Homeric epithet "restive," endlessly used to characterize the Thai jihad: check. Obfuscation of the jihadist identity of the perpetrators, by identifying them as "separatist militants" involved in a "separatist insurgency": check. Passive voice used for jihadist murders, with no agent identified -- "more than 2,900 people have been killed": check. Treatment of violence as a kind of disease that one day unaccountably "broke out," rather than being attributable to the jihad ideology: check. Mischaracterization of the historical roots of how the Muslim area came to be part of Thailand: check.
Looks like this one scores a 100: it's a perfect mainstream media whitewash!

YALA, Thailand - A Muslim couple was shot dead after separatist militants stormed into their home in Thailand's restive Muslim-majority south, police said Saturday.Militants used assault rifles to gun down the 55-year-old man and his 48-year-old wife late Friday in Yala, one of three provinces roiled by a bloody separatist insurgency, they said.
Police said the man was killed because he provided information to authorities about the shadowy insurgency that has battled the government for more than four years.
More than 2,900 people have been killed since the violence broke out along the southern border with Malaysia in a region once an autonomous Malay sultanate until mainly Buddhist Thailand annexed it a century ago....

This brave man almost certainly provided this information either anonymously or in strict confidence that his identity would not be revealed. So how did the jihadists find out the identity of the informant? I'm sure the islamists have infiltrated the police forces of many a country with their own sleeper agents.

It's the absolute selfishness and cowardice of these acts that never cease to amaze me. These murderers hide amongst their crowd. Then prey on defenseless people. And then hide again using women and children as their shields.

you called this one absolutely correctly, as usual.
i live in thailand, and there is no denying that what is going on in the south is absolutely a jihadist insurgency (although there are other factors that contributed to the current state of afffairs).
i will try to blog more about this at http://homesickamerican.wordpress.com

I note in the title that the victims are a "Muslim couple". There is no mention of the religion of the "sepratists".

The title of this article compelled me to read it as it implies that jihadists are now shooting dead people as well as living people. Murder and the ghastly mutiliation of human bodies seem to provide macabre sexual pleasure for muslims and I would expect the bloodthirsty savages to eviscerate or behead corpses, but I couldn't imagine why they would want to shoot them.
