Turkish prosecutors say ruling party seeks Islamic state

This has been obvious for quite some time. "Turkish prosecutors say AK Party seeks Islamic state," by Gareth Jones for Reuters (thanks to all who sent this in):

ANKARA (Reuters) - State prosecutors demanding the closure of Turkey's ruling AK Party accuse it of trying to turn the country into an Islamic state, according to the text of their indictment quoted on Saturday by Turkish media.

The 162-page file, sent to Turkey's Constitutional Court on Friday evening, marks the latest shot in a long-running feud between the fiercely secular elite, which includes judges and army generals, and the religiously-minded government.

The prosecutors' move has raised investor fears of possible political and economic instability in Turkey, a European Union candidate, though a final court verdict may take many months.

"There is an attempt to expunge the secular principles of the constitution ... The guiding principle of political Islam is sharia (Islamic) law," private broadcaster CNN Turk quoted the indictment as saying.

"The AK Party envisages a model (of society) which takes its reference from religion."...

I'm starting to understand that Sharia Law might just be the preference of the New World Order.

No, I'm not kidding.

And to think that even President Bush recommended Turkey into the EU.

It is getting past crunch time to getting to find out if Presidential candidates will have a better understanding of the aspirations of Islam; frankly it has been looking direly sad from here.

But AK are also infiltrating the Turkish Army.

"General Solmaztuerk's fear is that if the EU continues to water down the military's power it will be easy to narrow the separation between state and mosque.

And he goes further than criticism of government policy.

He talks of secretive Islamic groups "infiltrating" the army's ranks.

"They see the army as the main obstacle to achieving their aim of an Islamic republic," he says.

And he claims their method would mirror "orders given in the late 70s by Khomeini to some Iranian officers to kill their generals and launch the revolution"."

The EU's membership stipulations, however, will save them the trouble of having to infiltrate the army.

The media is too busy making excuses for the statements of candidates and their hirelings to worry about their knowledge of Islam. The media doesn't even have time to educate itself on Islam's aspirations. To do so might change their worldview and that would be very disquieting. The media is too busy cheering the "talk to our enemies" platform that counts as strategy in some circles. Nothing can be allowed to interfere with the election of their preferred candidate. The horse race is everything. They'll worry about the long-term implications later.

And the European commissar comes to rescue islamists!

I translate a news from AFP published tonight in the Figaro

Brussels challenges Turkish justice

The European commissar for widening EU Olli Rehn invited today Turkish justice "not to interfere with democratic policy", after a request had been deposited before the constitutional court to dissolve party AKP in power in Turkey. Source : AFP

"...long-running feud between the *fiercely* secular *elite*, which includes judges and *army generals*, and the *religiously-minded* government."

Which side do you think the Reuters people favor? The phrase "religiously-minded" sounds very moderate. The words "fiercely" and "elite" usually have negative connotations. Of course, the MSM treats all "army generals" as evil.

I am glad to hear that there is a Judiciary in Turkey that provides some checks and balances against the Government. Military coups have overturned governments in Turkey. That may not be preferable but would probably keep Turkey out of the EU.

... and the religiously-minded government.

Religiously-minded???
Is that the appropriate word for defining a sharia-based government and its electorate?
Come on, give me a break!
Hearing the comments from the USA (United States of Arabia) officials and the Eurabian Union over this story, it has now become crytstal clear which countries are clearly supporting the global Jihad.
So much about the Eurabian and Arabo-American integrity.
Btw, could you please folks cut with that bullshit of Turkey's Eurabian candicacy?
Since such a thing is impossible no matter what this piece of camel dung George "W.C" Bush does, it is time to seriously focus on the benefits of keeping an "undemocratic" but secular Turkey out of EU, instead of luring a "democratic" but "islamist" Turkey into the EU membership.
You can talk to reason with secularists but you can not do the same with islamists no matter how "mild" that become.
Time is running up, make up your dhimmi mind you idiotic western governments.
You have got nothing to loose but your intellectual virginity.

Turkey is like Siamese twins trying pull apart.

With the secularists being the half that wouldn't survive to breach.

Because their brain is not connected to their guts.

(The EU needs Turkey the way a cancer patient needs a broken leg.)
