Top military adviser to Iran's supreme leader says Israel faces "certain death"

Still more genocidal sabre-rattling. "Israel faces 'certain death': Iran leader adviser," from Agence France-Presse:

TEHRAN (AFP) — The assassination of a top commander of the Lebanese Shiite militant group Hezbollah has hastened the "certain death" of Israel, the top military adviser to Iran's supreme leader said on Thursday.
General Yahya Rahim Safavi, in the latest of a spate of anti-Israel verbal attacks by Iran, said the murder of Imad Mughnieh in a Damascus car bombing last week had enraged thousands of young members of Hezbollah.
"With this anger, the certain death of the Zionist regime had been brought forward," he said, according to the state-run IRNA news agency.
Safavi, who was for a decade top commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, again accused Israel of carrying out the attack that killed Mughnieh but also said that "security terrorists" from the United States and "one Arab nation" had cooperated.
He did not name the Arab country.
Iran has stepped up its rhetoric against Israel in the last days after the murder of Mughnieh, which it blamed on the Jewish state. Israel has denied any involvement.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday called Israel a "dirty microbe" and "savage animal".
The current head of the Revolutionary Guards, Iran's ideological army, Mohammad Ali Jafari, weighed in with a prediction that Hezbollah would destroy the Jewish state.
Israel said it had protested to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon after Ahmadinejad's latest tirade.
"I have told the secretary general of the United Nations that these are demented remarks that are reminiscent of Nazi propaganda," ambassador to the United Nations Dan Gillerman told Israeli public radio.

Indeed.

Pretty typical comments from those poor, persecuted Muslims, who are just like our civil rights protestors, right, Condi?

Tell me something I haven't already heard. They sound like a broken record (wish they were).

And people in the US media (particularly Barbara Slavin of USA Today) blame the US for Iran's behavior. If only Bush hadn't included them in the axis of evil and then turned down Iranian efforts at rapprochement in 2002-03 they wouldn't be so bad right now. She practically said we forced them to violate human rights. We made them lock up dissidents.

Iran is destined to be very disappointed in where their present path will lead them.

Iran is begging for a crushing military defeat. I hope a good one is in the offing soon.

alexon - I agree - and they are long overdue their just desserts.

I can't remember the exact quote, but, a survivor of one of the Nazi death camps...an old man said, more or less,"When someone tells you that they are going to kill you, you should believe them."
This statement, this lesson, is something that, I am quite sure, has not been forgotten by the Israelis. The question in my mind is, why are the leaders of Iran so eager to die? To usher in the 12th Imam? Surely they realize that the Israelis will not simply lie down and allow their throats to be cut.
Imadinnajacket said the he would gladly sacrifice 2/3 of Iran to see Israel destroyed. I don't think he realizes the power of todays nuclear devices. If Iran uses a nuclear device to attempt the genocide against Israel that they so openly seek, his entire country will cease to exist. But then, what does Mutual Assured Destruction mean to a bunch of religious fanatics? Just a prophecy come true. Too bad they won't be around to enjoy the fruits of their labor.

No matter how despicable the Nazis were, at least they were men enough, to not hide their faces during genocidal killing sprees. Today's Islamic Jihadists prove their cowardice by hiding behind ski-masks or similar face concealment.

Hey Alaskan,

That quote is from Elie Wiesel I believe, correct me if I'm wrong. He definitely knew what he was he was talking about.

If only the UN didn't hold Israel and the US back when fighting these terrorist maniacs. If Israel had her way years ago, Hezbollah wouldn't be the problem it is today. It's so hypocritical that when the Jews defend themselves, the world generally urges them not to. This sends the message that they should just lie down and cop the beating as Jews always have.

Well, not anymore. Iran needs to be disciplined for wanting to destroy another country.

The problem is not that all this is true. Or that it's un-noticed either.

The problem is not that the world does not recognize the kind of apocalyptic beetles running the show in Iran.

The problem is that somewhere, inside, most of those hearing and seeing wish that 'shitty little country' would just somehow end itself and make this all go away. They don't want the jews visibly dead, understand (after all, we already had that one), contaminating their conscious domain on the way to pick up ham and pineapple pizza, or on the way home from IKEA, they just want them gone.

A caption beneath a picture...like the passenger pigeon.

The other choice, to become those who commit to take action, be responsible for VOTING FOR IT, make mistakes, and resolve actual problems in the actual world, with real consequences, well, that's a problem those who want the passenger pigeon captions to be the resolution just can't seem to manage.

"General Yahya Rahim Safavi, in the latest of a spate of anti-Israel verbal attacks by Iran, said the murder of Imad Mughnieh in a Damascus car bombing last week had enraged thousands of young members of Hezbollah."

They're already "enraged" -- it's the Religion of Perpetual Outrage. So what else is new?

I've come to the conclusion, after lots and lots of thought, that it is a very good thing that the nation of Israel exists, and that it is located where it is. For WAY TOO LONG (13 centuries), Muslims have been occupying countries and forcing the native inhabitants to either convert, die, or be the slaves of the Muslims. And the Jews were included in the groups of people who were forced into servitude or death, if they wouldn't convert.

IT'S ABOUT TIME that some of those in servitude finally got their land back, and are finally calling the shots!

Jewish Israel is only a sliver of land compared to the total amount taken from others by Muslims. But at least it is something. WE SHOULD CELEBRATE THIS!

(Spain is another example of someone who retook their own land from the Muslims.)

You hardly ever hear this, but it was STUPID Jimmy "the Dhimmi" Carter who caused all of this mess.

The Shah of Iran was our STRONG ALLY, and he was also a friend of Israel.

But then, thanks to Jimmy the Dhimmi, we have a HUGE problem on our hands.

Thanks, Jimmy the Dhimmi! You sure were a great President!

PersonOfTheBook - you are being way too kind to Carter. I would say that he was dangerous then, and that he's dangerous now. Jimmy the Dangerous-Dhimmi is more like it!

How many times have I heard the tsk' tsk'ing of people wondering why we did not know Hitler was going to murder Jews in an attempt at genocide after reading Mien Kampf? Will we be saying the same thing 40 years from now about the islamo-fascists? Maybe there will not be a world left to wonder about the past?

Oh Israel you stand alone among your enemies. You do nothing but protect yourself from the pressures around you yet the world blames you. When you are attacked all that is good is attacked. May God keep you from your enemies and your enemy's enablers.
