A Which-Side-Are-You-On Update from Patrick Poole of Central Ohioans Against Terrorism. The apologist in question is MPAC's Salam Al-Marayati, with whom, incidentally, I have had many extremely contentious exchanges on Radio Islam, the Alan Colmes radio show, and the Michael Medved show. Patrick has some extraordinarily illuminating information on him and on the Islamic Center that is hosting him. A segment:
In June 1999, Al-Marayati was selected by then-House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt to serve on a 10-member congressional commission on terrorism. But...this announcement was immediately followed by revelations that Al-Marayati had made numerous statements in support of terrorism and terrorist organizations. In fact, his appointment to the terrorism commission was revoked by Gephardt following these revelations. (See the Investigative Project's profile on Al-Marayati.)

Doubtlessly, of course, it all comes down to economics. When folks down in Oman become frustrated, when they become embittered by the loss of jobs, of industries gone 25 years ago, they invariably turn to guns and religion for solace, and turn against kuffars who oppress them--what, you say? Ohio? Oman, Ohio--it's all the same thing, man.

If Muslims object to being labelled as perpertrators of violence , then simple cease being the perpertrators of violence... Problem solved..
