Jihadists shoot rocket from Gaza into Israel, hit school

The city is exhausted, and the politicians are pursuing false remedies that will only bring the remaining residents more of the same.

Truce Update: "Gaza: Rockets On Sderot; Hit School, City Worn Out," from ANSAmed (thanks to Insubria):

(ANSAmed) - TEL AVIV, APRIL 30 - Over ten Qassam rockets were fired today from the north of the Gaza Strip towards Israeli Neghev, particularly towards to city of Sderot. No victims were reported. Local sources specified that one of the rockets exploded inside the courtyard of a school, while the classrooms were being opened. Another exploded near a petrol station, one blew up in a truck depot. In the area of the crossing of Erez, Palestinian militants have also opened fired against an Israeli patrol. No victims were reported. Yesterday, during a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, the mayor of Sderot, Ely Moyal, pointed out that the population, after years of almost daily bombings by the Palestinians, is exhausted. According to Moyal, some 15% of the 20,000 inhabitants of the city have moved somewhere else. (ANSAmed).

At some point, some Israeli government is going to have to solve this problem. My guess is that it will only happen by destroying Gaza. If Gaza were to be occupied by the IDF, the problem would just be pushed towards 2020. A line of D-9s, say 20 abreast, could probably do the job.

The philistines are very lucky I am not in charge...I would walk a wall of artillery shells from northern Gaza all the way to the Egyptian border, forcing all philistines to vacate Gaza and join their brothers in Egypt. Problem solved forever.

Since rockets are being launched from the Gaza strip, it is a legitimate military target. Why is Israel not launching its own missiles at Gaza? It seems that the Israeli government has been castrated. Wake up!!!

Perhaps one should start a new blog - "Truce Watch"

This is sheer madness to tolerate this constant barrage of rockets. Hit them and hit them hard. Give them a final warning and broadcast it to the world. The next rocket to hit Israel, take out a section of Gaza, and repeat as the rockets come.
This has to stop, and all the talking in the world will not help.

We need to think about putting all of the Paletinians and all of the Israelis and lock them all in one big room and have them play Candyland and Chutes and Ladders with each other while listening to the torturous, seditious propaganda of the George W. Bush war machine being played over and over. This, and only this, will make them docile.

A disproportionate response is in order.

Does Carter have any comment on this?

Yes, send Jimmy. Peace will prevail. Question is, and I would like to ask him these questions, "Did you find the Palestinians to be reasonable people? Are they following the example of Mohammed in their actions on Israel?

Thousands of rockets have been lobbed into southern Israel. Everything that was predicted would happen if the Israelis destroyed those Jewish villages -- that in some cases predated the establishment of the state of Israel, and that had been built with the support of every Israeli government, on land to which Israel holds a title superior to any other claimant -- has happened, and worse. There is no example of Israel having given up something tangible in exchange for some hope - the hope of non-hostile and friendly relations with the government and people of Egypt, for example -- where that hope has been justified. And that is not an acccident, simply a reflection of temporary bad Arab leadership, or one or two examples of naivete. It has to do with the nature of Islam, the nature of how Muslims view agreements made with non-Muslims. Why is this impossible for Israel's leaders to understand? Can't they get hold of Majid Khadduri's Law of War and Peace In Islam? Can't they read the entries in the on-line Encyclopedia of Islam? What prevents them from finding out the Muslim rules that regulate Muslim treaty-making with Infidels? It's not a mystery. It can be found out.

Good idea send Jimmuh boy. We can attach him to a MOAB and drop him from 15000 feet

So frustrating since the solution is so easy and even non-miltary (if you want): cut off all electricity, food and water and wait.

And at the same time, jack up the price of food to muslim countries to match the price of oil. Since muslims don't actually produce anything, they are as dependent on our food production as we are on their oil production (which is produced using infidel technology, knowhow and labor).

I don't mind spending my tax dollars to help out poor countries feed themselves, if they are willing to invest the time to develop their own economies. But I'm really tired of paying billions to some corrupt U.N. bureaucrat to mismanage and then send a cut to some corrupt third world dictator. And I really don't think we should do anything for a muslim country when we are paying kabillions for oil to other muslims that refuse to help their own (particularly the paleostinians).

We see why they need so many rockets. Guidance systems aren't their forte. Anything they hit in Israel should be deemed an accident. They were really going for [something or other] over on the next block.

It appears that Palestinian factions are awaiting for the official announcement of a ceasefire before holding their fire....

The longer the Israelis wait, the more the problem breeds.

For every rocket that comes into Israel from Gaza, fire 100 back.

For every 2, fire 1000 back.

For every three, 10,000.

Let them taste their own medicine.

This infuriates me. WHEN are they going to start fighting back?!

I didn't hear anything about this on the news yesterday, but the first thing I heard on the radio was a story about some poor palestinian family, and how an Israeli rocket hit their house just as they were sitting down to breakfast.
Boo hoo.

probably eating food donated to them by the Israelies, cooked on the electric stove with electricity furnished by the Israelies while sitting on furniture donated to they by the Israelies, and drinking water purified and supplied by the Israelies...

THe Muslims furnished the terrorists who fired rockets outside their door, which in turn caused some Israeli to fire a rocket to kill the Muslims who was firing rockets at the Israelies..

Well, at least, the Muslims know what their priorities are..
