Thousands of Christians trapped in churches as Muslims riot, looking for them.
"Nigeria: Muslim Rioters Attack Christians In Kano: Claim of ‘blasphemy’ in city market leads to looting, destruction," from Compass Direct News (thanks to Morgaan Sinclair):
KANO, Nigeria, April 23 (Compass Direct News) – Hundreds of Muslims took to the streets of this northern Nigerian city on Sunday (April 20), attacking Christians and their shops and setting vehicles on fire on claims that a Christian had blasphemed Muhammad, the prophet of Islam.Thousands of Christians were trapped in churches until police dispersed rioters. Fearing that Muslims may attack again, many Christians have relocated to army and police barracks in the city.
An as yet unidentified Christian was said to have written an inscription on a shop wall that disparaged the prophet of Islam. Muslims at a market in the Sabon Garia area of the city reportedly attacked the Christian, whom police rescued and took to the area police station.
Muslims in large numbers soon trooped to the police station, threatening to set it ablaze unless officers released the Christian to be stoned to death in accordance with sharia (Islamic law), sources said. Police were able to disperse the mob.
“A Christian trader was accused of making some blasphemous inscriptions against Muhammad in his shop by his Muslim colleagues, who pounced on him,” Baba Mohammed, Kano police spokesman, said in a special radio broadcast.
He said the accused Christian escaped from being lynched and ran to the police station seeking protection, adding, “We had to move him to the police headquarters here in Kano for protection.”
Police have arrested some of the Muslim rioters, he said, adding that an investigation is underway.
“We have made several arrests of persons suspected of attempting to breach the peace while the suspect [accused Christian] is in our custody pending conclusion of the investigation,” Mohammed said.
Nnamdi Ike, a Christian who witnessed the disturbances, told Compass in Kano that Muslim claims that a Christian painted an inscription insulting Muhammad were false.
“Christians have always been attacked on false claims of blasphemy,” Ike said. “No Christian wrote anything against Muhammad or Islam. It is all a lie. They just made this up to find a reason to attack us.”..

I'd love to know what the inscription said that was so disparaging. Mohammad did so many nasty things, freely admitted by the Islamic "holy writings", that is would be interesting to see what they think is "disparaging".

The U.N. will stay silent on this issue until the Christians arm themselves and start kicking but. Then they will prosecute the Christians as criminals.

My mind is benumbed by the evil poisonousness of Islam -- but with the towering mountain of evidence of the horribleness of Muslim intolerance, I'm even more dumbfounded that most of my fellow Westerners fail to or refuse to face the truth. Self preservation seems to be an extinct instinct in most of us today.

You know what's very sad?
Most people will never know about this.
Unless you read Jihad Watch or a few other news sites, you never see stories like this reported. And that's a real shame. We are propagandized by journalistic silence in the west.
Shame on the death cult in Nigeria for hunting Christians. Islam seems to enable the lowest aspects of human nature.

I guess that they grew impatient waiting for a Christian to do something they know will get them killed. So thier bloodlust has to be satisified somehow. Just make it up and once the ball gets rolling it dont matter what the truth is. One way or another they will get thier blood.

“No Christian wrote anything against Muhammad or Islam. It is all a lie. They just made this up to find a reason to attack us.”.
That's probably true...it only takes one liar to set off the 'touchy' masses, and that liar does not even have to be good at it.
Foolish leftists and apologists think that these 'touchy' masses of muslims leave that touchiness on the boat when they step on the western shores.
They do not, they bring it with them.
Coming to America is the environmental cure that does not work, because you have to bring yourself with you. They bring with them the Quran, hadith, Sharia, and all that means, and a high degree of touchiness if you don't like it. It's only a matter of time till the brazen feel brazen enough to express their touchiness here as well.

Mark Steyn wrote, "The Islamists open up a new front every day without even batting an eye." It's so true - they are perpetually outraged and constantly seeking to fight against anything un-Islamic. Trying to understand their grievances is impossible because none are rational and they keep popping up at the slightest action. Western leaders have nothing to say about this. Here's a plan - the next Pope should be from Africa and maybe he'd start to address these issues.

Brack Obama insists he is a Christian but has been remarkably silent about Muslim attacks on Christians in southern Sudan - he's had the past 20 years to notice that particular on-running mass-murder that began two decades before the Darfur killings, which also can be ascribed to the promptings, not of Islam, but of the Arab supremacism that is part of Islam.
Nor has he said a public word about Biafra, and what led the Ibos and other Christians to attempt to win their independence in that 1967-69 war. Though the entire Western world, intent on doing nothing to interrupt the flow of oil from Nigeria, did nothing to help the Christians of Biafra -- only two states, Ghana and Israel, even recognized Biafra -- and did nothing to protest the Egyptian pilots who strafed Ibo villages, killing helpless tens of thousands, not everyone has forgotten the Biafra War, nor what it was about. And what it was about, as Colonel Ojukwu said in the Ohiara Declaration of 1969, was a "Jihad" unleashed against the Christians, a Jihad not unlike that of 1804 that had been waged in West Africa by the Emir of Sokoto against, not Christian black Africans but those who simply continued to practice their African religions -- and thus were Infidels, worthy of being attacked.
A historical naif, Obama appears not to have noticed the plight of Christians in Africa, nor said a word about the long history of the Arab slave trade in Africa (see "The Hideous Trade") that continues to this day, and where it was ended, ended only because Westerners - the French in North Africa, the British in East Africa and the Arabian Peninsula -- put a stop to it. Speaking up about such matters would signal to the American electorate that he is aware, keenly aware, about what Muslim Arabs wrought in, and brought to, Africa.
Of course, in one sense Barack Obama has no greater obligation to speak out about this than does Hillary Clinton, or John McCain. But in another sense, given that many are uneasy with a number of his remarks, including his clear attempt to manufacture an identity that includes the father who decamped when he was two (he was raised entirely by his mother, and by her parents, a fact that he does not appear, having made his political career in southside Chicago, to recognize with sufficient gratitude or even understanding), he could do much, and his expressed belief that sitting down and chatting with Muslim leaders, including Ahmadinejad (thereby lending the latter a legitimacy, handing him a public-relations victory, of the kind Carter has tried with Hamas) makes sense shows the politico-diplomatic naif at his disturbing worse and he needs to offer a sign that he understands, or is willing to start finding out about, Islam -- and not from John Esposito, or for that matter any of the other usual apologists. He's intelligent. He can read. He can start with Spencer's anthology "The Myth of Islamic Intolerance" and go from there.

Obama isn't the only historical naif in politics today. To me, and I'm not a Christian, this is more important news than whether Lou Dobbs disrespected Pope Benedict XVI re: his comments about illegals in the US. But of course, the main/lame/left wing media in this country has only one narrative on Africa: all the cuurent problems are the result of past Western/White (nee Christian) colonial abuses of the native populations.

Now let's see. A Muslim says a man insulted Mohammed and the Muslims riot and kill.
In his upcoming biography of Jesus, "Basic Instinct" director Paul Verhoeven will make the shocking claim that Christ probably was the son of Mary and a Roman soldier who raped her during the Jewish uprising in Galilee. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,352277,00.html
Christians will be angry and but not riot and murder.
And the left has the audacity to call Islam:

“No Christian wrote anything against Muhammad or Islam. It is all a lie. They just made this up to find a reason to attack us.”..
To me, whether or not the accusation was true is completely irrelevant. Why should writing something on the wall be a reason to kill someone?
Of course, I know the reason: it's because most muslims are vicious psychopaths. And the even ones that aren't don't seem to see a problem with it.

Certainly the issue is not whether a Christian shopkeeper did, or did not, do thus or such. The issue is that these people..these adherants of islam, are violent, looney, implacable thugs who are individually and collectively, out of control.
I know in the good part of my heart that their are some decent muslims, albeit a tiny minority but I am so sick of the whole bunch I want to puke.

In an age when Christianity and Judaism are blasphemed incessantly by Islam and the self-anointed leftists of the west: so what if some “alleged” but highly unlikely, Christian trader did blaspheme “the prophet”. Muslims, in spite of everything, need no excuse to maim and murder, to them it is an integral part of their loathsomeness. Nor is it solely in Nigeria where Christians’ and Jews’ lives are at risk by the Islamist hordes… whose tenet is founded on ignorance and bigotry.
Meanwhile, the numerous Western apologists will continue to mollycoddle these psychopaths, whilst discounting the heinous atrocities perpetrated on innocent Christians, Jews and other non-Muslims.

Is this a special incident? My short answer is no; my long answer is Hell no. Christians, Jews, atheists, Sun Worshippers, Buddhists, Shintoists, and everyone who does not worship Allah are blasphemers. The mere act of making the sign of the cross is a Catholic act of blasphemy. In this instance, these creatures just needed a quick excuse to start a rampage. They either found one or invented one.

Considering Obama's familial and political ties to and sympathy for Islam, and that a portion of his education included several years in Islamic schools studying Qur'an in Arabic and learning to recite with proper accent Islam's fundamental prayer, doesn't it seem he already knows Islam?
In fact, considering his efforts at covering up many aspects of his personal life, how surprising would it be to discover that Obama has all along been a Muslim in sheep's clothing?

Amy,
The letters that you received, were they from Muslims concerned for your safety?
Would you care to push the envelope a bit by writing about something a little less mild? If so, then write about how Mohammad and his horde of theiving pirates attacked the tribe of Banu-L-Mustaliq, killed many men, and stole lots of "booty," including their wives. Among the widows was the lovely Juawarriyaa. Naturally, Mohammad, that model of conduct, raped her. Allah's last and best prophet deserved no less, you see?
Write about this rape, if you'd like a death threat from some Islamozombie who will no doubt accuse you of blasphemy.

I would speculate that is was this very process that led to the defensive Christian crusades against Islam. Islam shows itself again and again that it is unable to live with and mutually honor the dignity of its neighbors.
Consider the lynching comment. We are to Muslims as blacks are to the KKK. As long as we play the good uncle Tom, we are good little dhimmis. The first sign of interest in a Muslim woman, or of not liking Muslim rule, and WHAM, there is rioting, raping, looting, lynching and beheading.
The more I learn about Islam, the more I believe its lack of respect for non-Muslim dignity is worthy of scorn.

You can gauge how much the West cares for Africa generally by observing media treatment of news-worthy African stories compared to stories from Asia and the Americas. Notice how they ALWAYS say "El Salvador", "Sri Lanka", "Bolivia", "Syria", "Albania", etc., but when it comes to Africa it's just "Africa". This is fairy consistent and has always amazed me. I guess they figure only a few people have ever heard of Angola, Zambia, or Nigeria, and these national distinctions couldn't make any difference to the audience.
US foreign policy in African countries can never have improved meaning if Americans can't find more than two African nations on a map. Or distinguish between good and bad in the continent's struggle between Christianity and Islam.

Hugh, I had forgotten about Biafra, that "Civil war" that kept nagging us in the late '60s. I remember those times - the 60s - a period of mass upheaval that changed American politics forever. Vietnam was raging at the same time as was Biafra, but, of course, Biafra could not compete for mindshare. During that time I don't recall Islam and its role in Biafra being mentioned even once. Rather, the civil war there was interpreted entirely in terms of tribal politics. Wikipedia's entry on Biafra doesn't mention an Islamic element in that civil war. But do a google search on "Biafra Islam" and tons of stuff pops up. Also, contrary to a comment above, the Wikipedia entry on Biafra also states that only "Gabon, Haiti, Côte d'Ivoire, Tanzania and Zambia" recognized it during its short existence. No mention of Israel.
How times have changed since 9/11. Check out http://www.biafraland.com/Jihad_Toll.htm (scroll to the bottom) for an account of Biafra interpreted using our newly gained understanding of Islam.
Thanks, Hugh, for that little tidbit. The pieces are slowly staring to come together.

MP, you are obviously a Muslim, no man has the right to kill anyone. Other religions dont kill your people when you destroy their religious and places. You see, we hope that by talking and understanding each other will cause things to come right as we dont want people to die, but your religion only knows death, slaughter, rape and hatred. I couldn't live my life like that and I sure couldnt belong to a religion which causes non stop world wide violence, slaughtering babies, children, women etc. it is a very evil religion it is a war cult.
Do you think that other religions are weak when they say to love and forgive everyone even your enemies, Jesus said to forgive them for they know not what they do, Mohammad says to slaughter them.. big difference eh.. one is loving and forgiving as is Buddah, hundi etc, but Mohammad is the ONLY religion which says to kill, kill, kill, and Mohammad set the example of raiding village after village slaughtering all who would not submit or took them as slaves so as he and his merry men could have them as sex slaves and work horses, yep Mohammad sure had a religion of peace, like hell, all you have to do is read the last three quarters of the Quran and others of your books to see how hateful and destructive it is.

Not at all. The silence of the candidates speaks volumes. It's coming through loud and clear. They're doing what they learned in childhood: if you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all.
All three could stand at the podium with their mouths taped shut and it wouldn't matter. Barring a political cataclysm, one of them will be inaugurated in January. They don't have to say anything.

Gaye,
I don't understand how you assumed that MP is a Muslim. His was a question and not a statement.
I saw it as a question for the police. They protected the man who was falsely accused. Would they have granted him the same protection if the charge had been true, or would they have turned a blind eye to the mob or even arrested him themselves, with his death just a matter of time? Would they have arrested those who threatened him or would they have praised the attackers as good Muslims who were merely following sharia?

It's interesting to note that there have been over 10,000 deaths (overwhelmingly Christian) owing to inter-communal violence in Nigeria since the decade began....more than in Palestine. Yet, while the world obsesses over Israeli "occupation", the tragedy in Nigeria is barely a blip on the global radar screen.
Priorities...
The status of victims of Muslim violence (even if those victims are Muslims themselves) is second-rate compared to that of Muslim victims of non-Muslim violence. Pakistani or Iraqi Sunnis and Shia can desecrate each other's mosques with grenade and machine-gun attacks...with nary a raised eyebrow from the international community. But if Israel or the Coalition forces fire on a mosque, it is a grave atrocity against Islam.
Why? Easy.
For Dhimmis, Muslim violence is considered normative in today's world. Non-Muslims are held to a higher standard. The bigotry of low expectations.
For Muslims, it's just one more facet of Islamic supremacy.

I did not know about Gabon, Haiti, Zambia, and the Cote d'Ivoire having extended official recognition to Biafra but am willing to believe that they might have done so -- especially the Cote d'Ivoire, given Houphouet-Boigny's recognition of the Muslimi threat. That threat of Islam on the march -- Laurent Gbagbo is still dealing with the same threat, and the French during Chirac's reign took the side of the Muslim rebels -- a threat which may have prompted Houphouet-Boigny to build that gigantic cathedral in the bush at Yamasoukrou. While Westerners mocked this as a white elephant, they failed to understand what Houphouet-Boigny understood. And that is that the very size of that cathedral, second only to St. Peter's, was not foolish but prompted by a desire to impress locals with its monumental size, just as Muslim missionaries carefully build, everywhere in Infidel lands, the largest mosques, with the tallest minarets, on the highest spot of ground, wherever they can -- for they find it helps their cause.
Nyerere did issue a statement in 1968 of support for Biafra that perhaps was the equivalent of diplomatic recognition.
Israel and Ghana both recognized Biafra, and Israel in fact helped supply some arms to the Biafrans (while Egyptian pilots in MIG-17s strafed Igbo villages).

During the Biafra War of 1967-1969, which was triggered by a massacre by Muslims of Christians, the entire Western world stood by and allowed the Muslims of the North to slaughter the Christian, mainly Ibo, south. These Muslims were aided by outside Muslims, including Egyptian pilots who strafed and bombed Ibo villages, killing tens of thousands -- without any opposition, anti-aircraft fire, anything.
The war was brought on by the Jihad against the Christian Ibo and other Christian peoples of southern Nigeria by the Hausa and Fulani Muslims of the north (Islam itself was spread most recently in the 1804 Jihad declared by Othman Dan Fodio), and by the desperate attempt of the Ibo (Igbo) people to free themselves from Muslim aggression. Tens of thousands of civilians were murdered --- by the Egyptian pilots who repeatedly bombed and strafed them.
Great Britain, France, the United States, all of Europe, did nothing to help the Christians. Col. Ojukwu, in his Ahiara Declaration (for the full text, google "Jihad Watch" and "Posted by Hugh" and "Ahiara Declaration"), said that the Biafrans were fighting off a "Jihad" that was being waged against them -- and the word was not being used figuratively.
Only two states recognized Biafra: Ghana and Israel[Update: Tanzania, Zambia, Cote d'Ivoire, Haiti and Gabon, it is claimed in one wikipedia article that requires checking, also recognized Biafra] The rest of the Infidel world turned its back, pretending to believe that it was more important to "keep the largest black African country whole" even if this meant the appropriation of southern oil wealth by the Muslims who controlled the army and repeated aggression against the Christians of Nigeria -- an aggression that continues to this day, in the steady spread of sharia, in the attacks on Christian peoples. Usually the press only reports the Christian attempts at retaliation, not all that goes before -- and furthermore, describes this as "communal violence" rather than Muslim aggression which the Christians must ward off.
There may yet be another Christian uprising. All the oil is in the south. The Muslims have been applying Sharia to Muslim and non-Muslim alike in several of the Nigerian states. They forced a Christian journalist, making an innocently joking remark about how "Muhamamd would have appreciated the girls in the Miss World Contest" (which contest was closed after violent Muslim protests), to flee for her life to England. The suppression, almost entirely unreported in the Western world, of the Christians in the south, many of their population centers still occupied by the Muslim-dominated army, continues.
One way to embolden the Nigerian Christians is to rediscover, and talk about, the Biafra War, and how terrible the behavior of the Muslims -- the Egyptians in particular -- was during that war, and how pusillanimously the entire Christian or post-Christian world behaved. And make sure the Biafrans, that is those Christians who long to rebel, know that this time they will be given arms and other kinds of support and will not be abandoned.
And what would do the most good is not in Nigeria itself, but if the American government, instead of wasting resources on the ungrateful, and largely non-existent "Iraqi" people, were with a few thousand soldiers to seize the southern Sudan and Darfur, and while tens of thousands of grateful black Africans demonstrate their joy and gratitude (so different from the whining, demanding, sullen, and essentially hostile even if occasionally feignedly-friendly-in-order-to-obtain-more-handouts-and-more-American-goodies behavior of the "Iraqis"), who will dare, at the U.N. or the E.U., to deplore such obviously humanitarian intervention? And it will be a signal, a three-way signal:
1. To the Arab League, and to Muslims, and especially to Egypt: your plans in East Africa to extend the Dar al-Islam all the way through Ethiopia will not be permitted. This is the end of this little game of mass murder that has gone on too long. And Ethiopia will not be subject to threats from Egypt about diverting some of the headwaters of the Nile for irrigation projects.
2. To the Chinese, signing oil deals with the Sudan -- sorry, no can do. We are more interested in the wellbeing of the black Africans whose country this once was (a hundred years ago, 80% of the country was non-Muslim and non-Arab) than you communists-turned-ruthless-capitalists-and-exploiters have shown yourselves to be. Well, too bad.
3. To the black Africans of southern Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Cote d'Ivoire, Togo, and everywhere that local Muslims are becoming more aggressive, especially where Saudi money is transforming mosques into something less syncretistic and easygoing than had heretofore been the case: this is what we, the Western world, can do. Sursum corda. We won't make the mistake made in the First Biafra War again. We now understand Islam, and your plight, better. So keep at it.

"An as yet unidentified Christian was said to have written an inscription on a shop wall that disparaged the prophet of Islam..."
Muslims: "We don't know who he is, but we know he's a Christian, and we know he disparaged Mohmmed. How do we know? We just know. The police got to him, before we could, so we can do nothing now but riot and terrorize all the other Christians in the neighborhood."

They are starving so they need a reason to loot their neighbors. This is looting in the name of Muhammad or Allah. Nothing new here, these sort of thing have been happening ever since Islam contaminated the Earth. These incidents happen everywhere it is contaminated with them and too frequently. My grandfather was looted by Muslims every other years and so did my great-grandfather and my great-great-grandfather going back thirteen centuries. There is nothing anyone can do about it.

Muslims rioting, attacking Christians over claim that a Christian blasphemed Muhammad
......................................................
Imagine what it would be like to live like this. *This* is the true face of life under dhimmitude--constant insecurity and fear.
Not only would you have to be obsessively concerned with your every off-hand comment, and how it might be interpreted by oh-so-sensitive Muslims, but also have to rely on the constant discretion of every one of your co-religionists--even hot-headed teen-age boys, drunks, and your senile grandmother.
And the concern is not just for what you or your neighbors might say, but also the comments or actions of British teachers, Danish cartoonists, or the Pope in Rome.
And that doesn't even address false accusations. If a Muslim wants your land, or to rape your daughter, what better than a false accusation of blashemy?
What really happened with this Christian shopkeeper? What, if anything, did he paint on the wall of his shop? Perhaps his Muslim "colleagues" (in this odd phrasing--were they employees, partners, or fellow shopkeepers?) were upset with him for some unrelated reason--the wages he paid, his prices, the merchandise he sold, the relationship he had with his customers.
This sort of thing has happened in Nigeria before. Several Christian schoolteachers have been attacked--some murdered--after being accused of blasphemy by students who had been disciplined or given a poor grade.
Maybe the man's "colleagues" were upset that he owned a shop at all, when there were so many deserving Muslims around.

So I see a kind of progress. I did not know anything about a link between "Biafra" and muhammedanism. Just a couple of years ago I found out that the horrible events in "Bangla-desh" in 1971 had something to do with the religion of peace.
So at least in those years the denial was even stronger 35 years ago.

A long long time ago, maybe forty years, when I was a little girl going to bed at night in the little house on my father's farm, up in the mountains, out in the Australian bush, I can remember lying in bed in the dark, saying my prayers. And I can remember - how did I know? did my mother teach me to do it? was it that I heard about Biafra on our radio? - praying not just for the usual things children ask, but for 'the starving children of Biafra'.
Finally I know exactly why they were suffering.

Goes to show when a religion does not "grow up", it goes crazy over ever little slight there is. Muslims, grow up and get with the 21st century!
