Binghamton, NY: "Islamberg" to hold parade in honor of Muhammad's birthday

Everyone loves a parade. And if you don't, you're an Islamophobe... and quite possibly a parade-o-phobe too.

"Main street parade to honor Muhammad," from World Net Daily:

Muslim leaders at an encampment at the Catskill Mountains called "Islamberg" have been granted a permit by the city of Binghamton, N.Y., to hold a parade on Saturday in honor of Muhammad's birthday.
The holiday is called Milad-un-Nabi and is being celebrated by a group of families who live at the nearby property owned by Muslims of the Americas, Inc.
The city has the parade scheduled on its calendar from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the downtown area, including its main street, and a report in the local Press & Sun-Bulletin said the celebration previously held on the group's own property this year is being expanded.
"We're trying to do an interfaith thing, we're reach out to the community to do a program based on unity," Maryam Rahim, a spokeswoman, told the newspaper. "We haven't been very well known …. We want everyone to come out and celebrate, may ask questions." [...]
Rahim told the paper some Muslims claim the celebration is not important, but others classify it alongside Eid-ul-Fitr, the celebration that concludes the month of Ramadan for Muslims.
The newspaper said Muslims of the Americas was formed in the 1980s when several families migrated from New York City to make a new start. There now is a mosque and a private school on the land.
However, there are others who describe the location as a training facility for the Pakistani terrorist group Jamaat ul Fuqra.
As WND reported earlier, a covert visit to the encampment found neighboring residents deeply concerned about military-style training taking place there but frustrated by the lack of attention from federal authorities. The visit was conducted by the Northeast Intelligence Network, which worked with an Internet blogger, "CP," to publish an report.
The neighbors interviewed, who asked not to be identified, said in the report compiled only two years ago they feared retaliation if they were to make a report to law enforcement officials.
"We see children – small children run around over there when they should be in school," one neighbor said. "We hear bursts of gunfire all of the time, and we know that there is military-like training going on there. Those people are armed and dangerous."
The resident said his household gets "nothing but menacing looks from the people who go in and out of the camp, and sometimes they yell at us to mind our own business when we are just driving by."
"We don't even dare to slow down when we drive by," the resident said. "They own this mountain and they know it, and there is nothing we can do about it but move, and we can't even do that. Who wants to buy property next to that?"
Jamaat ul-Fuqra, or "community of the impoverished," was formed by Pakistani cleric Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani in New York in 1980. Gilani, who refers to himself as "the sixth Sultan Ul Faqr," has stated his objective is to "purify" Islam through violence. [...]
Try to walk down the street where their community (Islamberg) is and you will be greeted by a man armed with a rifle. I have witnessed this on more than one occasion (even prior to 9/11) on Roods Creek Rd. when passing by slowly as I headed out to the Cannonsville reservoir," said a nearby resident who also asked for anonymity.
Fox News earlier reported that the compound has remained shrouded in mystery and fear, partly because it sits near the huge reservoir system that provides New York City with most of its drinking water.
The report said New York State police authorities confirmed they've had the group on file for years.
The compound is on 70 acres of remote land and residents have expressed concern for the gunshots they hear.
"They are training for war, either for war here in this country or against our troops," said one neighbor.

Read it all.

I find parades boring - Islamic or not. Not that that would stop me from my Islamophobia.

"Muslims of the Americas"

What a contradiction in terms. America represents 'freedom', while Muslims do not; and when I think of our blood bought freedom and how Muslims want to take that away from us I feel angry. They don't deserve to use the word America in connection with being Muslim. No way.

Umm. Yeah.

Deposit, NY to Binghamton, NY is a 30+ mile trip, one way. They are not immediate neighbors. This isn't about reaching out to the local community, unless Jamaat al-Fuqra has metastasized into Binghamton itself. It is dawa: propaganda and proselytization.

Hitler and Mohammad share the same birthday, April 20. Is that symbolic or what?

Mo was born April 20, 570 CE. The next year it was on April 9, 571 CE then March 30, etc., because Muslims are observing it based on their so-called "Islamic year," which is 12 lunar months, or 354 days, yielding only a crude approximation of a year.

For the record, a true year is defined as the time it takes the Earth to go around the Sun. Everything else is just an attempt to estimate this.

Curious indeed.

The FBI and ATF as well as some military personnel had no problem killing Koresh and his followers in Waco.

As I recall, women and children burned up alive in the military assult there but that did not stop these agencies for a second.

Then, there was Ruby Ridge where our fearless agents shot an unarmed child and his mother in the back if I recall correctly.

Why did these things happen? Because at the time they were considered "radical militia seperatists."

The point here is that these agencies had no problem killing these people, who in my mind -- may have been a little goofy, but were clearly not as dangerous as these group seems to be.

In this case, they do nothing and will go so far as to allow them to stage parades in the name of multiculturalism and tolerence.

So, why didn't they let the Davidians and Koresh called his group, have a parade down the streets of Waco to celebrate his birthday since he like Mo claimed to be some kind of religious whatever they are supposed to be?

Perhaps, it all comes down to Saudi cash in the end.

Re Max Publius: I confirm, from what I've read, the shared birthdays of Mo and Heil, also Daniel Day-Lewis and my wife! There is no song of celebration for all.

One of the big challenges is indoctrination or brain washing and that is what seems to be going on at Islamaberg. Is there no law contra the incalcation of mass hate?

In the spirit of their so-called "interfaith" celebration, perhaps we could design a float with Mo holding a sword and bobbing up and down while he decapitates an infidel?

The float can have a sign that reads "From your friends at JihadWatch.org" .

And shouldn't we really be calling it "intrafaith" as opposed to "interfaith" worship - especially when it comes to islam?

Aren't there state truancy laws to be followed? Who is monitoring these laws and these children to make sure they are getting the state required level of schooling? Recent case decision in Ca. even struck down home-schooling for percieved inadequacies? Does anyone from the NY State Dept. of Ed. dare enter the hollowed grounds of Islamberg?

What about food preparation and health law requirements? Does anyone seriously doubt these folks are slaughtering animals to meet halal requirements? Perahps some rules can be relaxed for home consumption regarding slaughtering, but does anyone doubt the slaughtering is going on for the benefit of the entire community? If so, then the issue becomes a public health matter. Does anyone from the NY Dept of Agriculture or the local health department dare enter these grounds, unannounced perhaps, and take a look at these processes? How about with a video camara?

I understand there is a grocery store on the premises. Are sales taxes being charged and paid to the state of NY? Dare a tax official enter and examine this operation?

Speaking of taxes... are the entire grounds of Islamberg exempt from property tax? What are the requirements for a religious group to maintain that status and are they in compliance? Any guesses JW readers?

Many more ideas come to mind (building inspections for new construction, plumbing inspectors, health inspectors...) These inspectors need no probable cause. They should be able to enter these grounds unannounced but for reasons related to the purpose of the inspection.
What would they uncover in a surprise visit?

How about some intrepid sleauths discreetly placing a video cam on a public utility poll near the entrance(s)( not the interior of the compound- privacy issues there- an ingress/egress point is a public area) of Islamberg to monitor the comings and goings of inhabitants and visitors?

As I also recall the local FBI has been to this compound (or was it it the York SC site??) ...for purposes related to further "community outreach" by sttending a picnic and establishing "dialog". I wouldn't count on the FBI having a single clue about the possible intentions of this group. It is unlike even a secret dossier is being prepared "just in case". After all, Islam, being such a peaceful religion, according to our CIC and FBI Director, what could possibly be the harm in such a compound?

A great many things that can be done to monitor Islamberg the other muslim compounds that aren't even considered.

People living in the adjacent areas to these compounds ought to be able to ask the questions posed above to their officials without fear or intimidation.

Similar thoughts have appeared on this site by Robert or Hugh, but this letter is from someone that lived through it. I have sent this letter to over 200 people in my address book. This is the message that needs to be received by everyone. I urge you all to do the same.

A German's point of view on Islam. (By Dr. Emanual Tanay, a well known and well respected psychiatrist.)

A man whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War ll owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism.

'Very few people were true Nazis 'he said,' but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it,they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories.'

We are told again and again by 'experts' and 'talking heads' that Islam is the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectra of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam. The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history.

It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. The hard quantifiable fact is that the 'peaceful majority', the 'silent majority', is cowed and extraneous.

Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China's huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.

The average Japanese individual prior to World War ll was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way acrossSouth East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet.

And, who can forget Rwanda, which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were 'peace loving'?

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:

Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence. Peace-loving Muslims
will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because like my friend from Germany, they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun. Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghanis, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.

As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts; the fanatics who threaten our way of life.

Lastly, at the risk of offending, anyone who doubts that the issue is serious and just deletes this email without sending it on, is contributing to the passiveness that allows the problems to expand. So, extend yourself a bit and send this on and on and on! Let us hope that thousands world wide, read this -think about it - and send it on.

I wonder how many of the residents have called the FBI?! Every single one of them should be phoning - daily - until something is done. Even send them in articles because they can also email. Send them articles of what islam is, what they do in the middle east as far as training for jihadists. Train the FBI in the tactics of islam. Oh, you think that maybe I think the FBI is stupid? YEP!

They not only get 'muslim tolerance' training - they get it FROM muslims. They get it from the start - to their trainees in Quantico. Talk about taqiyya/kithman and the stoooopids that are our own!

Usorthem...Tax status of religions and religious organizations. They are tax exempt, including property taxes. Even the grocery store on the property is tax exempt, if owned and operated by the religion.
The requirements to receive a tax exemption are not that rigid. Does the applicant recruit, produce literature, have regular meetings, a board of directors with five members? To start a religion in the US requires no ones permission. You only need permission if you want tax exemption. Islam has that. In order to get that revoked, Islams status would have to change from religious to political. Even then it could still be tax exempt, but a regular non profit exemption is no where near as generous as religious exemption. The tax exempt status does not protect, or exempt, them from other laws...

I remember when the Neo-Nazi's were going to parade specifically to show the Jews in America who was boss when I was a kid. The outcry was massive, people wanted to shut them down. I have to say, letting them march was a brilliant idea as the counter march was massive and basically shut down the entire Neo-Nazi movement not only from gaining more ground but also taking from them the ground they had. Let Freedom ring! Let them parade! It only lets more information out there and people will see what they are truly about Sharia. Freedom is the way to stop the Islamic movement. If you make a Counter Parade, people will side with you!!!!!!!!

Good question, Scorpius. Ms. Rahim is being just a bit disingenous--some Muslims don't just regard the holiday as "not important", but actually blasphemous.

Celebrating Milad (or Mawlid) is actually banned in Saudi Arabia--what a surprise. Some Islamic "scholars" note that Muhammed and his companions did not celebrate his birthday, and so regard it as a haram "innovation".

The Muslim Brotherhood, however, is all for it, as are assorted Sufi "scholars". They cite hadith where Muhammad recommended fasting on Mondays as that was the day he was born and also the day prophecy decended on him.

Milad is celebrated fairly widely in Egypt, Sudan and India, and not at all in some other Muslim countries. By the way, they are not actually celebrating Mo's birthday. Born into an illiterate family in dark ages Arabia, no one kept track of such things. They are actually celebrating his death, which has become conflated with his birthday.

As usual, the Sunnis and Shi'ites disagree here,also--the Sunnis celebrated Milad on March 31 this year, the Shi'ites on April 5.

As for the claim that Islamberg is doing a big interfaith outreach celebration for their neighbors, I consider this unlikely, even in the interest of taqiyya and da'wa. So far, Islamberg has tended to meet the friendliness and curiousity of their infidel neighbors with scowls and armed guards.

It will probably seem more like an invasion than a celebration.

Several police and state agencies are involved in the raid which began Thursday night, including Texas child protection service workers. Witnesses say an armored personnel carrier vehicle is also involved.

There are no reports of any violence or injuries, and it is not clear what law enforcement officials are after. FLDS members have been known to keep weapons with them, and have vowed in the past to defend themselves, and no immediate threats have been recently reported.

Being a native Son of the South, and familiar with the parade of all parades, Mardi Gras, some questions come to mind:

Will the Krewe Of Islam throw beads and medallions in tomorrow's scheduled parade?

Is there a moslem parallel to the King Cake? Perhaps it can be called a 'prophet cake', and the person who finds the baby mohammed hidden inside has to go blow up some infidels.

If you yell out "Show us your t--s!!!" to the women, will they lift up their burkas? Kinda' scarey to think about that happening...

The entire "Islamberg" community idea has concerned me since I first heard about it. I don't see anything good coming from it.
Yes yes...I can recall in both news stories and in later testimony before congress about both the Ruby Ridge and Waco "incidents" that one of the prime reasons voiced for storming the places was overwhelming concern for the children trapped inside. I also recall that when it was all said and done, the list of the dead from Waco contained quite a high percentage of children toddler age and younger.

I hope some Jihadwatchers are present for the parade tomorrow and can post some good pictures! If you undertake such a task, may the Lord bless you and keep you safe.

Yes, why did they kill the people of Ruby Ridge and Waco, TX, but leave these savages alone? I guess our government really is wholly owned by the House of Saud.

Posted by: PRCalDude [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 5, 2008 1:22 AM

By now, of course, the parade will have been held. I wonder if there are any jihadwatchers in Binghamton?

If such events are held in future, in Binghampton or in other places around the USA, I think two of the 'direct action' ideas mooted here - a massive counter-parade, a 'Kuffarmobile' float - sound great.

Others: just as the parade gets going, release, nearby, thousands of bright green helium balloons, each with Westergaard's masterly Turbanbomb caricature copied onto it (the one I've mentally dubbed 'Mohammed ha-Meshugga' - kudos to Maimonides for an expert diagnosis). Alternatively, have conventional balloons, featuring the same design, blown up but not fastened: as the parade passes, release so that they whiz about overhead making vulgar noises while deflating.

Plant TV screens in windows of shops the parade is going to pass, showing "Fitna" and "Obsession" and "What the West Needs to Know" and "Submission" on a continous loop.

Pass round the hat and hire a skywriter - "Fitna!" "Lan Astaslem!" "Long Live Wilders".

Local pigfarmers - large livestock truck or trucks experience mysterious breakdown in street nearest to parade route, 'accidentally on purpose' several hundred pigs escape, farmers try to round up pigs, Krazy Antics ensue and herds of scampering, squealing, excreting pigs gatecrash the parade.

Skywriting of course could be done at any time. Imagine if the 'Islambergers' pop out of their holes one fine day and look up and see 'Jews 4 Eva' and 'Lan Astaslem' written in the sky above their lair?

Don't forget. There is one of these compounds just outside of Atlanta, GA.

Dumbledoresarmy, the parade is going on as I write, I think.

My mother lives in Binghamton. I e-mailed her an article on this yesterday; got a lukewarm response. When will Americans get it, that Islam is not a "religion", but rather a totalitarian belief-system?

Such indifference drives me crazy, because we will all pay the price for it.

P.S. Nice interlude there, Hugh. I loved that a goat got to sing "I love a parade"!
