UK jihadist hoped to strike nuclear plants

"The horizon of Sarwar's terrorist ambition, we say, was limitless..." Feel the love.

"Islamist Hoped to Strike Nuclear Plants," by David Stringer for Associated Press (thanks to Twostellas):

LONDON (AP) - A man accused of plotting to down trans-Atlantic airliners was also developing plans to cripple nuclear power stations, a European gas pipeline and Britain's electricity grid, a prosecutor told a court Friday.

Assad Sarwar, 27, a British Muslim with ties to Islamic radicals in Pakistan, also wanted to destroy the main exchange for Britain's Internet service providers and target an airport control tower, prosecutor Peter Wright said.

Wright said Sarwar decided not to join the seven other defendants in carrying out their planned suicide mission to blow up at least seven flights to the United States and Canada.

"On the evidence you may conclude he had other terrestrial targets in mind as well," he said.

All eight defendants have denied the charges.

Sarwar compiled detailed information on London's Canary Wharf finance district, a Belgium-Britain gas pipeline, Britain's electricity grid and oil refineries for possible attacks, Wright said.

He also stored information about an air traffic control tower at London's Heathrow airport on a computer memory stick.

"The horizon of Sarwar's terrorist ambition, we say, was limitless," Wright said....

Limitless involves establishing an Islamic state in Britain and forcing non-Muslims to either convert to Islam, pay a jizya or be killed.

I expect the judge to throw the book at them if they are found guilty. He might get 11 months and 29 days.

Is my cynicism showing?

Posted by: Pelayo [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 5, 2008 6:55 PM

My money is on a slap on the wrist if found guilty.
After all, they are on trial in Londonistan.
No point in getting the general populace riled up.

"All eight defendants have denied the charges."

And this is after copies of their jihadi martyr videos were shown to the court??? I hope they have enough sense to actually prosecute these maniacs. I mean mis-understanders.

Well the girl with the airside pass to Heathrow got off because she convinced everyone she was only a "lyrical" terrorist.

I'd like to apologize in advance because this comment is slightly off-topic.

I'm an Indian living in the United States, and am current in the news and current affairs of both India and the west generally and the United States of America in particular.

I'm writing to make the point that west has a very incomplete view of the history and modern effects of Islamic Terrorism. My own country has been a victim of jihadist and islamist terrorism for many years now. The ongoing terrorist movement in Kashmir, covertly and openly supported by Pakistan (an ally in the United States Global war on terror)

India has suffered many many terrorist attacks over the years. Many of these attacks having taken more lives than the terrorist attacks most commonly known in the west.

The bombings of Bombay's Public Trains - almost unknown and never discussed in the western media has taken more lives than the 2005 London bombings.

The terrorist attack on India's parliament is equivalent to an attack on the united states senate, but is again ignored or completely unknown in the west.

Recent news from Central India reports the arrest of chiefs of a muslim terrorist organization - the SIMI who have admitted to plotting terrorist attacks in Bombay, Delhi and recruiting women and children to carry out terrorist attacks.

My point is that Islamic terrorism is not simply something that exploded onto the world stage on Sep 11 2001. Kashmir has been bleeding since 1989, Punjab for many years before that.

Temples in India have been attacked, Public Markets bombed on Diwali (a major hindu festival in india) Public Transportation attacked, army camps attacked and our parliament attacked. These acts stem from the muslim hatred of hindus. The muslim faith rejects and hates hinduism and indian religions because they claim to hate idolatry and polytheism.

the united states support of Pakistan is maddening to Indians, because we know that the greatest broker and supporter of global terrorism is Pakistan. It is probably the only functioning state at the border of the middle east. It has used its banking system and territory to funnel money to terrorist organizations. Allowed terrorist organizations to avail of infrastructure and set up offices and training camps. It has allowed islamic terrorists to seek medical help in it's hospitals.

The west's attitude especially the U.S. and Britain will not change towards until the Muslims make us bleed and badly.

Its the only tonic that will make people wake up.

And sooner or later Islam will get lucky and blow up some buildings, refineries or a nuclear plant. Its just a matter of time.

Thx1138, my son in law's parents are from Mumbai. My daughter, grandson, son in law, and his parents were visiting Mumbai (I still call it Bombay) and left for the US just a day or two after the trains were attacked in 2006. That's as close to terrorism as I ever want any of my family to get.

I hope your family over there remains safe.

So we got Sarwar and his buds. Wonder how many more dedicated Islamonazis are out there getting the next big attack ready? Hundreds? Thousands? And wonder how many of them are already in the USA, coddled and protected by our ridiculous Department of Homeland Security? God forbid that we should infringe on the "rights" of some Muslim that wants us all dead ("Most un-PC!").

Islamic terrorism in India

I'll bet you Indians are really angry that you gave a whole bunch of land to the muslims (i.e. Pakistan), and yet they are never satisfied; they want all of Kashmir.

I suspect you're being modest when you say how many years that the muslims have been terrorizing India. I'll bet it's more like 1000 years.

We must all stand together against these monsters.

I used to think that Americans were the ones who were different than everyone else; but now I know that it is the muslims who are different. They have no soul, no conscience, no mercy.

Posted by: PersonOfTheBook [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 5, 2008 8:18 PM

Why aren't we at war with Pakistan.
Or any Muslim country that allows it's institutions to be used to attack us.
We could stop this overnight, if we wanted. We wouldn't even have to be that cruel.
What we have to be is firm.

You mean that as long as tyhe sentence is under year those poor dears can't be extradited to Najistan?

The liberal judges in Germany have been adjusting sentences so as not to open up moslem criminals to deportation.

sometimes in direct violation of sentencing guidelines.

But who's there to redirect this when it goes all the way up to the Supreme Court.

I was reading that they want to put a former communist - Red Heidi - on the currently empty seat on that very Court.

Unbelievable. Not only is she a member of the extreme Left an dhas been since 1968 but she also knows nothing about the Law and is of average intelligence at best.

I have a feeling the courts in England are stacked with similar moonbats.

We've got at least 20 more years of this unil these freaks all die off.. but they're busy recruiting new cadres in the colleges they all teach at.

See Ward Churchill, Prof. "Kill [the exact word he used was exterminate] Whitey" Kambon and Edward Said.. the schools as we all know are filled to the gills with overpaid tenured moonbats.

Meanwhile islam is having a field day.

"Wright said Sarwar decided not to join the seven other defendants in carrying out their planned suicide mission to blow up at least seven flights to the United States and Canada."

They never do. Let the suckers carry out the "martyrdom" operations.

thx1138:

That wasn't really off topic and the events you have mentioned have been reported on in the west (I'm in Canada). Unfortunately the mainstream media seem to be more concerned with political correctness and "Islamophobia" than really analyzing the situation in India and elsewhere (e.g. Thailand). I wish you good luck.

More muslims showing muslim gratitude. Why do the civilized nations let these muslim animals into our countries?

We must be suicidal.

Funny part is, Americans do little or nothing when their politicians sell them out to anyone with a petro-dollar or a peso. Americans knew Bush has no qualifications/credentials other than being a lucky grandson of Prescot Bush, who sold Americans to Nazis and the son of George Bush who has deep business ties with Saudi Arabia, the father of International Terror. Add to that billions of US dollars (yes, US dollars) by Salim Bin-Laden in Arbusto, extended Bush-Bandar family and CAIR right behind the American President/Commander-in-chief: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/09/20010917-11.html
Even when Wafa Sultan called Bush out : http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=52962 Americans gave him a pass. All it takes are a few lies like 'war on terror' and a corrupt sell-out politician gets a pass. What can Americans expect from their corrupt politicians, but terror?
As for clinton, he did some 'selling-America-out' of his own: http://www.blessedcause.org/proof/Clinton%20Embracing%20Islam%20selling%20out%20children.htm
My point is, as long as Americans reject patriots like Tom Tancredo and elect corrupt, timid sell-out politicians like Bushs and Clintons, Islamic terror and illegal immigration will take over America under their very noses. And from the looks of it, presidential candidates can't wait to sell America out: http://michellemalkin.com/2008/03/31/another-open-borders-zealot-on-a-presidential-candidates-team/
