Congresswoman Myrick's 10-point plan for anti-jihad resistance

Unveiled yesterday. Hats off to Sue Myrick (R-NC)!

From "N.C. congresswoman releases 10-point list to tackle radical Islam threats," by Lisa Zagaroli for the McClatchy Newspapers (thanks to Twostellas):

Here is Myrick's 10-point plan to tackle threats posed by radical elements of Islam:

1. Investigate all military chaplains endorsed by Abdurahman Alamoudi, who was imprisoned for funding a terrorist organization.

2. Investigate all prison chaplains endorsed by Alamoudi.

3. Investigate the selection process of Arabic translators working for the Pentagon and the FBI.

4. Examine the non-profit status of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

5. Make it an act of sedition or solicitation of treason to preach or publish materials that call for the deaths of Americans.

6. Audit sovereign wealth funds in the United States.

7. Cancel scholarship student visa program with Saudi Arabia until they reform their text books, which she claims preach hatred and violence against non-Muslims.

8. Restrict religious visas for imams who come from countries that don't allow reciprocal visits by non-Muslim clergy.

9. Cancel contracts to train Saudi police and security in U.S. counterterrorism tactics.

10. Block the sale of sensitive military munitions to Saudi Arabia.

Well there's one Cabbie in NYC who won't be offering you a ride, Sue Myrick.

A politician with common sense and reason? No really, what's the catch?

Posted by: one of the chosen people [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 19, 2008 12:01 PM

Congresswoman Sue Myrick's plan seem like common sense measures to me. It will be interesting to see who opposes it, and on what grounds.

Why aren't the Republicans running this woman for President instead of the witless McCain? Is it too late to start a third party for the 2008 election?

Posted by: ebonystone [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 19, 2008 12:14 PM

Sue Myrick is virtually alone in her understanding of the threat of the colonists among us.
The 5th column will scream "1st Amendment" as an excuse for traitorous speech.
Calling for murder and the overthrow of our government is not protected speech. I wish our "leaders" would look back to the way our founders viewed America.

"Why aren't the Republicans running this woman for President instead of the witless McCain? Is it too late to start a third party for the 2008 election?"

Indeed.

God Bless Rep. Myrick.

It's a start, but I think she missed one big issue---Muslim immigration---we need to reform our policy on taking so many refugees and other immigrants from Muslim countries.

Posted by: Ann [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 19, 2008 12:24 PM

I'd say her plan's a damn good start but not nearly enough. At least she's breaking the ice and talking about the elephant in the room..

Posted by: Ummah Gummah [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 19, 2008 12:59 PM

I second Ann's comment about immigration and want to take it one step further.

Islam as we all know is the source of all of this trouble. It hides behind the guise of religion. I would be in favor of outlawing it in this country as a social, political and religious entity. Like I have posted many times before. It has more than proven itself unworthy of any legal status because it seeks the over through of this countries form of government. The government of the people have every right to protect and shut down any group, society or philosophy that seeks it's destruction.

She adds conditions on her proposals which in my opinion are a waste of breath. These conditions are not for them (because they will never change) but for political considerations, at most. Mark my words if her ten points and more are not implemented it will be done by someone in time. Including my suggestion.

The longest journey begins with the first step...

This fool, who'd sooner appease the Islamis who want to cut our throats, would likely oppose such measures.

I will be sending all presidential campaign contributions to this brave woman...and sending the "Gringo Peso" to Juan McCainito, Obambi, and Shrillary.

I second the comment about muslim immigration. Great articles JW/DW. Where's Hugh?

Posted by: No More Ham, Ed [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 19, 2008 1:29 PM

Now, that's a Republican I can vote for. Go Congresswoman!

Posted by: antishock8 [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 19, 2008 1:44 PM

Finally a politician who is sane and know how to tackle this very dangerous ideology that is bent of destruction and domination of the free civilized world. We need more leaders like this to really start making the changes to the very sick and distorted way the apologists and appeasers of Islam have been deceiving the public about Islam.

Posted by: savsiv [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 19, 2008 1:45 PM

My kind of Republican

Her proposal should be sent to senators, congressmen, mayors etc,,,,,
Those 10 commandements should be laws.
Aux Armes.....
I am sending this to some half asleep Republicans in the south .
In the midsouth "deep America", when you are on the mailing list of the Republican Party all what you get is a nice request for money.
Action Zero.

Making a call the other day to Marsha Blackburn 's office for help. her assistant, Scott answered this. "oh we deal with washington , we are not involved with Tennessee"

Why did we send that woman to Washington?

Posted by: Tartine [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 19, 2008 2:07 PM

I read about Myrick a few months back.

She may not rank very highly on Capitol Hill, but she's got the right idea with her "Wake Up America" plan.

Posted by: Always On Watch [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 19, 2008 2:17 PM

I think we need a "political hero or heroin of the year in the war on terror" award, and Sue Myrick should get the first. I think it puts the jihadists are in a bind every time a brave person in power speaks out like this. If the EVER succeed in a major terror attack in the US, the American people will know where to look for leadership.

I second the comment about muslim immigration. Great articles JW/DW. Where's Hugh?
Posted by: No More Ham, Ed

Hugh popped in yesterday and just warned a poster that he was getting close to the edge. But there have been no articles in a few days. I hope he is not ill, but just taking a little breather...

Posted by: duh_swami [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 19, 2008 2:36 PM

I bet you Bush can't stand her..

I've been thinking of leaving New York and rather than move to just another liberal place I should consider moving into Sue Myrick's district instead.

Seems like there are intelligent people living there who keep voting her into office.

Much better than Chicago or Minneapolis.

Posted by: Ummah Gummah [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 19, 2008 2:45 PM

Another one:

Keep a tab on all new immigrants to the US. When I was growing up all immigrants had to register with the US government once a year. I remember the commercials reminding them to register before Jan. 31. Does anyone else remember them?

Since we gave up that program, illegal immigration has soared, and terrorists have come into our midsts.

Time to start it back up for one.

Posted by: Mystical Time Traveler [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 19, 2008 2:54 PM

3 cheers for Myrick.

Posted by: joeblough [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 19, 2008 3:09 PM

It would be a start, but too little too late. Let me make some add ons:

1. Investigate all military chaplains endorsed by Abdurahman Alamoudi, who was imprisoned for funding a terrorist organization.
* Better to revoke their visas/ residence permits and ship them out

2. Investigate all prison chaplains endorsed by Alamoudi.
* Same thing

3. Investigate the selection process of Arabic translators working for the Pentagon and the FBI.
* Long overdue: to replace them with Christian Copts or Jews who are loyal to the US would make a hell of a difference

4. Examine the non-profit status of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
* Disbanding this criminal gang is long overdue

5. Make it an act of sedition or solicitation of treason to preach or publish materials that call for the deaths of Americans.
* Are there no existing laws that can be applied?

6. Audit sovereign wealth funds in the United States.
There's a lot more to be audited...

7. Cancel scholarship student visa program with Saudi Arabia until they reform their text books, which she claims preach hatred and violence against non-Muslims.

* "she claims?" Are facts no longer facts because she claims?

8. Restrict religious visas for imams who come from countries that don't allow reciprocal visits by non-Muslim clergy.

* That would make sense, but common sense is rare these days...

9. Cancel contracts to train Saudi police and security in U.S. counterterrorism tactics.

* Overdue...

10. Block the sale of sensitive military munitions to Saudi Arabia.

* Yes, it could be a start...

Finally, another Congressperson with cajones.

Sue Myrick's congressional home page is at http://myrick.house.gov/. She is the former mayor of Charlotte, the capitol city of the State of North Carolina, and has been a member of congress since 1995.

She deserves our support. We need more such strong people in Congress.

Posted by: Eastview [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 19, 2008 3:35 PM

God bless her and protect her!

Every single one of you who is American, write to her AT ONCE and express loud approval. I don't mean emails. I mean proper, snail-mail letters, personally signed.

Now for those who are not American.
Back when Myrick was raising hell over an issue of Islam I wrote to two elderly friends I have in N Carolina (the gentleman, still feisty and with-it, is a veteran of the Normandy landing). I sent them some information from this site - I think some of it was about Coughlin's 'To Our Great Detriment' and I told them how much I admired what Myrick was doing, and also that Coughlin had hold of the right end of the stick.

Anyone else here who is NOT American but has American friends/ relations/ professional or business or church contacts...have you informed those friends? Have you told them that the Jihad targets America not because of anything America has done, but simply because America, like Byzantium or Persia or India in the 6th-8th century, is a tempting target - big and rich and beautiful, a pirate's dream of plunder? And it is Infidel, which provides ALL the rationale that Islam ever needs for armed robbery (see Khaybar Oasis...)?

If your American contacts have gotten used to all the hateful 'you deserved it' agitprop from non-Americans, your words should at least get attention due to sheer novelty - because you will be saying "NO you DIDN'T deserve 9/11, it ISN'T anything you've done, it's NOT because of Israel, it's because these sand pirates have an aggressive imperial ideology that allows them to attack anything Infidel that moves."

Pray that some of those politicians who got copies of Spencer's 'Religion of Peace?' in the mailout organised by 'traeh', who was posting here for ages, will listen to Myrick.

Perhaps the paradigm shift is on the way.

"8. Restrict religious visas for imams who come from countries that don't allow reciprocal visits by non-Muslim clergy."

Stop ingnoring the fact that only Muslims are allowed into Mecca. Claim this is an example that the core beliefs of Islam are supremicist and mired for all time in bigotry.

Just as an add on.

Posted by: Ian [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 19, 2008 6:35 PM

Ummah Gummah

I was thinking the same thing. Move to NC in her district and help her out.
Maybe it will be the first Muslim free district in the USA>
We have to start somewhere, better be in a place where there ia a leader with a working brain.
If she was elected , it means she has a lot of fans overthere.

McCain should not look further for a vice president.

Posted by: Tartine [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 19, 2008 8:09 PM

McCain-Myrick 2008.

Has a good ring to it.

Yes M&M very good

Posted by: ebonystone at April 19, 2008 12:14 PM

Republicans have a traitor in the white-house and yet, will not support patriots like Sue and Tom Tancredo. What does that tell you about Republicans?
As for start a third party, bringing Tom tancredo back will be enough to reverse the course of American misfortune.

Posted by: Alert [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 19, 2008 11:50 PM

"McCain-Myrick 2008."

Has a good ring to it.
Posted by: profitsbeard

THAT'S IT!

A VP candidate we can all get behind. Anyone know of any zingers in her past that might be a problem?

"Why aren't the Republicans running this woman for President instead of the witless McCain? Is it too late to start a third party for the 2008 election?"

John Bolton for President, Sue Myrick for Vice-President!

Posted by: lafn [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 20, 2008 12:36 AM

Sue Myrick is probably wary of muslims because there are gazillions of them in North Carolina, especially in Charolotte. North Carolina doesn't seem like a place that would magnetically attract muslims but for some reason it has. There have been several high profile cases in the Charolotte area involving Lebanese muslims who were using the proceeds from illegal cigarette sales to support Hezbollah. They owned convenience stores which were mainly just fronts for their illegal activities. The guilty parties were innocent, naive muslims who hadn't a clue that they were breaking any laws and were so traumatized after being arrested for numerous crimes that they threatened to return to Lebanon, where such irrelevant practices are entirely legal. Muslims figured out long ago that America is the best place to generate big bucks to support terror organizations and they take full advantage of it.

Not too long after 9-11, some muslims were caught video-taping office buildings and banks in downtown Charolotte; Charlotte has become a major financial center and apparently an attractive target for jihadists.

Maybe Ms. Myrick has had some dealings with these law-abiding, exemplary immigrants and is familiar with their potential for perfidy and malfeasance, and has taken the time to study their culture and religion and learn what makes them tick. Every member of congress should have done that immediately following 9/11, but most of them remain clueless.

Posted by: Susanp [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 20, 2008 1:38 AM

Why isn't Myrick on Fox News or Lou Dobbs talking about this? Until she starts discussing her proposals on TV, this effort is doomed.

Posted by: Bingo [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 20, 2008 1:46 AM

All my best to the intrepid Hugh. McCainmutiny, Hiltuzlary, or Mahobama should be reading here.

Posted by: No More Ham, Ed [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 20, 2008 2:04 AM

Sue Myrick is great. A few months ago, when I left a message with her office asking her advice about the Jihad Awareness Project (which is now finished), she took the time and trouble to call me back.

Posted by: traeh [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 20, 2008 3:57 AM

Saudi princes and their hirelings in Pakistan ISI have deep connections to American military and Arms lobby. These common sence ideas would never work as Iraq was created by Bush due to this very same connection. This very same connection enabled the KUNDUZ airlift by ISI helicopters and the senior haqqani netqwork is due to this airlift only.

3. Investigate the selection process of Arabic translators working for the Pentagon and the FBI.

-And the rest of the the departments, CIA, DHS, NSA...

4. Examine the non-profit status of the Council on American-Islamic Relations

-And MAP, ISNA, and the rest of the Ikhwani front groups

5. Make it an act of sedition or solicitation of treason to preach or publish materials that call for the deaths of Americans

-And stating, preaching or publishing support for organizations that make the threats for them, ie. Hamas, Hizballah and Al Qaeda to name a few

7. Cancel scholarship student visa program with Saudi Arabia until they reform their text books, which she claims preach hatred and violence against non-Muslims.

-And cancel the student visa programs to ALL middle eastern, asian and other Islamic countries (bosnia, albania) not only until they reform their curriculum, but indefinately since the US cannot distinguish between a peaceful muslim and non peaceful muslim, or a peaceful muslim that advocates the Qur'an replacing the constitution. Add also halting of immigration from middle eastern countries for the same reasons as stated above...you can't trust them.

9. Cancel contracts to train Saudi police and security in U.S. counterterrorism tactics.

-And the rest of the Mohammadan security forces ie. Fatah, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistani

10. Block the sale of sensitive military munitions to Saudi Arabia.

-And Egypt, Pakistan along with the rest of the Islamic nations

As others said, not nearly enough but definately a step in the right direction.

Isn't this the same congresswoman Myrick that had just dropped and left the Hesham Islam/Stephen Coughlin storm after raising the cloud over it in the first place?

Not sure what to make of her, not sure how consistent she is but in regards to the article, definatley a step in the right direction and at the very least showing more common sense then any others at this time in US government.

Posted by: Sneakyzionistcrusader [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 20, 2008 11:31 AM

I sent this lady an email thanking her (you have to come up with a NC-based zip code and address in order to get her site to accept the email).

I said I'd also like to see some investigation into exactly WHAT INFLUENCE those very, very generous Saudi donations to our universities are having on the curriculum? (Rep Frank Wolf (R-VA) was asking about that a couple of months ago, as well...)

Posted by: A_Nonny_Mouse [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 20, 2008 3:45 PM

What a great CONGRESS PERSON!

She has my full support and appreciation!

I hope that most Americans back her up!

Wow, about time a politician makes a sensible declaration of how to fight the war on radical Islam! All of these make sense, are relatively inexpensive, and will stop the problem in the bud - the ideological component. Way to go.
