Because after all, what would they do with their time then? Take up needlepoint?
"My wife, she gets mad when I caress my machine gun, but she understands." Now close your eyes and repeat: It's a Religion of Peace!
"Philippine Muslim fighters see uncertain future if peace prevails," from AFP (thanks to Michael):
CAMP DARAPANAN - After a protracted 30-year insurgency which has seen up to 150,000 people killed, Muslim rebels are facing an uncertain future as peace finally looks near in the southern Philippines. With talks due to resume this month between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) many young Muslims in this sprawling rebel camp in Mindanao are trying to come to terms with the prospect of peace.
Government negotiators and the MILF leadership are optimistic the final hurdles to peace can be overcome by granting limited autonomy to the Muslim minority in this predominant Roman Catholic Southeast Asian nation.
For many of the 12,000 MILF rebels, especially the young, peace is likely to bring an uncertain future.
MILF chief Murad Ibrahim, in a rare interview with AFP, said he was worried for their future, especially for those born into war and the many whose parents and older relatives have died as "martyrs". [...]
Moro fighter Abdullah, who uses one name, says he is concerned about the future.
A young man in his early 20s clutching a rusty M-60 machine gun, he is a veteran of many jungle battles and is ready, he says, to die for the cause.
"I have not been to a battle since last year," Abdullah says, perspiration trickling down his brow. He is wearing mismatched fatigues that bears a striking resemblance to those used by Sri Lakan Tamil insurgents.
"I have had many adventures with this gun, I sleep with it and never go anywhere without it," he says. "I cannot part with my weapon."
Abdullah says he is not prepared to lay down his weapon even if a final peace deal is signed.
"It's not in my blood to be a farmer," he said.
[...]
"This has saved me many times," he says. "My wife, she gets mad when I caress my machine gun, but she understands."

What happens is that they implode on themselves. Since it isn't a crime to beat the crud out of their women, torture them and kill them - they will just focus in on their 'family values' a bit more - beating, torturing, stoning and killing their women.
But, wait! Peace is broken all the time with muslims - mohammed said that a peace treaty is only a time to recoup, regroup and rearm. Break that treaty at any time and go for some more land or some other concession.
All we have to do is learn from Israel and the goons around them - there have been how many peace treaties? And who broke them all the time? (hint: it wasn't the Israelis!)

Hmmmmmm, since in their minds peace can only occur when everyone is either islamic or subjugated to them; then I too share this hope.

They're out of a job, aren't they? Well, we'll just have to set up a crash program to get these "economic refugees" relocated to the good, ole' US of A!
They can move into the same neighborhoods as the Somalis we are importing to work in the meat packing industry here in TN. They're just regular moms and dads, but with automatic weapons and light artillery, right?

I'm just glad that the MILF's have someone, even if it's just men who spend their time caressing their machine-gun, watching out for them.

Building a caliphate these days just ain't what it's cracked up to be.
Iraq''s Al-Sadr decides to retire from politics "temporarily"
BAGHDAD, March 7 (KUNA) -- Embattled Iraqi Shi'ite leader Moqtada Al-Sadr said Friday he decided to retire from politics for the time being for several reasons. "On top of the reasons are the growing splits within the Sadrist movement," according to a statement issued by Al-Sadr office here. "The political life is exclusively open for secularists. It turned to be a field of sedition. "So, I will retire from politics temporarily pending the removal of reasons for my retirement," he said. "Large numbers of close aides and followers split from 'the houza' (religious school) for mere worldly reasons to achieve personal gains and reach power," he regretted. Al-Sadr admitted failure in two major issues, namely the liberation of Iraq and turning the country into a purely Muslim society. "The failure could be a result of my shortcomings, the society's or both of us," he acknowledged. "The continued existence of occupation and the split of many followers prompted me to boycott politics in protest. "I have sacrificed a lot of my life for the society till my body grew weak, my health grew poor and my concerns grew grave. "It is time to focus on reading," he made clear. Al-Sadr's statement came in response to questions by his followers on his absence from public for months. (end) aah.gb KUNA 072114 Mar 08NNNNPosted by: yadayada

The Moro rebellion has been going on for a very long time, if I recall correctly. I'm very skeptical that it's going to end soon. I noticed the phrase "limited autonomy". Since when has that ever satisfied the Muslims? In any case, the Philippines are still under Infidel rule. That makes them a target.

Hi Miss Darcy!
I don't know...I never really like it when jihadists use "blood" in a sentence. It bothers me that they have to same reaction as the sports fans around here do when talking about their favorite football team, except, of course, there is never any mention of beer and hot dogs.
Oh-my-gosh, maybe that's their problem!

Abdullah says he is not prepared to lay down his weapon even if a final peace deal is signed.
I wonder how wide spread this sentiment is among jihadists.
If this guy was in the US military he would be (used to be called) section 8.

Interestinconundrum, excellent point. Muslims don't want peace, they want more war, war, war. If they're brought up on war and fed a steady diet of "kill the Jews and the Christians," how you gonna' keep 'em down on the farm after they've seen Par-ey?
Lex,
LOL!! OF course you're right, but what these dumb bunnies don't know is that while men are like a light switch and it takes one flick of the finger to turn them on, women are like an iron...it may take a while for them to heat up but once they do, they stay hot for a long time.

Expect the excuse-makers to draw parallels with the soldiers who found themselves on the battlefield and were unable to adjust to civilian life.
Abdullah says he is not prepared to lay down his weapon even if a final peace deal is signed.
"It's not in my blood to be a farmer," he said.
You never know until you try. Give it a chance Abdullah. You're not telling us you're afraid of finding out, are you? You're not that big a coward, are you?
Then again, there are other career options for someone with your skills. You could become a policeman. You could form your own neighborhood watch program in the Phillipines. You know what? You could even join the ARMY! Never mind. Scratch that last one. It's not Allah's army.

I keep thinking about what Fallaci said at the end of her last book,,words to the effect that islam is a stagnant pond and this cannot survive.
I have to believe that no society that simply believes in hate, death and destruction can flourish.
It goes against everything on this planet, no matter whether you are a believer or not.
Have been reading bits of "The Law of Attraction" by Jerry and Esther Hicks.
What your dominant thought is - is what you will attract. It works for good and bad things.
Maybe they will attract exactly what they are thinking of?
at March 7, 2008 9:10 PM
Hi guys,
Oh dear, I did something to my toolbar and lost you for a while. 'Sorry for the delay.
I'm keeping on, Miss Darcy, just very busy working right now, which is great. How're you?
Lex, I don't know if your post was a little too racy but it was duly noted. You were talking about riding a motorcycle, right? ; )
Gramfan,
I like your comparison of Islam to a stagnant pond. That's exactly what it feels like. My concern is not so much what the Muslims will attract but the fact that we are attracting Muslims and their hatred and their Sharia law. What are we doing as a society and as a people to attract that kind of crap to ourselves? I don't believe for a minute that we have oppressed Muslims and that's why they do what they do. But what have we done as a people to ourselves and our countries that is allowing the rise of this system and mentality that we don't seem to want? Is there something we are doing that attracts this? Are we being punished for it?

Isabella, yes, that's right. The unidentified prude of a moderator decided that three, yes three of my posts on this thread were sufficiently "off-topic, offensive, slanderous, or otherwise annoying" to warrant being summarily deleted, even though Abdullah's own words suggested sexual overtones, and I simply had some fun with it.
Well, it is Robert's site, and he and his can censor jihad related sexual innuendo as much as they please. As for me, I don't need to be here. I'd much rather be "riding a motorcycle."

I can't take credit for the "stagnant pond"
That is Fallaci's alone.
I don't believe we have oppressed muslims either.
I like this link:
http://www.mapsofwar.com/images/EMPIRE17.swf
It puts things into perspective.
Maybe it is not what we are attracting, but what THEY are attracting that is the problem?
Then again I also think we are being dumbed down.
We are overwhelmed with idiotic news and tv shows, the cult of celebrity. Maybe we are attracting some kind of decadence? Look at the obesity in the west. Much is from over-eating, but more to the point we don't move much any more: tv, computers - yes, I am guilty of that too.
We are getting weaker mentally and physically.
One of the things the Law of Attraction states is that we must focus on things that make us happy.
I don't know all the answers: I am still working on it :)

Guns are phallic symbols, stroking his machine gun rather than his wife means what?
Among it's other charming attributes, Islam is a sex and violence cult as evidences by the machine gun symbolism. So what does a stroked machine gun do? It shoots bullets, not to propagate people, but to kill them. What is the difference between this machine gun stroker, and the one who shot up the Jewish seminary? Killing people with a stroked machine gun is rape, and murder, in one of it's most depraved forms. It is a highly sexually symbolic activity.
Not just sex but power as well...The stroked machine gun gives it's worshipper the power of life and death.

When I used to wear a much younger man’s clothes, I was fond of our M-60. But I really preferred our Browning 1919, rechambered for 7.62 mm, (used the same belt and ammo as the M-60). Something about the shape of the receiver, angular and box like and that air-cooled barrel with its shroud of perfectly spaced lightning holes – was a thing of beauty to behold! Mounted on our jeep, she spoke smartly to the foe – what a friend and comfort she was!
But a young man’s fancy is fickle and so it was, that the one who stole my heart was Ma Duce, the Browning M-2 .50 cal. Sooo much noise and POWER and thumb triggers! You could cut down a forest with that thing and I’m not kiddin’! Now THAT was a gun!
Many years later, the fancies of my youth are gone, but to all you Jihadis out there – I HAVE NEVER LAID DOWN MY GUN!

Meanwhile, big media refuses to report the outflow from the NATO protected drug industry in Afghanistan and the Eurotraffic of same, through muslim channels. Now white racists have stepped into the info breach and UK police have chosen to investigate them for propagating observable facts and UN report information. When will our elites come to their senses? When will they admit that their debasement of our liberties has resulted in circumstances where truth is illegal?

For many of the 12,000 MILF rebels, especially the young, peace is likely to bring an uncertain future.
................
I can't help but contrast this with the attitudes of US soldiers at the close of WWII. Most wanted to keep fighting until the job was done--Nazi and Japanese imperialism defeated--but then they could not wait to go home.
At VE and VJ day there were huge celebrations in the streets. Some of these images, like the sailor kissing the army nurse in Times Square, are still famous.
Demobilized soldiers flocked back to civilian life. Many went to college on the GI bill so that they could do better in civilian life. For many, they were the first in their families to go on to higher education. Almost overnight, colleges became more egalitarian.
There were large numbers of marriages to sweethearts who had waited until the war ended. They then started families, resulting in a huge baby boom.
To accomodate all those new kids, there was a boom in building new schools. There was a huge building boom as these new families could now afford homes out in the suburbs. Newly affluent families bought new cars, and build new freeways to accomodate them.
There was a boom of new businesses, as all the pent up energy that had been focused on the war effort could suddenly be applied at home.
Of course, as in any war, there were those who had relished the violence for its own sake--I'm not talking about acts of heroism here--and had a hard time readjusting to civilian life. These were a small number, though, and most people regarded them with pity.
Most returning soldiers thrived in civilian life, and created the biggest boom of prosperity the world has ever seen. We in the West are still enjoying its benefits today.
It should be regarded as a travesty that soldiers in any conflict want to fight on for fighting's sake.

The attitude of US soldiers at the end of a war vs that of these MILF rebels can be summed up in the words of some Muslim terrorist:
Muslims crave death while we crave life.
They've said as much to us in the past.
They think it's their trump card.
Who says this isn't a clash of civilizations?
It isn't, though. It's civilization vs barbarism.
at March 8, 2008 9:45 PM
""MILF Jihadists"... what an image that conjures up. These guys need to get themselves a new acronym - recent linguistic developments have rendered that one ludicrous."
Metamoros, you read my mind on that one.
These Muslim clowns are actually sitting around thinking, "Oi, Suppose they had a Peace and Nobody Came."
It says quite a bit about Muslims that the worst possible future that they can imagine is one of Peace.
