Indonesia warns that Dutch Qur'an film could disturb interfaith harmony

9/11, that couldn't disturb interfaith harmony. Bali bombings? Nope. 7/7 in London? Naah. Over 10,000 jihad terror attacks since 9/11? No problem. But a film about the contents of the Qur'an -- now that will disturb interfaith harmony.

"Indonesia warns Dutch anti-Islam film can disturb interfaith harmony," from Xinhua (thanks to James):

JAKARTA, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia on Friday warned Dutch lawmaker not to release an anti-Islam film which could destroy interfaith harmony, the country foreign ministry said here.

Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders, who heads the Freedom Party, will release his short film this month, which he says will depict the Koran as a 'fascist book', despite mounting protests and a disagreement from the Dutch government.

Indonesian foreign ministry and religious leaders from all religions have opposed the release, saying it could trigger backlash from Muslims.

Gee, ya think?

"I -Heart- Disturbing Interfaith Harmony!"

Thanks, Indonesia! :)

"What interfaith harmony is he talking about?" - from above

He's talking about the "interfaith harmony" which the non-Muslims of the world suicidally afford the Muslims, allowing them to move vast numbers of Muslim foot soldiers into the enemy camp of the infidels. He means the "interfaith harmony" which, if uninterupted, and allowed to continue as the Muslims very much desire, will continue to allow and encourage Muslims to swell their ranks to wage Jihad in the lands of the infidels. He's talking about the "interfaith harmony" which only appears to be "interfaith" and harmoniuos as long as infidels remain confused and in the dark about Islam. That "interfaith harmony". But I know you knew that already.

Yet again Satan Khomeini is proven wrong. There is plenty of humor in Islamania.

The above article reminds me of that mushy old Engelbert Humperdinck tune, "Please Release Me, Let Me Go!"

The world needs MORE such Islamic backlashes and more such expose-documentaries on Islam's horrors out to generate them! Then MAYBE we can get past all this lunacy (or not).

Posted by: Sounder [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 14, 2008 12:46 PM

Actually, their idea of interfaith harmony is putting a knife to an infidel's neck and running that knife back and forth in a harmonious manner til the head falls off.

Posted by: ISLAMSFORLOSERS [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 14, 2008 12:48 PM

Yes..yes thats right..if this film is released..why inter-faith harmony could deteriorate to the point where little Christian school girls might be kidnapped and beheaded. We know such a thing could never happen now so lets back off and not risk angering the peaceful followers of islam. So far so good so lets not risk it.

We'll just have to pass the production amongst ourselves through the underground.

And then do reviews so people will get incensed and insist on seeing it themselves.

Certainly a brave man is Geert Wilders.

You mean they're going to burn more cars in Paris, assassinate more journalists in the Netherlands, shoot more rockets into Sderot, broadcast more state-sponsored anti-American, anti-Israeli, anti-Western propaganda on official state television channels throughout the Middle East, kill more fellow Muslims in suicide bombings in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Wow.

Filmmaker, Van Gogh, interrupted interfaith harmony, and look what he got. Isn't that what Indonesia is saying?

Posted by: rational [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 14, 2008 3:06 PM

What else is new? When pressuring minorities to do their bidding, the Indonesian government, or the muslim groups always start with this kind of language. ie:

In order to maintain the harmoniouis relationship of the different faiths ......... etc. etc.

Of course the minorities, didn't have any choice but to follow what was demanded of them.

This is along the line of what is said in the Kuran where the non Muslims should be invited to embrace Islam, otherwise .........

We take that as a threat but in the convoluted way of the Muslim's supremacist way of thinking, they were being generous for giving the infidels the chance to 'accept their invitation'.

When are the world leaders, especially our leaders going out and say forthright that the terrorists ideology is found in their religious scripture?????

Posted by: jasmine [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 14, 2008 3:08 PM

One first has to have interfaith harmony in order to distrub it.

The west has given chance after chance (out of fear, but still) for Islam to be portrayed in a good light, but they don't want that.

Islam wants to be portrayed in a light of domination and power, not goodness and civility.

"....saying it could trigger backlash from Muslims."

Muslims don't need much 'stimuli' for there to be backlash, because Islam is the most intolerant religion known to man. Whether it's a Dutch film, a Motoon, or a woman with her hair down and ankles exposed - Muslims will find it offensive and worthy of riotous behavior & jihad.

What is Islam if it isn't intolerant - and "backlash" is her byproduct.

Posted by: champ [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 14, 2008 3:46 PM

This whole Muslim Backlash thing is a big fat set up and an excuse, as always . They are simply looking for another excuse to call US intolerant. What damage could this 15 min film about the Quran by Wilders possibly do to Islams image to merit this outrage ? nothing in context to the violence and threats for sure . I say this cause R. Spencers books, olus the Film " Islam , what the west needs to know " also featuring R. Spencer and many other editorial and critical pieces have not gotten nearly this level of attention and " Islam , what the west needs to know " is a 1 + hour detailed dissection of Islams Violent Ideology that leaves in naked and exposed for what it is .
They clearly just want confrontation with freedom of speech, democracy and Non Muslims in general. their intentions are more than clear. THEY want an all out conflict with western civilization and are prepared to inflate even the most insignifigant event such as Wilders film as the highest insult. I am very skeptical that this film can even scratch the surface in 15 mins.

Some good news:

Vanhanen says Finland will back the Netherlands over Wilders film

Matti Vanhanen (centre), the Finnish prime minister, said Finland would support the Netherlands if the release of a short film by Geer Wilders, a Dutch right-wing MP, resulted in a political backlash. The Dutch government fears the 15-minute film called Fitna will lead to a repeat of the protests in Muslim countries triggered by the printing of the Muhammad cartoons by Danish daily Jyllands-Posten two years ago.Mr Vanhanen made the announcement on the first day of a European Council meeting in Brussels.

Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the Danish prime minister, said Denmark would also show solidarity to the Netherlands.

The Dutch government has already undertaken preparations in anticipation of unrest, including evacuation plans for embassies and heightened security measures for military bases.

Mr Wilders has said the Qur’an is a dangerous and violence-fomenting book and that the film will lay this bare.

Show your film in parliament, MPs tell Wilders

Socialist, Liberal, GroenLinks and D66 MPs would not object to Geert Wilders’ showing his anti-Koran film in the parliament building itself, the Volkskrant reports on Friday.

Wilders has dropped plans for a formal launch in the nearby press centre because of the security costs.

‘A lack of money should not stop an MP doing his job,’ GroenLinks leader Femke Halsema was quoted as saying.

D66 leader Alexander Pechtold said the government should pay the security costs. ‘If he wants to do it in parliament itself, he can count on my support,’ Pechtold told the paper.

Wilders has not made a request to use the parliamentary facilities and refused to explain his reasoning.

MPs suspect he has political motives for ignoring their offers of help, the paper says. ‘He’s in the news every week, sometimes as a victim, and he is enjoying it,’ Pechtold said.

‘The fact he has not asked MPs says a lot,’ Socialist party leader Jan Marijnissen was quoted as saying.

MPs from the three governing parties say the decision is up to the people who run the building. ‘A screening in the parliamentary complex is not a political but a civil service decision,’ Christian Democrat MP Sybrand van Haersma Buma told the paper.

Since Indonesian muslims are attacking and killing Indonesian Christians in Indonesia, why don't they deal with their own 'interfaith harmony' before they try and send it overseas.

Indonesian courts release muslims that kill Christains, but prosecute Christians for the simplest of things.

I guess 'interfaith harmony' is translated as don't object to muslims killing you when they show up to kill you or it will upset the harmony.

If the "tolerant strain of the religion (islam)" is warning of violence over a harmless 15 minute film, just what does that say about the rest of them?

Since islam has to be qualified as having a "tolerant strain", that pretty much sums it up.

"disturb interfaith harmony" has a completely different meaning for Muhammedans.

'Interfaith' simply means unhindered da'awa. As long as Muslims can build mosques in the countries of the infidels and migrate there in large numbers to spread the faith, there is 'interfaith harmony'- if the truth comes out and the spread of Islam is jeopardized, the Muslims must wage war against the 'oppressor'.

By Bassam Tibi, Muslim scholar of jihad:

‘At its core, Islam is a religious mission to all humanity. Muslims are religiously obliged to disseminate the Islamic faith throughout the world. “We have sent you forth to all mankind” (Q. 34:28).
If non-Muslims submit to conversion or subjugation, this call (da’wa) can be pursued peacefully. If they do not, Muslims are obliged to wage war against them. In Islam, peace requires that non-Muslims submit to the call of Islam, either by converting or by accepting the status of a religious minority (dhimmi) and paying the imposed poll tax, jizya.

World peace, the final stage of the da’wa, is reached only with the conversion or submission of all mankind to Islam…Muslims believe that expansion through war is not aggression but a fulfillment of the Qur’anic command to spread Islam as a way of peace. The resort to force to disseminate Islam is not war (harb), a word that is used only to describe the use of force by non-Muslims. Islamic wars are not hurab (the plural of harb) but rather futuhat, acts of “opening” the world to Islam and expressing Islamic jihad.

Relations between dar al-Islam, the home of peace, and dar al-harb, the world of unbelievers, nevertheless take place in a state of war, according to the Qur’an and to the authoritative commentaries of Islamic jurists. Unbelievers who stand in the way, creating obstacles for the da’wa, are blamed for this state of war, for the da’wa can be pursued peacefully if others submit to it.

In other words, those who resist Islam cause wars and are responsible for them.’

How insulting to the Dutch. To think that after the Film, the Natives are all going to run outside with sticks and Stones.

Posted by: flowerknife_us [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 14, 2008 5:28 PM

With fear of parroting other posts: Inter-faith harmony… there is no such mix in the worldview of Islam. In fact there is, but, one view, intolerance of those deviating from the, so-called, true faith, Islam. Nor will there ever be inter-faith harmony unless, the unlikely happens, Islam is quashed. However, with the present worldview of the, “please like us,” West, it will not be too far into the future that we will be carting our moth-eaten prayer mats and dog-eared Quran’s to the local mosque.
Islam does not need a film, a cartoon or anything for that matter to stoke its total hatred for non-believers; this hatred is inherent. The sooner our dullard politico powerbrokers arrive at this reality; we may save ourselves a trip or five to the mosque; more so, our future as a civilization.

Taking note of the title for this Fox News report:

First Catholic Church Opens in Qatar, Sparking Fear of Backlash Against Christians

Notice the report opens with the statement:
Qatar's first Christian church has no cross, no bell and no steeple.

Can't help noticing the overall shape of the structure makes will make it sooo much easier to revert to a mosque when the dustup settles. And here I thought the muhammedans weren't innovative.

Posted by: justamomof4 [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 14, 2008 6:09 PM

After reading the above link, the church and its members are either very courageous or very naive.

The mere fact that they can't even put a sign outside is cause for concern.

This is not exactly a good indication of inter-faith harmony.

Posted by: The Cool Ghoul [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 14, 2008 6:11 PM

Since the present "interfaith harmony" consists of tolerating suicide bombers, teaching hate and longing for genocide, beheadings, terrorism, supremicism, misogyny, etc. etc. Why NOT disturb it?

Posted by: Xero G [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 14, 2008 6:51 PM

when Islamic societies talk of peace and harmony they mean something quite different to what we understand under these terms.

We assume these mean a kind of symmetric coexistence. Necessitating a secular egalitarian form of government, and all belief systems being equal under the law.

that is not what the Quran says about peace and harmony. Here ‘Peace’ means that while people of the book are tolerated, they are second class. A form of religious apartheid. ‘Harmony’ means that that non-Muslims have accepted their fate, their no go zones.

This kind of fundamental asymmetric character of Islam pervades the Islam society’s lawmaking. So for example you can convert to become a Muslim but the reverse is as major crime punishable by death.

Posted by: raven_ [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 14, 2008 7:29 PM

Pelayo,

"I'm still waiting for the backlash from non-Muslims. When will it happen?"

attempted answer:

Apparently 9-11 was not enough for that. Of course, we had our "leader(s)" doing everything possible to put the blame on "Terror," not "Islam."

One hopes that there are sufficient people that will be outraged when "they push us too far."

At the rate the jihad--violent and "silent" or whatever the destruction of our economy and our will to defend ourselves is called--is progressing, however, the "push too far" may never come--it will not be necessary to advance our destruction at the hands of Islam.

Posted by: unicorns62000 [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 14, 2008 7:35 PM

Muslims play the outrage card without any reciprocity. I think Geert Wilder is correct in continuing to provoke Muslims. It is an act of resistance against Islamic aggression. Muslims want non-Muslims to be passive uncle Tom's who say, "Yessa Mista Mohammad ... weeessss sorry we upset yah!"

If Muslims are upset with such small things, it only highlights that Islam can not produce a culture capable of sustaining a diverse civil society.

I'm with you 100%. As someone said in an earlier post, the clash with muslims is inevitable. Let's get it over with before millions more invade our countries and join the ever- expanding islamic fifth columns that exist wherever muslims migrate in large numbers.

It would be a tremendous hardship for everyone but we would survive a cutoff of Arab oil. We would then have to build more refineries and drill our own oil or find alternative energy sources, which have not been encouraged so as not to upset the filthy Saudi beasts. This entire oil dependency fiasco is self-inflicted, or should I say it has been inflicted on us by the greedy politicians, who won't suffer a moment and don't give a damn how much the people suffer. I despise everything about islam and I will never change my mind. I don't want anything they have and I don't want muslims in my country. They will hate us until we all convert to islam and nothing is going to change that. Why continue to enrich these animals and allow them to pollute our lands with their vile religion and their malevolent agenda? Let's get it over with and be done with the savages instead of allowing them to use the trillions we pay them for oil to corrupt our societies and threaten our way of life. They are hardly worth even small sacrifices, much less our civilization.
