Methodist group claims responsibility for Philippine bus bombing -- no, wait...

Scratch that. It wasn't Methodists after all. It was, of all things, an Al-Qaeda-linked Muslim group. Didn't they get the new US government guidelines about not linking Islam with terrorism?

"Muslim militants-linked extortion gang says it caused Philippine bus bomb that wounded 5," from The Associated Press, May 9 (thanks to Twostellas):

MIDSAYAP, Philippines: A notorious extortion gang claimed responsibility Friday for detonating a bomb in a passenger van that wounded five people in the southern Philippines, a town mayor said.

Manuel Rabara, mayor of Midsayap township in North Cotabato province, told reporters he had received several calls from a man demanding money on behalf of his group before and after the bomb went off at a passenger terminal Thursday.

"We will not give in to their demand," Rabara said.

The homemade bomb, apparently detonated by cell phone, exploded while the van was about to begin a journey, police said. Five people were wounded, including a mother and her two children. The mother's feet may have to be amputated, said a doctor, Sanny Sandig....

Police believe the April attack, which caused no injuries, was the work of the Al-Khobar gang that has been targeting bus companies and other businesses.

Authorities said the group has ties to al-Qaida-linked Abu Sayyaf militants, notorious for bomb attacks and kidnappings for ransom....

Didn't the Pillipine Gov't make some kind of agreement with these guys? Something about you can have your island if you quit killing people?

I could be mistaken.

From the article - 'a notorious extortion gang' - and then this:

"Manuel Rabara, mayor of Midsayap township in North Cotabato province, told reporters he had received several calls from a man demanding money on behalf of his group before and after the bomb went off at a passenger terminal Thursday."

Is there, in fact, any real difference between Islam, once it starts actively aggressing, and the Mafia?

The whole thing, stripped of illusions, seems to boil down to nothing other than a 'protection racket'.

Kidnapping. Extortion. Robbery. All held together by a 'code of honour' elevated to the status of a religion (compare the Omerta; compare the rituals of the Thuggees, or the Triads). Organised crime as a religion. A religion that teaches its followers to behave like an organised crime gang. (The 'peaceful' or 'moderate' Muslims are like the members of a Mafioso extended 'family' - they're either approving of what happens, or they're in denial, but one way or another, they still belong to 'the family' and benefit from its evil activities).

I like Manuel Rabara's spirit. He knows that paying up just means more threats, and more demands for payola, further down the line.

Now he needs backup, psychological and physical; he needs to know that when he and his community say NO to the biker gang aka Muslim thugs, their stand will be supported by the Filipino non-Muslim authorities, up to and including the implacable use of deadly force.

If anyone reading this is Filipino - please send Mayor Rabara a letter of encouragement (and condolence for the harm done to his fellow-citizens), and explain about dhimmitude - which is what the Muslims, by threats, bullying and ultraviolence, are trying to impose on him and his town.

If Midsayap has a town library, it needs to receive a donation of a 'resource pack': a printout of 'Islam 101' from this site; the complete set of booklets from ' Centre for the Study of Political Islam'; 'The Legacy of Jihad'; and a complete set of Spencer's books to date. The parish priest or bishop could be provided with Spencer's 'Islam Unveiled' (which was specifically written for Catholics). Disks of 'Fitna' and 'Islam: What the West Needs to Know' could be included. Has 'Fitna' been subtitled into Tagalog yet?

There should be *some* people in the town who know English well enough to be able to read these materials and then share what they've learned with others, in the local language.

Okay, now, what made you not refer to MILF in this article? Come clean.... ;-)
