What we should be fighting for this July 4

1. Freedom of religion

What we must defend:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." — First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

What we must defend it against:

"Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth." — CAIR co-founder and longtime Board Chairman Omar Ahmad (he denies saying it, but the original reporter stands by her story)

"I wouldn't want to create the impression that I wouldn't like the government of the United States to be Islamic sometime in the future." — CAIR's Ibrahim Hooper

2. Freedom of speech

What we must defend:

3. Equality of rights before the law

What we must defend it against:

"The indemnity for the death or injury of a woman is one-half the indemnity paid for a man. The indemnity paid for a Jew or Christian is one-third the indemnity paid for a Muslim. The indemnity paid for a Zoroastrian is one-fifteenth that of a Muslim." — 'Umdat al-Salik, o4.9

"Thus if [a] Muslim commits adultery his punishment is 100 lashes, the shaving of his head, and one year of banishment. But if the man is not a Muslim and commits adultery with a Muslim woman his penalty is execution...Similarly if a Muslim deliberately murders another Muslim he falls under the law of retaliation and must by law be put to death by the next of kin. But if a non-Muslim who dies at the hand of a Muslim has by lifelong habit been a non-Muslim, the penalty of death is not valid. 4. Governments deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed

What we must defend:

"That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed..." — Declaration of Independence

What we must defend it against:

Non-Muslims have "absolutely no right to seize the reins of power in any part of God’s earth nor to direct the collective affairs of human beings according to their own misconceived doctrines." If they do, "the believers would be under an obligation to do their utmost to dislodge them from political power and to make them live in subservience to the Islamic way of life." — Syed Abul Ala Maududi, founder of the Pakistani political party Jamaat-e-Islami

Brilliant post Robert!

I've downloaded it already and am ready to share with others I know.

For those living in countries without a bill of rights, a similar approach can be taken with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This can then be used to focus attention on why all members of the Organisation of Islamic Countries have admitted they can't, and won't, support these universal human rights. Because their Islamic religious belief, expressed in the legal/political form known as Sharia, doesn't allow it.

I don't think anyone will have any problems finding their own examples of how Islam or islamic countries/leaders/teachers/jihadis fail to meet, or actively deny, the following articles:

Article 1
All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

Article 2
Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.

Article 3
Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.

Article 4
No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.

Article 5
No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.

Article 7
All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law. All are entitled to equal protection against any discrimination in violation of this Declaration and against any incitement to such discrimination.

Article 16
Men and women of full age, without any limitation due to race, nationality or religion, have the right to marry and to found a family. They are entitled to equal rights as to marriage, during marriage and at its dissolution.
Marriage shall be entered into only with the free and full consent of the intending spouses.
The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State.

Article 18
Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.

Article 19
Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.

Article 21
Everyone has the right to take part in the government of his country, directly or through freely chosen representatives.
Everyone has the right to equal access to public service in his country.
The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government; this will shall be expressed in periodic and genuine elections which shall be by universal and equal suffrage and shall be held by secret vote or by equivalent free voting procedures.

Article 28
Everyone is entitled to a social and international order in which the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration can be fully realized.

Article 30
Nothing in this Declaration may be interpreted as implying for any State, group or person any right to engage in any activity or to perform any act aimed at the destruction of any of the rights and freedoms set forth herein.

The Prophet cut off the hands and feet of the men belonging to the tribe of 'Uraina and did not cauterise (their bleeding limbs) till they died.

Excellent points. I would just add that in the coming year we must make more of an effort to achieve energy independence. Let's not forget the enormous economic influence created by petro-dollars. I just hope our love of freedom is greater than our willingness to sell it out.

6th Amendment

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed . . . .

I do not believe that Islam allows jury trials, but cannot find a reference.

On this 232nd anniversary of America's birth, and considering that it is here at JW that I am posting, I want to wish my country, which I dearly love and esteem, Happy Birthday and long life, and equally want to wish Islam, which I have come to have total skepticism of, nothing good at all. America is great. Islam is not. The two are not compatible in any way and it is impossible to be a patriotic American and a devout Muslim at one and the same time, irrespective of what CAIR or the Wall Street Journal might maintain.

During WW1, the Wilson administration got Congress to pass the Sedition Act, which banned "uttering, printing, writing, or publishng any disloyal, profane, scurrilous, or abusive language about the United States government or the military."
This blatant violation of freedom of speech and the press was supported by virtually all the leftist-liberals of that day.

Now:
The government wants hate-crime legislation that takes the above quote and replaces "the U.S. gov't or the military" with "Islam or Moslems".

How far we have come. As wrong-headed as both laws are, at least in 1917 they believed they were protecting American interests. Now they're more interested in protecting our enemies' interests.

That is an interesting pattern on the back of the rattlesnake depicted on our old " Don't Tread on Me" flag. The pattern suggests that it is a new variant of the rattlesnake, " The koran quoting rattlesnake ". It was introduced from the middle east and is deadlier than most others of the species and difficult to control as it has been declared a protected species by the left. Found most often lurking behind the constitution and is aggressive until exposed at which time it slithers away making a curious whining sound.

It's no accident that the Wall Street Journal is dhimmi-like in its attitudes, since that publication is devoted to money and all those who have a lot of it. Take immigration, for example. The WSJ supports an open borders policy, obviously because that means cheap labor for business. On Islamic-related issues, they tend to favor OPEC and its croesus-like membership.
This points up a difficulty that the counter-jihad faces: The money weapon has coopted much of business, a powerful interest group whose staunch opposition to Communism does not carry over in the current struggle. That still leaves some Evangelicals, Jews, Hindus, and assorted others in the vanguard.It's a poignant thing to contemplate on a day which celebrates our freedom, to realize just how precarious it is.

My mother used to tell stories about how, as a little girl in an Australian coastal town, during World War II, she saw the American soldiers travelling north, en route to engage the Japanese who - intoxicated with a supremacist geopolitical cult - had gobbled up most of the Pacific/ SE Asia and were right on our northern doorstep.

We owe you, for a large part of our present freedom. To any US veteran of the Pacific Theatre in WWII, who may chance to read this: THANK YOU.

It is profoundly disturbing to me, as an Austraiian, to read the articles at jihadwatch and see how far Islam has infiltrated into the USA; and then to realize that the same insidious process is happening here.

May the governments and citizenry of both our countries, wake up, in time.

Islam is not a religion but a whole way of life.
It is an ideology, both political, social, legal and economic and yes, religious as well.
And that is the problem.
How could the US adopt it without forming two different societies or legal, economic, and social systems?
If Islam (or any other alien system for that matter)is to be adopted into a host society, it must be made clear that the culture of the host society remains the dominant culture for all time.
Otherwise there will be chaos.
If Islamists are not prepared to accept that, then you have a major problem on your hands.

It has recently been announced by a top judge here in the UK that aspects of the Islamic legal system should be allowed to become part of the British legal system.
I am not sure how this is going to work. We shall have to wait and see, but I pray that it does not happen.

What's this "we" business? Unless you were specifically referring to Americans. Otherwise, there is no "we". All the worldwide pols show it; the world hates America and Americans. There are a few individuals here and there that don't, but they are a small minority in the world community. Mark Steyn was right America is alone.

There are three doctrines that are, taken alone, not necessarily religious yet have only one common denominator of which I am aware.

1. Abusive misogyny: The typical root of most domestic abuse.
See Jerry Springer guests, and orthodox Muslim households.

2. Vengeful tribal supremacism: Violently lashes out against those who criticize or mock the group, violently lashes out against those who leave or call others to leave the group, and violently lashes out against anyone who embarrasses the group.
See the Church of Scientology, revolutionary Communist parties, orthodox Muslim communities.

3. Belligerent territorial pseudo-nationalism. The group claims a certain territory, and in that territory only their laws matter as far as they are concerned. Anyone who tries to operate on the assumption of otherwise is violently reminded. See organized crime rings, Disney World, and orthodox Muslim communities.

Perhaps the way forward will be in aggressively prosecuting these doctrines individually, and finding ways to suitably protect potential victims thereof, because really, they're wrong whether or not they're practiced by someone who claims to follow Islam.

I suggest, that where not already forbidden by your masters the liberals, you exercise those rights. Go out and buy a firearm or handgun. Learn to use it. Join the NRA. (Yeah, I know not the best choice but better than nothing.) Carry a handgun where legally allowed and reasonable. If lots and lots of folks put cash into the firearms industry and make it healthy, it can send a very clear signal to those who would rule over us rather than do the job we pay them for - administer the government.

Lastly, we need to flush the bad things out of DC. We need a nationwide movement to "Throw the Bums Out!" Vote against the incumbents unless the alternative is just too heinous. McCain may not be the best choice the GoP could have made but he sure is better than that Socialist the Demoncrats put up. Then look for alternatives. I suggest the Constitution Party. Get some of their guys into the local government so that they can gain a proper foothold in the political life of the country.

We can not longer sit on the sidelines, vote when election day comes around and think we are doing our civic duty. We must get involved or those who are fully involved and wish to grind us under the socialist bootheel will win the day.

Robert - Thanks for the great post. It inspired this US citizen who is sitting in a foreign land for a time. Keep doing what your are doing and ringing the bell of freedom.
