Saudi rulers threatened to make it easier for jihadists to attack London unless corruption investigations into their arms deals were halted

This ought to be front-page headline news all over the world. Why isn't it?

And is the State Department looking into the implications of this? Or will Bush return hat-in-hand to Saudi Arabia, in the spirit of his recent (rejected) request for a lowering of oil prices, and ask, Please, Sir, will you ease up on the global jihad?

Can there really be any further doubt about which side the Saudis are on?

Friend and Ally Update: "BAE: secret papers reveal threats from Saudi prince," by David Leigh and Rob Evans in The Guardian (thanks to Davida):

Saudi Arabia's rulers threatened to make it easier for terrorists to attack London unless corruption investigations into their arms deals were halted, according to court documents revealed yesterday.

Previously secret files describe how investigators were told they faced "another 7/7" and the loss of "British lives on British streets" if they pressed on with their inquiries and the Saudis carried out their threat to cut off intelligence.

Prince Bandar, the head of the Saudi national security council, and son of the crown prince, was alleged in court to be the man behind the threats to hold back information about suicide bombers and terrorists. He faces accusations that he himself took more than £1bn in secret payments from the arms company BAE.

He was accused in yesterday's high court hearings of flying to London in December 2006 and uttering threats which made the prime minister, Tony Blair, force an end to the Serious Fraud Office investigation into bribery allegations involving Bandar and his family.

The threats halted the fraud inquiry, but triggered an international outcry, with allegations that Britain had broken international anti-bribery treaties.

Lord Justice Moses, hearing the civil case with Mr Justice Sullivan, said the government appeared to have "rolled over" after the threats. He said one possible view was that it was "just as if a gun had been held to the head" of the government.

Read it all.

This news ought to bring a vote of "no confidence" in Parliament, and a new election, at the very least.

That's ok. Its all ok actually. After all, if this is what these Wahabis thugs want, they reinforce GREAT reasons to want to flatten the Kaaba (The Muslim Spooky Stone)...come to think of it, if the Silver Lined Silly Stone were destroyed and big tough moon god Allah did nothing magical to stop it, exactly what is so powerful about Islam and its absurd god?

While we can laugh/cry at England's reduced state as a cringing, cowardly beggar, would the U.S. have stood up to these insects?

Those trim little beards and that haughty manner. Why do Saudi elite always look like 'The Devil' in a cheap production of Faustus?

Posted by: poetcomic1 [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 15, 2008 10:10 AM
But a paper trail set out in court showed that days after Bandar flew to London to lobby the government, Blair had written to the attorney general, Lord Goldsmith, and the SFO was pressed to halt its investigation.

Blair. The very same Blair that wants to be the next President of the EU.

The former prime minister's name was put in the frame yesterday by Nicolas Sarkozy, the French President, who described Mr Blair as "a very remarkable man – the most European of all Britons." He added: "To think of him would be a good idea."

Churchill spins in his grave.

Considering this was kept a secret, how would we know?

Yep, we should be enjoying free crude oil after 9-11.

Obviously not. It's not in the script. You can't talk about a religion that's been hijacked by a few wayward souls and then have the leader of the Muslim world be shown to follow the exact same tenets as the "misunderstanders".

The US is merely going after a private company. They're not going after the Saudis. Bandar has diplomatic immunity. In fact, US arms dealers would probably support this. If BAE is out of the way that means more business for them.

This really is shocking and very worrisome.

It makes me feel ashamed to be an Englishman - and angry, after my father and both grandfathers fought in world wars 1 and 2.
We are being misrepresented here.

They can shove their weapons deals and their oil where the sun doesn't shine.

I've had enough of the current British government now, what with the multicultural disaster they have inflicted on a people who do not want it but have to suffer it - and their cringing dhimmitude.
It's time for them to go, so we can claim our country and our dignity and pride back.
Rant over...

Churchill is, indeed, rolling over in his grave. What the Nazis failed to achieve with force, the Saudis are doing with money.

Shame.

Ken CleanAirSystem,

Remember your rant when it's time to vote.

Others have said Labour stinks but it's better than the rest. That pragmatism suggests a fourth term for Labour.

We get what we vote for and too often now it's the least worst option. As long as Western voters are willing to settle for multicultural dhimmitude in the name of political correctness, it's what we'll get.

What I mean, Aunt Bea, is would the US cower before the Saudis like the British do? Well, we did right after 9/11 when Bush helped Bin Laden's family flee our jurisdiction, so my money is on "Yes."

Indeed. But who do you have in mind who would do differently? I see no one.
And don't forget, the EU has got us in the short hairs.

Posted by: pr126 [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 15, 2008 12:31 PM

pr126,

I would vote for Kylie Minogue if it meant the end of Labour in power.
Labour have had long enough now and it is time for fresh blood in power.

Do you think the tories could possibly do any worse than this shower?

We have an unelected one eyed Scotsman in charge now, who seems hellbent on giving our country away.

They have ploughed headlong into seperating Scotland and Wales from the UK which will only result eventually in Brussels regarding them as meer adminstrative areas under their control.
Most of the electorate don't seem to have seen this issue on their triumphant march to their glorious "self rule" and proud nationalism away from the English.

With regard to the EU, why have the Labour party consistently denied the citizens of this country a referendum on our position in Europe?
Is it because they know it will go against their intent?

Some democracy, huh?

Western goverments that cannot stand up for their own national security have no right to exist.

I agree this should be front and center MSM. Come on Fox News run with this article.

It,s to late for England i,m sad to say your leaders were morons and allowed mass islamic migartion and down the line you are going to pay with civil war the muslims when they feel they have the power will look to impose Sharia and you will have to fight.

I hope you have a healthy birth rate in england because you are going to need plenty of fighting age men and i am serious when i say this i can,t believe what i see hapening in Britain.

Posted by: stevenz [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 15, 2008 2:50 PM

I assume this is taking place in Britain?

A magnificently resonant phrase from the article:

"Lord Justice Moses, hearing the civil case with Mr Justice Sullivan..".

What SHOULD a 'Lord Justice' be called, but...MOSES? Is this guy Jewish, as his name suggests? I hope so - and I hope he doesn't have a dhimmi bone in his body. May the wisdom of Maimonides inspire him.

And Sullivan...now *there's* a good, solid Irish name.

Let the jihad plotters beware when a Jewish judge and an Irish judge embark on the legal warpath together!

From G K Chesterton (writing just before WWI, but it is more approriate for Britain today, and for the whole of 'the west', and indeed, the entire non-Muslim world, than it has ever been before):

O God of earth and altar
bow down and hear our cry,
our earthly rulers falter
our people drift and die;
THE WALLS OF GOLD ENTOMB US,
the swords of scorn divide,
take not thy thunder from us
but take away our pride.

FROM ALL THAT TERROR TEACHES,
FROM LIES OF TONGUE AND PEN,
FROM ALL THE EASY SPEECHES,
THAT COMFORT CRUEL MEN.
FROM SALE AND PROFANATION
OF HONOUR AND THE SWORD,
FROM SLEEP, AND FROM DAMNATION,
deliver us, good Lord.

Tie in a living tether
the prince and priest and thrall;
bind all our lives together
smite us and save us all.
In ire and exultation
aflame with faith, AND FREE,
LIFT UP A LIVING NATION,
A SINGLE SWORD, TO THEE.

{G K Chesterton 1874-1036).

I suppose the refusal to share intelligence isn't a casus belli, but it would have been awfully tempting to come back with, "I beg Your Highness to remember that Her Majesty's Government disposes of some bombs as well, while your government possesses splendid targets."

Of course, a quiet, "We do not allow foreign corporations or their official patrons to ride roughshod over our laws," would have been enough.

Here is a very informative link detailing Saudi Arabia's role in the world today.

Please read it all if you can.

The answer is obviously YES! Otherwise the US (and UK) would have invaded Saudi Arabia instead of Iraq. The world would certainly be a better place now if they had.

I'll leave you to surmise the reason why Saudi still hasn't been attacked, after all, it's the hub of all this crap the world is currently going through.

At some point, hopefully sooner rather than later, the free world is going to have to go and take those oil fields and eliminate the islamic threat. I guess it will be after mushroom clouds go off in Europe and the USA though.

Hello...

I've been lurking here for ages but never felt the urge to post till reading this.

I'm ashamed of my country really, to see how we suck up to these international criminals, these cruel, corrupt playboys lying cheating and destabilising everything.

What can we do ? What can I do?
I see no way out of this.

Posted by: boris99 [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 16, 2008 8:49 AM

boris99, We here in America do not allow ourselves to necessarily be defined by our leaders, so therefore I believe that the jihadists which include the saudis have yet to wake a sleeping giant. I can tell you that my family is heavily armed for anything that comes down the pike. It is a shame that your politcos do not have the courage that a Geert Wilders has. They are frightened by the propect of losing their oil connection. But no worry. We're gonna make them obsolete one day.I promise you that the majority of true blooded Americans will stand up and fight to the bitter end to keep our freedoms. Look at what happened with the illegal immigrant legislation that congress tried to ram down our throats several months ago. The people spoke up and it was stopped. You do have a voice and you cannot let fear guide you. That's what the islamists want. They want you to stay silent while they go to their mosques and scream about killing you all the time. I suggest that you and like minded people join and/or form a coalition and build up support to reclaim your country.

If you can, try to imagine viewing current events as if from the vantage point of a (The) Creator God, the One who made the heavens and the earth, and the beautiful rainbows, sunsets, sunrises, ... etc., etc., etc.

You are now like a free Spirit wandering around and viewing things from inside the minds of your human creation, ... there are the intentions of the Saudi players with that Qu'ranic vomitus smearing all the thoughts and deeds their minds conjure up at any given moment, and then their are the ...? Hay! Whoa! Where are the good guys in all this!?

This post needs further work to bring out exactly what I have in mind, though ... I gotta go do something else for the rest of the day.

Hugh, Robert, ... top of the day!

Bye.
