Kenyan elders demand U.S. government apology for circulation of photo of Obama in Somali garb

Ready for Obama Photo Rage?

"Kenyan elders want U.S. apology over Obama photo," by Noor Ali for Reuters (thanks to Hot Air):

ISIOLO, Kenya (Reuters) - Kenyan elders demanded an apology from Washington on Thursday ahead of a planned protest over a controversial photo of U.S. presidential hopeful Barack Obama in traditional Somali dress.

[...]

The dispute has angered many in Kenya, especially ethnic Somalis from the northeast, who resent the implication that Obama did anything wrong during his visit.

Wajir residents plan to demonstrate after Friday prayers to show their support for the Illinois senator.

Mohamed Ibrahim, who attended one of two crisis meetings held in Wajir on Thursday by clan members who hosted Obama on his trip, said Washington must immediately make amends to them and especially to the elder pictured with him.

"The U.S. government must apologise to us as a clan and the old man," Ibrahim told Reuters by telephone. "We have been offended and we cannot afford to just watch and stay silent."

He said it was essential Clinton "clear her name" too.

The old man in question was retired chief Sheikh Mohamed Hassan, a senior elder who deserved great respect, local residents said.

"He was the right person to perform any such activity like dressing a visitor like Obama with traditional Somali clothes," said another Wajir community leader, Mukhtar Sheikh Nur.

"We give special treatment and respect to any visitor."

If there was no apology, the elders said, they would demand the expulsion of U.S. troops based near Garissa town....

I would say - kiss off people. This is our election, our debates, our whatever and as for Somalia - they can kiss my big fat... well, you know. I am sick of muslims thinking that they can tell other nations what to do while they continue on their rampages and slaughtering and torturing of others. The utter arrogance of these turd worlds.

Muslims get offended by me just breathing so this is the gist of it all. And how come if Obama is not a muslim then why are they so concerned for him? Are they hoping a muslim gets into office?! Because this is too weird that Obama hasn't had a fatwa issued to get him like all other apostates.

"We have been offended and we cannot afford to just watch and stay silent."

I'm tempted to say:

"Somalia, what exactly, is your malfunction?"

But, since we hear everyday about how we have to apologize for this or that offence, I think a simple

"BITE ME"

will do.

Demanding another apology? Add it to the list....

The dispute has angered many in Kenya, especially ethnic Somalis from the northeast, who resent the implication that Obama did anything wrong during his visit.

So the muslims want to start another frothing, demand-filled rage. Over what?

Implication that Obama did something wrong.

Wow, that sure is a great reason to go into a rage.

Can you spell jizya? (Not sure that I can.)
You would think with all of the things that are wrong in Kenya, not to mention Somalia, this would not be a major problem. They probably believe that Uncle Stupid will send them a 50 lb. box of crisp $100 bills. I estimate their chance of success in mau-mauing the kuffir at about 70%.

As soon as our elected-to-temporary-power "elites who work for the people" are finished making the USA safe from steroid-using multi-millionaire pro-fessional baseball players - they will doubtless make the apology per demand of islamosupremacists (i.e. to anyone but their own).

Posted by: TINBH [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 28, 2008 5:17 PM

Well, I'm offended that they would take offence and try to butt in on the election.

AND.....I'm offended because THEY don't seem to be offended by suicide bombers, Taliban silly laws and the suppression of women.

SO THERE!!!

Posted by: gymgal [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 28, 2008 5:21 PM

If people are killed in these planned "spontaneous riots", what will the political and moral implications be for those depicted in the photo, and those who released it?

First we kufirs were not allowed to display images of Mohammad that Muslims themselves made in centuries past. Now we're not even allowed to see photographic images of current events?

Posted by: special_guest [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 28, 2008 5:22 PM

Sure hope Washington doesn't rate an article in DhimmiWatch.

Regardless, they won't have my apology. Shouldn't we be discussing on of our presidential candidates leanings?

It looks like Obama may have unintentionally got his tail caught in a crack here.

It's going to be difficult for him to finesse a response to this. Of course, the only responsible response he could make would be for him to distance himself from these outrageous Muslim "demands."

Question is, will he?

BTW, it was interesting to learn from this article that US troops are stationed at Garissa. (I visited there a long time ago to watch a total solar eclipse, and although it's a fairly good sized town, it's a pretty desolate and bleak place.) Does anyone know anything about the US mission there?

Posted by: Eastview [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 28, 2008 5:49 PM

Well, I'm confident that our freedom-loving senator will inform them that our society does not control or police the opinions and expressions of its people and to expect no apology forthcoming.

And if the U.S. government does not apologize? What then? Riots in Kenya?

As to the "Kenyan elders," especially the Somalis of the North--we still remember Mogadishu, Blackhawk down, our Special Forces soldiers "disrepected" ("dissed") to put it mildly--and Clinton pulling out, giving another "victory" to the Islamics.

Bush will probably not apologize. But if left to his Administration--and any to come--that is shot through with Islamics and borderline American traitors, from Defense through State, there could be an an apology forthcoming.

By the way, have you-all see the photo of a photo held by a "Kenyan Elder" of three in Kenyan garb--I do not know whether Moslem or not--and the one on the left is none other than our own Obama!

If you have not seen it, I will post it somewhere and advertise it here. Let me know (or not).

Obama is not a Muslim. He is a Christian. He could use his personal knowledge of Islam (from growing up in Indonesia, with a Muslim stepfather) to his advantage. He could be the first top-tier political candidate to forthrightly discuss mainstream Islamic beliefs, and their incompatibility with a free society.

But will he? Could he take a strong stand against the religion of his own stepfather? Could he do that?

I want to believe he could. I want to believe that all three remaining Presidential candidates will overcome their personal reasons to avoid discussing Islam.

Posted by: special_guest [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 28, 2008 6:11 PM

You can be sure that Mohamed Ibrahim and other tribal leaders, along with Obama's Kenyan Grandmother and other relatives, will be honored guests in the White House.

Posted by: rational [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 28, 2008 6:19 PM

I believe that they (the Somalis) are really upset about the whole world mocking those silly clothes. I mean, I would withdraw from the presidential race in shame if there was a picture of me in that so-five-centuries-ago outfit.

Posted by: tanstaafl [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 28, 2008 6:28 PM

It is suspect that the photo came from the Clinton Camp.

It is also suspect that this demand for an apology and threat of removing U.S. troops came from the Obama Camp.

The government didn't release the photo, so they can't apologize.

It seems to be really hard for some people to understand that the government in Denmark, for example, doesn't control what cartoons are published in Danish papers and that the American government doesn't control what Clinton's stooges do.

Do you have any references? His father was ethnic Luo, who are mostly Christian.

Again, Barak Obama is a Christian not a Muslim. But knowing the religious heritage of a Presidential candidate should not be verboten. JFK had to answer questions about his beliefs as a Catholic. He did, and was elected President.

Each of the three (soon to be two?) remaining Presidential candidates must be scrutinized on the topics of Islam, Israel, and jihad.

So, Obama's been visiting Kenya over the past 20 years? The picture with him posing with his half-brothers and their four separate mothers really got to me. How does he reconcile in his own mind the Islamic polygamy of his African family with the laws and ideals of the majority of Americans he wants to lead?

Obama needs to level with the country about just how deep his loyalties are to the culture and religion of his ancestral home. In a country of immigrants and their descendants such as we are, it is not unreasonable to demand that our leaders' loyalties lie with us rather than with whatever ancestral culture they may have derived from.

None of us gets to choose the time, place, country, culture or family we're born into, and in this Obama is no different than anyone else. But we do get to decide just how closely we want to cling to that culture and its values when we are adults.

So, what about it Barack? Talk to us intelligently about these issues that have so many of us concerned.

One thing is for sure: Barack Hussein Obama has NEVER "denounced and rejected" his first cousin Raila Odinga, who signed the Memorandum of Understanding which would have sold Kenya out to the Muslims in return for Muslim electoral support. Here it is:

As with Obama, Raila Odinga says he is Christian. Maybe he is, and maybe they both are, but Odinga is clearly an accomodationist to Islamist expansionism.

Another thing I would like to hear Obama explain is his church's mission and how much he ascribes to it. That it celebrates its African roots doesn't bother me so much but THIS does:

The fortunate who are among us combine forces with the less fortunate to become agents of change for God who is not pleased with America’s economic mal-distribution!

GOD is displeased with America? How does this translate into policy in an Obama administration?

So, now we have photo riots. Has anyone considered what problems could present themselves if we have a president named Barak Hussein Obama in the White House? He has close muslim kin in Africa (perhaps some are Christian, but the danger is just the same if not more likely) who could be kidnapped by terrorists and demands made for their release. I can't see Secret Service pr0tection for them on the African continent, and I can't stand the thought of bringing more muslims to our country no matter who their kin might be. I may have missed someone bringing this up, but I have never read nor heard anyone bring up that possibility. They are certainly not adverse to cutting off the heads of their co-religionists if it furthers their cause.

Posted by: nyone [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 28, 2008 10:06 PM

PMK,

That MUST be a typo in Obama's Church's Mission Statement! This is America, after all.

I'll assume that the statement should read:

The fortunate who are among us combine forces with the less fortunate to become agents of change for God who is not pleased with America’s economic mall distribution!"

In other words, America needs more Wal-Marts, and fortunate people to provide the means whereby the less fortunate can go shopping, for as it is written, the more you spend, the more you save.

Obama's fortunate Church members, as "agents of change," will lead the way by giving all of their pocket change to any unfortunates they meet, along with this sobering word of counsel, "This change is for God, so spend it wisely. You'll have to answer for it. You do want to pleaee God, don't you?"

Whatever Obama is, he seems to be a Pelosi-style Dem with regard to national security; and as we all know, you don't have to be a Muslim to be a pro-Muslim:

From the "Wolf Howling" blog, Feb 13 2008:

A major piece of anti-terror legislation was passed by the Senate with large bi-partisan support. One of the people voting against it was Barack Obama.

There is legislation before Congress to correct provisions in FISA, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. FISA, a law originally passed in 1978 in the era before modern communications, today produces the anomaly of requiring warrants for our intelligence personnel to spy on communications between two foreign parties, both on foreign soil. This anamoly was corrected with passage of the Protect America Act, but that had a sunset provision which ran out some time ago. The legislation before Congress would make permanent this correction to FISA and it includes a grant of immunity to those private companies that assissted in intelligence collection in the wake of 9-11 and at the request of the government.

On this latter issue, our nation's spy Chief, Mike McConnell, wrote in December:

The intelligence community cannot go it alone. Those in the private sector who stand by us in times of national security emergencies deserve thanks, not lawsuits. I share the view of the Senate Intelligence Committee, which, after a year of study, concluded that “without retroactive immunity, the private sector might be unwilling to cooperate with lawful government requests in the future,” . . .

There is bi-partisan support in the Senate for the Protect America Act, including in it the grant of retroactive immunity. The bill, which has been under consideration for months, passed the Senate yesterday, with 17 Democrats joining with Republicans in a 68-29 vote. The Senate also voted down an amendment submitted by Senator Dodd and supported by Obama that would have stripped the immunity provision.

The WSJ comments in an Op-Ed today:

Now and then sanity prevails, even in Washington. So it did yesterday as the Senate passed a warrantless wiretap bill for overseas terrorists while killing most of the Lilliputian attempts to tie down our war fighters.

"We lost every single battle we had on this bill," conceded Chris Dodd, which ought to tell the Connecticut Senator something about the logic of what he was proposing. His own amendment -- to deny immunity from lawsuits to telecom companies that cooperated with the government after 9/11 -- didn't even get a third of the Senate. It lost 67-31, though notably among the 31 was possible Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama. (Hillary Clinton was absent, while John McCain voted in favor.)

It says something about his national security world view, or his callowness, that Mr. Obama would vote to punish private companies that even the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee said had "acted in good faith." Had Senator Obama prevailed, a President Obama might well have been told "no way" when he asked private Americans to help his Administration fight terrorists. Mr. Obama also voted against the overall bill, putting him in MoveOn.org territory.

Even if one were to accept the premise of these protesters, why would the US government be the entity expected to deliver the apology, when it was the Clinton campaign who released the photo?

They should demand the apology from Clinton, and let her face off against those Somalis, picking up from her husband's 1993 Mogadishu disaster. Or else, since McCain is good at apologizing for things he didn't do (like Bill Cunningham's comments), maybe he could apologize for the US (before the elections, obviously) and satisfy the protesters.

P.S. Incidentally, why are there any US troops in that area? Time to pull them all back to the US, or redeploy them on the borders of dar ul Islam

No, no, no.

Any person that runs in an election has the past brought up. That is the way it is.

Shouldn't they be proud of the photo anyway? Like he should be proud of his middle name? They are proud of everything else islamic.

The US doesn't need the THOUGHT police from another country telling it to apologize because people might THINK something about a photo.

TexasInfidel- I posted on those issues Feb 25 when his photo first showed up.

[-]

Obama would be the first US president to not spend his entire life residing inside the US.

The first with a parent and siblings not living in the US. How will he deal with the immigration issue?

He would be the first president to not spend his formative years and early schooling in the US. How will he deal with the islamic textbooks in US schools?

He would be the first from a polygomous family. How will he deal with this issue?

He would be the first with muslim siblings and parents. How will he deal with the islamic threat? Will he even see islam as a threat when he has immediate, not distant, muslim relatives? Will they talk to him and influence his decisions? Will he decide that terrorists are just criminals? Ease up on security? How does he feel about the NOI?

He would be the first president with an Afro-centric ancestry instead of European. Will he try to spend billions to 'save' Africa? Or at least Kenya? Will he intervene in African countries where the US has no economic or strategic interest? Will he show any loyalty to European allies?

How does he feel about reparations? Even though he has no ancestors that were slaves would he endorse this? Or authorize it?

Will he defend always, a country that he hasn't always been proud of growing up? That his mother didn't seem proud of either. That his father didn't seem to like? And his wife, "MO", hasn't always been proud of? Even when he was made a senator?

Will his 'Afro-centric' church ever be looked into?

What kind of cabinet choices would he make when he has already listed Brezinski, Dhimmi Carter's man, as one choice.

This blogger doesn't like Obama but his facts seem accurate.
http://www.freedomsenemies.com/_more/obama.htm

Will reporters question any of the things he wrote in his first book?

He will be the first president to admit to cocaine usage. Will he fight against drugs?

Will reporters answer any of these questions? Normally, they would be ripping apart the candidates but instead they are tip toeing around.

How about after the election? Will they be afraid to question anything he does? Afraid to be called racist? Will they swoon when he starts talking like a preacher? Or listen to the words? And ask questions?

Will he abandon Israel?

Posted by: Borg [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 29, 2008 9:09 AM

Of course Obama will come up with a well spoken way around the situation. He is an excellent orator. Just look at how Obama denounced Farrakhan's endorsement: he skillfully did not denounce Farrakhan's endorsement, he only denounced his anti-semantic comments.

This Somali elder thing fits with part of the mission statement from Obama's church. The part which states: "...and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent..."

hmmm...Obam refuses to wear an American flag on his lapel, refuses to put his hand over his heart during the national anthem, and belongs to a church which swears it's allegiance to Africa. Kind of makes one wonder....doesn't it?

They want an apology?

Fine.

On behalf of the American people, I apologize for Barack Obama dressing up like a giant cotton swab. Nobody should dress like a Q-Tip, whether they be Democrat or Republican. It's just gross. So you're probably right on that one.

I'm also sorry that the Kenyan elder pictured in the photo appears to be quite happy, instructing Obama in the proper usage of the stick in his right hand. If Islam has taught us anything, it is that happiness should be quashed whenever it rears its ugly head. Good call on that one!

And I'm sorry that many Kenyans have to wear 20 year old cast-off clothing from Americans, and only get shoes if they're lucky. I'm sorry that they live in poverty, only making an average of $1,200 a year. And I'm sorry that they have to go without food, education and decent medical care because of the decisions made by their government leaders and 'elders' like yourselves.

Happy now?

Alert-

Obama said he opposed NAFTA from the start

He opposed NAFTA? I did, too, does that count?

He wasn't even in Congress when it was passed into law. He sure didn't vote on it one way or the other.

He also didn't both to vote on the Iraq war, though now he says he opposed it. He might have opposed it but he didn't vote to stop it. He didn't put his vote where his mouth was.

Obama said he opposed NAFTA from the start

Borg, Obama will say whatever he has to to get votes. After all that is what Clinton and Bush did so why not Obama? Besides Americans have already rejected patriot Tom Tancredo. Ofcourse America wants another lying, cheating sell-out. Well, America do not fear, (Mo)Barak Hussein (I'm-not-a-muslim/drivers-licences-for-illegals) Obama is here.....

Slightly Off Topic, re: Trinity United Church of Christ, of which Sen. Obama is a member.

Trinity United Church of Christ adopted the Black Value System, written by the Manford Byrd Recognition Committee, in 1981. The BVS consists of 12 black empowering concepts. Of special note is concept 8.

[8. Disavowal of the Pursuit of “Middleclassness.” Classic methodology on control of captives teaches that captors must be able to identify the “talented tenth” of those subjugated, especially those who show promise of providing the kind of leadership that might threaten the captor’s control.

Those so identified are separated from the rest of the people by:

1. Killing them off directly, and/or fostering a social system that encourages them to kill off one another.
2. Placing them in concentration camps, and/or structuring an economic environment that induces captive youth to fill the jails and prisons.
3. Seducing them into a socioeconomic class system which, while training them to earn more dollars, hypnotizes them into believing they are better than others and teaches them to think in terms of “we” and “they” instead of “us.”
4. So, while it is permissible to chase “middleclassness” with all our might, we must avoid the third separation method – the psychological entrapment of Black “middleclassness.” If we avoid this snare, we will also diminish our “voluntary” contributions to methods A and B. And more importantly, Black people no longer will be deprived of their birthright: the leadership, resourcefulness and example of their own talented persons.]

This brings to mind a passage from the Epistle to the Hebrews, something about roots of bitterness springing up and defiling many...

Has the Clinton camp dared to ask the good Senator about the Black Value System and how he might like to mold it into an economic policy for the nation's beseiged middleclass WHITES?
