Iranian engineer pleads guilty to transporting US nuke plant software to Iran

Reza Alavi Update. "Iranian engineer pleads guilty in nuke plant case," from AP, June 25 (thanks to all who sent this in):

PHOENIX (AP) — An Iranian engineer has pleaded guilty to transporting stolen property he obtained at a former job at the largest nuclear plant in the United States.

Mohammad Reza Alavi, 50, pleaded guilty to the charge in a deal reached Tuesday with federal prosecutors. Another charge against him was dropped.

A federal jury convicted Alavi last month of illegally accessing a protected computer but deadlocked on the two other counts.

He faces a maximum of 15 years in prison a Sept. 29 sentencing hearing.

"We are pleased to have achieved a resolution with the government which fits the case and which enables Mr. Alavi and his family to move forward with their lives," defense attorney David Laufman said.

Alavi, a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in Iran, worked for Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station west of Phoenix for 17 years.

Authorities said when Alavi quit the station in 2006, he brought a laptop to Iran containing training software with design schematics and other details of the plant. His unauthorized use of the software did not contain enough information to pose a security threat, Palo Verde officials have said....

Weren't the Rosenbergs executed for this sort of thing?

"His unauthorized use of the software did not contain enough information to pose a security threat, Palo Verde officials have said...."

hey birdbrain official....do you know what was on the computer? The theft of any nuclear information, no matter how small, is very valuable to Muslims..How do you do this fellow did not ,in his 17 years of employment there, send other information to the Muslims. HE may send a piece of the puzzle one, apiece of the puzzle a month later, a piece of the puzzle a year latter...How do you know other Muslims , maybe working at other plants are not doing the same thing...sending everthing they can to their terrorist masters who are gathering all the small insignificant pieces of the puzzle to complete the picture..+

America has suffered other losses of prized nuclear secrets to the cunning of foreign spies and former trusted employees, such as the Rosenbergs.

an old rule: Do not hire Muslims....of course this is just a generality, but in todays world, it may become a neccessity. The security apparatus for guarding military and nuclear secrets needs to be increased tenfold, and immediately.

We need to pause immigration while this threat is ongoing. We need to teach and hire engineering grads who are deeply committed to this country and its people exclusively.

until the ruling elites label the terrorists, aka pious muslims they will see no need to stop immigration, trade etc with muslim countries. how can any iranian get into any firm, univ. in the first place? as usual in governments, the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing!

RESPONSE: Yes.

Engineering is full of moslems. A family member just returned from a job on a nuke where a member of the management was a moslem. When will we ever learn?

But the Iranian people are pro-American(!)
So says Barbara Slavin, she of the US Institute of Peace and soon to join the Washington Times.

pulsar182 - you're suggesting we PROFILE Muslims for sensitive jobs?

I agree.

Just what kind of security measures were in place at Palo Verde? His computer activity wasn't monitored and his laptop not inspected?

The man was able to download "training software with design schematics and other details of the plant" and it did not contain enough information to pose a security threat?
How about enough information to assist Iran in its own development efforts?

At least now it's easier to understand why Iranians are pro-American. We are supporting their nuclear program.

Weren't the Rosenbergs executed for this sort of thing?...

Funny I thought they were executed for treason because they were convicted of giving extremely sensitive information about nuclear weapons to the Soviets. Information of military significance, and not just blueprints of a commercial power plant. Could someone use this information to plan an attack against the plant? Possibly. Would that be a grave breach of national security, such as giving the Soviets a leg up at the beginning of the nuclear arms race? No. Not at all. So throw the book at this clown. He deserves it. But no, this is not exactly like the Rosenbergs.

...if I were Israel I would respond to iran targeting Dimona by rolling out my own missile force and announcing that iran is now targeted for complete annihilation and that any attack on Israel will pull the trigger...this should be clearly not an empty threat or posturing for the masses...it's called deterrence...

Oh yeah, It is also important to tell them about the doomsday device, if any. As we recall from Dr. Strangelove, there is no point in having a doomsday device if you don't tell anyone about it. Threats of total destruction are meant to be announced publicly. Please take note of it.

The Muslim world, whether Arab or Persian, has shown a salivating passion for the acquisition of WMDs, especially the nuclear variety, ever since they learned such things existed.

After all: anything that kills enormous numbers of people, at once, as nastily as possible, and obliterates whole cities, and poisons vast swathes of the earth forever, is going to be very attractive to minds shaped by the psychopathic hate-programming and worship of death and of the Will to Power, that lurks within Quran, Sira and Hadith.

One more time, let's recall an interview that Algerian Muslim Ben Bella, then Prime Minister of Algeria, gave to 'Politique Internationale', in 1982, as reported and remarked upon by Bat Yeor on pp 137-38 of 'The Dhimmi'.

As we read the text, for greater clarity, we should substitute 'Muslims' and 'Muslim' for 'Arabs' and 'Arab'; and let us reflect that they hate ALL kafir just as much as they hate Jews and Israel. The Jews are the ur-kafir, perhaps.

“A negative attitude was expressed in 1982 by Algeria’s first president, in a lapidary formula:
‘Ce que nous voulons, nous autres Arabes, c’est etre. Or, nous ne pourrons etre que si l’autre n’est pas.
- TR: ‘What we want, we Arabs {we Muslims: dda}, is to BE. However, we can only be, if THE OTHER is not’.” {or, ‘if the *other* does not exist’}…[note 8: Ben Bella, ‘Tous Contre Israel’, PI 16 (Paris, 1982).
- Ben Bella openly approved the assassinaton of leaders whose policies he disapproves of – a common practice under the Mamluks – and then went on to justify, after the acquisition of nuclear weapons by Arab {more correctly, 'Muslim': dda} states, a nuclear war to destroy Israel:
- ‘If there is no other solution, then let there be a nuclear war, and that will be the end of it, once and for all.” – ibid, p. 108.

'Such a public display of aggressiveness and moral irresponsibility is rooted in a monolithic clear conscience, which has never been affected by any scruples regarding the tragedy of the dhimmis.' Thus Bat Yeor's observation upon Ben Bella.

Aggressiveness, moral irresponsibility {or should we say, malignant narcissism, absence of empathy, total amorality?} and a monolithic clear conscience. Give minds like that, access to nuclear weapons and goodbye planet earth. Goodbye 5000+ years of human civilisation, art, music, dance, poetry, temples, synagogues, science. All burned to ashes on the obscene altar of the Arab war-demon, 'allah'.

Another Arab Muslim quote, this time unearthed from the MEMRI files:
Shaykh Dr. Mohammed Salim Al-‘Awa – In 1998 MEMRI recorded that he said Muslims MUST get weapons of mass destruction, and Israel must cease to exist.
Secretary General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars; Head of the Egyptian Association for Culture and Dialogue, [and member of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt].

Al''Awa signed off on the 'letter from the Muslims to the Christians' in October 2007. I quote a paragraph from that letter.
"With the terrible weaponry of the modern world; with Muslims and Christians intertwined everywhere as never before, no side can unilaterally win a conflict between more than half of the world's inhabitants. Thus our common future is at stake. The very survival of the world itself is perhaps at stake."

I read that as nothing other than a series of vulgar mafia-style threats. First: "convert to Islam; or, else! We Muslims will soon have atomic bombs, and when we get them, we will use them. You can't win. Nyaa-nyaa-nyaa-nyaa".

Thrown in with this is a veiled threat against all dhimmified Christian communities (they are being identified as de facto hostages for 'our', that is, the kafir/'christian' countries' 'good behaviour', ie our slavish conformity to Muslim demands) and a veiled threat to use the Muslim colonies in western countries, against us.

Nice, isn't it? *spit*

The Persian Muslim nuclear project precisely matches the Arab Muslim ambitions. Ironic, isn't it, that first the Urdu Pakistanis and now the Persian Muslims are pipping the Arab Muslims at the post?...they're trying to outdo them, to be better Muslims than their masters, the Arab Uber-Muslims, to hate the Jews more, to be first with the means to destroy the world for allah.

Deport the lot of them, now. And any Muslim caught spying, as this Iranian engineer was caught, may have to be summarily taken out and executed. As a rule, I oppose the death penalty. But I approve the execution of Eichmann, and of other top Nazis. Jihadi plotters and inciters fall into the same category: amoral supremacists dreaming of the destruction of the world, dreaming of stamping with a steel boot on the face of humanity forever, in George Orwell's horrifying image.

Sooner or later, the jihadis will feel strong enough to lob a nuke at a kafir target, and when they do, they will do it. Because THEY REALLY DON'T CARE if planet earth is permanently ruined and poisoned. They don't care if their own kids evaporate in an atomic flash or perish slowly and miserably in a radioactive wasteland. THEY DON'T CARE.

They have to be stopped. Every kafir in the world has to unite, to stop them. This is the suicide-assassin scaling up to national and supranational level.

I'm an engineer and I have a great number or Iranian coworkers, in fact I work with people of virtually every stripe. The diversity at work is generally an enriching experience. Some of the work my company performs requires a security clearance that is granted by a government agency. Consequently, I have occasionally been interviewed by investigators regarding individuals who they were vetting. The most recent interview I was asked to provide concerned an Arab fellow that I had worked with. The investigator, a smoking hot Latina to put it in context, concluded her interview by asking me if I would recommend that my former coworker be granted a clearance.

She was not quite prepared for my response. I told her that I did not feel called upon to make such a recommendation, that I felt it proper to simply provide the information requested from me and her agency make the determination. But I went on to tell her that I felt that we should not grant security clearances to people of the Muslim faith. She looked at me like I was saying something terrible. I pointed out that being granted access to sensitive information is neither a right nor even a reasonable expectation of anyone.

BTW, the enriching diversity I referred to above is significantly curtailed behind the wall.

Try to contact that lady again. Try to tell her why you said that, why Islam is not a "race" but an ideology, a Total Belief-System. Tell her, if you can, that you think it important for those in her position to understand more about that Total Belief-System, about taqiyya and kitman, and "war is deception," about the duty to participate in Jihad which need not be conducted through acts of terror, or even open qitaal (combat), but through the Stealth or Quiet Jihad, and that unless this is thoroughly understood quite unnecessary security risks will be taken.

Tell her about "Mike" Hawash and how, once he re-discovered his Islam, he was transformed. Tell her about "Ten Thinks To Think When Thinking of Muslim Moderates" and perhaps direct her to some websites, including those run by ex-Muslims.

Educate her.

At the very least, it will give you a chance to talk to her, and meet her again. And it sounds as though that is not something you would find distasteful.

Hugh, she was smokin' hot with a huge wedding ring. And I don't think I could find her contact information. But what you say is true; educate her. At the time she interviewed me I had not yet found this site or become so keenly interested in the threat of jihad. Even so, I gave her the opinion I held at the time.

So many people are totally unaware of the nature of the beast. I have been spreading the word, like Paul Revere. They're not coming, they're here! Yep, spread the word.
