"'Myrick's latest attempt at fighting terrorism is nothing more than a fear campaign,' said Jibril Hough, a spokesman for the Islamic Center of Charlotte. 'It is nothing more than a new McCarthyism, or Myrickism. As Muslims, we have become expendable as politicians like Myrick seek political gain.'
"Myrick said she wants the group to give a point-by-point rebuttal of her plan."
Yes, that would be most interesting. What could Jibril Hough say? Let's go through the Myrick Plan and see:
1. Investigate all military chaplains endorsed by Abdurahman Alamoudi, who was imprisoned for funding a terrorist organization.
Alamoudi is doing 23 years for funding jihad terrorism. Is it possible that some of the military chaplains he endorsed shared his jihadist views? Can Jibril Hough explain why not?
2. Investigate all prison chaplains endorsed by Alamoudi.
Same question as for #1.
3. Investigate the selection process of Arabic translators working for the Pentagon and the FBI.
An FBI whistleblower has reported that Arabic translators there cheered the 9/11 attacks. Can Jibril Hough explain why this should not be a cause for concern?
4. Examine the non-profit status of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations has had several of its officials convicted on jihad terror-related charges, and was named an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas funding case. Can Jibril Hough explain why its tax-exempt status should not at least be examined?
5. Make it an act of sedition or solicitation of treason to preach or publish materials that call for the deaths of Americans.
Objections, Mr. Hough?
6. Audit sovereign wealth funds in the United States.
If these funds may be used to conduct warfare against the U.S., what exactly is Mr. Hough's objection?
7. Cancel scholarship student visa program with Saudi Arabia until they reform their text books, which she claims preach hatred and violence against non-Muslims.
It is demonstrably true that they do. Does Mr. Hough endorse this?
8. Restrict religious visas for imams who come from countries that don't allow reciprocal visits by non-Muslim clergy.
This is simply in the interests of mutual tolerance and understanding, is it not, Mr. Hough?
9. Cancel contracts to train Saudi police and security in U.S. counterterrorism tactics.
Given ongoing Saudi financing of the global jihad, what exactly is Mr. Hough's objection?
10. Block the sale of sensitive military munitions to Saudi Arabia.
Same question as #9.
But I doubt that Hough will provide a point-by-point refutation, for the same reason that John Esposito will not debate me. What can they say?
"Muslim condemns Myrick plan: Senator says she welcomes dialogue on anti-terrorism proposal," by Jim Morrill for the Charlotte Observer (thanks to Twostellas):
A spokesman for a Charlotte-area Islamic group Monday accused U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick of leading a "fear campaign" with her proposal to curb the expansion of radical Islam.Myrick, a Charlotte Republican, proposed a 10-point "Wake Up America" plan this month that, among other things, calls for investigations into the selection of the Pentagon's Arabic translators and some Muslim military and prison chaplains.
"Myrick's latest attempt at fighting terrorism is nothing more than a fear campaign," said Jibril Hough, a spokesman for the Islamic Center of Charlotte. "It is nothing more than a new McCarthyism, or Myrickism. As Muslims, we have become expendable as politicians like Myrick seek political gain."
Myrick said she wants the group to give a point-by-point rebuttal of her plan.
"I'd be glad to have a dialogue with them," she said. "The whole point is that we're trying to get people to work together."
Myrick's proposal has also drawn criticism from the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations. One of her proposals was to investigate the group's nonprofit status....

Everyone please DONATE to her future campaign fund.
This is where we jihadwatch readers either put-up or shut-up.
We have one couregous congresswoman stepping up to the plate and she deserves our full support. Especially financially, since I assume the majority of us do not live in her district and cannot support her with our vote.
This is where the talk ends... Please support her finacially!!!

Muslims are harming themselves by always condemning the infidel 'Islamophobes', (is-slahm-o-fohb) - A non-Muslim who knows too much about Islam, who point out there is a problem with Islam's islamists. Never to condemn any of the atrocities being conducted in the name of Islam such as 11000+ deadly terrorist attacks since 911 alone. Muslims always 'shoot the messenger'. Quite the trend revealing itself and Islam / Muslims with it.
Now who's feeding Islamophobia? or is that Islamomisia?

Myrick plan is a very well intentioned plan . Non Muslims will have no objection to that and willingly comply with all the required rebuttals. Only Muslim peer groups and its followers will object. The reason is understandable. But the Muslims will invent some excuse or the other. If none , then they will come out with some sura no and tell that it is against Islam and Quran. But the plan must be pursued in the interest of humanity not only US

Don't you just wish any and every moron who ever compared anyone to Joe McCarthy had the balls and the intellectual honesty to admit that Joe was right?
Or is it just me?

Is hat another 'revert?'

That crossed my mind as well. 'Hough' is not an Islamic name I recognize, if is it must be unusual.
I would like to see his picture.
Myricks items are reasonable, needed and timely.
Someone above said she needed supporting and she does. The enemies of freedom will attempt to bury her...It is our job to shovel faster than they...

-- from a posting above
23 years is the period over which Muhammad received, intermittently, as the spirit and need moved him, messages from Allah, via the Angel Gabriel.
Every Muslim knows this. The celebrated Iranian dissident Ali Dashti wrote a book about Muhammad entitled "23 Years." His audience did not need an explanation.
Oh, you might be interested to know what happened to Ali Dashti under the Islamic Republic of Iran. But I won't tell you. You can guess.

Hugh,
Thanks for the enlightenment about the 23 years.
As for the rest; it is unlikely that it was the Angel Gabriel, but rather Allah himself that appeared to Muhammad. Muhammad, who had no witnesses, as in "The mouthes of two or three witnesses shall evey word be estabished!"
Allah; also known as Lucifer,Satan.."The Father of all Lies"! And he has deceived many!!!!

On second thought, I will post here the Wikipedia entry on Ali Dashti and his book "23 Years":
"Born into a Persian family in Dashtestan, Iran in 1896. Ali Dashti received a traditional religious education. He studied Islamic theology, history, Arabic and Persian grammar, and classical literature in madrasas in Karbala and Najaf (both in Iraq) He returned to Iran in 1918 and lived in Shiraz, Isfahan, and finally in Tehran, where he became involved in politics of the day.
Rather than becoming a cleric, he became a journalist and published a newspaper (Shafaq-e Sorkh) in Tehran from 1922 to 1935. He was a member of Majlis at various times between 1928 and 1946.
Dashti was arrested twice: first in 1920 and then in 1921 after the coup d’e`tat that brought the future Reza Shah to power. His prison memoirs, Prison Days, made him a literary celebrity both at home and abroad.
Dashti’s visit to Russia in 1927 was a decisive point for his later development of skepticism and free thought.
His criticism of allowing the Tudeh party into the cabinet and concessions to the Soviets landed him in prison in 1946. He was appointed a Senator in 1954 until the Islamic revolution in 1979. He was arrested after the revolution and was severely beaten during one of the interrogations. After being released he was not allowed to return to his home. Dashti wrote his thoughts in the book 23 Years which because of censorship could not be published in Iran. It was published anonymously in Lebanon. Ali Dashti gave a copy of Bist o Seh Sal to F.R.C. Bagley in 1975 and requested him to translate and publish it only after his death. Bagley believed this book is valuable because it discusses both values and problems Islam presents to modern Muslims. Bagley says that modern Muslim scholars have not paid much attention to difficulties and for the most part focussed on exposition and apologia.
Ali Dashti wrote Twenty-three Years (the title refers to the prophetic career of Muhammad)which leveled a devastating criticism at some of Muslims’ cherished beliefs. The book was written in 1937 but was published anonymously, probably in 1974, in Beirut, since the Shah’s regime forbade the publication of criticism of religion between 1971 and 1977. After the Iranian Revolution of 1979, Dashti authorized its publication by underground opposition groups. The book may well have sold over half a million copies in pirated editions between 1980 and 1986.
An Iranian newspaper reported his death in 1982. He was tortured to death by the islamic regime."

Mr. Hough,
Other than bitching and moaning like a Total Whiny Butt about how expendable you perceive yourself to be, while not providing the point-by-point rebuttal to Myrick's eminently sensible plan that she rightly expects you to provide, if indeed you object to any part of it, how exactly are YOU fighting terrorism, assuming, of course, that you really are opposed to Muslims waging violent jihad against infidels anywhere on the planet for no other reason than that the Qur'an commands it?
In other words, Mr. Hough, are you prepared to be a bad Muslim in public, or to at least engage in taqiyya for the sake of preserving an image of peace loving and cooperative with law enforcement Islam that you have tried to create in the minds of your somewhat leery infidel neighbors?
C'mon, you can do it. Play the good citizen and work with Myrick! Humor her. You REALLY should, because your response so far has been an embarassment. It's as though lying for the sake of Islam was not included in your education. What an oversight! I'll bet it keeps you up at night.

God bless Rep Susan Myrick.
Question: for those of us who are: Indian; Canadian; Australian; New Zealander; Scots, Welsh, and English; Irish; Danish; German; Austrian; Belgian; French...and so on -
WHERE IS *OUR* 'SUE MYRICK'?? Do we have one already, that we somehow just haven't spotted yet...or do we have to make/ recruit one?
We have to do a mailout ('Truth about Muhammad; PIG to Islam and the Crusades; Islam: what the West needs to Know) to every last parliamentarian, or assemblymember or whatever they're called, in our particular country - just like 'traeh' from this very website did for the US Senate.
We look real hard to find out whether even one of our elected representatives in our home country is anywhere near being as much 'on the ball' as Myrick appears to be; and we offer them [suitably-adapted-for-non-USA-context] Myrick's anti-jihad plan (plus the improvements that Mr Spencer suggested!).
Such a person, or people, once we find him or her, will need to be backed to the hilt.

Umm,get the hell out of my country? Surely you would be much more comfortable in a Muslim land.
A friend of mine applied for a job as an Arabic translator after 9/11. She is a Christian who was born and raised in Jordan, and speaks Arabic fluently. The government wouldn't hire her because she is not a citizen. She is Armenian, and has faced discrimination and harassment in her country of birth by Muslims. You would NOT have seen her cheering on 9/11; she was horrified and wanted to help in any way possible. I guess non-jihadis are unwanted in the translation department!

Muslim leader Jibril Hough is merely doing his duty to wage jihad with words and propaganda.
Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 14, Number 2498:
Narrated Anas ibn Malik: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Use your property, your persons and your tongues in striving against the polytheists.
“Persist in jihad in the cause of Allah, with your money, your souls, and your tongue.” –-Ali
http://www.shia.org/sayings.html
From Bostom’s collection The Legacy of Jihad, an Ottoman Fatwa that sums up the classic jihad policy regarding fighting with words:
“2) War by word of mouth: Every {Muslim} is in duty bound to write and speak against the unbelievers when actual circumstances do not permit him to assume more stringent measures…” {p. 223, brackets added}
From wikipedia:
"Muslim scholars explained there are five kinds of jihad fi sabilillah (struggle in the cause of God):[1]
• Jihad of the heart/soul (jihad bin nafs/qalb) is an inner struggle of good against evil in the mind, through concepts such as tawhid.
• Jihad by the tongue (jihad bil lisan) is a struggle of good against evil waged by writing and speech, such as in the form of dawah (proselytizing), Khutbas (sermons), et al.
• Jihad by the pen and knowledge (jihad bil qalam/ilm) is a struggle for good against evil through scholarly study of Islam, ijtihad (legal reasoning), and through sciences (such as medical sciences).
• Jihad by the hand (jihad bil yad) refers to a struggle of good against evil waged by actions or with one's wealth, such as going on the Hajj pilgrimage (seen as the best jihad for women), taking care of elderly parents, providing funding for jihad, political activity for furthering the cause of Islam, stopping evil by force, or espionage.
• Jihad by the sword (jihad bis saif) refers to qital fi sabilillah (armed fighting in the way of God, or holy war)."
---------------
"Jihad is a propagandistic device which, as need be, resorts to armed struggle – two ingredients common to many ideological movements." (Maxime Rodinson. Muhammad. Random House, Inc., New York, 2002. p. 351.)
Except when they are using da'wa, Muslims should be harsh against the non-Muslims:
48:29. “Muhammad (SAW) is the Messenger of Allah, and those who are with him are severe against disbelievers, and merciful among themselves…” {also see 5:54}.

There is nothing John McCain has done or says he will do that will make me vote for him (never trust a RINO). However, there are things that Obama or Hillary have done or say they will do that will make me vote for... McCain.
I would, however, vote for Vice President Myrick in a heartbeat.
