Just a little bomb. So, people would have been totally okay with that, right? "Accused calls British bomb plot a publicity stunt," from CBC News, June 2:
A 27-year-old man accused of planning to bomb North America-bound airliners, including flights that prosecutors say were headed for Montreal and Toronto, said on Monday he was planning a publicity stunt, not mass murder.
Abdulla Ahmed Ali, one of eight British men charged with plotting to simultaneously detonate liquid explosives aboard passenger jets in 2006, told a court in London he had never considered bombing a plane.
He testified he instead planned to set off an explosion at the Houses of Parliament in London, using a device large enough to generate "mass media attention." He denied he planned to kill anyone.
"We never intended to murder anyone or to injure anyone," he said. "We never even thought about going on an airplane."
Prosecutors accuse Ali of being one of three ringleaders in a plot to kill hundreds of airline passengers by detonating bombs concealed in soft drink bottles as the flights crossed the Atlantic Ocean or over North American cities.
Earlier in the trial, the jury was played a video in which Ali said he wanted to become a martyr. He threatened to "punish and humiliate" non-Muslims and "teach them a lesson they will never forget."
The computer systems engineering graduate told the court on Monday the video was just propaganda. He said he intended to use the footage for a documentary to be distributed on YouTube. The bomb blast, he said, would help publicize the movie.
Ali said he hoped the documentary would help sway the British public's attitude toward the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which he called "totally illegal and criminal."
Prosecutors say Ali had a computer memory stick that stored vast amounts of detail on daily air services from London to North America, adding that he and his co-conspirators did not seem interested in return flights.

So many of these incidents are perpetrated by people acting like small children. They make up ridiculous lies or accuse their intended victims of their own behaviors. Shouldn't surprise me, though, rational adults don't usually engage in psychopathic behavior.

Hate crime not-withstanding, if this religion is truly great, shouldn't being a non-muslim be punishment enough?

Jihadi's and their stories of why they just happen to be playing with bombs is just amazing, Or for that matter the other story of going to Pakistan and practice shooting AK-47. Additionally the stories of why they happen to beat up some non Muslim priest etc, is sickening and to say the least just amazing that the violence is just the norm. This fetish with bombs and mass murder is an addiction for the Jihadis. They get off on playing with bombs and mass murder and plotting on how to next subdue and kill as mass infidels as possible. More likely than not a nuke is what they would really want to get a hold of and let it go off on non suspecting non Muslims, women, children, the elderly. Just the way of the Islam. Before it was the sword and now bombs.

all have one motive, is to murder innocents and go on their merry way to allah land.

Ali seems like such a nice guy.
I'm sure there's hardly anyone here who hasn't similarly perpetrated a simple bomb prank on occasion.

I agree with Wiggins. They consistently offer lame, childish excuses when they're caught.
And yes, it seems mass murder has some erotic component for these nuts. I hope to go to heaven when I die. These people think they're getting laid for eternity. Good grief.

Well, taking this rube at his word, I guess we can conclude that just as there is regular beer and light beer, there are ordinary Islamic bombs, designed to inflict maximum damage on dhimmis, and light Muslim bombs which only want to make a harmless point about the superiority of Mo's faith. Glad to know about this distinction. I'm certainly the better off for knowing this.

I didn't see any mention of a movie camera....Or even a video camera....I suggest as he stated, he wants to be a martyr, that we comply with his wishes....After-all....the explosives are un-used and readily available.....

But he was certainly telling the truth when he said he wanted to HUMILIATE the non-Muslims. It begins with the Quran - Jews and Christians must be made to 'feel themselves subdued' - but it runs right through the literature and social practice of Islam, a discourse of supremacism and the will to hurt, the will to harm, the will to dominate and ultimately destroy, both physically and spiritually, the designated Other/ Enemy/ Sacrificial Victim, i.e...us, us kafir.
Here's one of those lovely, sweet, mystical Sufis talking about the purpose of imposing punitive Jizya tax (aka Protection money, Mafia style) on non-Muslims who have been subjugated by Islam:

And yes, the dog is frowned upon and even eaten in the MAJORITY non-Islamic world, but has any "(un)Holy" book ever derided man's best friend in such a way as Muhammad's creation?

Western psychology has special words for those who 'get off' on deliberately taunting, hurting, humiliating, bullying, and indeed, in logical progression, raping, torturing, mutilating in inventive ways and, finally, murdering, other human beings.
We call them bullies and abusers and sadists. If they operate solo, we call them psychopaths. If they operate in a group, we call them sociopaths. If they kill their victims, we call them Serial Killers and Mass Murderers and, in a military context, War Criminals. And we name them as Sick and as Evil: NOT as 'heroes' or 'martyrs'.
The brilliant twelfth-century Jewish philosopher Maimonides was right, in spades, when in describing the figure of Ubul Kassim, known to Muslims as 'Mohammed', he (Maimonides) dubbed him "Ha-Meshugga", that is, "The Madman". It was not an insult, but a professional diagnosis.

Quite frankly, I don't ever want to fly on a plane where a "little" explosion takes place, just as a publicity stunt.
You must think we're total idiots! Well, you'll get lots of time to think about it now, in your prison cell.

But they do have the strength of their convictions. They set out to kill. When they are caught or their actions disrupted, they lie and pretend it was nothing serious. Then, when the heat is off, they'll try again. It's how their prophet taught them to live. Kill when you are in a position of strength. Retreat or lie about your intentions when you are in the weaker position. That way, you'll live to kill.
