Cheney: "Hamas is supported by Iran and Syria and...they're doing everything they can to torpedo the peace process"

Wow! What was your first clue, Mr. Vice President? And when will you take any notice of the fact that Fatah has shown no sign of honoring any peace agreement, either?

"Cheney says Hamas torpedoes peace," by Deb Riechmann for Associated Press (thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist):

JERUSALEM - Vice President Dick Cheney said Monday that Hamas, with support from Syria and Iran, is trying to "torpedo" peace talks between the Palestinians and Israel.

Meeting reporters after having breakfast with the Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Cheney said, "It is clearly a difficult situation, in part, because I think it's true, there's evidence, that Hamas is supported by Iran and Syria and that they're doing everything they can to torpedo the peace process."

Cheney said in his meeting with Palestinian leaders on Sunday they talked about efforts under way in Yemen to encourage reconciliation between moderate and militant Palestinians.

"My conclusion after talking about this with the Palestinians is that they have established some preconditions before they would ever consider a reconciliation, including a complete reversal of the Hamas takeover of Gaza," he said.

Good luck with that.

The Palis voted for Hamas to represent them. Hamas is the will of the people.

Well, it seems that our government is still not totally correct. They forgot the saudis who are funding other palestinians to be jihadists and also the pakistanis who actively train jihadists in their lands. And they all know it.

I think that our government knows they have to start spouting out Iran and Syria's names so as to prepare our minds for another war. Which doesn't surprise me.

But, it did surprise me that our government finally admitted to this. But, the previous poster stated it is the pals who voted these freaks into office.

And let us not forget Egypt and Europe's help in all of this!

I have long since lost any confidence in those working closely with President Bush. Capable people could not endure the association.

Posted by: HotSpur [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 24, 2008 9:41 AM

I believe that Pres. Bush and Vice Pres. Cheny have known all along where the end result was, as far as the peace agreement between Israel and the palis would end up. I'd wager this President has his hands tied to some extent. As half of America doesn't believe we are at war with Islam and its terriosts sponsor states.

If over 80% of the so-called 'Palestians' approve of a mass murder of yeshiva boys while they study WHO exactly is the CONSTITUENCY of this peaceful Abbas run 'Palestine'?

Israel is at war, and all Israelis are at the front; Israeli will die, no matter before or after negotiations with Islamic terrorists.

Israel should also return to the declared but never consistently practiced policy of hunting down every Arab perpetrator of terrorist acts. Repress Palestinian terrorists’ families and neighbors, take Arab hostages by rounding up villagers, and blow up a couple of Muslim universities. Not fair? Neither is any war means. Suffice it be efficient, and serve Israel well.

Israeli-Arab war differs from other wars by degree. Every war involves civilian casualties, whether they support the war or not. During a declared war, civilian casualties can be minimized. But in a popular war, as distinct from a war waged by military, many civilians participate. Nationalist/peasant wars pit alien armies against terrorists hiding among civilians. Israel cannot fight such a war without Arab civilian casualties. Israel is engaged in such a war with large Arab civilian losses.

Arabs are notoriously flexible about promises and generally have little respect for agreements. Peace is established on the battlefield and sustained by threat. Defense is a tactical device, ineffective long-term. The threat required may be small when people are tired of war,but the threat must be strong and credible, especially with poor but aggressive people like the Arabs who are highly tolerant of suffering.

Among the reasons countries make peace are economic benefits or fear. Present Israeli policies give Arabs nothing to fear. Even when they attack first, Israel wages war humanely without inflicting unbearable loss of life or destruction of property.

Defense hardly ever wins peace; the threat of offense does. Arabs will not make peace with Israel unless they fear Israeli attack. They are comfortable thinking Israel will not attack them and have no reason to negotiate with Israel, especially when certain concessions are involved. Arab disinterest in peace means changes in Israeli military doctrine.

what a liar!!! The stupidity of your government has no limits. Bush gives Israel weapons and then says Iran and Syria can't do the same with Hamas.

Where's the evidence anyway. Might be another lie just like 9/11, Iraq and Afghanistan and possibly Iran.

North Korea told you to shut up and guess what you shut up.

You need Saudi Arabian oil, since most of your oil comes from there. But you don't want to be so reliant on the Saudi's so why not get your own oilfield... ahhhh Iraq. BINGO!!!.

GOD BLESS THE PALESTINIANS.

It's amusing how the Arab Muslims and others always enter into negotiations with pre-conditions, and that those pre-conditions always seem to consist of the other side's acceding to every demand that was to be "discussed" in the first place. In other words, negotiations are always to be about the terms of surrender, not the possibility of compromise for mutual benefit.

Here, even when negotating amongst themselves, they follow the same debilitating pattern. The uncompromising "victors and vanquished" attitude, stemming from incessant Islamic indoctrination, is surely the cause.

Humpf...another Troll invasion
Oh well...since Im bored, I'll reply.

-US gets the bulk of its oil from Canada. Only secondly, from Saudi Arabia. (yawn) hmmmm...wonder if the Sauidi prince's palaces would be made of sand if it weren't for US interests in the first place.

-Israel is a NATION vs Hamas a TERRORIST ORGANIZATION...think we generally prefer to sell to nations.

-Iraq does have the 2nd largest oil amount but if we really wanted it the way you think we want it...don't you think that being the mightiest military in the world, we would of already taken it you fool?

Ok...wake me up when it leaves please.

This is particularly interesting:

However, there is debate over how effective the barrier has been in preventing terrorist attacks. A report by the Shin Beit, published in early 2006 notes that terror attacks in 2005 have significantly decreased due to increased pursuing of Palestinian militants by the Israeli army and intelligence organizations, Hamas's increased political activity, and a truce among Palestinian militant groups in the Palestinian Territories. According to Haaretz the report also mentions that "The security fence is no longer mentioned as the major factor in preventing suicide bombings, mainly because the terrorists have found ways to bypass it."[32]

This morning a man from Israel was being interviewed on national TV and stated that he had proof that secret meetings had been ongoing with Olmert, Maazen (Fatah), and Rice over the divison of Jerusalem. No surprise here, but it looks like 'secret things are being revealed'.

If it weren't for your interests Saudi Arabia would have found someone else. I love that American thinking of how you somehow made this world a better place for everyone. If Saudi Arabia wasn't run by a bunch of puppets you would have invaded them. No doubt about it.
If it wasn't for Saudi oil it would be you that would be plunged back into the depression era, so I don't know what you're talking about.
Israel are run by a bunch of Zionists. You don't sell them weapons, you give it to them. If you are going to do that, then why is Iran not allowed to give weapons to Hezbollah?
If the number of innocent people killed was the bench-mark, I know it wouldn't be Hamas that would be seen as terrorists.

You would have needed a 9/11 to have invaded Iraq
before 2003. Since there is no way you can justify that war. If the people really knew just how evil your government is, they would be in uproar.

'We would have taken it.' LOOOOOOOOOOOL, Tell me how exactly?

On top of that I'm discovering how you hypocrites glorify Jewish terrorism. Sheik yar'mami you are exposed, you hypocrite. Let's see what Robert Spencer says about you.

It doesn't surprise me to hear that those three are discussing the division of Jerusalem, but I strongly doubt that Jerusalem will ever be divided. And if it is, it won't stay that way long. The Palestinians have said from the very beginning that they will not accept any division of Jerusalem; they want it all.

I would imagine that most Israelis feel the same way, even if Mr. Olmert doesn't.

Personally, I don't think the Israelis should give up another square inch of territory. Is there anybody in the world that truly believes that peace can be achieved in that way?

Even if we ignore all the rhetoric, the Palestinians have made it clear by their actions that they will not stop until Israel has been wiped off the map. Any "agreements" or "promises" they make are simply means to an end, and as such, are only temporary.

Some posters here sound like they miss Saddam's Bed and wish he were still around to keep it warm.

After 12 years of cease fire violations we decided on all new Bedroom Furniture rather than just changing the Sheets. There wasn't enough Peroxide to get the Blood out of them.

One should be a little more grateful for the opportunity we gave the Iraqis to freely practice their Faith. Something they seem to do with quite the vengeance.

Hey - is it due to everyone talking about the Wilders movie that stuff like this can be said without raising a firestorm?

Not bad, not bad at all :)

By Ali Sina:

Nadir Ahmed is the name of a Muslim cyber idiot, a lunatic nutcase with no scholarly background.

Nadir Ahmed's knowledge of Islam is zilch and his understanding of logic rates even lower. This pretender aspires to become famous by trying to debate with famous personalities with critical views about Islam. He challenges respectable scholars like Dr. Murray, Sam Shamoun, Robert Spencer to debate with him and while he is defeated logically, Nadir Ahmed insults his opponents until they realize he is just a loony and leave him. Then he edits those debates and publishes them in his site claiming victory.

Bush, Cheney, Rice and all the others who have been unable to spend enough time in quiet study of Islam -- once one has reached the dizzying heights, the conditions for uninterrupted study no longer exist -- are basing both their two-state-solution folly, and their folly in Iraq, on a misunderstanding of Islam. At this point, it is impossible for them to be enlightened. They've done a lot of damage. They could hardly, with the Iraq folly, have done more.

Not despite, but because Islam is a menace, it makes sense to leave Iraq. Not despite, but because Islam is a menace, it makes sense to end, forever, all this peace-processing that can only result in further Israeli concessions, "painful concessions," in exchange for entirely un-painful, because entirely to be breached when the time is right, concessions from the Muslm Arab side.
