Iraqi pols to Iran: Stop meddling

maliki_ahmadinejad_handshake.jpg
Pals no more?

Does Maliki's Iraqi government no longer regard Iran as a "close ally"?

"Official: Iraqi delegation goes to Iran to discuss militias," by Qassim Abdul-Zahra for Associated Press (thanks to all who sent this in):

BAGHDAD - An Iraqi delegation traveled to Iran with evidence that proves the Islamic republic is arming and training of Shiite militias in Iraq, an official said Thursday.

Five Shiite politicians left Wednesday carrying documents and other material they claim indicates that Iran is supplying weapons and training fighters who are locked in a violent standoff with U.S. and Iraqi troops, the government official said.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to release the information, said the delegation would present the Iranian government with material that implicated Iran's elite Quds Force, part of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The delegation was expected to meet with Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to discuss the issue and stress that ongoing clashes between Shiite extremists and U.S.-Iraqi forces were threatening political gains by Shiites. [...]

The Quds Force is believed to operate overseas, helping to create the militant Hezbollah group in 1982 in Lebanon and to arm Bosnian Muslims during the Balkan wars.

The U.S. military has stepped up its allegations that Iran is continuing to train and arm Shiite militias despite Tehran's insistence that it is not fueling violence in Iraq but trying to promote stability in the neighboring country....

Stability: of course. The stability of a Shi'ite Arab client state. Stability? Sure. A Pax Persiana.

The Iraqi leaders are hoping to pressure Iran to stop aiding militias by presenting Tehran with the latest evidence, a senior U.S. defense official said Wednesday.

Reda Jawad Taqi, a Shiite lawmaker and a senior member of the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council, confirmed the delegation left for Iran on Wednesday.

Taqi did not provide details but said the purpose of the trip was "to review the current situation in Iraq with Iranian officials, to clarify the situation with them and to enhance the mutual relationship between the two countries."...

The apparent idea that, somehow, Iran does not realize that it is aiding the militias in Iraq is preposterous. How I long for an Eisenhower, an adult, someone in Washington who has real accomplishments under his belt ... someone with more than a degree from an ivy-league diploma mill on his resume'.

"Tehran's insistence that it is not fueling violence in Iraq but trying to promote stability in the neighboring country".

This comes close to being defined as a oxymoron as well as the usual practices of deception, and half truths--taquiya and kitman.

"Pax Persiana"

I think this should be written as "Pax Persica." While I never studied Latin in school, my father was a bishop, and he insisted we speak Latin at home. "Pax Persica" sounds peachy-keen or peaches-and-cream to me.

Far from suggesting that Iran and Iraq are less than close allies, this article suggested that Iran's actions were more counterproductive than unwelcome.

ongoing clashes between Shiite extremists and U.S.-Iraqi forces were threatening political gains by Shiites.

Taqi did not provide details but said the purpose of the trip was "to review the current situation in Iraq with Iranian officials, to clarify the situation with them and to enhance the mutual relationship between the two countries."

The relationship is alive and well.

The picture of the dynamic duo is not complete. There is actually a dynamic trio. Al-Sadr is the third leg of this love triangle. He's not the President of anything, but he calls a lot of shots.
Allah and a variety of Ayatollahs advise him.
Of course there could be a lovers spat going on.
They all have a driving desire to be in charge of something, or they would not be in the positions they are in. So there may be some sibling rivalry going on. I wonder if Maliki, or Sadr buy into Ahmadinijads claim that he is chosen to usher in Mahdi? That's really Shi'ite one upsmanship, 'Allah has chosen me...and not you'. How did you accomplish that, or are you just lucky? How can a good Shia be happy with that? How can Sadr know of this and not turn green with envy...Well I guess Allah really does work in strange and mysterious ways...Mostly strange and mysterious...

Well I guess Allah really does work in strange and mysterious ways...Mostly strange and mysterious...

duh_swami,

I'm finding something else totally strange and mysterious. It's OT, but this sentence left me asking: what is he talking about?

Going back to our topic of discussion about Mark Gabriel, he was honest to his intellect and realized that he had two choices as a Muslim: to follow political “Christianized” Islam and please the government and the Azhar, or go the Jihadi route of violence, which is the true face of Islam.

What renders political Islam "Christianized"?

Interesting that Maliki is wearing a tie...

Oh the little dwarf of IRan is very sneaky. Let's not forget the 8 (?)year war IRan and Iraq waged against each other not long ago. Methinks the dwarf draws his enemy close, one would think that Malaki would see that. Maybe religion clouds his judgement. Ya think?

Prunus persica is peachy to me. Ahmadinejab is one bad fruit from one odious tree. Malum persicum.

Oh so it's okay for Iran to call for the obliteration of Israel, but if Hillary says it about Iran it's a violation of the Charter. idiots....

from above: For that, he was fired from the Azhar after taking some abuse by the Azhar’s great minds who resorted to their best methods of intellectual pursuits by spitting on Dr. Gabriel’s face, cursing him and calling him a bastard.

PMK...I really like that line. It shows the highest qualities of the best of them coming out. They just can't contain their love, their cup runneth over, they have to share it, in this case with Gabriel.

I have no idea what 'Christionized Islam is. Sounds like someones invention. It also sounds like an oxymoron.

It's interesting that numerous muslims go to Islamic universities, and study Islamic subjects for years, and collect various degree's, and none of them can out debate Spencer, who has no Islamic issued degree's and never went to Al-Azhar, or any other Islamic university that I know of.
Most of these fakir's can't out debate you, unless they get into useless sharia minutia. Like for instance the 70+ instruction on how to toilet yourself. They got me, I have no idea what the 54th toileting command is. And if it's got anything to do with rocks and pebbles, I don't want to know... :)

duh_swami - I thinking they better be smooth rocks and pebbles.......

I would think that, in Islam, the search for the perfectly smooth rock would occupy so much of your time, that you wouldn't realize that there is even such a thing as jihad.

The Religion of Pieces (rocks, that is).

Here is the key words...

Taqi did not provide details but said the purpose of the trip was "to review the current situation in Iraq with Iranian officials, to clarify the situation with them and to enhance the mutual relationship between the two countries."...

In other words..."you idiots, stop putting "made in Iran" on the stuff you send in...the Americans are starting to figure it out".

In the photo, notice they both hold onto both of each other's hands.

You can't let them have a free hand, or they each know where it will go.

Nut job whining that Clinton's comments are "provocative, unwarranted and irresponsible". (But when he talks about wiping Israel it is okay. That is allah's will, you see.)
