Tiny Minority of Extremists Update: "Thousands of Egyptian Islamists Protest Government Crackdown," from VOA News (thanks to Twostellas):
Thousands of opposition Muslim Brotherhood members demonstrated in Egypt Sunday to protest a government crackdown on their movement ahead of local elections.Egyptian security officials say about 5,000 protesters gathered outside a local council building in the Nile Delta town of Tanta. The Egyptian Islamist group put the figure at 10,000.
A similar rally in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria drew hundreds of Brotherhood supporters.
The Brotherhood says it is protesting the arrest of hundreds of its members by Egyptian security forces in recent weeks. Many of those arrested were potential candidates in local elections scheduled for April 8.
The opposition group also accused authorities of refusing to accept nomination papers from other Brotherhood activists who want to run in the elections.
The Brotherhood is banned in Egypt as a political party, but its members run for office as independents...

'tiny minority of extremists alert' Yep, about 20% of Egypt's Parliament are "independent" members from the Muslim Brotherhood. Adds up a lot like the feared percentage of "non-moderate" Muslims in the west doncha think?.

NO worries. Muslim brotherhood has Hamas in Israel, CAIR in the USA, and all the other groups working hard to spread the religion of allah among the kafir

The Muslim Brotherhood and the Egyptian government. Are their aims all that far apart, the only difference being that MB wants to run the show? The ultimate defeat of the MB doesn't herald any sort of triumph for Western ideals. The government in Cairo isn't exactly friendly.

Sadly enough, a lot of these MB types gain ingress into the EU because they claim to be "persecuted" at home.. while lesbians and gays who face certain death in iran are set to be deported.

These are bizarre times we live in.. the MB types are flodding right past the checkpoints into fat apartments and receive fat welfare checks as they head to the nearest mosk to do their evil work against us.
Meanwhile the victims of islam are being sent back home to face certain death.
It's called liberalism, folks! It is a mental disorder indeed.
PS. If you won't tell on me.. I have a *very* *very* liberal friend who thinks that since child molesters are insane ["or else why would they do it?"] they should be let out of jail since it is illegal to jail the insane.
Now I've heard a lot of things before but that one was a shocker even considering the source. I didn't know what to say so I ordered a double Scotch while waiting for the topic to change before I might not be able to keep my mouth shut any longer. An argument would not have been useful.
Liberalism is indeed insanity..

One reason that Esposito, the rest of academe and - through them - the mainstream media, are pushing so hard to re-designate the MB and other extremists as "moderates" is precisely because the 'tiny minority of extremists' canard is unraveling in the face of reality. Repeated polls in different countries showing huge pluralities (and sometimes, actual majorities) of Muslims supporting Sharia is the writing on the wall.
Instead of acknowledging that there may indeed be a proclivity towards extremism among Muslims, our cultural gatekeepers have simply raised the bar at what constitutes an extremist. Proponents of lapidation, amputation and the murder of apostates are now considered moderates.
It's a brave new world.

SCMALLAH: "I have a *very* *very* liberal friend who thinks that since child molesters are insane ["or else why would they do it?"] they should be let out of jail since it is illegal to jail the insane."
My very, very liberal sister-in-law once told me in an argument about capital punishment that anyone who would kill is mentally ill and therefore not responsible. When I explained that some people murder for monetary gain or ideological reasons, she insisted that those with such a corrupted value system could easily be characterized as mentally ill.
She's a social-studies teacher in our public school system...inculcating our children with such values.

Cornelius,
Can you tell us if your sister-in-law thinks those who are mentally ill should be involuntarily committed? That would have been the case once. If killers are, by definition, insane then they should be committed to institutions for the criminally insane. If their values system is so corrupted that they can't be held responsible for their actions then they should be locked up or hospitalized.

Have your sister-in-law committed.

Crackdown? There were 19,000 MB koranimals in Egyptian prisons on September 11, 2001. Four years into Bush's phony war, less than 5000 of those pigs were incarcerated. Bush has pressured Egypt to allow political islam to flourish. Consequence: secularism is nearly dead in Egypt.
Don't believe it? In a 'seventies picture of Egyptian Cabinet Ministers with their wives, all the women are wearing Western garb. In a similar picture taken in 2005, all were veiled. In 2008, it is unlikely that their husbands would be permitted to be photographed with them. King George the Fourth isn't waging war on Islamofascists; his fight is against Secularism.
Watching post 9-11 America is like seeing a new chapter of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. A pretext to annihilate the enemy was handed to the American leadership, and they chose to subsidize them. Bozos who believe that divine right falls to the Bush Crime Family, should work for restoration of the English monarchy in America.

PMK,
I'm not certain she would oppose the outcome you suggest, as long as the guilty were not executed...(would should seem paradoxical but is in fact fully consonant with the Left-wing ethos, she is a staunch supporter of abortion rights).
Hugh,
By all accounts, she's a good person...excepting her twisted political inclinations. I can't even discuss politics with her or my bro any more. I look at it as my own failing...that I don't have the powers of persuasion...or the patience...to guide them through their myopia.
So we talk about the kids, music, etc...keep it neatly sanitized...and when politics inadvertently enters the conversation, we both start out gingerly, seeking common ground, but invariably, usually within a couple of minutes, incredulity and mutual contempt reign.

By continuing to to fund Mubarak's regime, the American government is increasing the likelihood that the Muslim Brotherhood will inherit Egypt. All American aid should be cut off now. It should be done for several reasons:
1) Egypt has failed to honor any of its solemn commitments under the Camp David Accords, and the given reason for such aid was to encourage Egypt to fulfill those commitments. Far from encouraging friendly relations with Israel, the government of Egypt and its courtiers and controlled press have all been whipping up anti-Israel, and antisemitic sentiments, that if you steadily read or listened to or viewed them, would leave you gasping.
2) Egypt is run by Mubarak, a Lord of Misrule, and he continues to spend a fortune, relative to Egypt's wealth, on armaments that can have only one conceivable use.
3) Egypt has been a staunch defender, behind the scenes, of the Arab government in Khartoum, and has successfully blocked or delayed effective efforts to stop the mass-murder, by Arabs of black Africans in both Darfur and the southern Sudan.
4) The people of Egypt are, and always will be, entirely ungrateful for the enormous sums lavished upon that country -- now up to $65 billion -- by the American taxpayers.
5) Egypt is preparing for war, and it is even engaged in research on the kind of weapons that are called "of mass destruction." Egyptian scientists were found to be collaborating with Iraqi counterparts in the government of Saddam Hussein.
6) Continued American aid makes America more unpopoular, for that aid helps feed the appetites of the stratokleptocrats who have run Egypt ever since Farouk was run out of town. In particular, it pays the bills for Mubarak's Family-and-Friends Plan, and those who resent the corruption and maldistribution of wealth in Egypt also resent those who supply some of that wealth that is seized by the rulers and their courtier class.

Do you have any idea how many school teachers would have to be committed if Cornelius's sister were to meet that fate?
She is his sister so I don't think he'd want that for her.
Though I can't resist the argument that it would be the logical thing to do. I am hoping that one day liberalism will be viewed as the dangerous aberration we cognoscenti already know it to be..
On the other hand... the islamos deal with their family members in the most cruel of ways as soon as they stray from islamic doctrine.
We are trying to preserve our humanity from these fascists and it might be a very close call some day.
I can already imagine myself doing things I'd never have considered myself capable of.
It's called steeling one's will for the coming fight for survival.

Part of what has really hardened my attitude anad what i am prepared to do if I ever have the need to is having been eyewitness to the islamo-terrorist mass murder of 9/11 from merely a mile or so distance.
I still have the tape i shot that day.
The other things is things I have seen on Youtube. They think they are recruiting jihadists with their vile beheading videos and the rest of their satanic content. They are also recruiting people like me to stand up and realize that should the day ever come where violence will be necessary.. they have done a fantastic job of convincing me that I shall show no mercy should I ever be in a situation of violence with a moslem.
Keep showing your nihilist misanthropic stuff on OUR technology. I want more people to feel as I do.
I am seeking to win OUR hearts and minds.
We need to defeat liberalism and the evil of PC before we can go out and really kick islam @ss.
right now we are still sliding the wrong way. Spain just gave a huge electoral victory to the Socialist Dhimmipatero.
Like I said in a another thread.. only England can save us all from ourselves.
