Retired Kuwaiti pop star joins al-Qaeda

Before and after

Now here's an alternative to becoming a nostalgia act.

He says: “I then informed my family and friends that I would retire from the dark world of sin (singing). Since then, my job has been to warn against arts and their sinful atmosphere.” Notice that when he decides to turn away from sin and pursue holiness by being a devout Muslim, he ends up in Al-Qaeda. Yet in the West we are still commanded by all -- government, mainstream media, Muslim spokesmen -- to ignore the jihadists' claim to represent the true and pure Islam, and to pretend that that appeal has no resonance among Muslims.

From Al-Arabiya (thanks to Sr. Soph):

A retired Kuwaiti superstar singer has recently left the Gulf emirate for Afghanistan to join ranks with al-Qaeda and Taliban forces in fighting foreign troops there, according to a press report published Saturday.

Hussein al-Ahmad, who was until recently one of the Gulf’s most famous pop stars, decided to join “his Mujahideen brothers in Afghanistan to support Islam and fight alongside his fellow Muslims in al-Qaeda”, reported Kuwaiti daily Al-Rai Saturday.

Al-Ahmad has previously told Kuwait’s Al-Rai TV that the reason he decided to quit singing was “a dream” where he saw his “own journey from this world into the hereafter through death”.

“I’ve seen horrors and terrors I don’t think anybody else has. I thanked Allah for being alive when I woke up and I was grateful for the fact that He has given me a second chance,” the retired singer said.

“I then informed my family and friends that I would retire from the dark world of sin (singing). Since then, my job has been to warn against arts and their sinful atmosphere.”...

Fear of hellfire, a powerful weapon in islam's arsenal.

This is a natural outcome when the "Star" cannot frolic with the Groupies.

What a promotional stunt to the start of his new Rage Tour. An all acoustic affair due to lack of electricity

Wow. Just looking at the before and after...I see someone I would probably like to have as a friend and then someone I would avoid as much as possible. What is it with the crazy blank eyes? It's like they surrend their personalities and wait to be told what to do and think next. Sad.

His dreams were of Lilith I bet. Queen of the night demons, said to visit men in their dreams and give them visions of Allah's fabulous 72.
I can relate to that, Lilith visits my dreams regularly. I have seen the 72, and frankly, I am not impressed. Seeing that ahead of time would discourage any muslim. That's why the descriptions are flowery, but the actual place is run down. The virgins are overweight and not good looking, the wine is stale, most of the fruit is rotten, and the couch has hard lumps in it. Sort of like a cheap motel in a blighted part of town, with hookers but no TV.
Of course Hussein al-Ahmad, does not know that it was Lilith that caused him to abandon his day job and take up Al-Qaeda and Islam full time.
Well Hussein might make it to Paradise if he goes up against US soldiers, but once he gets there and looks around, he will wish he still had his singing job...

the reason he decided to quit singing was “a dream” where he saw his “own journey from this world into the hereafter through death”.

Is there any other way to get from this world into the hereafter? Won't everyone make the journey at some point?

The sad thing is he's probably safer in al Qaeda than as a pop star and he'll have a lot more adoring fans. If Islam views music as sin then how does anyone become a musician in Kuwait in the first place? What schools would be allowed to operate? What instruments are allowed? It's all very heretical.

What's this about Ringo Starr???

Knowing what a hell their actual reality can be, I don't even want to contemplate the nature of muslim dreams. The before and after photo reveals the same demented man..one in uniform the other without.

Ruled by fear.
He follows the "god" of 1st degree murder.
Ironic isn't it? When he stands before the true God, he will see that he has fallen hook, line and sinker for the "Great Deceiver".

I'm happy he gave up the sinful life of a pop star, and can now get down to a second chance at a pious life of murder and mayhem.

Fear of Hellfire II, a powerful weapon in the U.S. military's arsenal!

LOL!

Sorry, Silvester--I couldn't resist! ;)

Now here's an alternative to becoming a nostalgia act.
................................

Yeah, it makes turning up in Branson, or Konocti Harbor, or even the county fair look pretty good in comparison.

More from above:

Hussein al-Ahmad, who was until recently one of the Gulf’s most famous pop stars, decided to join “his Mujahideen brothers in Afghanistan to support Islam and fight alongside his fellow Muslims in al-Qaeda”, reported Kuwaiti daily Al-Rai Saturday.
.........................

Yet another difference between Islam and Christianity. Now, a lot of musicians over the years have left their old wild life as Jazz or Blues or Rock or Rap musicians and embraced religion. For most of those finding Christianity, though, that might mean dedicating themselves to the church, preaching, or singing Gospel or Christian Rock.

Some have certainly denounced their past lifestyles, but I don't recall a single case where someone decided their new life involved murdering non-Christians in order to show their commitment to their faith.

Only thing I can say is it will certainly make for a rather colorful VH1 "Where are They Now" in a few years.

His family should sue the street vendor that sold him the bad falafel.

We all have bad dreams. Only Muslims have a ready-made ideology encouraging murderous psychopathy upon waking.

Artists get far too much credit for spiritual virtue and mental ability.

The fact is that the better parts of all too many artist's minds are concentrated exclusively in their artistic skills, and the rest of the mind is mediocre at best.

Cat Stevens, or whatever his real name is, went this way as well.

History is full of stories of artists adopting crackpot philosophies and attaching themselves to questionable or even evil causes.

May he realize his dream journey accompanied only by his friends.

When hearing again of a Moslem singer "retiring" (back into the womb or better-said "entrails" of Islam) a weariness grips one. One thinks of what-s-his-name? Yussuf Islam, is it?

Message to all "hypocrits"--in the original sense of the word as used by Mohammed:

"Wretches! Utter Wretches! Keep your hands from beans"
--hat tip to Empedokles

What has that admonition got to do with retired Islamic singers?

Make of it it whatever you will. Use your imagination.

Pop Star to Proponent of Evil!

I see - he gave up one dark world only to join an even darker side.

His last record must have really bombed.
