Dutch raise terror alert in advance of film criticizing Bible-- no, wait...

No, it's because of Wilders' forthcoming Qur'an film, Fitna. Now, why would they feel the need to do that? "Dutch raise terror alert over anti-Islam film," by Stephanie Van Den Berg for Agence France-Presse:

THE HAGUE (AFP) - The international uproar about the planned release of an anti-Islam film by a Dutch far-right MP prompted the Netherlands to raise its terrorism alert level on Thursday.
"While there are no concrete indications of impending attacks in the Netherlands, the increased international terrorism threat has prompted to raise the threat level for the Netherlands from 'limited' to 'substantial'," the justice ministry said.
One of the main reasons for the raising of the alert level is the plan by far right deputy Geert Wilders to air his short movie -- which he says attacks the Koran as a "fascist book" -- in March.
"Compounding the threat is the fact that the Netherlands has been cast in a negative light in the Islamic world due to the tone of the debate on Islam in this country, especially since the announcement of a controversial film on the Koran," the ministry explained.
The international media attention for Wilders movie "has led to the posting of death threats against the Freedom Party leader on one of the leading international jihadist web forums", according to the national anti-terrorism coordinator NCTb.
The Wilders film has caused uproar in Muslim countries, some of whom have called for an economic boycott of the Netherlands if the film is shown. Iran, Egypt and Pakistan all voiced criticism about the film.
In Afghanistan hundreds of protesters took to the streets Wednesday to protest the film, whilst the Taliban has already vowed revenge against the 1,600 Dutch soldiers stationed in the country if the movie is shown.

The international uproar about the planned release of an anti-Islam film by a Dutch far-right MP...

That's got to be the highest distortion-to-fact ratio I've seen in a long time. Keep up the good work, AFP.

Appeasing bullies never works; It only emboldens them.

The sooner all of this comes to a head the better!

Europe is still plenty strong enough to defeat Islamic aggression and intimidation *IF* the will to do so it there. 20, 30, 50 years down the road, however, may well be too late.

Just as with Hitler in the 1930s; The longer the conflict was denied and delayed, the more terrible the price Europe and humanity paid.

I take it they're going to boycott any further Dutch jizyah payments as well..

Why can't the press ever print the name, Geert Wilders, in a sentence without also printing, "far right"?

Why can't the press describe the film, "Fitna" as an examination of the Qur'an, not an attack on the Qur'an?

the only "moderate" Moslem is either an ex-Moslem or one that has been "moderated."

Wait - you couldn't possibly be talking about the faithful members of the "religion of peace" who are leveling threats of violence. There must be some kind of a misunderstanding here. Muslims are peace loving people.

I think that Wilders might decide to release this movie exclusively on the Net, because the managers of Dutch TV stations & theatres might decide the potential hassle isn't worth the price of free speech. This appeasement appears to be a general trend in Europe when the 'offended' are Muslims.

If it is released, the movie will probably come across as quite tame (to modern humans, anyway). The Dutch cartoon nonsense was weird partly because the cartoons were so lame and soft-core.

I wonder if wilder's film, if it doesnt offend enough muslims, will be re-edited by Dutch imams to achieve the violent reaction they are looking for...

just as the Danish cartoons were added to when they didnt cause enough of a stir.

Memri has a great clip of moslems celebrating allah making a fire on the Danish flag.

http://www.memritv.org/clip/en/1702.htm

It is quite informative about islam to see and hear allah's practicing demagogues and crowds rage things like:

"...we call upon the Islamic nation to rise up, [and] drive out the Danish embassies and ambassadors from the lands of the Muslims, and to expel them...take serious and immediate action to burn down the offices of the newspapers that affronted our Prophet, and to bomb them, so that body parts go flying, and with these body parts, Allah will quench the believers' thirst for revenge."

"We call upon Muslims all over the world to bomb the embassies, to kidnap Danish ambassadors, and to kill them on the threshold of the tomb of the Prophet."

"This is not about Palestine. You may have sold out the Al-Aqsa Mosque, but will you sell out the Prophet Muhammad too? If you're selling – we're buying. We will sell our souls cheaply to redeem even his honorable shoe, and to redeem the shoe of any Muslim on the face of this Earth."

islam is the source of much of the world's contemporary misfortune.

we call upon the all European nations to rise up, [and] drive out the Muslim embassies and ambassadors from the lands of the Christian and to expel them...take serious and immediate action to burn down the offices of the newspapers that affronted our beliefs, and to bomb them, so that body parts go flying, and with these body parts, the true Europeans will quench the believers' thirst for revenge."

"We call upon all people oppressed by Muslims all over the world to bomb the embassies, to kidnap their ambassadors, and to kill them on the threshold of their respective parliaments"

I wonder what would happen if one of our dignitaries said this.

Pardon me, Stupid Question.

Geert Wilders is brilliant. When has there ever been such an eagerly anticipated (or dreaded, depending on your view point) film release? For a clip (can't really call it a film) that's reported to be only 15 minutes long, the pre-release publicity he has received has been astounding.

Whether it gets any theater play or not doesn't really matter. Going up on YouTube would work just as well, better, in fact, since distribution is instantaneous and global. Let's just hope YouTube has the spine not to cave in to the inevitable demands by ROPers to have it suppressed.

Anyone want to speculate about whether they will or not?

Criticizers of Islam beware. The one thing Islam can't take is criticism. Why is that? Well, Mr/Mrs insolence, how can you dare to assume that you, you lowly infidel, can criticize what Allah has made perfect, and put the 'best of people' in charge of?
Only a fool or a filthy kufr would dare try. Can't you see the error of your ways?
Anything less than complete capitulation and subservience is unacceptable, and will be met with the appropriate Allaholic punishments.
But first we riot. Then we kill a few people for emphasis, then we put out numerous fatwa's against the offender in this case Wilders. Why? Because Allah says so, that's why. Criticism gets in the way of spreading perfection. All criticism of Islam comes from dar al-harb, and must be eliminated, until only Allah's perfection dominates.
Now that's not too much to ask...is it?

Geert Wilders makes "far right" something to aspire to.

I agree. Let the Barbarians do their thing instead of continuing to try and stop them. Let them look like the Barbarians and Murderers that they are.

But where will the battle take place? Most likely it will be in a Western country that was foolish enough to trust Muslims and offer them a home and opportunity. No good deed goes unpunished.

Just so any new or misguided reader stumbles across this article. I thought I would edit it to make it more unbiased.

The italicized words are the corrections. They will follow the misused word/s or add clarity to the thought.

THE HAGUE (AFP) - The international Islamic uproar about the planned release of an anti-Islam informational film by a Dutch far-right concerned MP prompted the Netherlands to raise its terrorism alert level on Thursday. "While there are no concrete indications of impending attacks in the Netherlands, the increased international Islamic terrorism threat has prompted to raise the threat level for the Netherlands from 'limited' to 'substantial'," the justice ministry said. One of the main reasons for the raising of the alert level is the plan by far right duly elected and concerned deputy Geert Wilders to air his short movie -- which he says attacks shows the Koran as a "fascist book" -- in March. "Compounding the threat is the fact that the Netherlands has been cast in a negative propagandized light in the Islamic world due to the tone truth of the debate on Islam in this country, especially since the announcement of a controversial informative film on the Koran," the ministry explained. The international media attention for Wilders movie "has led to the posting of death threats against the Freedom Party leader on one of the leading international Islamic jihadist web forums", according to the national anti-terrorism coordinator NCTb. The Wilders film has caused uproar in Muslim countries, some of whom have called for an economic boycott of the Netherlands if the film is shown. Iran, Egypt and Pakistan all voiced unproven criticism about the film. In Afghanistan hundreds of Islamic protesters took to the streets Wednesday to protest the film, whilst the Taliban ,a Sharia based tyrannical form of Islamic government, has already vowed revenge against the 1,600 Dutch soldiers stationed in the country if the movie is shown. It once ruthlessly tortured and killed its citizens before being driven out. All of these demonstrations were sanctioned by Islamist world wide to keep the truth from being told and to suppress free speech. What is Islam afraid of? What does it need to hide?

There I hope I have helped to enlighten everyone. One mans sows ear is another's silk purse.

There are many muslims and ex-muslims involved in challenging the Qur'anic interpretations and Islamic teachings that instigate violent jihad, but not enough of them, and the mainstream media fails to bring the challenge forward.Films like this are needed in order to force this battle into the public spotlight, where the strong can win.Freedom and equality of all must be the foundation of all relations between the Western world and Islam, or no deal.If we can't force the mainstream Islamists to stand up for modern relations, this will be a very long war indeed.Hats off to Wilders and I hope the Dutch leaders and citizens back him up in his exercise of free speech.
