Iraqi hospital chief linked to al-Qaida

He supplied the mentally handicapped women for the recent Baghdad jihad/martyrdom bombings. And so yet again someone who was no doubt thought of by many as a "moderate" proves to be otherwise.

From AP (thanks to all who sent this in):

BAGHDAD - The acting administrator of a psychiatric hospital in Baghdad has been detained on suspicion that he played a role in supplying patient information to al-Qaida in Iraq, the U.S. military said Wednesday.

Rear Adm. Gregory Smith, a military spokesman, said U.S. and Iraqi forces arrested the man in his office Sunday and conducted a "thorough search" of the al-Rashad psychiatric hospital in Baghdad.

"Coalition forces detained a hospital administrator in connection with the possible exploitation of mentally impaired women to al-Qaida," Smith said.

"The administrator remains in coalition force detention and is being questioned to determine what role if any in supplying al-Qaida with information regarding patients at the al-Rashad psychiatric hospital or from other medical facilities in Baghdad," he added.

He said the man, whom he did not identify, was detained as part of the investigation into the Feb. 1 bombings of two crowded pet markets in Baghdad. He said he could not provide more details, citing the ongoing investigation.

U.S. and Iraqi officials blamed al-Qaida for the bombings and said the bombers were two mentally disabled women strapped with remote-control explosives and apparently did not know they were being used. Iraqi officials put the death toll at 99 in both attacks....

It makes sense. If you are going to rid yourself of the mentally disabled, why not have an administrator of a mental hospital supply you with the info. So many have mentioned the connection of islam and the Final Solution - Islam Version. But it appears they also are employing eugenics now.

When these bombings first occurred, I took the term "mentally disabled" to mean the women were mentally retarded. But now it seems to mean that they were suffering from insanity. Well, duh! Of course they were, they were Moslems, weren't they? It often seems that all Moslems are suffering from mental disorders. Consider: they believe in a holy book that is 20% pure jabberwock, that devotes another 20% or so to toilet training, and still another 20% or so to descriptions of gruesome punishments for unbelievers. In what's left, half is contradicted ("abrogated") by the other half. And the whole works was relayed to the world by a "prophet" who couldn't tell when he was being addressed by an authentic angel of the Lord, and when by Satan in disguise. They're ALL "mentally disabled". When some of them come to their senses, and leave Islam, the others kill them.

California USA state mental institutions, supposed to be some of the best, are also hell holes. I can only imagine what an Iraqi psych hospital must be like.
Don't think clean, clinical, therapeutic, think Bedlam, think brutality, think chaos and filth.
Probably next to jail/prison, a mental hospital in the MI is the worse place to end up. The only way out is feet first.
A psychiatric technician (attendant) was overheard to say that 'mental patients are not human and deserve no consideration'. And this from a guy who was paid to be therapeutic.
However, this is a common attitude, expressed mainly by deeds, rather than vocally.
I wonder how muslims, especially those lacking education, view a psychotic person. Possessed by Allah? Possessed by some demon? An Allah reject?
Is it anti-Islamic to born deficient, or become mentally ill?
How do the mentally ill and deficient fit into Allah's gift of Islamic perfection?
It's probably more of this than anything, 'mental patients are not human and deserve no consideration'. This attitude makes brutality, even atrocity, possible and easy.
The Islamic variation of that seems to be, 'These are Allah's rejects and therefore expendable'.
Of course when it comes to pleasing Allah, all people and animals, even the furniture, are expendable. In reality, this is sick stuff, very destructive and dangerous.
And that's 'without jihad'. I am surprised that there is such a thing as an Iraq mental facility,
but I am not surprised that these deficient people are being used as weapons...

Ibrahim Muhammad Agel, director of the hospital, was killed in the Mansour district of Baghdad on December 11 by gunmen on motorbikes. Colleagues suspect that he was shot for refusing to cooperate with al-Qaeda.

Sounds like the acting administrator got the message and decided to cooperate with them.

I cannot understand how Ebonystone can presume to make fun about the slaughter of these innocents. These women had Down's syndrome. Have you ever seen a Down's case? They are inoffensive, confused, harmless, trusting. They are the kind of person any sane human being would instinctively protect, because their lack of guile and complete helplessness. To use their trust to slaughter them and as many innocents as possible is beyond barbarous; it is beyond human.

I do not have the words to express my rage. I want to howl, to scream, to yell till my fury roars from one end of the Earth to the other. I want to roar till the words and the meaning enter the deafest moonbat mind: how can anyone even begin to think of peace or negotiation, of one minute's ceasefire, with creatures such as these? To give them the grace of a second's rest would be, for that second, to deny our own humanity: to admit that there is something tolerable, something remotely endurable, about this kind of crime. Never! Rather war for a thousand years, war till the end of time; rather a million dead dying as men and like men, dying for the sake of humanity, of decency, of justice, than to purchase our peace at the price of tolerating such filth even for the space of a breath.

That, and much more, is what I would tell the world, if I were anyone important. As it is, I can only sketch it here. But I do not like that, on top of the hideous degradation of innocence we have all seen and heard, Ebonystone should come and presume to mock the victims.

How lovely. In a just world, this coprolite would be coated in bacon fat from a Marine Corps mess hall, bound hand and foot and delivered to one of the families of the kids who perished in the explosion.

Paolo, apparently my posting led to some misunderstanding of my meaning. In my understanding, mental retardation is not the same thing as insanity, and would not be treatable in a psychiatric hospital. And I believe Down's Syndrome is a form of retardation. As far as I know, retardation is a birth defect, one does not develop it. And the use of a mentally retarded person as a suicide bomber is thoroughly despicable.
I meant to express my confusion: the first reports said they were "disabled", which I thought a curious term, but took to mean "retarded". Then they were said to have Down's Syndrome, a form of retardation. But now this article connects them to a psychiatric hospital-- which to me is a place for the insane, not the retarded.
In any case, my mockery was aimed (perhaps poorly) at Islam, not at its victims.

Soon after the Pet Market bombings were first reported, and the bombers identified as innocent Downs Syndrome patients, a poster here (sorry, I don't remember who it was now) noted how each detail made this case worse and worse--how it was not enough that civilians were targetted, but that they were mostly families, children and animals. How the bombers were women, how they were remotely detonated, how they were mentally disabled.

Well, now there is a new bit of infamy, if it is indeed true that the women were supplied to Al-Qaeda by an administrator at the very hospital that was giving them shelter.

You may well be right , that the administrator was coerced, even threatened. This does not ameliorate the fact that this administrator betrayed his most vunerable patients.

Paolo. I share your outrage. This is shear evil--and yet there are still those who would minimise or excuse these actions.

Ebonystone, I think you may well be splitting hairs. It is true that today in the West a great distiction is made--rightly--between the developmentally disabled and those suffering from mental illness. It certainly makes a great difference in how the patient is treated.

But this is a fairly recent development. In times past, the retarded, schizoprenics, and trauma victims tended to wind up in the same inadequate facilities. I see no reason to think that the situation is any different in Baghdad.

gravenimage,
It wasn't my intent to excuse the actions of this administrator. If he did what we suspect, he betrayed everyone who ever came to his hospital.
Instead, we should be aware that there aren't enough people willing to stand up and fight. They will cave when the pressure is on. They will give in to animals in al qaeda. They have no principles that are worth defending with their own lives, although they are very good at defending principles(?) which require them to take OUR lives. Are they worth our blood and treasure? We can't do for them what they won't do for themselves. We shouldn't be blackmailed by people who use the example of the first man - the one who was killed. His example should make every Iraqi ashamed of the second and willing to make sure the first man didn't die in vain. Instead they sit back and do nothing.
Far from excusing him, the example of the prior administrator only makes this one look craven and cowardly. I fear that too many people are like him - they'll blow with the wind. They're not worth our time or our trouble and they most certainly aren't worth the lives of our young people.
