JAKARTA - Indonesia has asked Internet providers to block access to the YouTube Web site for carrying a film made by a right-wing Dutch lawmaker which accuses the Koran of inciting violence, an official said on Wednesday.
Indonesia has banned broadcasts of the film by Geert Wilders, leader of the Dutch anti-immigration Freedom Party, and radical Muslims called for the lawmaker’s death during protests outside the Dutch embassy in Jakarta this week.
On Wednesday, a Dutch flag flying outside a consulate in the Sumatran city of Medan was set ablaze.
Indonesia’s information minister, Muhammad Nuh, has written to the video-sharing Web site YouTube asking it to remove the film, said Cahyana Ahmadjayadi, the ministry’s director general for information technology.
“Our efforts include asking Internet service providers to block access to YouTube. They have started doing it now,” Ahmadjayadi told Reuters.
Users subscribing to an Internet service provided by the country’s largest telecoms company, PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, said they could still access YouTube.
Dozens of students burned tyres and pushed against the gate of the Dutch consulate in Medan, prompting police to hold protesters back from around the consulate, Metro TV showed.
The protesters also pulled down a wooden signboard at the consulate. An embassy official said a Dutch flag was taken down and burnt.
“It’s just an honorary consulate, so there’s no sort of security there,” said the official, who declined to be named.
The state Antara news agency reported that police had fired two warning shots and detained 20 people suspected of damaging property.
In mainly Muslim Malaysia, a supermarket chain, Mydin Mohamed Holdings, labelled hundreds of Dutch-origin items on its shelves with red stickers to help buyers identify and avoid them, urging customers to vote with their wallets in protest.
“We feel that as Muslims we must do something,” Managing Director Ameer Ali Mydin told Reuters, adding that products ranging from electrical appliances to baby food now carry the telltale sticker in his network of 40 stores across Malaysia.
Mydin, which buys up to 60 million ringgit ($19 million) worth of products each year from companies with ties to the Netherlands, has also put up posters near store checkout points to urge customers to boycott the items.
Milk producer Dutch Lady, which says it has been operating in Malaysia for more than 50 years, took out full-page advertisements in newspapers on Wednesday to denounce the film, and condemned the comments and statements in it.
“We respect all cultures, beliefs and values and strongly condemn this expression against Islam,” it added.
Surreal. Imagine Borden deploying Elsie the Cow to denounce a movie in a full-page ad.

Dutch Lady condemns this expression of Islam by the film Fitna. No condemn the acts of violence that is perpetrated by the jihadis. Condemn the hatred against non Muslims in Malaysia and Indonesia. Condemn the second class status of non Muslims in Malaysia.

Islam is nothing but banning of any intellectual material.
With minds clogged with nothing useful, muslilms will make shrill calls to jihad, the only way left to enjoy the hard gotten wealth of others.
We must get rid of this self perpetuating poverty promoting system.
What about banning the koran itself, since it also demeans others ?
In fact, the khutba, which is an integral part of the muslim prayer namaz, contains most pejoritive expressions about non-muslims. A muslim's prayer is incomplete without reading the khutba. And the khutba is said to be pleasing to Allah !
If such things are allowed to muslims (and that too, as prayer) then Fitna can be allowed to non-muslims.
If muslims keep insisting on banning our freedom of expression, then why not try reciprocal banning of the muslim scriptures which anyway disparage others ?

Hello all, This is actually not new in malaysian history.
Action plan:
1. Label all Malaysian & Indonesian Products in your country.
2. Label them as "Jihadist Product" in Red.
3. Place Large banners Do not support Jihadist countries and products.
Is it fair to blame all the dutch product because of 1 man: no.
Is it fair to blame a country that tries to ban a country: yes.
And please keep this in mind, Tun Mahathir used this strategy on British Universities some time ago, the british cave in.
and looks like Dutch lady is caving in too.
Will the rest of europe do the same?

Fitna is still up at youtube. I'm watching it right now. I'm at the part where the squeaky voiceed, out of control imam pulls out a sword, talking about cutting throats.
Some religion. This is what CAIR wants to promote and protect. CAIR must be shut down. CAIR, the Muslim Brotherhood, MPAC, and the imams in mosques that sit on American soil.

the last timea Muslim country tried to ban you tube
they managed to shut down the entire network that you tube runs on so that should get very interesting it's interesting how none of the Muslim countries are condemning terrorism shown in the film but then to Muslims there are no innocents being killed just infidels because immature Muslims which is most of them consider most of us in the West who are not Muslims to be innocent and let's face it Muslims are not very good at self criticism or looking at the truth about what their brothers do

If Fitna is wrong, then why ban it? I think the Imams don't want the common Muslim to start asking common sense questions. Islam is cult like in this respect.

It's clear that many more revealing films like Fitna should be made since Fitna is clearly having some positive effect against the Islamic scourge - otherhwise the clerics would not be so bothered by it.

It's disappointing that this essay from Western Resistance, which is written to put the quotes from Fitna in context and to excuse the imans stating that this only applies to times of war, doesn't seem to understand that we are all in Dar-al-Harb. The Land of War.

The cleric says: "What makes Allah happy? Allah is happy when non-Muslims get killed." Another cleric is shown, who says: "Annihilate the infidels and the polytheists. Your enemies and the enemies of the religion. Allah, count them and kill them and kill them to the last one, and don't leave even one."
I am not going to list every scene from the movie. What I find frustrating about the presentation is the way that images appear that are shocking and disturbing, but no details are given. The fanatical preachers are not named, nor are dates and locations given for their speeches. The video treats the victims of Islamist horror as props, rather than people. At one stage, a beheading is shown (though the actual decapitation is not depicted). The figure who is shown kneeling in an orange suit as a knife is taken to his throat, whose bloody head is then displayed being held aloft, is a person. To not give details of that person (it is either Eugene "Jack" McCarthy or Ken Bigley) seems remiss and dehumanizes the individual as much as Zarqawi's thugs who butcher him like an animal.
Five significant quotes from the Koran appear in the movie. The first (Surah 8: 60) has been mentioned already. Surah 8 (Al-Anfal, the Spoils of War) specifically deals with Mohammed raiding a caravan on its way back to Mecca. The caravan was led by Abu Sufyan, who was an enemy of Mohammed. The raid led to a battle, the Battle of Badr, in which the Muslims prevailed. Abu Sufyan survived. The quote refers to a "wartime" situation rather than a time of peace. According to scholar Mohammad Al-Hayek, the verse is meant "to urge Muslim governments to be militarily strong in order to intimidate its enemies. Building up power is meant to serve as a deterrent to those wanting to attack Muslims."
Another quote in the Fitna movie comes from Surah 4: 34: "Those who have disbelieved our signs, we shall roast them in fire whenever their skins are cooked to a turn, we shall substitute new skins for them that they may feel the punishment: verily Allah is sublime and wise." In this Surah (An-Nisa, the Women) the burning of skin refers to the bodies of sinners in the afterlife. This is followed by a clip of a fanatical preacher stating: "If Allah permits us, oh Nation of Mohammed, Even the stone will say, 'Oh Muslim, a Jew is hiding behind me, come and cut off his head. And we shall cut off his head."
The preacher then draws a sword from its scabbard. "By Allah, we shall cut it off! Oh Jews! Allahu Akbar...Jihad for the sake of Allah". The cleric is referring to a Hadith repeated by Imam Muslim (Book 41, Number 6981) and Bukhari (Vol 4, Bk 56, No. 791). Even though the Hadith is anti-Semitic, it refers to events in the days immediately before the "Last Hour", the Day of Judgment.
Surah 47, Verse 4 features in the movie. This reads: "Therefore, when ye meet the unbelievers, smite at their necks and when ye have caused a bloodbath among them, bring a bond firmly on them." Again this verse refers to actions in time of war.
Surah 4, Verse 89 is quoted, which reads: "They but wish that ye should reject faith as they do, and thus be on the same footing as they, so take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah." This refers to the Battle of Uhud in the third year of the Hijrah (625 AD) in which many Muslims were killed when they fought against forces from Mecca who were led by Abu Sufyan. According to Mohammad Al-Hayek, the "friends" were part-time allies who ended up betraying Mohammed's Muslim warriors. Mohammed Marmaduke Pickthall refers to these traitors as "Hypocrites" or "lukewarm Muslims."
Surah 8, Verse 39 reads: "Fight them until there is no dissension and the religion is entirely Allah's". This refers to the Battle of Badr which took place between the early Muslims and the inhabitants of Mecca, a year before the Battle of Uhud. Eventually Abu Sufyan, who opposed Mohammed, would become a convert to Islam.
Geert Wilders does not mention the specific context of the quotes he gives. However, even when the historical context of these quotes is clarified, they still refer to war and acts of war.

The indonesian is starting the censorship movement to various sites just by a letter from Minister of Communication and Information (a department just like the one in the communist country).
Most of indonesian ISP are trying to obey this instruction and this is what I get from one of the ISP:

I just had an epiphany.
Islam is the new "1984".
There are no more crimes except for thoughtcrime. Muhammad is the new Big Brother and the 2 minutes hate is now practiced 5 times daily.
Non-muslims are the new proles, muslims are the new lower party and the imams and sheiks are the new upper party.
