Free Speech Death Watch Update: "Senate condemns blasphemous cartoons, anti-Islam film," by Iftikhar A. Khan for Dawn (thanks to Twostellas):
ISLAMABAD, April 25: The Senate on Friday unanimously adopted a resolution condemning the publication of blasphemous cartoons in some European countries and the release of an anti-Islam documentary by a Dutch parliamentarian. It urged the United Nations to put an end to activities against Islam and ensure respect for all religions. The resolution said that the sacrilegious acts had hurt the sentiments of Muslims and violated international laws, including the UN Charter, and also laws of the countries where the sacrilege had been committed.
The resolution said such sacrilegious acts had harmed the efforts of the Dutch and Danish governments to build bridges between religions and civilisations.
The resolution urged the UN to take “all necessary legal, political and administrative steps to curb this trend”....

Why not urge the UN to curb the awful treatment of Non Muslims in Pakistan, degrading treatment of women in Pakistan, terrorist training camps in Pakistan, training of Jihadists in Pakistan. Pakistan needs to commit to extermination of jihadists with all the billions of dollars of aid given to support the war against Jihadists. Curb anti American and anti Israel and India rhetorics by Islamic imams. Curb madrases that pump out terrorist Islamist bent on killing non Muslims. Curb the hatred taught in Mosques and madrases in Pakistan against Hindus, Jews, Christians, Buddhists and other belief systems.

ISLAMABAD, April 25: The Senate on Friday . . . urged the United Nations to put an end to activities against Islam and ensure respect for all religions.
Before calling on the UN for anything, Pakistan should first ensure "respect for all religions" in Pakistan itself, and, second, call on the OIC to have its members do the same.

I don't want Islamics demanding respect for my religion. Thats got absolutely nothing to do with any Muslim. They can say what they like about my religion, the same way I will say what I like about theirs. This is not negotiable.
They think that if they include all religions in their ridiculous blasphemy claims, under the cover of protecting all religions, that will get followers of other religions to back them in their stupid claims, and thus place restrictions on freedom of expression. This must be fought against tooth and nail.
All they are paranoid about is their violent, barbaric cult, which they know full well can not stand up to honest scrutiny, so they have to, at all costs, protect it from any attack, no matter how trivial.
This is one battle we must not lose.

So, let me see if I understand this - Christians, Jews, Hindus, etc - and even muslims - die at the hands of muslim jihadists and we are all supposed to care about a video. A video about 15 minutes long.
And then that very same UN who wants the authority to just levy taxes against us in the USA who already pay the highest to this despicable organization. and Obama votes for that - of course! What a good widdle left wing idiot he is!
The UN needs to get out of our country. Go station themselves in europe - that same Europe that will be erupting with muslim violence over any excuse to do so.
I saved Fitna off on my pc and so many other videos showing muslim violence - like the 6+ year olds they train to be jihadists and suicide bombers, the 12 year old beheading a man - the uncensored version, etc. Because they are censoring so much off of youtube now.
Until the so called 'moderate' muslims start rioting and insisting that their fellow muslims stop the slaughter - I will tell the muslims and UN to kiss my fat, hairy donkey. Oh, and iPods are great inventions - I can download a video(s) and show them whenever I want to show them. :-)

Perhaps at the same time the UN could condemn the child abuse propaganda that is featured on Palestinian and iranian childrens programs.
You know.... Jews and Christians are apes and pigs ... we should martyr ourselves to get rid of them, and on and on.
The UN is about as "useful as a grease nipple on an Emu"
Not sure who to credit that quote to.

Legal steps? Exactly what did you have in mind? Probably that the UN would enforce sharia law worldwide.
All the more reason to totally ignore the worthless UN.

"The resolution said such sacrilegious acts had harmed the efforts of the Dutch and Danish governments to build bridges between religions and civilisations."
I wonder how the Pakistani government would react if a resolution were introduced in the U.N. demanding that Saudi Arabia lift all restrictions on non-Muslim worship in their country? If Pakistan is all so interested in "building bridges between religions and civilisations, they would have introduced such a resolution themselves.
The truth is Pakistan and other Muslim nations aren't the slightest bit interested in building bridges between religions and civilisations. They want the world to acknowledge Islam as somethig special, worthy of special consideration and protection.
What burns me is that no Western nation would dare instruct their U.N. Ambassador to answer Pakistan's demands with a litany of oppresive policies of Muslim nations against Christians and other non-Muslims.

The statement seems slightly hypocritical to me. Is America the slightest bit interested in building bridges between religion and civilisation? Or only as long as these "aliens" prescribe to Western social and economic values? Is there such a thing as an even dialog between the two?

All the more reason to totally dismantle the very dangerous UN. It's far from worthless. It's a useful stage for anti-Western propaganda. It is very dangerous, however - to free and freedom-loving people everywhere.
The first step: find a new home for the UN. New York needs the real estate. This American won't mind if our president has to travel across the ocean to speak before the General Assembly. If the president is averse to foreign travel or the schedule is tight then he can be accommodated. With modern telecommunications he doesn't even have to leave Washington. He can conduct face-to-face meetings with people all over the world without even leaving the White House. All that would be missing is the handshake. The photo-op would be a person talking to a screen.

theonecalledjonesy,
Is there anything wrong with prescribing to Western social and economic values? Those values include freedom of the press, freedom of speech, freedom of religion (which Muslims enjoy in every Western nation where they reside).
If you're suggesting that the values of Islamic socities are morally equavalent to Western values, you're dead wrong, besides being morally confused.
I'm not being hypocritical, Im saying flat out, Islamic societies are rotten to the core. The Judeo/Christian values of the West are far superior.
900,000 Arabs apply for immigration to the U.S every year, not including other Western nations. So what are they saying about the societies they're trying to escape from?

Apparently you don't have a clue about what America is all about. America has, since its beginning, built a bride to other cultures and countries. The evidence is the extremely long line of people wanting to live here.
However, other cultures and countries don't extend the same courtesy to us. You would NEVER EVER have such freedom to protest and express your opinion, that we take for granted, in other countries. The only countries which come close are Western countries.
The muslim-occupied countries have absolutely no interest in building a bridge our way; they will, however, criticize us if our bridge to them doesn't meet their specifications.

Years ago, I actually wrote my congressman and suggested that they move the UN to West Berlin. In so doing, all of the arrogant, drama-queen, third-world diplomats would have to look at the wall every day, and they would have their mobility appropriately restricted.
I figured that that alone would do more for the cause of freedom than anything else we could do.
However, when my congressman forwarded my letter to the state dept, the reply from them was a bunch of hot air (a bunch of nothing).

Isn't there a kind of Islamic one-upmanship going on with all of this official legislative gnashing of teeth about how the corrupt West is dissing Islam and its precious prophet?
It's a fearsome game, and the prize is brownie points with Allah, not to mention bragging rights in Mo'ville. It doesn't mean shit, in truth, but THEY believe it means EVERYTHING to avenge slights to Mohammad's sacred honor, as they MUST, for if they fail to raise the biggest stink imaginable in defense of His Glorious and Blazingly Obvious (Except to Obtuse Infidels) Perfections, then.... then Allah in his displeasure WILL let something REALLY BAD happen to them, like an earthquake coupled with a tsunami, followed by cholera, and worst of all, having to accept infidel assistance in the rebuilding effort, like in Banda Aceh. :^ (

Islam hates truth as a roach hates light.
Their demand that people stop talking about Islam, is proof in and of itself that Islam cannot stand the light of day.
I seem to remember some "artist" that placed an ancient crucifix in a jar of piss and called it art.
A few folks protested the stupidity, but no-one died.
Can you possibly imagine the reaction from the "Muslim world", if some holy relic of theirs was treated in a similar fashion? If they freak out and kill over cartoons...
Whiny bitches. They gotta go to the UN cause their feelings are hurt. Ever heard of any other religious group goin' to the UN and asking for lawsuits to be filed to make people stop talkin' about their religion?
As other posters mentioned...never mind all the death and destruction done in Allah's name. Let's focus on a film and some cartoons!! Insanity.
The death machine that Mo created, to make himself rich, and provide himself with sexual satisfaction, has outlasted its creator by far too long. When people finally see it for what it is, it will die of neglect.

The resolution said that the sacrilegious acts had hurt the sentiments of Muslims and violated international laws, including the UN Charter …
The resolution said such sacrilegious acts had harmed the efforts of the Dutch and Danish governments to build bridges between religions and civilisations. …
The house took notice of a recent resolution of the UN Human Rights Council on freedom expression and hoped that the UN would take action …
We must respect Pakistan (the Land of the Pure), pure BS.
Will we hear Dutch and Danish parliament respond and lash out on this outlandish hypocrisy? Or will they prostrate and see if there after all isn’t any loop hole to punish the "Wilders" with?
Pakistan the land where the Pure know how to build bridges between religions:
Local law enforcement officials commonly fail to take precautions against Islamic extremists abusing religious minorities or to investigate and prosecute those responsible for such actions.
…
In a court of law, a Christian man's testimony is worth half of a Muslim man's and a Christian woman's testimony is worth only a quarter. As a result, many Christian women are raped and not able to obtain convictions against the perpetrators. Quite often, the victim is charged with having illicit sexual intercourse.
…
A high court ruling stated that if a woman converts to Islam, her marriage, performed according to the rites of her previous faith, is null and void. There have been reports of this law being exploited by individuals abducting young women and forcing them to convert to Islam.
…
Religious minority groups, including Christians, are subject to violent sectarian attacks by Sunni militants, often resulting in dozens of deaths. Although the government has taken some steps to hold the perpetrators to account, its efforts have not been sufficient.
…
The country’s Hudood ordinances, which call for harsh punishments for those who purportedly violate Islamic Law, frequently result in violations of the rights of women in Pakistan. Often Christian women have been arrested under this ordinance and have been charged under the Islamic Law for not covering their heads.
…
Christian girls are repeatedly raped, molested and in some cases killed by Muslims. Although complaints have been registered with the police, the latter do not take effective action against the assailants.
…
The blasphemy laws have given a strong foothold to many of the Muslims to file false accusations against Christian minorities, which often results in their arrest and deaths while they are in police custody.
…
The report condemns Pakistan for systematic state-sponsored religious discrimination against Hindus through bigoted "anti-blasphemy" laws. It documents numerous reports of millions of Hindus being held as "bonded laborers" in slavery-like conditions in rural Pakistan, something repeatedly ignored by the Pakistani government.
Don’t the Christians and Hindus in Pakistan get it, they can’t continue to hurt the sentiments of the bridge building Muslims.
85% of Muslims in India voted Yes to partition but only rather few of Muslims in the Indian parts did move to the new paradise for the Land of the Pure. In (west) Pakistan there was roughly 18-24% Hindus after partition, today it’s estimated to less than 2%. In Bangladesh there where 30%, today roughly 8%. In India there where maybe 10% Muslims and today 14%. Pre partition there where 25% muslims in India, among the demands from Muslin political parties was that they should have 50% power in key areas in an united India. Today with it’s growing percentage there are constant demands on quotas and special considerations for the muslim minority. In Pakistan and Bangladesh there have been constant persecution and discrimination on Hindus by the super-sensitive bridge building Muslims.
"Mar 2005: US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told Musharraf at their recent meeting in Islamabad that Pakistan is "a model country for the Muslim world"."

900,000 Arabs apply for immigration to the U.S every year, not including other Western nations.
Actually about that number enter Europe illegally. Another million or so "legally" - you know as wife number 2, 3, 4 etc plus all the dependent relatives adinfinitum.
Why do they come here? I suppose to remove the huge misunderstanding in the West, of the great (and noble- mustn’t forget noble) faith of islam, and to show how much more superior islam is to Christianity. Can’t think of any other reason.
-------------------------------

I dont know about building bridges. What I have heard so far is that they are quite good in blowing up bridges - and airplanes, airports, embassies, buses, trains, etc.
I'm so bored. When will this war stop? Why cant Muslims just go back to islamic lands - then we can all live in peace. We can then have great respect for Islam, and maybe even build a bridge together.
Goodnight all.
