anyone in the Netherlands really care if the streets of Tehran are not "calm"? Maybe the mobs in Iran can be incited to just burn their own cities down without us having to lift a finger.

...can't wait to see the rage boy types stomping in Tehran, burning flags, cars and buildings, carrying hate banners and burning effigies, shouting hate slogans and otherwise acting like Muslims....just so I can show my friends and be able to say ...."SEE!...this is what you do not want in your neighborhood....Ban Muslim Immigration>".....

Special re-release screening?
How many thumbs up (or for that matter down) can a film get if the judges don't bother to see it first? Why don't they wait until it is released, then see it along with the rest of us, and then we can all calmly discuss it, as befits ladies and gentlemen, outside the cinema itself, far from the popcorn being noisily munched, and those sloshing paper cups of coca-cola, and even those...dare one mention, luxenbergishly, those packages of raisinets, the very promise of which has, inthe past, driven Muslim men to distraction, and worse.

exsgtbrown,
You know what you can ask your friends when that happens? Ask them if they know why they are rioting, burning cars and such? When they say no, you tell them, "Because a Dutch politician said that Qur'an advocates violence".

If the Iranians wish to Riot and Trash their own Capitol, Go for it! Get really, really mad about it.
It is the Backbone of the Netherlanders we are concerned about.
I see a big, angry, pity party where the Troops most threatened are not in Afcrapistan.

Afghans would "regard the Dutch troops as representatives of people who besmirch the Koran"
And this differs from the current Jihad policy of Islam how?
DOESN'T MATTER WHAT ANY INFIDEL DOES WE ARE AT WAR ... Jeez so stupid.

Actually, anticipation and fuming over Geert's Blaspharama have been building for the past couple weeks. It really got going last week when he "threatened" to release a 10-min video "within days." Iran threatened to "reconsider its ties" with Holland, Syria's grand wizard warned of "formenting war," and the Dutch government went on high alert issuing warnings to expats to prepare for attacks and contact embassies. The Dutch government also went into emergency talk with local immams and convinced them to issue a statement urging calm. This "falling out of line" appears to be what has upset the Iranian godfathers into calling for this "family meeting."
Of course, the OIC and the UN have chimed in against free speech, but unfortunately ... so has the U.S. military command for eastern Afghanistan!!

The hypocracy all around is astounding. Free speech? Democracy? No compulsion in religion? Collective punishment? And what does it say when a government that promotes the "Religion of Peace" mantra ASSUMES Islam's adherents will react violently to non-violent provocations? Google news about "Geert Wilders" for a preview of what's to come.

"While his party does favor immigration restrictions, especially from non-western countries; the corresponding surge in popularity provides a suspicious motive for his latest “exercise in free speech.” resulting in at least 5 deaths."
The American military is against free speech for the Dutch.
This is not reassuring.

It seems we will just have to wait and see if Balkenende the Prime Minister is made of the same stuff as the Danish Prime Minister, or as the Danes would put it a pair of Nosser. I'll let you work out the meaning of the last word.

Maybe Barack Obama would like to host a meeting with these Islamic ambassadors...

Alaskan1000 - my thoughts exactly - this has all the appearances of a declaration of war by Iran on Holland. I think that unless Iran recalls and rebukes their ambassador, the Netherlands should return the favor and back it up with some action. 1. recall their ambassador and expel Iran's; 2. start deportations immediately; 3. begin overt hostilities (i.e. stop playing defense and rev up some offense)

Too bad the Dutch don't arrest the entire bunch when they meet. Such a meeting is obviously intended to cause trouble.

Ziaran could not guarantee that the streets of Tehran would remain calm.
It's those darn 'streets' again.
And just who are these Iranian 'streets' going to get violent toward? Wilders wont be there, Rushdie won't be there, Olmert won't be there, Robert Spencer won't be there either. So just who will be the target of the not so calm streets? Burn some cars? Fight the police? Wreck their own neighborhoods? Go to it guys, while you are doing all that rioting, I am going to throw another log on the fire and watch it snow.

"The American military is against free speech for the Dutch." - Leonthepigfarmer
This week, (Monday), National Public Radio's Diane Rehm interviewed General John Craddock, the US Army's Supreme Allied Commander, European Command.A caller asked the General for his thoughts on the Afghan Government's charges of blasphemy against an Afghan journalist. The General's answer was not at all encouraging- amounting to a lot of blather about cultural differences, and how democracy in Afghanistan was different from democracy as we know it. In short ,a stinking pile of equivocation. Above the rank of Lt. Col., many officers are politicians first, officers second.

If we had real leaders in the West, they'd send letters to the meeting telling these Muslim Ambassadors that their opinion of Mr. Wilder's film is of no interest to us at all, that their moral views are totally incompatible with the moral views of Western societies, and we have no intention of accomodating ourselves to the immoral, primitive, backwards, barbaric morality that they represent.

define: besmirch
# defame: charge falsely or with malicious intent; attack the good name and reputation of someone; "The journalists have defamed me! ...
This such an old fashion word. I know what it means but thought I would look it up. As usual it is completely out of context. It would only defame or be false or slander if it were not true.
The antonyms are commend, compliment, exalt, flatter, honor, laud, praise, puff. These are not the correct words either.
The best word would be, expose, as in shine the light on something. Make know, comes to mind, but not besmirch NO, NO!
Proverbs 4:19
But the way of the wicked is like complete darkness. Those who follow it have no idea what they are stumbling over.
امثال 4:19
ولكن الطريق من الاشرار هو مثل الظلام الكامل. الذين يتبعون لها اي فكرة ما هي عليه على مدى المتعثره.
