Maybe there is nothing to this. Maybe it's just a ghastly coincidence. Or...someone could be offing anti-FGM crusaders in Europe. I am not saying that that is happening. But these are difficult times, and the possibility cannot be ruled out.
"Former Model Waris Dirie Reported Missing," by Paul Ames for AP (thanks to Writer Mom):
BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) - Waris Dirie, a former model who has campaigned against female genital mutilation and written an international best-seller about her experiences, is missing, her manager said Friday.Dirie, 43, has not been seen since early Wednesday when police saw her getting into a taxi in Brussels after a mix-up over a hotel room, manager Walter Lutschinger said in a telephone interview.
"We are really very scared," said Lutschinger, who has been her manager for seven years.
Dirie — who was born in Somalia and now lives in Vienna, Austria — gained international fame as a model posing in Chanel ads and acting in a James Bond film before launching her campaign against female genital mutilation in 1996.
She recounted her own experiences of suffering genital mutilation as a child in the book Desert Flower, which became an international best-seller.
Dirie was due to speak to two conferences on women's rights organized by the European Union in Brussels this week, including one Thursday attended by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Dirie's disappearance comes a week after French police said they'd found the body of another former model of African origin who had campaigned against female genital mutilation.
Guinean-born Katoucha Niane's body was found floating in the Seine River in Paris. French police said an autopsy showed no signs of foul play, pointing to the possibility that the 47-year-old Niane may have fallen accidentally into the river....
UPDATE: Dirie found, questions remain.

Islam: mutilating more than genitals.
(The neo-cortex, to be medically exact. Mohammad was the first lobotomist.)

Maybe she was mistaken for Ayaan Hirsi Ali. She does resemble her a lot.

Ex-Model Waris Dirie Found in Brussels
BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) — Authorities say Waris Dirie, the Somali-born model who launched a worldwide campaign against female genital mutilation, has been found.
A spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office says Dirie was located on Friday in central Brussels, hours after police announced a nationwide search for her.
The spokeswoman says Dirie is being questioned by police about the disappearance and appears to be in good health.
Dirie had last been seen getting into a cab after a mix-up over a hotel early Wednesday.

A perfectly innocent explanation for her disappearance. Or was she picked up by a Muslim cab-driver, recognized, and held for a while, either by him or by others, and given a little warning, that 1) she had better drop her campaign because it was being used "by the enemies of Islam" and 2) she had better not mention a word of what happened to her after they released her because they knew how to get to her, and this was her final warning.
Let's see how things turn out.

Did the Belgian police read the note covered with Quranic quotations that was attached to her by the knife embedded in her chest? That might have some clues on it.

Yes, but they believe that it was accidentally embedded into her chest.

The desire to kill is so great among some Muslims that they will even threaten people with the same name as their enemies. Just look at the poor sods who have the same name as the Motoon cartoonist.
Perhaps since they can not kill Ayaan Hirsi Ali, they will kill these models to satisfy their desire to please their false blood-lusting god.
As for falling in the river, only children, drunks, suicides, and those who criticize Islam end up in rivers.
Its time to wake up and smell the hookah! Modern history shows that Islam has little regard for human dignity.

If mohammedans had no access to Europe - which their history strongly suggests they should not have - then we would never have to worry about any of this.
We should only take in the *victims* of islam.. the outsiders and those who are apostates of it.
We should give comfort and shelter to those brave souls seeking to escape the unchangeable flustercuck that is the "teachings" of the KKKoran.

I wonder if it's their stand against FGM that might make these models targets of islamic retribution, or just that they are models. After all, to become models, they not only had to cast off their burkas, they also had to flaunt their God-given good feminine looks in public for infidels to admire. can't get much more anti-islamic than that.

Of course it's natural to be suspicious of such 'accidental' deaths whenever a critic or even tangental critic of Islam is suddenly found dead with no explanation.
One account of the first model's death did note however that she lived on a house boat. That does increase the odds of an accidental drowning if she couldn't swim.
Or she could've been thrown into the river by a crazed Muslim too. Hopefully the police are investigating thoroughly.

I did wonder about this, after I had heard that model Katoucha Niane's body had been found. It is possible that she fell into the river--after all, she did live on a houseboat. On the other hand, one reason so many bodies turn up in rivers is that immersion in water does so much to make those signs of foul play difficult or impossible to detect.
I'm so glad that Waris Dirie--for whom I have the greatest respect--turned up safe. There are a lot of questions here, though--someone who had been scheduled to speak to two important high-profile conferences on her big issue, FGM, would not have just dropped out of sight.
