Now here's a level of marital bliss I haven't seen since Jack Nicholson in The Shining.
"U.S. military says it arrests man training women, including wife, to become suicide bombers," from The Associated Press (thanks to Jeffrey Imm):
BAGHDAD: The U.S. military announced the capture Saturday of an insurgent leader who was recruiting and training women, including his wife, to wrap themselves in explosives and blow themselves up — the latest sign that al-Qaida in Iraq plans to keep using women to carry out deadly suicide attacks. [...]In the case of the suicide vests, the military said the man was arrested Thursday in an operation near the town of Khan Bani Sad, north of Baghdad in Diyala province — still an al-Qaida hotbed.
"The ringleader was a man trying to recruit women to carry out SVEST (suicide vest) bombings. The cell leader used his wife and another woman, to act as carriers of his next SVEST attack," the military said in a statement.

I think you might be mixing up scripture. I am not up to speed on all the the verses but based upon what most of the Koran says on the subject I would be surprised that protecting the wife is part of the teachings. It is in the Bible of course.
Whether it is or is not this (think of the most foul thing you can) _____ was never taught such things. I just hope the don't waste time and money and food on him and let allah deal with him quickly. He clearly is not worth it.

LOL... You could be right, Im.mad.as.HELL!. It wouldn't be the first time I was muddled. A quick internet search suggests I was!
The Qur'an does have a passage about a woman being the cloak for her husband, and vice versa, during fasting. The point of this passage, though, had to do with the legality of having sex while fasting. I didn't find anything broader. Maybe someone with more knowledge than I could point to a verse.

In sum, the author says: "Wives on earth are still wives in Paradise with an exception that their impurity is gone." (Sura 2:25)
A woman's "impurity", being her menstrual period, of course. There's more to the article--an interesting read, but no more reward offered to a woman in Allah's Paradise.
It all makes me wonder why any woman, having known another religion, or no religion at all, would ever select Islam. I can't see any advantage to being a Muslim woman, unless one has an insatiable appetite for masochism and misogyny.

I'm amazed there aren't MORE female suicide bombers. The martyr believes they are guaranteeing their admission into "Paradise" and Islamic scripture makes it clear that women need this guarantee more than men because Muhammad told his followers that he had a glimpse into Hell and it was populated mostly by women.
The female "martyrs" are probably either infertile or post-menopause because the Ummah would disapprove of the elimination of a veritable breeder.

Also, she's "still [a wife] in Paradise". But hubby isn't much of a husband anymore -- he's busying stallioning away with all those virgins. What happens to her if she decides to dally with one of the "boys like pearls"? Hubby can hardly kill her for dishonoring him, she's already dead.

Magooey, and the rest of you pondering this, you seem to have left out a critical Islamic tenet – namely that a woman is worth half as much as a man.
Seen in this light, Magooey, that would be only 36 credit cards. Also, she should expect to have only half of her sins forgiven by Allah (which is logical because every one knows women sin twice as much as men anyway) so there is a perfect balance of nature here – who said Islam was illogical?
This raises the question:
Does a woman get half way to paradise by this act, or does she wind up in a paradise that is half as nice?

Right. Most of the younger ones are damaged goods in one way or another. They have few marriage prospects and there is no life in Islam for a woman who is not a breeder. Everyone wins in this situation. The woman goes out a hero and her family is rid of her. They also get the plaudits that go with having a martyr in the family.

On a slightly more serious note, I always marvel at how little that vision of paradise has to do with the deity one has supposedly been serving. Dark eyed maidens, young male servants, rivers of wine, and... somewhere down the list, maybe said deity sends a form letter of thanks?
It reminds me of a Dilbert cartoon from a few years ago, where the reward for 10 years of service was lunch with the vice-president of the company, and the reward for 20 years of service was lunch without the vice-president.

Relate the banishment of the Jew Qaynuqa tribe and the taking of their lands and houses.
The assassination of the Jew leader Ka’b bin Al-Ashraf for writing verses against the Prophet. And the divine permission to use deception to accomplish this killing.
At Muhammad’s command, the killing of the old man Abu ‘Afak and Marwan’s daughter, a young mother of five whose only crime was to speak out.
The banishment of the Jew Nadir tribe and the taking of their lands and houses.
The killing of all the men and young boys of the Jew Qurayzah tribe, some 800 souls. How Muhammad took the beautiful Rayhana, whose male relatives had just been slaughtered, to be his concubine.
Muhammad’s command to torture the Jew, Kinana b. al Rabi, so he would reveal the location of his tribe’s treasure and how “The Model of Conduct” took his wife Safiyya and ravished her that very night.
How, at Muhammad’s command, the hands and feet of the Uraina tribe were cut off, their eyes burned out and how they were left to die in agony in the desert
Mention Muhammad’s explicit permission given to his men to rape married women that they had captured.
