The Rumpled Academic in a less academic setting
That's right, friends: It's time for what has become all too rare these days, a Rumpled Academic Update. And it comes courtesy an AP story riddled with the typical bias.
First, there's the headline: "Ex-prof with alleged terror ties refuses to testify in U.S. court," from The Associated Press (thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist).
Alleged terror ties? There is nothing alleged about them. Read on.
A former professor is again refusing to testify to a federal grand jury in Alexandria investigating Muslim charities and businesses in northern Virginia.Sami al-Arian's refusal to testify sets the stage for prosecutors to bring contempt of court charges for a third time against the former University of South Florida professor.
Al-Arian is in the 19th day of a hunger strike to protest his treatment.
Prosecutors have alleged that al-Arian was a leader of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. But his 2005 trial ended in an acquittal on some counts and a hung jury on others. He eventually pleaded guilty to lesser charges....
AP doesn't tell you what he pleaded guilty to. Hmmm. I wonder why not. In reality, he pleaded guilty to a charge of “conspiracy to make or receive contributions of funds to or for the benefit of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a Specially Designated Terrorist” organization. He agreed to accept deportation after a jail sentence.
What's more, the plea agreement specified: "Defendant is pleading guilty because defendant is in fact guilty. The defendant certifies that the defendant does hereby admit that the facts set forth below [in the plea agreement] are true, and were this case to go to trial, the United States would be able to prove those specific facts and others beyond a reasonable doubt.” What’s more, Al-Arian acknowledged that he was “pleading guilty freely and voluntarily…and without threats, force, intimidation, or coercion of any kind."
So that's alleged terror ties? Yes, as much as AP is an alleged news organization.

The case is closed on Sami al-Arian. He managed to plea-bargain away a great deal, though not everything, and he can look forward to being promptly deported once his sentence his served, to live out the rest of his life under wonderful Islam, instead of in the horrible United States.
Amazin how many people, apologists for Islam, have been eager to stand by him, or if not by him, exactly, since he is serving his sentence, then to reach out in obvious solidarity, in other ways. Was it John Esposito -- he who owes his living to Arab money, beginning with a Lebanese contractor and ending with a Saudi prince, who eagerly hired Al-Arian's daughter for a place at his fiefdom, that "Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding," or have I confused John Esposito with someoneelse, possibly someone on Capitol Hill, where the hijabbed assistant in the outer office is possibly one of the most startling features in certain congressional offices, and certainly one that constituents might mention -- just to show that they have not all been intimidated into fearful silence, forced to swallow their misgivings in a great and ostentatious show of "tolerance" that they do not feel and, if they have read the Qur'an, Hadith, and Sira and have good reasons for their reactions, should not feel.

For Sami Al-Arian, it'sThe Umma over All. I eagerly await the unraveling of this conspiratorial fifth column and exposure of its traitorous, malignant designs.

The word allegded is over used to the point of absurdity. Our local TV station reported on an obvious assault and stated that the alledged victim was treated at a local hospital.
The use of alledged is much like a talking head on TV saying "excaped" or "calvary" instead of "cavalry". It's ingorance and sloppy journalism. They alledgedly graduated from
college. It must have been the same Oxford that Jethro Bodine alledgedly attended.

"Alleged" terror ties? Howz'bout convicted terrorist sponsor, enabler, director, so on and so on. Present the facts, not your opinion AP.

Sami al-Arian looks good in handcuffs. The way he's smiling, they must feel comfortable too. Good.

He can call it a hunger strike. I'd call it a diet.

After seeing Esposito's co-author on television in full hijab with not one strand of hair showing, I appreciate the picture here of a blond FEMALE corrections officer holding a position of superiority over a terrorist.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen!

Sami al-Arian seems to have lost his cheering gallery. Where's the Muslim outrage? Where's CAIR? The rats always abandon a sinking ship.

I hope his hunger strike is successful... i.e. that he achieves "martyrdom."
Spencer: So that's alleged terror ties? Yes, as much as AP is an alleged news organization.
LOL... and as much as Islam is a "religion of peace", or a religion at all.
I attended USF when Rumpy was still employeed there; I attended USF when he was fired. Oh, the crazy things the Mobots and their pet "hippies" tried to make his case. It was pathetic; it would have been laughable if not for all those murdered Israelis.
Weekly a new "student group" would form with the sole purposes of praising Al-Aryan, "Palestine," and Islam; or vilifying Dr. Genshaft (the prez of USF), Israel, and Judaica.
Lost on my "liberal" friends was the fact that Al-Aryan was devoutly and openly pro-Bush; he appeared with Bush at at least one rally AT USF. Ah well; I guess it seemed like a good idea at the time.
So the "intellectual" signed his life away by agreeing that he would not be called to testify in a trial... BUT he did not waive his right to refuse to testify at a grand jury hearing. I guess that seemed like a good idea at the time, too... but probably when one feels that victory is all-but assured, that after the prosecution "lost" evidence by shredding the only copies of it (YES. It happened, then the story disappeared faster than the Saudi royals on 09-12-01) and a few Israel haters made it onto your jury... ie. I guess that when your "punishment" is a US-taxpayer-paid flight to your next cushy academic gig; when you think you've gotten off scot-free after having financed the murder of women and children; when you think that you have made a mockery of the US Justice Department and Justice in general; you might be prone to sign things that could later be cause for regret.
And so despite the fact that he cannot be forced to testify at a trial per se, he can be asked to testify at a grand jury hearing and have his prison sentence extended when he refuses to do that. AND of course he could NEVER testify at any grand jury hearing, because THAT would put his jihadi brethren in Egypt, Syria, Lebannon, "Palestine" etc. in jeopardy... and he can't do THAT because eventually he plans to reside in one of those theocratic, backward hellholes.
I KNOW that some supporters of Rumpy peruse this site. And I know why they do it. But anyway, the rest of this missive is for them: the situation in which Dr. Skinny finds himself is known as "pay-back." Remember, we got a lot of the mob bosses on tax evasion; not murder, prostitution, rum-running, killing cops, etc. It's called "technicalities" and USUSALLY it helps despicable murderers like Al-Aryan, the mobsters, et al. But it is a gate that swings both ways.
Yeah, he got off having successfully financed and encouraged the murder of innocent people (I know you phony "Justice and Peace" neo-hipps don't think of Israelis as innocent people, just as your overlords don't think that non-Muslims are really people.) But no matter what you think, he is going to stay behind bars, in America, until he goes to Allah. And if we DO let him go, he's going to go to Israel for a trial first. And you KNOW what will happen there, right? LOL.
Now write him off and get back to claiming those USF "youths" that were caught outside Charleston with pipe bombs were "just" victims of racism.
My fellow anti-jihadis, remember: Fight lies with truth. Fight distortion with logic and facts. Fight insults with laughter. Fight opression with success. Just don't stop fighting.
Find Sami The Skinny's support website (I won't publish the URL here; just google it) and get the address of his "fund" and his cell... drop them a line expressing your support for his situation.
And wish him success in his hunger strike. Maybe THIS time it'll achieve the desired effect.
If anyone wants to talk about what it was like at USF in those days, or discuss Islam, or the "liberal problem" with Islam, please write me.
I haven't been around much of late as I am in the "final throes" of a 2-year divorce/custody battle. But I'm still here... and I still fight Muslim lies with truth.

I love how Bedier and Fibrahim Hooper at CAIR use the " Innocent until proven Non-Muslim" defence for any terrorism arrests .
How can Hooper be so stupid to not see the twisted logic they spew when a man who is "Alleged" to have ties to terrorism ends up stating in public that he has evidence to convict those terrorism helpers but hem refuses to testify.
Why would he even say he refuses if he had nothing to start with , even when a Muslims is convicted and jailed in the USA we hear Hooper and bedier prattle on about a FBI scam and a crooked Judge that was a Islamophobe.
I've given Muslims and islam almost 7 years to prove the "Victimhood" and that islam is hijacked by a few misunderstanders of the real Quran and peaceful teachings by a misogenyist/pedophile , and so far the violent Jihadist supporters say more about islam then the deafening silence from the peaceful 0.0004% of Muslims that chose to live in the Evil USA with those zionist pigs and apes and Crusaders.
Talk about paranoia and denial , 5 billion non-Muslims on earth and all we hear is the B.S. tripe from gaza that the peaceful Muslims are forced to slaughter civilians as suicide bombers
from their poverty because Hamas forces 50% of the Population to be unemployed just for being females that should stay pregnant to produce more suicide bombers to fight the poverty and injustices around the World.
Blah blah, blah blah , blah blah blah blah......hit the snooze buttom again while palestinians slaughter each other on the way to peace .

“Let us continue the protests. Let us damn America. Let us damn Israel. Let us damn their allies until death.” “Mohammad is leader. The Qu’ran is our constitution. Jihad is our path. Victory to Islam. Death to Israel. Revolution! Revolution! Until Victory! Rolling, rolling to Jerusalem.” ~ Sami Al Arian

Hunger strike huh? Jerk the heart strings of the dhimmi bootlicks huh? By all means, keep up the diet SlimSami. Allah the "almighty lord of all worlds" (can't help but chuckle!) will be there for ya when you get REAL skinny...but one thing gets me. Why exactly would the most powerful being in all creation...(sorry, giggling again) need the protest of one of his slaves when HE could just wave his magical hand over the earth and magically convert us all into magically happy little Muslims?
Oh silly me, it's all so magical my imagination almost made me pass out...no wait, I'm just hungry.
