This manual has been around for years. I quoted the above in my 2002 book Islam Unveiled. But it's something useful to keep in mind -- when jihadists are speaking to jihadists, they drop the pretense we forever hear from Muslim spokesmen in the West, that it is false that Islam was "spread by the sword." It would be interesting to hear those Muslim spokesmen challenge the jihadists on this point, but of course they never do.

The amazing series of events that led to an Al Qaeda terrorist manual becoming freely available on the internet can be revealed today.Only last week a terror suspect was jailed in Britain for having a copy of it and told that its possession was a “serious criminal offence”.
But the deadly document, described as a Declaration of Jihad, is a public record in the US – after being translated from Arabic and typed up for MI5, passed to the American authorities and then declassified by the Department of Justice.
The manual includes advice on planning kidnappings, bombings, assassinations and torture.
It was originally handwritten in Arabic and available only to a very few Al Qaeda operatives and commanders directly linked to Osama Bin Laden.
The terror handbook was discovered in an abandoned flat in Manchester by MI5 and Special Branch officers after a raid in 2000. They were looking for one of the world's most wanted terrorists, Anas al-Liby, who has a £2.5million bounty on his head.
He is said to have been behind the bombings at the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998 which left hundreds dead and thousands wounded.
In 2001 it was translated and handed to US prosecutors for use in a series of court cases held in the wake of the embassy bombings.
Its use in evidence led to its release to the public by the New York Southern District Court under the US Freedom of Information Act.
It remained on the record despite the 9/11 attacks just months later.
In 2005, the English version of the manual was used as an “operational blueprint” by the July 7 bombers.
It was also used by terrorist Kamel Bourgass, who was behind a plot to launch a deadly poison attack in London and was jailed for killing a Manchester police officer.
And last week it featured in another terrorist trial when Khalid Khaliq – a friend of the 7/7 London bombings mastermind Mohammed Siddique Khan – was jailed for 16 months after admitting having a copy of it on a CD found during a police raid at his home.
The judge in the case said possession of the material required an “immediate custodial sentence”.
An edited version of the manual is still available from the US Department of Justice's website.
An explanatory note reads: “The attached manual was located by the Manchester (England) Metropolitan Police during a search of an Al Qaeda member's home. The manual was found in a computer file described as 'the military series' related to the 'Declaration of Jihad'.
“The manual was translated into English and was introduced . . . at the embassy bombing trial in New York.” [...]
Entitled “Declaration of Jihad against the country's Tyrants”, the inside cover depicts the globe with a sword thrust through the middle, while the first page contains the warning: “It is forbidden to remove this from the house”, suggesting it was once communal reading material at an Al Qaeda safe house.
The reader is then confronted with the “Presentation” which says: “Islamic governments have never been established through peaceful solutions . . . They are established as they [always] have been by pen and gun, by word and bullet, by tongue and teeth.”
The book's handwritten introduction spells out Al Qaeda's mission. It says its aim is “the overthrow of the godless regimes and their replacement with an Islamic regime”.
To do this they must “gather information about the enemy . . . kidnap enemy personnel, documents, secrets and arms . . . assassinate enemy personnel as well as foreign tourists”.
It also recommends “blasting and destroying the embassies and attacking vital economic centres, blasting and destroying bridges leading into and out of the cities”.
It spells out the “necessary qualifications” of membership including a willingness to “undergo martyrdom”.
Chapters are split into “lessons” and include headings such as Counterfeit Currency and Forged Documents, Weapons, Espionage, Secret Writing and Cipher and Codes.
The Sixteenth Lesson is “Assassinations Using Poisons and Cold Steel” and the Seventeenth is “Torture Methods”....
What piety!

How often do ya come up against an enemy that hands you the proof of the truth that you speak about them on an almost daily basis, then denies that truth/proof with violence and hatred that they contend is not part of their religions approved behavior. Is this the act of the insane or what?
If we're crusaders as some of our Muslim friends have stated...that is, Crusaders, then my sword is truth...or is it my keyboard? Anywho, keep speakin' the truth about their religion/government and strive to make others understand the danger that is Islam.
Truth is the greatest enemy of Islam.
Has anyone heard from the usual suspects lately?
Is thesaracen still waving his stunted Islamic sword of knowledge in our faces? Has Naseem been defending any recent Islamic barbarities? Or have they seen the futility of attempting to defend the indefensible against an informed audience?
I've been busy so some of their posts could easily have gotten by me. Seems as though none of the defenders of Islam that take up the cause against us here lasts for very long... One can only argue that the Earth is flat for so long I suppose.

I would like to believe that a manual like this will wake up our political, religious, academic and cultural leaders to the dangers Islam poses to the West, but I'm not holding my breath.
Appologists for Islam are not interested in evidence that contridicts their ideology. If the ideology says Islam is a peaceful religion, then Islam is a peaceful religion.
9/11, 7/7/, death fatwas against cartoonists, film makers and authors can't seem to make a dent in their ideological views, so it's highly unlikely that a manual will.
It's might be a terrible thing to lose a mind, but, in the case of Western ideologues, it might not be all that terrible after all, and could increase our chances of survival.

The gun, bullet and teeth part of jihad is taken care of by Osama bin Laden.
The pen, word and tongue component is taken care of by Ibrahim Hooper, at least in the US.
They are one and the same and agree with the ends: that America becomes another Islamic Republic implementing sharia law.
That manual should be compulsory reading for ALL of our politicians and the public as many of them still don't realise what we are up against.

And that's all our media sees - a smiling, apparently calm and peaceful Muslim telling everyone how much he loves America and how wrong we are for questioning so much as one syllable in the Koran. American media and (in their own minds) academics are more enablers than apologists.

That's all people need to hear. If we can't get the proper nuance in an English koran then surely translators got something wrong when they created the English version of this document. "Islamic governments have never been established through peaceful solutions" must mean something different from what is actually on the page. Maybe "never", in this context, is really the Arabic word for "always"!
"Plain English" is easy to read.
"Plain Arabic" doesn't exist.

Excellent examples of "Islamic governments established" by gun which everyone should recognize;
Endless violence committed by Muslims with the express purpose of serving Islam such as 9/11, 7/7, and of course the endless list of beheadings, hand and finger choppings, kidnappings, "suicide" mass murders, targeting of civilians, & co.
Excellent example off "Islamic governments established" by tongue and word which everyone should recognize; endless denials by all Muslims that Islam has anything to do with violence.

That was during the Bill Clinton administration. Was this Manchester cell motivated by the NATO invasion of Afghanistan (2002) or the US / UK invasion of Iraq(2003)?

So why don't we ever hear about Imams and other Al Qaeda leaders strapping on a vest? How about Gadahn the American Traitor? These guys always preaching the glory of dieing for allah, but they never sign up themselves. Must not be righteous enough.

Most of the time I consider myself a near free-speech absolutist, defending even speech that I find personally abhorent.
That being said, this document is being used directly to incite murder. Further, inciting murder was the original context--that was why this document found its way into the court record in the first place. That it occured to no one at the Department of Justice that this was potentially dangerous to not just the American public, but also the British public (which is where they obtained the document in the first place), and, indeed, to all innocent people anywhere in the world, is profoundly disturbing.
Either the original court staff had no real understanding of the jihad ideology, despite their having prosecuted the case, or else the DOJ is such a bloated bureaucracy that the staff who finally declassified the documents had no guidance whatsoever.
Neither scenario inspires much confidence.

The lack of exploration of the texts of the militant Mohammedans by Western "thinkers" (professors, writers, artists, reporters, teachers, politicos, religious leaders, military strategists, ad nauseam) is appalling.

The so-called terror handbook of 2002 was nothing less than a declaration of modern war, nothing more than a continuance of the numerous violent Islamic jihads that are recorded throughout 1400 years of our bloody history.The majority of Muslims in the West don't support the declaration, and must realize that this war declared by Islamics cannot be won.Why won't they join free people and fight the madness hiding within their religion?The answer is in their holy books, and the terror handbook as well.
Read them all, Westerners.Too many Muslims apparently don't understand their own religion, so somebody has to.
