Garden gnome, Evil: $29.95. Zebibah extra.
There was no apparent discussion of who, exactly, qualifies as innocent in Zawahri's mind. He also accused Western troops of using Muslims as human shields -- actually a known tactic of jihadists themselves. For that matter, that attempt to deflect the focus from Al-Qaeda's record doesn't explain the civilians killed by suicide bombings in crowded markets, hijacked jetliners' flying into office buildings, bombing commuter busses and trains, tourists in Bali, embassy workers in Kenya and Tanzania, and so on.
"Al-Qaida No. 2 vows group will attack Jews across world," from the Jerusalem Post and Associated Press:
Al-Qaida No. 2 Ayman al-Zawahri pledged Wednesday night that the group would attack Jews in Israel and throughout the world.
In an hour-and-a half-long audio response to questions submitted to the movement on extremist Web sites, Zawahri said: "We promise our Muslim brothers that we will do the best we can to harm Jews in Israel and the world over, with Allah's help and according to his command," he said.
Zawahri reassured many of the questioners, who seemed worried about the direction of the organization, that the global jihad was on track and would soon expand elsewhere.
"I expect the Jihadi influence to spread after the Americans' exit from Iraq, and to move towards Jerusalem," he said to those asking when attacks on Israel would take place.
Zawahri also slammed the UN for "assisting the establishment of Israel," calling the organization an "enemy of Islam."
The audio message, which was accompanied by a 46-page English transcript, was the first installment of answers to a raft of online questions and focused mainly on future al-Qaida efforts elsewhere in the region, particularly Egypt.
Zawahri responded to criticism about Al-Qaida's notoriously brutal tactics, maintaining that it does not kill innocents. "We haven't killed the innocents, not in Baghdad nor in Morocco, nor in Algeria, nor anywhere else," he said according to the English transcript which, like the audio message, appeared on Web sites linked to the group.
The answer was in response to the question "excuse me, Mr. Zawahri, but who is it who is killing with Your Excellency's blessing the innocents in Baghdad, Morocco and Algeria?"
Al-Qaida has taken credit for the destruction of the World Trade Center which killed nearly 3,000 people in New York City in 2001, while its affiliates in Iraq, Afghanistan and Algeria regularly set off explosives in crowded urban areas that have taken thousands of lives.
"If there is any innocent who was killed in the Mujahideen's operations, then it was either an unintentional error or out of necessity," Zawahri added.
He went on to say that it was their opponents who killed innocents and also noted that "the enemy intentionally takes up positions in the midst of the Muslims for them to be human shields for him."
He also predicted the end of the Saudi state, which is "swimming against the tide of history" and the government of his native Egypt, which he called a "corrupt, rotten regime (that) cannot possibly continue."
Many of the questions he chose to answer focused on restarting the jihad in Egypt, which Zawahri himself helped begin and was crushed by the government in the 1990s.
"The days will reveal to you what you didn't know, and news will come to you from those who didn't have it," he said quoting an old Arabic proverb, about when the jihad would begin again in Egypt, and counseled patience.
Egypt's plainclothes State Security officers and uniformed police were declared "permissible to kill" in the struggle for Egypt and he hinted that he had supporters in the Egyptian army, like the man who assassinated former Egyptian President Anwar Sadat in 1981.

The Saudi state is "swimming against the tide of history"
Ayman al-Zawahiri.
Well, he does have that right, except he has the direction of the current in the tide of history flowing exactly backwards. The monarchies created by the British from the desert tribes of the Middle East after World War I are wholly artificial creations. The very concept of monarchism violates the underlying tenets of Islam, so in this Zawahiri's sentiments are theologically sound. But neither monarchies nor theologically based governments would appear to be viable over the long term in the modern world, and in Saudi Arabia you have both combined into one.
Saudi Arabia is an historical anachronism, and eventually it will surely collapse. But because of its oil revenues and special position as the keeper of the two holy cities in Islam it will probably be the last of the Islamic states to go (unless events transpire to help history along), and things could get pretty ugly when it does collapse.
One of the problems the West has is to keep AQ and Zawahiri from making good on their threats to foment an Islamic revolution that would transform SA from the sneaky, behind-the-scenes enemy that it currently is, to an outright and implacable Taliban-like foe with control of the oil.
BTW, isn't the bruise on AZ's head from banging his head on the ground during his prayers? I've noticed this on quite a few of the Muslim fanatics with pics/videos posted to the web. It appears this bruise is considered a mark of religious piety. Seriously, these guys should consult a doctor to test for possible brain injury.

I would like to amend my previous comment...I withdraw the respectful title of "Doctor" and replace it with "Witch Doctor". The former term indicating someone who has dedicated their life to alleviating the suffering of mankind, using stringent scientific method, and the latter indicating an irrational, unscientific approach, which may actually cause more harm than good and induce unnatural, illogical fears or idealogy.
Also, I would like to retract the noun "woman", indicating a caring member of the human race, a life bringer, a nuturer, a creature of beauty.
This liar of a witch doctor first states that no innocents have been killed, then seconds later, admits that, in fact, innocents have been killed.
I hope there is a Predator Drone dedicated to him.

"It may sometimes look like a painful wound, but in Egypt it is worn proudly, the way American professionals in the 1980s felt good about the dark circles under their eyes as a sign of long work hours and little sleep."
-- from The Times, quoted in a posting above, an attempt to render the outward and visible sign of Muslim piety and, frequently, Muslim fanaticism, in terms both familiar and acceptable to non-Muslims.
Yes, there's hardly any difference between the "zebibah" sported by Al-Zawhiri and those bags-under-the-eyes that hard-working Westerners supposedly, in the highly imaginative retelling by the Times, were flaunted by "American professionals in the 1980s" who "felt good" about the "dark circles under their eyes."
No need for the busy, busy, shrinking Times, to spot the difference in meaning, and potential menace, between Western workaholics, and Muslim prayaholics

Zawahri also slammed the UN for "assisting the establishment of Israel," calling the organization an "enemy of Islam."
One of the few things the UN has done right in its history was establish the State of Israel.
If the UN is an "enemy of Islam", then maybe we should think twice before rejecting the UN.
Seriously, how comical will this get? The muslims basically own the UN, sitting on human rights commissions, passing resolutions at will, throwing their weight around. And they have more power now than they've ever had before.
Yup, that convinces me. They're an enemy of Islam.

Yeah, I guess you're right. In the midst of a war, it's definitely wrong for us to take up positions in the midst of our enemies. Simply by entering the battlefield, we are causing muslims to be human shields.

What explains Zawahri's nasty looking teeth?
A Google search of "Mohammad and oral hygiene" turned up this site, where you can read:
The most widely used tree twigs (toothbrushes) since early times is the ..Siwak" or ..Miswak." The stick is obtained from a plant called Salvadore Persica that grows around Mecca and the Middle East area in general. It is widely used among Muslims after Prophet Mohammed ( pbuh ) realised its value as a device which should be used by Muslims to clean their teeth. In this respect our Prophet ( pbuh ) is considered the first dental educator in proper oral hygiene.
Could it be that Dr. Zebibah Head has been so busy praying that he has forgotten to brush his teeth?? Be that as it may, nothing can help his oral diarrhea...
Question of the day: Did Mohammad floss?

I am the new Abraham.
God directed Abraham to sacrifice his son, he had only one son, Isaac. Ishmael, the father of the Arabs had been sent into exile praise be to Allah. And then God, excuse me, Allah allowed Abraham to sacrifice an animal instead of his son. A mistake Allah will never live down. For if Isaac had been slaughtered instead of one of Ishmael‘s goats, we would not be facing the Jews today.
I, being the son of Ishmael, a true follower of Islam claim the right to succession to Abraham. I have sacrificed more sons of Islam than Abraham ever thought of. I have directed many, many more sons of Ishmael to the alter of shahada for Allah than any other prophet.
Khomeini may think he leads in the number of those sacrificed, but those of us in the correct mind of Islam, know most of his were only children with Chinese made plastic keys to heaven, not true mujhideen. All of mine, with the exception of a few women and children caught up in the mêlée, were adult males, practicing Muslims all, true majhadine, and they now reside in heaven with their virgins. It gives me great honor to announce that I now lead in the number of sacrificed in the name of Allah . I will continue in my jihad, I will continue the slaughter of the infidel where ever I find him, I have a thousand, thousand sons of Ishmael yet to be shahid. In communication with angel Gabriel, heaven at this time is running low on virgins, and we are now looking for volunteers.
As for the killing of those innocent of any crime. They were sacrificed to Allah, for Allah only recognizes a blood sacrifice. And these innocents killed in his name atone for him being called a moon god. And my brothers, when we have reached final victory, we will replace the Egyptian and Saudi governments with a true theocratic regime just like Iran with me in charge. You can put that in your hookah and smoke it.
And, my sons, do not be deceived by the cap on my weapon, it is only there to deceive the infidels into thinking it is a toy and to believing I am a man of peace.

Zawahri responded to criticism about Al-Qaida's notoriously brutal tactics, maintaining that it does not kill innocents. "We haven't killed the innocents,
we have to remember to these Muslims because we have not accepted their cult's moon god allha we are not innocent so technically this statement is correct they've only killed Jews and other infidels
Imam Abdul Makin in an East London mosque asks why Allah would tell Muslims to kill and rape innocent non-Muslims, including their wives and daughters, according to Islam Watch.
"Because non-Muslims are never innocent, they are guilty of denying Allah and his prophet," the Imam says, according to the report. "If you don't believe me, here is the legal authority, the top Muslim lawyer of Britain."
The lawyer, Anjem Choudary, backs up the Imam's position, saying that all Muslims are innocent.
.
"You are innocent if you are a Muslim," Choudary tells the BBC. "Then you are innocent in the eyes of God. If you are not a Muslim, then you are guilty of not believing in God."
Choudary said he would not condemn a Muslim for any action.
"As a Muslim, I must support my Muslim brothers and sisters," Choudary said. "I must have hatred to everything that is not Muslim."

In Islamic history, the scholars ruled it is permissible for Muslims to kill other Muslims who are being used as “human shields” by the enemy. Today, many Muslims serve as willing or unwilling shields for apostate regimes and foreign occupiers.
Secular regimes and even nominally religious ones subordinate themselves to Western powers to maintain their thrones, violating the precept “don’t take the Jews and Christians as your guardians.”

As regards human shields and humanitarian needs, etc - all of which we hear the Poor Palestinians endlessly howling about, with relation to Israel's alleged 'siege' of Gaza:
In Bostom's 'Legacy of Jihad' I found certain illuminating passages from Muslim jihad theorist Al-Mawardi (d.1058):
“If they [non-Muslims] use their women and children as shields in battle, then one must avoid killing them and aim only at killing the men” [my note: sounds nice on the face of it - but, after all, Infidel women and children represent future 'booty', a source of both pleasure and profit; if killed they can be neither raped nor sold as slaves].
So far so good, but: “If, however, it is impossible to kill them [i.e. Infidel soldiers] except by killing the women and children, then it is permitted.”
Al-Mawardi also says cutting off water to the [Infidel] enemy is allowed - “even if there are women and children amongst them”. From Al-Mawardi ‘Laws of Islamic Governance’, Yate transln, pp. 78 & 201.
So. One has to conclude, therefore, that were the positions of, say, the Israelis and 'Palestinian' Arabs reversed Hamas, being traditionalist Muslim to the bootstraps and therefore guided by theorists such as Al-Mawardi, would have unblinkingly butchered any Jewish women and children silly enough to try to act as 'human shields', and all supplies of power, water, medicine and food would have been cut off long ago.
I took care to 'seed' the Jerusalem Post talkbacks, a few weeks ago, and selected blogs, with this highly illuminating Al-Mawardi passage, in order to expose as best I could the disgusting hypocrisy of the 'Poor Palestinians' and their Useful Idiot cheer squads.
