The Islamic Courts Union are back -- in some areas of Mogadishu. "Islamists target Somalis in terror campaign: Islamists target white aid workers," by Alex Strick van Linschoten in the Sunday Times, May 11 (thanks to Morgaan Sinclair):
When Ibrahim Saeed Abdullah saw a neighbour’s cinema burnt down by a barrage of grenades, he realised that he had no choice but to heed the death threats he had received from the big men with guns in their hands and hatred in their hearts. Last week he closed the doors of his own cinema for the last time.It was two years since Abdullah had opened for business in Mogadishu, the largely ruined capital of war-torn Somalia. The location may have been inauspicious but the timing seemed right: the Islamic Courts Union, an Islamist coalition that briefly took over much of the country in 2006, had just been driven out by an American-backed Ethiopian invasion.
In recent months, however, Al-Shabab, the military wing of the Islamic Courts Union, has spread renewed fear through Mogadishu, a city of up to 3m people that has been convulsed by fighting for 17 years.
Like the Taliban in Afghanistan, Al-Shabab does not approve of the showing of films.
Soon Abdullah’s cinema was the last one standing in Mogadishu and he was threatened repeatedly. “They came with weapons, surrounded my cinema and told me, ‘We will kill you if you don’t close’,” he said.
Al-Shabab, now an autonomous rebel group which has added an explosive element to the combustible mix of Mogadishu’s militias, enforces strict sharia (Islamic law) and uses tactics imported from the global jihadi movement. As in Afghanistan, those who work or trade with the government risk being branded as spies or collaborators and beheaded as a warning to others.
Members of Al-Shabab deliver “night letters” to businessmen and others they wish to intimidate. One such letter listed “traitors assisting the occupiers who attacked the country” and warned of action if they did not make amends in 48 hours.
The group has overrun at least eight towns this year and taken control of large swathes of Mogadishu. It is behind a spate of roadside bombings directed at convoys of Ethiopian troops....

Once again the Muslim terrorists target those whose cause is to distribute food, medicine, water, and give comfort to Muslims. THe violent Muslims are so terrified that the NonViolent Muslims will begin to see that all they have been told by their clerics about infidels is a lie. They are terrified the Nonviolent Muslims will begin to see alternatives to their miserable lives and to recognize that it is Islam that is the cause of misery..Muslims are so terrified of the truth getting out that they will attack all those who show up bringing comfort and compassion--which are so UNISLAMIC. Islam survives through the fear of death and violence. Islam will fail once Muslims realize there are alternatives.Islam is showing cracks and the violent Muslims know it , so they resort to their diet of more violence.
Who do Muslims kill? People who show the truth about Islam though print (as in reports , i.e. Daniel Pearl), through film (as in Theo Van Gogh), through TV (as in the TV commentators in som Muslim countries), through personal contact (such as those who show alternatives to Islam, such as Christians, Jews, or other religious entities).
It is said that Muslims kill to spread Islam, it is also true that Muslims kill to prevent the truth about Islam getting out (even if it means killing your own family members). Such is the fear of Muslims..They fear if Muslims learn the truth about Islam, they will leave. Muslim fear the truth.

by the way, the Muslims will attack and kill Black aid workers too. They have done so on many occasions.

Which begs the question, why would anyone give enough of a damn about Somalia to be an aid worker. It's not like there aren't other worthy countries where such efforts would be appreciated. Seal the borders as much as possible.

The entire Western Hemisphere is under seige, Europe is nearly lost to Islamic conquest. It appears that the only event that will save Europe is a revolution, and I do not mean a ballot box revolution.
This voting thing ain't working. The nominatiing process in the good ole US of A is a joke, farce, and it seems to have failed.
Do I care what happens in Somalia? My short answer is no; the long answer is hell no. As long as this sore can be contained within Somalia's borders, get the aid workers out and let it fester.
As for the Muslim pirates operating from Somalia, no quarter and no prisoners.

The man closed his business in response to death threats from fellow Muslims.
It's hard to know where to draw the line but I am frequently left wondering: why should any of us fight for people's freedom if they won't fight for it themselves? If this cinema owner isn't willing to fight for freedom should he have any right to expect someone from the outside to come in and fight on his behalf?
What did he do when American forces were in Somalia in the 1990s? What about the Ehiopian force? Did he aid either of them or did he protest their presence or did he just sit back and watch? What does he plan to do now?
The jihadists are gaining ground again. How are they doing that without support from their fellow Somalis? The people are not being oppressed by outsiders.
Pelayo is right. Seal their border. It's their country. Let them fight for it or die.

Islam, Sharia Law. Go to the prisoners here in the U.S.A.The ones who have converted to Islam, ask them, what are you in for?
Robbing and stealing? Okay you are a moslim, so you fall under Sharia Law,senticing 100 lashes and cutting off your right hand.
